On a friend's recommendation, we set out on our journey to Waldmax. We had a wonderful journey using Google Maps, all the information on the navigation system worked, and there was plenty of parking on site. The staff showed us a good spot. Choosing a spot worked really well for us. Food selection: There was a wonderful selection of regional and seasonal dishes. This restaurant also offers regional and seasonal dishes from a butcher shop. Important to note: The 7:00 PM deadline for food orders was clearly communicated. The food was great, the quantity was almost overwhelming, and dessert couldn't fit in our stomachs. The question: Will I come back? A definite yes!

We went there twice, and the food was always very good, and the service was friendly. Only on the second visit was the service completely overwhelmed, and we had to wait an unreasonably long time. The portion on the second visit was also a bit small for the price.

We had a company party there, which is naturally a bit difficult at times when everyone wants something at the same time. But everything was still good – I highly recommend it.

Families feel just as comfortable here as individuals. The reception is warm and friendly. Food and drinks are served promptly and within a reasonable time. The establishment strives for good quality. Ample seating inside and around the establishment, as well as a small playground, complete the overall experience. Parking is available. Wheelchair access is possible. There is an accessible restroom. Prices are in line with current standards. We felt very comfortable and are happy that the inn still exists. (I am 75 years old today and first visited here when I was 5.) PS: In the entrance area, there is a refrigerator with Schulze products. Please pay attention to the best-before date. I had to destroy some of my shopping (even though it was still 8 days until the best-before date). This is not the restaurant's fault, but it does affect the overall impression.

A rustic forest restaurant with a lot of visitors. You just have to wait a bit for your food. Unfortunately, the noodles were rather lukewarm, and even after complaining, they only cooked them superficially. I won't go back. But for meat eaters, it's definitely a paradise; my companion was in seventh heaven.

The beer garden and service were very good, with friendly staff. But what was the chef thinking yesterday? German cuisine and a schnitzel rubbed with quite a bit of garlic. That's just not acceptable. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing.

We eat at Waldmax often and have never been disappointed. Friendly service, a wide selection of dishes, and delicious meals.

Perfect for people with small children. We almost always get food from the self-service area. If it's closed, a waiter will sometimes bring something to the last table. I think that's very commendable.

The cakes and tarts are perfect, as is the coffee. Unfortunately, the hot dishes are disappointing: The kids' fries were dry, as if they'd been sitting for hours. I complained about this, but unfortunately, there was no response. It's a shame, because the potential is huge.

Today, on the way from Moritzburg Castle to the "Bastei," we visited this restaurant on a recommendation. Rustic, clean, and tidy, with top-notch cuisine. Some dishes have a slight Bohemian touch. Plenty of food and very tasty. Huge beer garden with a large playground for the little ones. Great, fast, and unobtrusive service. The takeaway offer from the "Ernst Schulze" butcher shop is also great. And to top it off, the homemade cake... a poem. It was a truly lovely stay here. Manu & Fred from Potsdam.👋

Excellent food, a very friendly and dedicated restaurant manager (who had to master order taking, billing, and answering the phone) made our stay a pleasure. The assistants are also very hardworking and efficient. We would be happy to come back.

Beautifully located on the outskirts of Dresden. Delicious home-style cooking, with a fairly meat-heavy menu due to the connection to the butcher shop. Very good cakes with a wide selection. The staff is very friendly and attentive. You sit inside in a rustic atmosphere. There's a special menu for children with the usual suspects to color in. 👍

Beautiful restaurant with playground

Yesterday, we went to Waldmax for lunch and coffee for a family birthday. The service was absolutely excellent, considering the heat yesterday and the packed beer garden. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. We were even allowed to change tables because of the heat, which was no problem. We definitely recommend it. We'd be happy to come back.

I had a Kellerbier (a beer from the cellar) and a mixed salad with chicken breast strips. The salad was nice and fresh, and the chicken was crispy. What more could you want? 👍🤗

Very quiet location in the forest...but still very popular.

The food was usually very good. This time we ordered the ribs and pork chops. Unfortunately, both were partly inedible, apart from the side dishes. The ribs either tasted of fat or were dry. The chops were difficult to cut. These two dishes from the daily special were, unfortunately, a complete disappointment :(

We're irregular but frequent guests! The service is always super friendly, no matter what. Unfortunately, yesterday the food arrived raw, and the main course came before the starter, but it wasn't a big deal and was handled very calmly. The drinks were great as always, especially the homemade lemonade. However, yesterday wasn't the chef's best day. Unfortunately, it didn't taste quite as good as you'd expect. But that's okay, because not every day is the same, and that would be a shame. We'll be back!!!!

It's been a long time since we visited Waldmax. In bright sunshine, we were greeted in the afternoon by a friendly waitress who, after a brief chat, had a table ready for us. Our order was taken quickly, and the staff were just as quick to serve us. The cake and tart weren't outstanding, but they were okay. The soft-serve ice cream sundae was quite large and tasted excellent. The cheese spaetzle served was beautifully presented and a delight. The staff were still energetic and attentive. We should probably visit Waldmax more often, especially since the prices were absolutely reasonable.

A great destination with excellent food and superb service! We spontaneously dropped in on a Sunday afternoon in perfect weather. The friendliness of the staff is truly remarkable. Despite the rush and the crowded outdoor area, everything went quickly and the staff were extremely courteous. We didn't have a reservation but still managed to get a seat. There's great play facilities for the kids nearby. The food was delicious and the value for money was excellent.

Al pedir, le pregunté al camarero si es posible reemplazar las papas fritas por puré de papas - la respuesta fue sí, pero es un cargo adicional de DOS euros! A veces es normal tener un cargo extra, pero 2 € es simplemente ridículo! A rustic, simple forest restaurant with a large outdoor and winter garden area. Fast and friendly service. Extensive menu, large portions, but for the high prices, I expected better quality. My veal liver dish wasn't particularly fresh, tasty, or appetizingly presented. It smelled of it from a distance. Plenty of room for improvement!

We were at Waldmax with about 10 people, one of whom was vegetarian and one vegan. Vegetarian options include salad or "Colorful Waldmax Pasta." Question: Do you have any vegan options? Answer: We're a butcher shop. I can offer you a salad without any of the above. Seriously? Salad without any of the above? Things used to be better. Back then, there was vegan food à la carte. Every kitchen should be able to provide at least one vegan side dish. It would also be in the interest of meat-eating guests if no one at the table had to watch without food.

They tried to offer me a burst sausage. Mustard was uncovered in 34°C heat. The tables in the self-service area facing the playground were very dirty.

I was there for a customer event, and the team supported us very well. I'd be happy to come back.

We visited Waldmax for a family celebration with about 15 people and were thoroughly satisfied. Particularly noteworthy is the outstanding service of the waitress, who almost single-handedly handled the service; she was always friendly, attentive, and dedicated. Whether it was drinks, appetizers, main courses, or desserts, she listened to every request and took great care of each guest. Orders were taken promptly, and she was assisted in serving by two very friendly young trainees or professionals, presumably from Asia, who impressed with their excellent German skills. The portions were very generous, lovingly prepared, and tasted excellent. An all-round successful visit—we would be happy to return. Thank you all very much.

We celebrated our wedding with 24 guests at Waldmax and were completely satisfied. The coordination beforehand went smoothly, and our requests were met flexibly. We received a warm welcome – the entire team was friendly, attentive, and always in a good mood. We were particularly impressed by the food: top-quality flavor and lovingly prepared. We visited this wonderful restaurant with our family today and were absolutely thrilled! The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the service was quick and reliable. The restaurant itself is incredibly cozy, with a very pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. We particularly loved the large outdoor children's playground and the small indoor playroom – perfect for families with children! The food was simply delicious, especially the venison goulash: the meat was so tender it melted in your mouth. The price is around €20 per person, which is perfectly reasonable. We are more than satisfied and will definitely return. Highly recommended.

In the beer garden you'll find everything you could want - delicious beer, many dishes from our own butcher shop - all combined with Czech hospitality, topped off with a delicious soft ice cream afterwards.

We were invited to a big birthday party last Saturday, and unfortunately, the catering didn't work out at all. Despite emails and phone calls, they simply forgot to add it to the order book. Suddenly, 50 guests were left without food. Sorry, that's hardly excusable.

The excellent "Waldmax" forest restaurant, which dates back to 1922, reopened in 1995 after a listed building renovation on the edge of the Dresden Heath and has undergone positive development. The "Waldmax" forest restaurant is very popular with Dresden residents and their guests. In nice weather, it is sometimes difficult to get a seat without a reservation. It is also a great place for family celebrations. There are areas that can be reserved entirely for family celebrations and company anniversaries. The food offered by the butcher Schulze, who took over the "Waldmax" forest restaurant in 1995, is very good. Unfortunately, however, they had to raise prices there as well, which is why people aren't as likely to visit the "Waldmax" as they used to be. A few years ago, the playground was relocated from the left side of the road directly next to the forest restaurant. This allows children to access the playground on their own. However, the playground needs to be renovated from time to time and the play equipment needs to be improved. Unfortunately, the seesaw has been moved to the side, making it somewhat difficult for people with walking disabilities who are here with their children or grandchildren. Parking is very poor in good weather. There are also no specially designated parking spaces for people with disabilities. The owner, Mr. Schulze, should definitely rethink this. The restrooms are mostly clean, and there is also an accessible restroom. However, the signage is somewhat poor. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Four of us had lunch last Saturday and the service was great! The food was plentiful and very tasty!

The food is good. However, you notice that the service ultimately deteriorates. We sat down at a table and were then served. But later a German waitress came and complained to us why we had sat down there, that wasn't correct, I have no idea why that should be my problem if they don't get their tables organized. Then you have to note that the quality of the playground has deteriorated significantly, which is a shame. It was always a highlight for the kids. But the highlight was the last time we went to the self-service to get an ice cream. First we stood at the open window for ages then an older gentleman came and just said "closed", nothing more and that at 4:30 p.m. on a Sunday? So you can do better than that.

We celebrated a birthday at Waldmax and were there for the first time. The service was nice, the portions justified the price and the taste was also very good. There was a playground outside for the little ones, which was great fun. The restaurant is very well maintained and we felt comfortable.

The ambience is also completely fine, although it is very crowded on weekends and therefore the noise level is a bit louder. But you know that if you want to stop here on a certain day of the week. We went to Waldmax for dinner today for our 85th birthday. We traveled from the Berlin area especially for this purpose. We were very impressed with the restaurant. The food was more than excellent and the service was also very good. Although the restaurant was really very full, the service staff had everything under control and you didn't have to wait long for food and drinks. We'll definitely be back. We were there for lunch on a Sunday. It was very, very crowded and incredibly loud. It had the feel of a crowded train station. The staff was absolutely great and very friendly. Unfortunately the quality of the food's components were of substandard quality. In addition, over €5 for a small bottle of non-alcoholic beer is very excessive. I paid 60€ for two meals and a water and a beer. For the money I've had much higher quality food.

Popular excursion restaurant with a large veranda & large beer garden including children's playground. I have known the restaurant for years and enjoy visiting it again and again (usually as part of family celebrations). The location in the Junge Heide is very idyllic and you can either arrive comfortably by car or, if you like it more active, you can reach it with a walk/hike through the forest.

Super nice service, very quick too. The classic home-style food is simply great. However, something lighter alternative would round off the card very well. We'd love to come back.

An unfriendly treatment if you are just a guest at the snack bar

Been there again after 20 years. We took advantage of the nice weather and took a trip to Waldmax. It's actually a shame that it only happened again after 20 years. The first thing you noticed was the friendly and attentive service. A man who really cares about the guest's well-being. The food was also super tasty. We had the Walmax burger, the meat loaf and the grützwurst. Everything excellent. The portion size is ok. A big hungry man, but can't get enough. The side salad with the dressing is a dream. Of course it's all a matter of taste. So we will definitely come back. However, in summer. It's nice to sit outside and the children can have fun in the playground. Keep it up...
