Very nice beer garden. The restaurant is rather small. The food on offer is very tasty, and the Landwehrbräu brewery provides fine drinks. Prices have increased (as per September 25), but are still reasonable. Parking can be difficult on weekends when the weather is nice.

We were here a few weeks ago. After a long hike, we, a family of four, unfortunately ended up here. It was very crowded and noisy. Next to our table, the boys were constantly sorting through dishes and glasses. It was loud. The food was very bad. The dumplings with gravy were hard and oversalted. The vegetable goulash with noodles was oversalted and completely overseasoned with curry and other spices. My husband had severe stomach pain after the meal, and both children had diarrhea and pain. The walk home was terrible...

A stopover on the way home from the Allgäu region (Lusatian Lake District). I was really craving bratwurst with sauerkraut and potato salad. All expectations met 😋

A very nice self-service beer garden, located on the Old Canal. Plenty of seating, some shaded, some covered, or under trees. Perfect for a rest during a walk or bike ride. You can also come by car; there are plenty of parking spaces. I can't comment on the food; we've only had a few drinks so far. This is partly due to the only drawback: the long lines, both for drinks and food.

A great place to be Nestel and beautiful woody area. Families with children no problem, food is great. Service is fantastic. Nice atmosphere. People are relaxed and friendly. I strongly recommend this place. Personal is so friendly on weekends. It gets more cloudy but this is absolutely understandable because that place is gorgeous.

We've been coming here for years. The food is always great. You can also go for a nice walk nearby.

Insanely expensive... And everything was very poorly done. The staff seemed overwhelmed by the crowd and were irritated as a result. The food, Nuremberg sausages and a Fanta, was overpriced and, to my taste, tasteless and presented in the same way.

Anytime Parking only when full, so access can be challenging. If some people want to exit and others want to enter, one direction might have to reverse completely out. The street is very narrow, making it almost impossible to turn around.

The seating is beautiful, the food is good and inexpensive. I was impressed by the abundance of flowers.

If you're taking a bike ride along the Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal or hiking through the Schwarzach Gorge, the Waldschänke Brückkanal is a must. I find the beer garden very nice and cozy, the atmosphere unique. The food was delicious (I'd say like everywhere in Franconia), and the drink selection is extensive. It's self-service, so you have to order and pick up your food and drinks at the counter. On nice weekends, you might have to wait in line a bit, because there's only one food counter and one drink counter. I definitely recommend it.

The food wasn't convincing. The dumpling with sauce for our boy was really bad. Too salty. The baked potato was practically inedible. The schnitzel was okay. The potato salad was also okay. If you like something spicy, add a lot of pepper. It was a bit too spicy for my wife. Here, you can sit in the beer garden after hiking in the gorge. It's self-service, but that's okay. The food is the big downside.

The Waldschänke is beautifully situated in the countryside. Hot meals at reasonable prices, as well as snack platters and coffee and cake, are available throughout the day. Drinks are also available, of course. The nearby hiking trails invite you to take anything from a short stroll to a full hike. Definitely worth a visit!

Service deducted two stars because there was no waitress. However, the staff was very friendly, and the young people who constantly collected the dirty dishes from the table were prompt.

Even the walk there is beautiful, and as soon as you arrive, you feel like you're on vacation. The food is down-to-earth, delicious, and authentically Franconian. Whether it's a snack, a shoulder of pork, or simply a little something to accompany your beer, the quality is top-notch, and the portions are more than generous. Plus, there's freshly tapped beer and a relaxed atmosphere that's perfect for an outing. I particularly like the location: children can play, cyclists and hikers enjoy taking a break here, and you can simply sit comfortably in the greenery. The value for money is top-notch, and you immediately notice that the work here is done with passion. If you're traveling near Schwarzenbruck or Feucht, you should definitely stop by. The Waldschänke Brückkanal is nature, history, and Franconian hospitality all rolled into one, highly recommended!

The food was very good. It's self-service, so the line was a bit long, but with a cold drink in hand, we managed to get through it. A system with a vibrating sensor to let you know when the food is ready might also be an option.

A quaint pub, right next to the old canal, in the middle of the forest, so you'll always have shady spots even in midsummer. The beer garden gets especially busy on weekends, but you can usually still find a seat. The food is okay, but not outstanding; the entire place is self-service.

A great destination for young and old for decades. It's always a pleasant cycling destination along the old canal, and for hikers, the Schwarzachklamm Gorge offers an exciting circular trail. The Franconian cuisine, whether you're a little hungry or a big appetite, is also well-received. Despite its size, it can get crowded on weekends.

Nice, large, cozy beer garden, plenty of parking. You have to like self-service, but you know that if you're from the area. Really friendly staff. The food was ready quickly. But unfortunately, it was inedible. I had cheese spaetzle with a small salad. The salad was good, but the cheese spaetzle were a disgrace. They should be taken off the menu. They were completely yellow and looked completely dried out, as if they'd been sitting around for half a day. The cheese was on top, but if I had been blindfolded, I wouldn't have realized I was eating cheese. The onions, in my opinion, were from a packet and found somewhere under the spaetzle. Even if I had been blindfolded, I wouldn't have realized they were onions. The worst cheese spaetzle of my life. I can only rate the cheese spaetzle, not the entire meal.

Absolutely. A great selection of dishes, whether hot or cold, or a selection of cakes. The tavern is located right next to the old canal and in the middle of the forest. There's a large parking lot and it's a great stop for hikers and cyclists.

Beer garden, delicious food, and tasty beer... always worth a visit. Update 2024: Unfortunately, I can't go there as often anymore due to the rapidly rising prices. Update August 2025: The price-performance ratio is no longer good. €16.30 for a sizzling, over-salted shoulder of pork is outrageous.

Despite the late, sunny Sunday afternoon and the crowds, we didn't have to wait long for our food and drinks. It was quick, and the staff were very friendly and seemed to enjoy their work. We also found a seat quickly, and as soon as we were finished, someone came over and politely asked if we could clear away. The tables and the garden were clean and looked inviting. I'd be happy to stop by again when I'm in the area.

Due to a lack of staff, this place is self-service. However, the woman at the counter has her business under control. She quickly gives orders to her kitchen team and knows exactly who ordered what and when. Sometimes you have to wait a few minutes. But everything works wonderfully. Drinks are served very quickly. Large beer garden at the start of the beautiful hiking trail.

Here, you can enjoy the beer garden even in rainy weather (plenty of covered seating). The shoulder of pork was very crispy. Vegetarians and vegans will also find something to eat here.

We were there around 11:30 a.m. for lunch, as it's busy. Self-service prices were really reasonable, the food was delicious, and the beer garden was great. A large Spezi (a German specialty) was €3.60. And we liked it. There's a hiking parking lot in the forest opposite the Waldschänke parking lot. We then went right next door to the canal and went on a large hike for about two hours. Our reward was the Waldschänke. Friendly service staff.

A charming little beer garden. Although self-service, it's quick and easy. The Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal crosses the Schwarzach River here, crossing a bridge. It's a romantic place to linger and relax. Prices are moderate; a salted dumpling with cabbage and bread costs less than €10.
