Waldhotel am Notschreipass in Oberried

We had a wonderful stay in the restaurant of the Waldhotel at Notschreipass! The food was really tasty and prepared with great attention to detail – simply a pleasure! The entire staff was super friendly and accommodating, which made the atmosphere even more pleasant. It was particularly practical that we could charge our electric car directly at the hotel at a fair price. An all-round successful visit – we would love to come back!

We have just spent 5 nights at the Waldhotel. Wow what a great hotel! We would always provide very friendly and competent advice and service. The rooms are very, very clean and well maintained as is the wellness area. We came with 2 younger children and they were also warmly welcomed and had fun in the hotel and in their leisure activities.

The Waldhotel is particularly recommended for vegan eaters; You really feel like you're in the land of milk and honey! Whether at the large and fresh breakfast buffet or for dinner. The various vegan starters as well as the main courses are extremely tasty. It's also brilliant how everything at the buffets is always labeled "vegan". The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The sauna is beautiful and soothing. The cleanliness is top. A lot of new things are currently being built, especially for a new wellness world. You really feel very comfortable in the Waldhotel (and you definitely eat too much=).

We drank a beer here and ate steak and a schnitzel on the terrace bathed in autumn sunshine. The latter was perfectly fine, the entrecote steak did not meet my expectations and my complaint was handled professionally and personally by the managing director to my satisfaction. Therefore recommended.

We felt very comfortable here! The rooms are modern, tidy and well equipped - nothing is missing! Warm messages, sparkling wine upon arrival, cozy warmth and friendly staff in all areas. We stayed for 5 nights with half board - it was just great! A breakfast that is lovingly prepared, with everything you could wish for. Two fully automatic coffee machines but also filter coffee and a samovar with many types of tea and juices are available. There are eggs in all variations, muesli, fruit, vegan spreads and much more. The time frame from 7.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. on all days is great. In the evening we always had 5 courses within the half board. Usually 2 or 3 courses were served, the others (salad and soups or sometimes the main courses) from the buffet. The selection of meat/fish/vegan was always special. Our son was able to easily change the side dishes and so we also had saddle of lamb with fries :-). We felt absolutely comfortable here. The list of positive impressions and experiences is so much longer than I have the opportunity to write here. The spa area with indoor pool and saunas has everything you need to relax! Because many people have already commented on the street noise here: yes, you can hear the street - if you have a room facing the street. However, we were able to relax about it - we slept with the windows open and that worked really well! No honking or loud music from cars. A familiar, tidy and special hotel with great staff, in the middle of the beautiful Black Forest! We'll be back! There is still so much to discover here!

Our room was very small. The wellness facility was great. But it is still being expanded. Very friendly and helpful staff. The evening and morning meals were great, nothing was missing.

Went here for dinner. Very nice restaurant. The food was excellent. Would love to come back. Service staff was very friendly and well positioned! Also a shout out to the service trainees. Next time we will definitely sleep here too.

The 5 stars refer to the 25 years of forest kitchen menu. This was fairly priced and the main course in particular was a poem, the pear strudel could do with a little more pears. I've been eating there once a year for many years. The main building has an old school spa feel and is also beautifully located in the forest. There is a lot of cultivation going on there at the moment. The walk in the forest, which is part of it for me, also leads to an extensive construction site. If I read it correctly, a snow-making system is supposed to be built there, which I no longer think is a good thing, as I learned from a former Olympic city in France that this has a huge negative impact on the healthy water supply of the forest, which also applies to dry ones Summer can lead to the weakening of the trees and open the door to forest fires. Perhaps winter sports should be restructured in a future-oriented way.

The hotel impresses with its excellent and very friendly service, as well as excellent cuisine, which we enjoyed at breakfast and dinner. The selection is also excellent for vegans. During our stay, work on the construction site for the extensive expansion of the hotel was at a standstill, so it didn't cause any disruption. The hotel is dog-friendly, dogs are also allowed in the restaurant. The location allows for great hikes and bike rides directly from the hotel. Due to the altitude, the temperatures are significantly lower than in nearby Freiburg.

Room: The furnishings were very attractive and new. Since we were there in the summer, it was too warm at night without air conditioning, so we had to open the windows. As a result, you noticed a lot of the busy street (even at night) and it was too loud to sleep well. Wellness: Very nice wellness facility with several saunas and a swimming pool. Unfortunately, the latter was mainly used by children, which did not provide any relaxation value due to the high noise level. Due to the high outside temperatures, the relaxation room became unbearably hot (> 40° C) and was unusable. The small outdoor terrace was only equipped with 6 loungers, which did not meet demand. At a different time of year (and with fewer children present) the wellness area would be very nice. The sky loungers, which were highly advertised by the hotel for the summer, were unfortunately difficult to access. On the one hand they are on the other side of a busy road, on the other hand they were surrounded by tall grass and nettles and the area generally appeared unkempt. Food and drink: We booked the vegan menu for our stay. The dinner was sumptuous and very tasty. There was also a lot of vegan selection. We didn't find the breakfast outstanding - both in terms of selection and presentation. In our opinion, guests should be provided with chilled drinking water freely in summer. In the wellness area there was the opportunity to get tea or stale, warm spring water. We would have expected more. The hikes and walks directly from the hotel were very nice. In this respect, the location would be great if it weren't for the busy road. Overall, we found the price far too high for the services offered. We will consider other hotels in the future.

We didn't stay in this hotel, but the restaurant in the hotel is very beautiful. Hope to go again next time for dinner🫶The food is also very good👍👍👍

Hotel in a good location, rooms ok, food great, nice service, price too high for me

As guests of the partner hotel 2 km away, we were allowed to use the wellness area. Several saunas, steam and swimming pool as well as plenty of loungers. On the rest days of our hotel we had dinner here. In our case it was a 5-course menu. The staff was very friendly and competent

We called very briefly for Black Forest Gateau. It was delicious and light. Service was good and the hotel spotlessly clean

We stayed here for a surprise getaway. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was beautifully and modernly decorated, great wood paneling and lots of light. One star deducted for the location because of the many motorcyclists who drive directly past the hotel. If you keep the windows closed, you won't hear much about it. Two suggestions for improvement: - The accessories of the billiard table should be checked and replaced (sticks) - The e-bikes should be thoroughly checked before they are rented out to guests. We were unlucky that the support (i.e. the E) on the bike failed shortly after departure. And please retrofit a bell on the e-bikes, a must for the many hikers. :)

We went here for the second time (my friend the third time) because of the vegan food and the excellent service. We weren't disappointed. On the first evening we had quinoa plants that were so delicious! Everything else was also very good, but we won't forget the planters in a hurry. Non-alcoholic cocktails and wine are also available. I'm always impressed by the service. The employees are friendly and courteous, it's clear that they're treated well and there's a great working atmosphere. I just don't miss anything about the hotel. The sauna and relaxation room are also fantastic. The reception took a package from us because we had gone hiking before and had fresh clothes in the hotel. And we ordered a vegan cake for my friend's birthday which was also delicious. All in all, as always: a wonderful place. I was sad to leave.

Nice hotel. As is so often the case in life, it's the inner values ​​that count. Nice clean rooms. You can start the day in the morning with a comprehensive breakfast. If the weather is bad, you can go swimming or go to the sauna in the wellness area. A massage would also be possible. When the weather is nice, there are great hiking and cycling opportunities in all directions. Also nice routes for motorcycle or convertible tours. We had half board which I can recommend. Very tasty food variations. Nice personel. And above all, dog-friendly, which is a crucial criterion for us as we travel with our four-legged friend. So all in all, highly recommended.

We were able to take our dog next to the dining table during meals, so we also had a relaxed vacation.

The hotel is great. The wellness area is more than exceptional. We can also only recommend the massages, care and beauty offers. Of course it has its price. But it's worth it too.

We have been to the Waldhotel several times and have appreciated the combination of wellness and the vegan food selection. This time we were unfortunately disappointed. The quality and the price-performance ratio have decreased significantly. Food, service and cleanliness do not meet the standards of a 4-star hotel. In the evening we had the vegan 5-course gourmet menu. “Kohlrabi ravioli” was loudly announced to us as the first course. The "ravioli" consisted of thin slices of raw kohlrabi with an indefinable paste in between. We got exactly two ravioli per person, about the size of a 2 euro coin. There were also a few lettuce leaves and rhubarb cubes (which we would see again shortly afterwards during dessert). The second course was a cauliflower curry soup. Then as an intermediate course came a rock-hard frozen pear sorbet with sparkling wine. Red plant components that were as hard as wood were floating in the glass. We fished out the pieces and informed the waiter that they were inedible. He accepted the message in silence. For the main course we had cauliflower and curry again, along with herb tofu, which we had had the evening before. For dessert there was a strawberry sorbet (sorbet again...) with the same rhubarb as the first course. Five courses with always the same textures and ingredients, that's how the kitchen makes it easy. We imagine something different when it comes to a gourmet menu. There are also shortages in other places: our room was dusty and in the restaurant there were always the same crumbs on the wooden partition wall for two days. We saw them, the staff apparently didn't... Sausage and cheese in the “vegan corner” at breakfast are bland and inedible. Unfortunately, quality is compromised here, although there are enough good products. What bothered us most, however, was the poor and sometimes unfriendly service, which really ruined our stay.

Lovingly designed, family-run four-star hotel. The old building was constantly renovated and invested. Beautiful light woods used in combination with old wood. We are excited about the planned expansion and look forward to our next stay.

So, in a nutshell: the rooms are nice, the whole house is very clean and well maintained. Food is ok. Location right on the pass road, rooms at the front are sometimes noisy. Pleasant wellness area. Highlight for us: extremely dog-friendly, namely all employees and almost all guests, including all four-legged friends. We sometimes lacked space for a cozy aperitif (Hubertussaal is set for food or full). Surrounding area great for hiking. Unfortunately, again just my opinion, far too much forest was cut down for huge parking lots, cross-country ski trails, lifts, snow cannons, biathlon shooting ranges and the like. And that (according to the Badischer Zeitung) for exactly 14 days last season.

It is very quiet despite many dogs and children. It's an oasis of well-being ❤.... a few impressions were created with snow. I love winter. See you next time Best regards Martina Zurbuchen

I can't fault anything, good food, great massage, I wasn't promised too much with the Black Forest cherry cake, I say it was the best, right after the one my mother made. The surrounding area is excellent for sports, hikes and beautiful running routes. In winter there are numerous cross-country ski trails available for cross-country skiers.

We were here for the second time. Like last time, the food, the spa area, the massages, the rooms, the friendly service in the restaurant everywhere 110%. We would be happy to come back.

I've been coming here with my parents for quite a few years and each time i can't wait to be back. The staff is very sweet and helpfull, the food is delicious and the hotel itself gives off a very cozy feeling. I'd absolutely recommend this place! :)

Had a wonderful, fantastically beautiful wellness weekend

Very good location in wonderful nature and surroundings. Arrive and feel good. The atmosphere in the hotel is pleasant and warm. We have recharged our batteries and would love to come back.

Bin begeistert. Die Unterbringung war ruhig, sauber und Platzmässig absolut ausreichend. Im Bad gab es bis auf eine efekte Leuchte über dem Spiegel ebenfalls keine Kritikpunkte. Die Aussicht war super zu den gegenüberliegenden Skiliften. Alles schön Schnee gepudert. Als Startpunkt für Schnee Wanderungen, langlaufen oder Abfahrten nahezu perfekt. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Auch bei schlechtem Wetter hat man mit dem Wellness Bereich oder dem beheizten grossen Hallenbad Auswahlmöglichkeiten. Zudem kann man sich dann noch weitere massage Anwendungen hinzu buchen. Wie gesagt wir als Paar waren sehr zufrieden.

We enjoyed a 4 night stay at the hotel. Our familyroom was very clean and well equipped. The bathroom was recently renovated. We had half board; breakfastbuffet has plenty of choice, dinner menu is local and tastfull, always with some courses to choose from. The swimmingpool and wellness are very clean and modernised, we enjoyed it a lot. Greatest asset of this hotel are the staff; the staff at the reception were very friendly and helpfull, the staff in the restaurant/bar are friendly and observant. Staff was very accomodating towards our daughter (2y). Ideally located for walking or skiing (1 piste + elevator across the hotel, Feldberg 20minute drive). Correct value for money!
