Unfortunately, nothing changes with the food here. I'd like to see the menu updated. It's the same every year. I like the daily specials. But the quality could definitely be improved. The ambiance and friendliness of the staff, even when busy, are very friendly. Maybe consider a second pub on busy days.

I ate here on Father's Day before heading to the Schwarzach Gorge. I have to say, they've got their act together. Despite the crowd, my order (shoulder of pork with dumplings) was on my plate within minutes. Hot, crispy, and delicious! The prices are reasonable, and the people who collect the dishes and glasses afterward are quick. We found a seat relatively quickly, even on Father's Day. There was also live music. Since the beer garden is a bit out of town, it's a wonderful escape from everyday life. A stroll along the Schwarzach Gorge makes you feel like you're on vacation. It's interesting to see what the water has done to the rock. All in all, a great place. I'll definitely be back 😋

It's just a self-service affair, so you can't really rate the service. But you get everything pretty quickly. Affordable and very tasty 👍🙏 I highly recommend it.

Very nice traditional beer garden with delicious food and a wide selection. Perfect for cyclists. It was really nice with my Lumpika (a kind of rag doll).

There's always room in the beer garden, good food, and the food arrives very quickly. Perhaps not everything is homemade; less vinegar and salt in the dishes would be good. Otherwise, a nice atmosphere.

A beautiful, quiet beer garden near the historic old canal. The old canal is a wonderful place to cycle from Nuremberg all the way to Feucht and the Brückkanal. The beer garden offers a wide selection of food, with plenty of Franconian delicacies for children and adults. It's also easily accessible by car, and the prices are typically fair for Franconia.

I'm not entirely convinced. The beer garden isn't bad, and I wouldn't call it cozy either. The food tasted quite good, but not outstanding. We called in advance to ask if they could eat inside in cooler weather. They assured us it wouldn't be a problem and that we didn't need to make a reservation. When we arrived there after a half-hour drive, we were disappointed. We were traveling with older people who would have liked to eat inside, but the restaurant was locked, and we could/had to eat outside. The value for money is OK. The quality of the food is very good.

Great place to go for a wilderness walk, trails are well marked. We had lunch afterwards, we were a group of 18 and the food was served amazingly fast. The food was also excellent.

The facility is embedded in a wonderful leisure area on the old canal on the Schwarzach with great sandstone surroundings, caves and hiking trails. Both flat paths and climbing are possible. It's worth it ...

For someone who loves crowds of people, this is the place for you! A very beautiful, idyllic beer garden that is unfortunately overcrowded. You have to get your own drinks and food, long queues. It's understandable given the masses of people that there is no longer any service here. Can be compared to a visit to an amusement park. Food good but not outstanding. For me personally, it's not a place I would want to visit again.

When the weather is nice and there is a big rush, there are long queues at the ticket offices. Could be better organized.

A MUST, it is incredibly beautiful

Great location, a stop on a bike tour is definitely worth it. But you have to plan a lot of time because the queues (you have to queue at least twice) are enormous. You stand for 15 minutes or longer at a time. I wonder how the Austrians manage this in the ski resort. The throughput is usually even higher there, the selection is also huge and you only queue for a few minutes at self-service and then have food and drinks all at once.

I can recommend it to everyone, it's really great here

Very nicely located beer garden with good Franconian cuisine - the Schäufele tasted excellent and there are also delicious dishes for vegetarians. It's self-service in the beer garden! After a walk in the Schwarzachschlucht and/or the Brückkanal, a visit to the beer garden is definitely a good idea! We were definitely not here for the last time!

From this large beer garden you can start a varied circular route of approx. 7 km (shorter if necessary). At the beginning you go through a geotope Schwarzachklamm and you can return along the old Ludwig-Donau-Main Canal and end up back at the Waldschänke.

Top beer garden, actually! But in the best weather on Sunday, wait 30 minutes for drinks, no. Should you already get organized that fluidly.

Unfortunately, the taste and quality in the restaurant has deteriorated considerably. But a snack in the beer garden is always possible.

It's also beautifully situated between the Schwarzach River and the old Ludwig Canal, with delicious food and a place to relax, friendly guests and staff. The large parking lot is exclusively for guests; the motorcycle trip was worth it in March 2025.

We love being here in the summer and stopping off after hiking. This year we were at the winter solstice fire. It was a great pre-Christmas evening. We'll be back next year.

The location is very nice, on the canal and right next to the forest. However, I can't understand why there aren't any fries there. Even the children have to eat potato salad with their schnitzel, there are no fries. Actually, it's standard to get at least fries in a beer garden and I'm sure that more people would come that way. The food itself is always very well seasoned, but sometimes too spicy.

Unfortunately there are always long queues when ordering food. Speaks for the food, but it's annoying.

(There are no fries with any other dish) What I think is very good is that they serve regional beer. The beer garden is perfect for a stop after a hike in the Schwarzachklamm.

The area is beautiful and wonderful for walking, but the food here is very expensive for what you get and was nothing special. Everything is ready immediately. This is not cooking but a soup kitchen. The choice of beer and other drinks is okay. Do not come here to eat. very disappointing, it used to be much better

A great beer garden that invites you to linger after a wonderful hike in this absolutely impressive area. The food surprised us positively. A large selection of Franconian dishes, as well as coffee and cake, leave nothing to be desired. The ladies in the kitchen are warm and always up for a joke, but above all they are hard-working and on their toes. The food comes within a few minutes and tastes really good. The young boys in the beer garden are also very attentive and quickly clear the dishes as soon as you're done. The cappuccino has the world's best milk foam...just to say the least. 😉 The prices are completely okay. When it comes to drinks, you get 0.5l for the price you pay for half elsewhere. All in all, the Waldschänke impressed us so much that we will come regularly in the future, even if we have to drive 60km. The only thing to complain about is the toilets. More cleanliness would be desirable there. But I've experienced worse there too. In any case, we give it 5 stars 🌟 because the overall concept is simply convincing. There is enough space and there are parking spaces nearby.

This beer garden with around 700 seats can be the starting point, destination or stopover on the Schwarzachklamm/Ludwigskanal circular hiking trail. Very friendly staff offer a surprising amount of self-service food and drinks at acceptable prices. An adjacent parking lot also offers enough space for guests traveling by car. Worth a visit.
