We were at the restaurant on Saturday, September 20, 2025, and I regret to say that this was our last visit! Apparently, they don't rely on regular customers (anymore). There's plenty of walk-in customers! The food was truly excellent – ​​highly recommended for its taste 👌. The ambiance is also second to none. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the evening and urgently needed to be replaced or thoroughly briefed. My husband ordered a Spezi and received a Coke-Sprite mix instead. Upon questioning, the waiter rather brusquely explained that it was "common" here because it was a Swabian Spezi. He also referred to Swabian specialties on the menu – which, however, we've still been looking for in vain. Maultaschen? Käsespätzle? Schupfnudeln? Nothing! After a brief search, we couldn't find anything that confirmed a "Swabian Spezi." When we politely pointed out that perhaps something like this could have been said in advance, the waiter responded in an incredibly unfriendly tone: "Then I'll just bring a new one!" – unfortunately, anything but customer-oriented 😳. If the kids hadn't been so excited about playing in the wildlife park and weren't hungry, we would have left immediately. Sorry? We're still waiting for that! By the way, the dishes on the website don't match what I was served yesterday. The menu says: Skimmed potato (mushrooms) with a spicy dip, served with fried chicken breast with mushrooms €16.50 Skimmed potato (smoked salmon) with a spicy dip, served with fried chicken breast with smoked salmon €16.50 The description on the on-site menu is very misleading: "Skimmed potato with a spicy dip, mushrooms, served with fried chicken breast or smoked salmon." I was served a skimmed potato with a spicy dip and smoked salmon! And unfortunately, the Mühlen Kölsch beer from the online menu wasn't available either. That should be changed, please. It's a shame, because the food is truly excellent, but the service still has a lot of room for improvement. A disappointed regular customer!

I can't be any more unfriendly when it comes to my behavior towards guests. Let your business be done. 👎 For a Sunday with so many people, and no seating inside, I think that's really bad.

Unfortunately, very disappointing! The ambiance is quite nice – but the service was abysmal. We weren't greeted or were ignored for a long time. When a man finally came to take our order, instead of greeting us, he asked if the table wasn't reserved. The drinks took a while, and the food (which wasn't particularly good either) was placed on the table without a word. The rest of the staff weren't even remotely friendly. If you're treated like that as a paying guest – sorry, but then there's no tipping and we won't be returning!

What can I say? The staff seemed overwhelmed by everything. The atmosphere was very irritable and tense. We actually wanted to spontaneously grab something to eat because we really liked the ambiance outside, but that quickly faded when a food complaint at the next table was dismissed rather unprofessionally. So we just had a drink, and then waited 35 minutes for it.

The food was okay, but the staff (including the bosses) were overwhelmed and at times unfriendly. Ordered drinks were forgotten and then slammed onto the table, along with cutlery. A real shame.

We were there on Sunday lunch with 10 people. We were told the food would take a while because there was another group there. It went pretty quickly anyway; the staff was super friendly, the food was delicious, and everything was highly recommended.

The shop inside is really nice. The terrace looks like a florist's hidden object picture. You can go there, but firstly, don't expect miracles, and secondly, you shouldn't be easily satisfied. The food is delicious, no question. You can always argue about the value for money, but here it really isn't. When you're charging almost €20 for a burger, you'd expect some fries to go with it. Here: none! The dessert tastes uninteresting. The tip of the iceberg is an espresso that isn't really an espresso. Undrinkable! That's pretty cheeky! Would you go again? Maybe!

You have to be patient, and you don't get all the drinks you order. It wasn't our first time there, and the service has been terrible every time. Even when it's not busy! We waited quite a while for our drinks! The fries and waffles are delicious. Unfortunately, there's not much else positive to say about the place.

During the week, it's nice and not so crowded here. On weekends, when the weather's nice, it's packed and everyone's very stressed, and unfortunately, there's no sign of the friendliness of the weekdays.

We visited the Waldgasthof again. From the outside, it looks like a small, unassuming forest hut. Inside, lovingly decorated with excellent cuisine. The roast pork shoulder was just as good as on our vacation in Pottenstein/Franconian Switzerland!!! Simply fantastically delicious! The meat fell off the bone as soft as butter, and the sauerkraut was deliciously seasoned. The meat sauce was also super tasty. The current seasonal dishes with fresh chanterelle mushrooms, homemade noodles, and pork steak with indecently delicious fried potatoes were also very, very tasty. The Königsberger meatballs were also excellent. And the service was very good, fast, and courteous. Perfect after a lovely walk in the zoo. Michelin-starred cuisine in a small, unassuming forest hut. A very pleasant and unexpected surprise.

Once again, we were sent away. Germany is a service desert. We weren't even asked. We weren't allowed to sit inside because the kitchen was overloaded. We just wanted a drink, but whatever. If you don't want to make money and tell the guest what's not possible without asking what they want... then don't.

A nice park with plenty of play space for children. The guesthouse has a limited menu. Our meal was prepared quickly and tasted okay. The staff is friendly. You have to pay in cash, which wasn't clearly indicated.

I was walking in Tannenbusch with my husband and granddaughter. We actually wanted to have a nice drink in the restaurant. My husband ordered two Cokes from the first waitress. After a while, we ordered again from the second waitress. Again, nothing. Then a waitress came and asked if we had already ordered. My husband said, "Yes, twice." I was about to leave when suddenly, I think, the owner came and asked what was going on. We should leave the restaurant immediately! I said, quite normally, that we just wanted a drink. Then I left again, very loud and aggressive. My husband told him not to talk so loudly, what was going on. The owner suddenly said, "Come behind the house, if you want to cause trouble, I'll show you." We were so shocked by this behavior; other visitors just stared at us. We then moved on. Afterwards, other visitors told us that this was completely unacceptable; the owner had completely overstepped his bounds and was so aggressive. Well, we bought our Coke at the little stand and spent a lovely afternoon with our granddaughter. But we both agree, we won't be visiting this restaurant again 😡

The website says "Kitchen open 6 p.m.–10 p.m.." We arrived at 8:30 p.m. and were sent away because, according to the restaurant, the kitchen had already been closed for an hour. After a half-hour drive, this is very annoying. Please update the kitchen hours or at least state that these are not confirmed times.

The curry vegetables with rice were very tasty and had a nice spiciness. And the price is fair at €20. However, I find it simply outrageous to charge €4.50 for an extra portion of white rice. That deducted one star. The tropical ambiance outside is very nice (but it also smells correspondingly humid).

Some service staff seem a bit overwhelmed when the beer garden is full and respond to guests' questions in an unjustifiably unfriendly manner. The food at the neighboring tables looked very good and the guests seemed to enjoy it. We only had a few drinks.

I honestly don't know where to begin – this restaurant visit was an absolute outrage and ruined our entire family time. From the moment we entered, there was a tense, almost hostile atmosphere. The young assistants – some barely older than my children – seemed completely overwhelmed, exhausted, and like modern-day labor slaves. It was shocking to watch. The food was a bad joke: tasteless, poorly seasoned, and sometimes cold. And when we found a long hair in our plate and politely pointed it out, the situation escalated completely. The head chef stormed out of the kitchen in a rage, yelling at us loudly as if we'd done something wrong – right in front of my children. In the end, we were brutally ordered to leave the restaurant without a hint of apology. My children were so frightened by the screaming that they started crying. Our planned trip to the zoo fell through – they just wanted to go home afterward. This restaurant visit really scared them. I strongly advise everyone not to enter this place. What's happening here is neither hospitality nor gastronomy—it's simply a nightmare.

Everything was top-notch: The food was delicious, freshly prepared, and beautifully presented 😋. The service was extremely warm, attentive, and superbly organized 👌. The ambiance is stunningly beautiful 🩷 – lovingly decorated, surrounded by nature, animal enclosures, and an idyllic beer garden. We felt at home and warmly welcomed from the very first moment 🫶. A full 4 points for the food. It was exceptionally delicious, except for my salad being a bit sandy, but everything else tasted absolutely excellent. The location and the ambiance are also very appealing. BUT the staff and the service were awful. The staff were constantly bickering with each other, which was truly horrible; it ruined everything for us. One of the waiters yelled at us in the restaurant, right in front of us, that he was going home. There was also loud, violent yelling coming from the kitchen. The seemingly newly hired waitresses clearly had no real training at all, often standing there clueless, and somehow doing everything wrong and knowing nothing. Orders were taken incorrectly and booked incorrectly. And they didn't even honor our online reservation, so we had to sit inside instead of outside in the nice weather :-(((( I don't understand why they offer online reservations when you apparently only have to reserve by phone?! Also, I don't understand how a team can work so unprofessionally?! Great food, great location, and then such embarrassingly bad service with the whining and screaming like you're in kindergarten. That's really embarrassing. It's a shame, especially when you're sitting in a restaurant with children. Well, that just wasn't okay, folks :-(((

The Waldgasthaus is located in the heart of Tannenbusch Wildlife Park. It's a classic restaurant with upscale prices, not a snack bar/fast-food restaurant as one might expect given its location. Not necessarily ideal for a family visiting the wildlife park who wants a quick bite to eat with children. "Typical" children's dishes are still offered. The ambiance is rustic. You might like it, but it's not necessarily my cup of tea. The food prices are above average, even for today's times, but the portions are large and the food is delicious. The service was professional, attentive, and courteous, but not particularly warm, which isn't necessarily the case. Overall, the Waldgasthaus is still worth a visit.

Very flexible service. Attentive and friendly at all times. There were five of us there and everyone ordered something different. All the food was great. Prices were acceptable. Nice atmosphere in the middle of the countryside. We felt very comfortable.

Despite celebrations in the restaurant, there was food on the terrace, which only reached our guests with a slight delay. Big compliments to the kitchen! We were there with 14 people and got our tasty food at the same time. Everyone was happy. I can recommend the green asparagus in puff pastry.

I recently ate a waffle with powdered sugar there. It was there less than 5 minutes after ordering. Super tasty and fair price (4€). The waiter was very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was cozy and idyllic, with flowers and greenery everywhere. In summary, the perfect place for a snack and a break after visiting the animal park. Top 👍🏻

We recommend eating lunch as well as the waffles. You should just pay attention to the times. Lunch until 2 p.m. Dinner from 6 p.m.

We were invited to a restaurant with friends on Friday evening. The restaurant was beautiful and lovingly decorated, with a lovely terrace to linger on. The food ranged from traditional to culinary, with something for everyone. Everything was delicious... But!!!! The very unfriendly waitress with false eyelashes... impossible... Her long fake hair was in her food. My wife asked her about it, and she rudely replied, "I don't know how expensive the hair was." And if she had a problem with it, she should go somewhere else. So, dear Tannenbusch team, this person is not a poster child for you. I heard an older man call her Mona or Ramona... She squealed like a piglet through the restaurant... What a shame!!!

So I don't know whether to be irritated or disappointed. Also whether I should really give 1 star or leave it altogether and just stop visiting this house. It's kind of weird. So I call specifically to ask for a reservation at short notice for that late, 8:30 p.m. On the phone they said it wasn't a problem... they just had to let the kitchen know. Then unfortunately circumstances intervened with the bikes, we were about 10 minutes late, only to find out on site that the kitchen had been closed since 8:20 p.m. and had supposedly been waiting for the two of us for an hour. I called about 30 minutes before the appointment. There were a few things that didn't add up when it came to the rejection. Yes, it really felt like I was being rejected. Suddenly the great impression we had from our first visit not so long ago - about the service and the quality of the food - is gone. I never give reviews or feedback, I had no choice here

We were there for a funeral. Everything was excellent. I can only thank you very much. It was opened earlier for us. Everything was beautifully laid out. The food was very good and beautifully prepared. Our wishes were very much taken into account. Also thank you for the great vegan plate. The service was very nice. Yes, it was busy today and the staff was busy, but even after waiting for an hour we had nothing on the table. Only when we asked were we later informed that our order had been forgotten. Longer waiting times are ok when the weather is nice, the staff is busy, but then please take this review to heart and work on your internal processes. If an order is forgotten or lost, the workflow is wrong somewhere. It's my husband's birthday today and we're back home with empty bellies. That was probably nothing.

Today we went to the zoo and the five of us had lunch there. Despite the stress and full house, we were warmly welcomed and served without a reservation. There was something for everyone: schnitzel, great burgers, Asian and home-style food, everything was very tasty. Nice and original atmosphere. Definitely recommended.

We really enjoyed the lovingly furnished dining rooms, very friendly and attentive staff and very good cuisine today. The menu, from down-to-earth to sophisticated, offers something to suit everyone. It was a real surprise for us and we would love to come back. Very happy indeed!

Cocoa is not recommended as it is prepared with water. Waffles are great for that

As of: January 16, 2025 After a long hike with my daughters, who had given me the trip for my birthday, it was difficult for me, but still very nice and we were able to treat ourselves to a nice break. A unique forest inn where we took a break. It is beautifully nostalgically furnished, I have found many things from my childhood, it is very cozy there. My daughter has a young puppy with her, the landlord, we asked if it was okay with the dog, he said yes. All three of us ate homemade Kaiserschmarrn with vanilla ice cream, simply delicious. Service was excellent. I would do it again. It was nice to spend time with the family. We will definitely come back. Parking is free. Today, the 4th Sunday of Advent '24, once again with a whole bunch of family - to several whole geese - stopped there... cuisine, service, atmosphere, everything was great! Of course we didn't expect anything bad. But today was just great, all the main dishes & side dishes as well as ice cream desserts were so delicious, thank you very much!

We didn't know that you could also eat here in the evening. A beautiful cabin in the dark forest - the ambience was 100% in keeping with our pre-Christmas spirit, and the food was very, very tasty. We were served quickly and very friendly. Since we usually only visit the Tannebusch with the children during the day, the evening visit was something very special and interesting for us. It's definitely worth a visit!

Unfortunately, apart from the ambience, the inn is no longer what it was. The Leberkäse burger had no taste whatsoever. The beef burger was cold and the buns were very dry. We were there again after a long time but it was the last time.

Delicious dishes, including some that you wouldn't describe as 'typical forest inn'. Nice service - it took a while last time, but it was also full, with a large company, so it was justifiable.

I don't actually know what it's like there, but unfortunately the restaurant is poorly managed. Reserved a table for 7 people, got a table for 6 people, squeezed in a chair. Ordered drinks and food. Drinks actually came quickly. The waiter should have seen that there were 4 smaller children (2-4). Still got food after 40 minutes. Waiter said he had a lot to do. I asked again, this time from the waitress. The children were hungry, so after a total of 55 minutes I asked if they had even started eating yet. The answer was “no, the kitchen forgot.” Incredible. I paid for the drinks and we went to McDonalds. Dear restaurant team, it doesn't work that way. If you are unable to provide your service and satisfy them, you should think about what the problem is! Maybe you have seating for too many guests that you can't handle. This is greed! I will avoid the restaurant with my grandchildren in the future. I can't rate the food because there was nothing

Total disappointment, the order was only taken after about 20 minutes. The first waiter just sat us down. We later ordered 3 cakes and a waffle, half an hour after ordering, almost an hour of waiting, there was still nothing. We went home with empty bellies. In the future we will only visit the wildlife park.

Today we were at the Waldgasthaus Tannenbusch for the first time. The atmosphere in the beer garden is beautiful, you almost feel like you are in the jungle. The service was very attentive and they really tried to accommodate all requests. And then the food: really amazing. I had the duck, and I have to say: really, really good. Well arranged and really tasty. Even cleverly seasoned. I didn't expect this high quality at all. Clear recommendation from me.

Ich und meine Tochter waren im tannenbusch spazieren zuvor hatte ich einen Tisch im Restaurant bestellt. Wir hatten einen Riesen Hunger. Wir bekamen direkt einen Platz im Freien. Ich bestellte mir den Salat mit Hühnchen Cilli und meine Tochter fischstäbchen mit Pommes. Nach sehr langem Warte Kamm das Essen erst das Essen meiner Tochter dann 10 min später mein Salat. Das fand ich nicht so schön getrennte Zeiten kommt das Essen. Naja egal wir hatten ja sehr Hunger, schließlich kam mein Salat. Schon optisch sah der Salat nicht gut aus, das war mehr eine Salat Suppe. Das Hähnchen war nicht kruspig , nicht angebraten. Einfach in Sweet chillte Sauce geschwenkt und dan heiß über den Salat gegeben. Die Salatblätte waren nicht mehr knackig und schwammen in einer dill Sweet Chili Sauce. Einfach nur widerlich… Ich hatte Hunger aß es trotzdem. Hinzu kommt noch das man und 3 Getränke abgerecht hat statt 2 das fiel mir später auf weil ich schlichtweg enttäuscht war und das Restaurant einfach verlassen wollte. Die beiden Gerichte und 2 Getränke haben mich 25€ gekostet. Ich werde dieses Restaurant nie wieder besuche für mich das letzte mal. Qualität ist anders!!!!!!

Yesterday I celebrated my 70th birthday with 43 people in the Waldcafe. We had a very varied and delicious buffet. The service was excellent. All guests were thrilled. It was nice that we could use the outside terrace. Couldn't be more beautiful. Thanks to the whole team

Hello, dear people. Yesterday I rode my bike to the pine bush. Hurry shoo, now we're going to the pine bush. I haven't been to the Waldgasthaus Tannenbusch myself, but the food is said to be very good there.

Super friendly and fast service! A very good atmosphere. Everything is filled with wonderful plants and flowers. Seating and tables perfectly arranged. Children and disabled people WELCOME! You feel very well looked after. The menu offers a lot, actually far too much. I ordered Wiener Schnitzel with fries and salad. Is the classic in almost every restaurant. €17.90. It came: 1 small, mixed schnitzel with few fries, a side salad that was bland. As a grandma, I was just full. Any young man would not have had enough of it. My little granddaughter - 3 years old - wanted nuggets with fries. €7.90. It came: 5 nuggets with a few fries. There was as much meat and fries on her plate as there was on mine. The proportions don't fit. So I paid €10 for the side salad. On my next visit, I will order: 2 x nuggets with fries. This then makes: €15.80 - instead of: €25.80. The entire calculation doesn't add up.

You can forget...the inn was closed and everything looked desolate. The way there wasn't worth it....only that you can take a nice walk in the forest. But that can happen elsewhere too

We've always really enjoyed staying here. The ambience is still very nice. In all other areas the restaurant is no longer recognizable. Our table reservation was ignored - there was no bread available in advance - the quality of the food had significantly deteriorated - the prices, especially of the Asian dishes, are now significantly more expensive than the Thai restaurants in Düsseldorf. The service makes an effort, but is not qualified for the task. That's really a shame. We'll try again in a few months. Maybe the restaurant management will find its way back to its old strength at some point.

The Waldgasthaus im Tannenbusch is beautifully situated in the middle of the park. The service was very friendly and the food was good thanks for that. The atmosphere with all the wild plants is a real eye-catcher. We would be happy to come back.
