Popular excursion restaurant with a large veranda & large beer garden including children's playground. I have known the restaurant for years and enjoy visiting it again and again (usually as part of family celebrations). The location in the Junge Heide is very idyllic and you can either arrive comfortably by car or, if you like it more active, you can reach it with a walk/hike through the forest.

Super nice service, very quick too. The classic home-style food is simply great. However, something lighter alternative would round off the card very well. We'd love to come back.

An unfriendly treatment if you are just a guest at the snack bar

Been there again after 20 years. We took advantage of the nice weather and took a trip to Waldmax. It's actually a shame that it only happened again after 20 years. The first thing you noticed was the friendly and attentive service. A man who really cares about the guest's well-being. The food was also super tasty. We had the Walmax burger, the meat loaf and the grützwurst. Everything excellent. The portion size is ok. A big hungry man, but can't get enough. The side salad with the dressing is a dream. Of course it's all a matter of taste. So we will definitely come back. However, in summer. It's nice to sit outside and the children can have fun in the playground. Keep it up...

The last time we were there it was manageable and the staff also had time for individual things. Ordering a seat online worked. Food and drinks okay, prices reasonable, waiting times okay. Large outdoor area in summer. Payment possible in cash and by card. Website cleaned up, there are various events.

We had reserved seats for today, Sun. We ate “Sauerbraten”, which corresponded to a normal, sometimes not soft roast beef. The highlight: after paying the bill, the chair was literally pulled out from under us. Glasses were cleared away with the words that the next guests were already waiting (I hadn't finished my glass yet). I would like to say that we ate quickly and did not use the restaurant as a warming room. All at a price of €87 for 3 people.

Due to a bad experience from a few years ago (we were simply overlooked in the beer garden and not served), we came here with some doubts. Luckily we gave this restaurant another chance! Food served quickly and sufficiently, no cramped seating, pleasant atmosphere. The only thing that could have been given before looking at the menu was the fact that many dishes are not being offered due to upcoming menu changes. The house dark beer was excellent! We felt very comfortable there.

We've eaten here several times, the journey is easy for those who know the area, but a bit more complicated for strangers, but it's easy to find due to the proximity of the S4 motorway. The ambience is pleasant, an excursion restaurant with a large playground and a large beer garden but also very hospitable inside. The menu is extensive and there is something to suit every taste, whether you are a meat lover or a vegetarian, everyone will be satisfied here. The food is fresh, well prepared and tasty. Access for wheelchair users is well regulated with a ramp and a strong staff member, but they should be registered. Thanks to the leadership of master butcher Schulze, the freshness of the meat products is always ensured; a small part of the products can be purchased there In the cold season, it is recommended to bring a warm jacket. Otherwise, this restaurant is always recommended.

I'm writing this review because of a gift! Dog liver sausage. Since we've had these, our dog has really enjoyed showering because we smear them on the tiles, our dog licks them off and doesn't care at all what I do to him while I'm doing it.

Wir waren vor einigen Tagen zum Weihnachtsessen mit der Familie im Waldmax Dresden, und was wir dort erleben mussten, war schlichtweg schockierend. Seit Jahren waren wir eigentlich zufriedene Kunden, die das Restaurant gerne besucht haben. Doch nach diesem Besuch ist klar: Das war das letzte Mal. Unsere Tischreservierung war für 11 Uhr. Zunächst wurden wir freundlich begrüßt – das war leider der einzige Lichtblick an diesem Tag. Das Restaurant war völlig überfüllt, alle rund 30 bis 40 Tische besetzt, und der Service war mit der Situation vollkommen überfordert. Obwohl wir pünktlich da waren, dauerte es fast 45 Minuten, bis überhaupt eine Bedienung an unseren Tisch kam. Die Gäste an den anderen Tischen wurden schneller bedient, hatten teilweise längst ihr Essen, während wir immer noch warteten. Kurz vor 12:30 kam eine Bedienung und teilte uns mit, dass wir das Restaurant um 13 Uhr verlassen müssten – wir hatten unser Essen zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch nicht einmal erhalten! Es war ein schockierender Moment, der uns das Gefühl gab, nur noch abgefertigt zu werden. Schließlich, um 12:40, kam dann endlich unser Essen. Die wenigen Minuten, die uns danach noch blieben, um in Ruhe zu essen, waren einfach nur stressig und enttäuschend. Das Essen selbst war eine weitere Enttäuschung. Das Schnitzel, das normalerweise eine Spezialität sein sollte, war minderwertig: fettig, voller Speck und von schlechter Qualität. Angesichts der völlig überzogenen Preise ein Schlag ins Gesicht. Der angebotene Glühwein als „Entschuldigung“ für die extreme Verspätung war weder geschmacklich überzeugend noch eine angemessene Wiedergutmachung für den Stress und Ärger. Was die Organisation betrifft, war dieser Tag ein Totalausfall. Das Restaurant hatte eine kleine Weihnachtskarte mit gerade einmal sechs Gerichten, und trotzdem war die Küche nicht in der Lage, diese halbwegs pünktlich zuzubereiten. Die Bedienungen taten uns teilweise leid – vor allem die jüngeren Mitarbeiter, die offensichtlich Studenten oder Aushilfen waren. Sie blieben trotz des Chaos freundlich, aber man sah ihnen die Überforderung an. Besonders erschreckend war der respektlose Umgang mit den Gästen. Ein älterer Herr, der offensichtlich auf seinen reservierten Tisch wartete, wurde vom Personal angegangen, als wäre er eine Störung. Solches Verhalten ist schlichtweg inakzeptabel. Beim Verlassen des Restaurants sahen wir draußen eine riesige Schlange wartender Gäste, die offenbar auf ihre Reservierungen für 13 Uhr warteten. Zustände wie in einer Massenabfertigungshalle – und das zu Weihnachten! Wir waren jahrelang treue Gäste des Waldmax, aber dieser Besuch hat alles geändert. Das Restaurant scheint seinen Fokus komplett verloren zu haben. Statt guter Qualität und einem angenehmen Erlebnis geht es hier nur noch um maximale Umsätze, und das auf Kosten des Personals, der Gäste sowie der Qualität. Fazit: Das war unser letzter Besuch im Waldmax. Wer sich ein schönes Weihnachtsessen oder einen entspannten Restaurantbesuch wünscht, sollte diesen Ort weiträumig meiden. Langanhaltende Kundschaft zieht man so nicht an!

We had dinner at Waldmax on Christmas Day. There was a fire bowl outside and created a cozy atmosphere as soon as you arrived. Sure it was very crowded. Nevertheless, the food came quickly and was very tasty. Our waitress was also very, very nice and didn't let us feel any stress.

We went to Waldmax for lunch on Boxing Day. The restaurant was fully booked, anyone can imagine what that means. The service staff was still very friendly and motivated. A cozy atmosphere could not be created due to the large number of people. The food is good home-style cooking, you won't find any unusual menu items on the menu. The prices: Schnitzel with fries and mushroom sauce €22.50 During the summer during the week I would definitely recommend the Waldmax. On public holidays and weekends you just have to be aware that the Waldmax is well attended and you may only get a time slot of 2 hours.

Everything was actually ordered. But then we got something completely different. Not the place ordered. Not the required chairs. First drinks after 45 minutes. Food was terrible. Cold meat. Cold sauce. With several different dishes. Some of the side dishes are completely tasteless. When it comes to prices, everyone else can do it better.

We were there for Christmas dinner with the family. Everyone really enjoyed it and it tasted great.

We were there for dinner. Food and drinks were served quickly. The restaurant has a butcher shop. As hoped, the portions were generous and the meat was very good. Therefore, in my opinion, the higher prices are appropriate. The ambience was pleasant.

Like every year we went to St. Martin's goose dinner with the family. The goose was perfect and delicious. In previous years the geese were from Chef expertly disassembled at the table. Everyone really enjoyed this process. Unfortunately, this was missing this year and therefore compromises the service. If expensive - and that's it really - at least you should mitigate through the service and do not paint there. Nevertheless, everything was ok and we'll still come back but only if we get the little Jägerstübchen again, which we didn't manage to do this year either

The cheeks already smelled and you couldn't eat the meat. 3 people tasted it and spat it all back out. The condition said you weren't in it and we still had to pay for the food even though the meat was inedible. The son-in-law had the same food, his was perfectly fine. My husband was only offered a coffee or schnapps. We didn't think that was okay.

It's a very nice restaurant, it was very full but we still got our food quickly and were served very friendly. Every meal at our table was excellent. We would love to come back.

It's always beautiful here. In warm weather you can sit outside and there is also a decent playground. It's a bit dark inside but the ambience is good. The service is great, fast and in a good mood.

Sometimes it helps to adjust the portions so that you can keep the prices at a good level. All in all: food good, ambience good, price-performance ratio needs an adjustment.

The service is very friendly except for the head waiter, who speaks a bit aloof and doesn't treat his employees particularly respectfully. There is a playground for children. I was a guest here with my grandparents as a child. Now with your own kids. We also always use the Waldmax at work to end the working day. The food is varied, classic for the region and prepared in very good quality. The rooms offer space for many people and can also be used in separate areas (for various events). A few unpaved parking spaces are available in front of the door.

Attractive atmosphere, friendly staff and plenty of seating in the garden. Price performance ratio and quality is questionable! Very small, cold seasoned meat with some leftover lettuce. The advertised homemade elderberry lemonade is not recommended. This was served lukewarm without ice with a small piece of floating lemon. It really tasted like water with a little syrup. Upon request, it was confirmed that it was just non-carbonated water and syrup. Mhm... and that for €4.90. I would advise against a visit!

We wanted to spontaneously go out for dinner today on Friday evening and were seated quickly and courteously as requested without a reservation, despite the wedding party and the full beer garden. The waiter knows his trade and there are enough staff to ensure that food and drink are supplied quickly. The dishes we ordered were very tasty and plentiful. We can therefore highly recommend the Waldmax.

Very nice excursion restaurant with a beautiful beer garden. There is a really nice and large playground for children and an indoor playroom for bad weather. There is plenty of parking space and you can even buy shrink-wrapped sausages for a snack at home.

We were in the beer garden on a Wednesday afternoon/evening. The service was friendly, if slightly overwhelmed. Everything went well when we took the order, but when the items arrived at the table there were a few things wrong, but that can happen. It was also corrected immediately. What bothered me the most was the selection of food on the menu. The selection on the menu seems old-fashioned and a little bit like from GDR times. There are actually almost only dishes with meat, meat or extra meat - mostly pork. I'm definitely not a vegetarian, but I don't like pork, for example. The (large) selection on the menu still made it very difficult for me, especially since I suffer from food intolerances. I then decided on the vegetarian noodles with vegetables. Unfortunately, the menu didn't say that these were swimming in a cream sauce - so I found them barely edible. The vegetables were still very firm to the bite and there were many “stems” of cauliflower and broccoli in them, very large/hardly cut. The prices are also rather in the upper price segment, both for food and drinks. The ambience is otherwise quite nice, right in the forest. If you like super hearty home cooking and food like grandma's times, this is the right place for you. Nevertheless, the conclusion remains that we won't be coming back anytime soon because the selection on the menu is simply not appealing to me. But that is my very personal taste.

We come here almost once a year and I have to say that the quality of the food has deteriorated significantly over the last two years. We were there yesterday and the salad described as “crunchy” is a collapsed pile of vegetables with dressing and no spices. The croutons and meat were saltier than anything else. The fish looked better than it tasted. The spices were missing. The children's schnitzel was accompanied by fries and well-cooked carrot pieces (what's that supposed to mean?). At the same time, prices rose. 19€ for a wilted salad… Vegetarian dishes are few and far between. The menu consists of 99% meat dishes. It's a shame, we remembered it differently.

Waited 15 minutes before we even got approached by a staff member. We couldn't check in anywhere (we reserved a table), so we just sat down. They were clearly understaffed, while the restaurant was only about half full. (How would they manage a full restaurant??) The food was meh as well, basic food but a whole plage full. Couldn't finish it. Service was bad, our server seemed inexperienced and hesitant in his actions. Other servers showed more experience. Overall, I wouldn't recommend going here, especially not when it's busy.

After many years we were guests again, this time in the beautiful beer garden. The boss, the quick waitress and the food were really top notch. I have never experienced such a friendly service person. The only thing that took a lot of getting used to was the seat cushions, which meant that you could really notice the wood of the garden chairs, and over time sitting was very tiring. But all in all, the Waldmax can only be recommended because everything else was fine and we felt very comfortable.

You can eat very well here. The ambience in the interior is rustic, cozy. There is also a glazed terrace and a beer garden where you can sit outside when the weather is nice.

When it's below 30 degrees, it's simply fantastic to sit here under the tree shade. The food was very good and the female service was simply top notch. She stays calm when stressed, which unfortunately can't be said about the male Asian operator, but everyone has a bad day. So we came back here again the next day with six colleagues
