Fährhaus Zons in Dormagen

Unfortunately, our first visit to the Fährhaus Zons was very disappointing. During our meal, an unpleasant incident occurred – a hair on the plate, or rather, on my schnitzel. Instead of an apology, the staff simply responded with a disinterested "Oh!" – which was quite disappointing. I was asked if I wanted something else – of course I did, after all, we were there to eat with friends... The second disappointment came with the bill: For a small bowl of mayo or ketchup (estimated at about 3 tablespoons), we were charged €1.50 each – the same for mustard. This pricing is truly unreasonable and unfortunately seems simply outrageous! The restaurant's location directly on the Rhine is truly beautiful, but given our overall experience, we won't be eating there again in the future. It's a real shame – we were looking forward to a pleasant afternoon.

We went there spontaneously for the first time and liked it so much that we'll be back.

Although the restaurant was sparsely attended, we couldn't choose our seats; instead, we were asked to sit at a table we didn't like. A few "stupid" excuses were used as an explanation. We left the restaurant. It's annoying; some businesses haven't heard the word yet. This wouldn't have happened in the past, with Ms. Rommerskirchen.

The one star is for the location facing the Rhine. We found a free table upon arrival that resembled a simple, older beer tent table set. No nice decoration on the table. We sat for about 20 minutes until our attention was drawn to us and a waitress came are understaffed? You know that! You also know that there is always a lot of tourism on the sunny weekends. I think the prices are way too high. We then decided on our favorite restaurant in another town and were very happy with everything without a view of the Rhine.

5 sticks of asparagus, 3 half potatoes and 2-3 strips of ham with a puddle of sauce for an outrageous €23.50. I ate here for the last time. It's an outrage and a rip off!!!

Very tasty food! Here and there maybe €2 more than usual for a meal like somewhere else, but you shouldn't forget that it's a seasonal business :). Overall we had a great time at the ferry house. Thanks

Today we were able to celebrate our daughter's communion party in the ferry house. From start to finish we felt very well looked after. Agreements were implemented very well The food was sensationally good and the service was outstanding Thank you for the great time and your commitment

Very nicely located beer garden. However, on May 1st, service was extremely limited. Several guests got up and left after a long wait. The majority of service staff were unable to take orders. "We'll send you a colleague" was the statement, always very polite, but not satisfactory. Ordering and delivering three drinks took longer than 30 minutes. Only one of four service staff was able to accept the payments, again of course with corresponding waiting times. Bockwurst and potato salad for €15 are quite an announcement.

I've been there several times and it's always been great, as they say. Only four stars today because I waited an hour and a half to not get a beer. I was simply ignored. When I complained, the waiter just looked at me blankly. I think it was too warm too many people at once. Can happen

Great! Very nicely located on the Rhine, super cozy under the trees in the beer garden. Food and service are top! We were allowed to leave our car in the private parking lot all day. Thank you very much, we will be back and a recommendation is mandatory!

A place where you like to stay. Very nicely located here directly on the Rhine. Very good food, selection of drinks is plentiful and the service is hard-working and quick. Therefore 5 stars. Now with M. 5 stars plus. With J. it would be 6 stars.

Very nicely located on the Rhine. The food came very quickly, but was very expensive (39 euros) for a Wienerschnitzel with asparagus. Potatoes were cold and we immediately got new hot ones that were too salty. Service top. Prices excessive.

Such a shame about this place, great location, I would like to go there often. But the prices are just ridiculous!! Therefore: no go unfortunately.

The service was great, and the view was beautiful. There is parking for bicycles. Very nice garden, great atmosphere. Can't comment on food since we didn't have any, only beers. We'll definitely stop by again.

Not recommended, we ordered food and after 40 minutes we were informed that a meal was no longer available and a table that ordered after us received it.

Unfortunately everyone was overwhelmed. We just ordered drinks and it took them half an hour to find our table. It's a shame actually. Then we went somewhere else to eat.

Gute und sehr leckere Speisen zu hohen Preisen. Sehr zuvorkommender Service 👍🏽 Der Innenraum ist eher rudimentär ausgestattet allerdings in der kalten Jahreszeit brennt am Abend auch der Kachelofen was auch durchaus für Charme sorgt.

We had dinner here on a Wednesday and were very satisfied with the food. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes and the starter (Vitello Tonato) was also extremely well made. The location of the restaurant close to the Rhine is of course inviting and a big advantage, especially in spring and summer. The service was impeccable and attentive. Overall, highly recommended!

Christmas 2023 How lucky we were with our Christmas dinner! We got an appointment at short notice, the food was amazing! The price of starter soup, The main course and dessert were absolutely justified and the portions were generous. The service was very attentive and friendly, the ambience was tasteful. Thank you for relaxing hours. Addendum Christmas 2024: Again nothing was missing. We can only recommend the Zons ferry house! 🤩

Very nice restaurant right on the Rhine. The beer garden is great, but also highly recommended inside. The service is quick and attentive. Very tasty dishes and the apple spritzer looked similar to a cocktail. A lot of effort is put into everything.

We were walking in Zons today with friends and our dog, the Fährhaus Zons is located directly on the Rhine and it looks very inviting, it was no problem taking our dog into the restaurant, the service was very friendly, we ate schnitzel and it was very tasty. It wasn't the last time we were there and we can only recommend it

The location is good. You have a direct view of the Rhine and the ferry station. I can't judge what the house looks like. But outside, the ferry house could use a bucket of paint and some professional renovation. The service outside was friendly and drinks were brought quickly. The hot chocolate was also really hot and delicious. The latte macchiato was also good.

Very nice atmosphere, delicious food and very friendly service

We stopped there for lunch on a day tour with the motorbikes. Himmel un Ääd was nicely presented and delicious. Pear instead of apple was a win for the dish!

Crazy expensive here! It used to be really nice here, but now the price is outrageous: a schnitzel for €31.50? Here? On a beer bench with bad service and a gas station toilet? Mayo 1.50€? Then it's better to visit a Viennese Schnitzel for home improvement in Düsseldorf's beautiful old town. for 19€ and a delicious soup at Robert am Rhein for under 10€. Sorry, but after these absurd price increases it's no longer worth the trip. (understandable that all the other guests I saw today only had drinks) Have a good trip with it 👋

We were only here for a short detour, but then we sat down and enjoyed the shade in the large beer garden... a look at the menu revealed tempting dishes at higher prices, which were also worth the chanterelles from Bruschetta. 😋 The tiny apple strudel, which was offered with vanilla sauce and vanilla ice cream, was rather disappointing - but then came without the vanilla sauce. My inquiry revealed that unfortunately it was out. Ok, that speaks for them, but I would have liked to have been informed, as the vanilla sauce was the deciding factor in my order. So I was faced with a fait accompli - and €9.90 was a lot. 🤷🏼‍♀️

We stopped here briefly on our bike tour today. We actually planned to eat, but changed our mind after looking at the menu. The prices were pretty decent. There was nothing wrong with the service. Friendly and also quick. Unfortunately, the beer garden is getting quite old, which in my opinion spoils the feel-good factor. This would need an overhaul.

After waiting about 1 hour for our food, we unfortunately only received it little by little and it took a while until we finally had everything. A neighbor at the table had a maggot in his salad with cheese and he was promptly served it again after he had left it back. The other table neighbor had old baking paper on the spare ribs and the side salads were not fresh. If you ask for higher prices, the food should be perfect. Of course, you can excuse this with a lack of employees, but then you shouldn't offer so many seating options.

A real highlight on the Rhine! Very well maintained and comfortably run location with indoor and outdoor areas (beer garden). The extremely nice staff! Great menu with daily dishes and unusual creations for the spoiled palate! A big compliment to the kitchen!!! The wine list is also excellent. High quality and enjoyment for the wine connoisseur. Very nice place. Especially to sit outside on a sunny summer evening. You look at the Rhine and the ferry and almost feel like you are in Northern Germany. Or like in Holland. We liked it a lot!

Ate delicious schnitzel. Service very friendly. Pepper cream sauce was really good. However, the mushroom cream sauce lacked a bit of creaminess.

The food was super tasty, it would have been given one more star if there had been some vegetables (except potatoes) as a side dish. Otherwise beautiful and very friendly and happy employees. Gladly again!

Great atmosphere in the garden when the weather is nice. The quality and price of the food have no relationship. For a beer garden, €38 for a Wienerschnitzel or €20 for a rather poor Pinsa is significantly overpriced. The menu, which was put online five years ago, lists the Wienerschnitzel for €19.50 and the Wiener-style pork schnitzel for €12.50 (today €28). Price increases and inflation should not be confused with usury.

Nice excursion restaurant with a beautiful view of the Rhine and the ferry. Service was friendly and the food was OK. However, I've had much better veal schnitzel and I'm not sure why the decorative anchovy has to be mentioned on the menu...

We took a company bike tour there. I made reservations for 15 people early on Friday afternoon. Due to the bad weather (rain) there were only six of us. Some canceled shortly beforehand, others not at all. When we were in the location for about 15 minutes. When we arrived late, we were called at the bike parking area, where we would stay, and also "hit", which is why we didn't let them know that there were fewer of us. I can understand the restaurateur wanting to plan, but for me the situation was so unpredictable... The bad thing about the whole issue is that the shop was almost empty and there was no reason to make stupid comments to the guests. The next thing that got in the way was our bicycle luggage, which was then put away. I didn't realize at first that it was pointed out to us that it was disruptive. I would have liked to clear that up myself. Then there was a brief "unrest" because our smaller group had tables moved around. After ordering, the drinks and food arrived relatively quickly. It should also be mentioned here that it is not only cheeky but shameless and audacious to dare to place a beer glass on the table more than 1 finger below the calibration mark given the very, very high prices. That is not how it works !!! The fact is, you would like to be an upscale restaurant and act like it is, but you will never achieve this status. As a matter of principle I will not visit this store again. The gastronomic landscape in Zons is extensive. There are certainly better hosts.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend the ferry house. The ambience is good and the service is attentive. But the price performance borders on a crime. If I order the most expensive piece of beef and, firstly, I don't ask how I want it and secondly, it comes from the freezer, that's just outrageous. If you charge 10 euros for it, that's justifiable, but soon 40 euros is simply ridiculous.

Very tasty and friendly service. Had schnitzel and spare ribs. The mushroom cream sauce was freshly cooked from the roast! We have nothing to complain about!

Ein schöner Platz für ein schönes Restaurant. Außen und innen kann man schön sitzen, um auf den Rhein zu schauen. Der Service ist bemüht bis zweckmäßig. Das Essen ist sehr unterschiedlich. Die einen bekommen Riesenportionen, die anderen einen Hauch von nichts. Wir hatten z.B. den Zander mit Kartoffeln und grünem Spargel bestellt, Kosten 30,-€ Es kam ein kleines halbes Filetstück, in Größe von knapp 10 Zentimeter und genau 3 dünnen Stangen Spargel, dazu ein paar Kartoffeln. Unverschämter Preis.

A nice place for a nice restaurant. You can sit outside and inside to look at the Rhine. The service is effortless to functional. The food is very different. Some get huge portions, others a touch of nothing. For example, we ordered the pike perch with potatoes and green asparagus, cost €30. It came with a small half-piece of fillet, just under 10 centimeters in size, and exactly 3 thin stalks of asparagus, plus a few potatoes. Outrageous price.

I ordered a cappuccino! Thought it was an espresso because the cup was about that big. And that for €3.80!!! Cheers!

Good selection of food, but in our opinion too expensive to eat with the whole family as part of a spontaneous visit to the beer garden: large fries with mayo for 9 euros, tarte flambée 15.50 euros, bockwurst with fries 12.90 euros, soup of the day 9 euros... Somehow that doesn't fit. But let everyone decide for themselves. We left it with a drink.

Even on a typical excursion day like Father's Day, when all the seats in the restaurant are occupied, you should keep an overview of the service. At the beginning the drinks were delivered incorrectly and it was only when the food was served that we noticed that no drinks had been brought to the table. Schnitzel delivered with wrong sauce, The quality was also probably due to the hectic pace of Father's Day. We will try again when things are a little quieter as the location and ambience are really nice.

Beautiful beer garden. Invites you to take a break under the trees. From there you can see the Rhine and the operation of a Rhine ferry, which was well attended. Super friendly service from the 3 gentlemen. The fresh tarte flambée with graved salmon was very tasty.

We were there for dinner. Very nice restaurant right near the Rhine. A very nice outdoor area that invites you to linger. Nice welcome and attentive service. The food was delicious. The only “point of criticism” was the potatoes with the asparagus, so I would recommend a better variety. They didn't match the quality of the other dishes.

Gestern, Feiertag, schönstes Ausflugwetter, natürlich sehr viel los kehrten wir mal wieder bei unserer Radltour im Fährhaus ein. Es gibt Betriebe, die 'rüsten' sich für den zu erwartenden Ansturm. So auch hier. Wie jedes Mal zuvorkommende, nette Bedienung, Das Essen, teils echt mittlerweile zu hochpreisig( war aber zu erwarten nach der leidigen Mehrwertsteueranpassung), war flott auf dem Tisch, ansprechend dagereicht und schmeckte köstlich. Die 2.Bedienung, die mir meine Espresso brachte, machte nach ein paar Schritten nochmal kehrt, kam zurück u.erkundigte sich, ob meine Begleitung denn nichts bestellt habe, oder das evt.untergegangen sein. Ich komme aus dem Hotelfach, arbeite seit 35 Jahren in der Dienstleistung, und bin immer erfreut zu sehen, dass es dann doch geht! Grosses Lob denBetreibern vom FÄHRHAUS🙏 Immer wieder gern❤️

Auf der (ergebnisarmen bis verzweifelten) Suche nach einem ansprechenden Mittags-Lokal im Großraum Neuss habe ich mich an Zons erinnert und dort auf das Fährhaus aufmerksam geworden. Ich war nie dort, kannte es nur vom Vorbeifahren und selbst das ist viele Jahre her. Ich war überrascht über die sehr schöne Location, den tollen, Lounge-mäßig hergerichteten Biergarten, das ansprechende Interieur und die schöne Atmosphäre im Gastraum. Über die Lage muss man kein Wort mehr verlieren - Top. Wir waren zu dritt, Anlass war ein Geschäftsessen. Der freundliche Service nahm die Getränkebestellung auf und wir orderten zudem einen Brotkorb mit Dip, Oliven und Serranoschinken. Alles fein und frisch. Beim Hauptgang, auf welchen wir leider etwas zu lange warten mussten, gab es eine selbst verursachte Panne, die aber freundlich und professionell behoben werden konnte. So kamen wir doch noch in den Genuss des eigentlich gewünschten Spargels. Qualität und Geschmack des Essens (1x "Himmel & Äd", 2x Schnitzel mit Spargel) einwandfrei. Die unfreiwillig georderten Pommes waren ebenfalls super. Ich komme wieder - geschäftlich und privat.

On April 15th, 2024 we returned to the “Fährhaus Zons” and were pleasantly surprised. Our lunch, two pieces of veal schnitzel with carp apple and anchovy as well as cranberries, fries and salad, was very good and not too expensive at €31.00 per person! (Note the price per kilo of veal!). Our food was served quickly and we were able to enjoy it with a view of the Rhine and a delicious “Peters Kölsch”. We would like to come back because we really enjoyed it. The nice service team and the great ambience are really great. For me, this restaurant is “highly recommended”!

We celebrated our communion with 41 people on April 14, 2024! What can I tell you: the service is TOP 😉 the food can only taste better in a mega buffet, really great portions, everyone was more than full, drinks were served really quickly and the price was PERFECT 😍 DEAR TEAM FROM THE FÄHRHAUS, KEEP IT UP, SO EVERYTHING IS PERFECT 😍 WE THANK YOU FROM THE HEART 💕

We have been to the restaurant several times and have always been very satisfied. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly and everything was clean. After eating there with friends yesterday, we were beyond disappointed. The food was a disaster and the price was outrageous. The service was tried hard, but quite overwhelmed. We always liked to stop there on our bikes, and from now on we'll cycle past it. A pity.

The best schnitzel I've eaten in a long time. I like to drive a few kilometers for this. Very quick service, friendly. I think the price is okay too.

The selection is very limited and vegetarians are hardly taken into account. The food has become very expensive. The service was friendly but overloaded with only a small number of guests! Price performance doesn't match! We used to be there several times, but unfortunately that's coming to an end!

Delicious food and fast service

Leider hat sich sehr vieles im letzten Jahr geändert. Das Angebot als auch die Zubereitung und Präsentation der Speisen extrem nachgelassen, der Service ist hecktisch und unorganisiert. Man fühlt sich schlicht und einfach nicht mehr gut aufgehoben. Es muss einen Inhaberwechsel gegeben haben, anders kann ich es mir nicht erklären. Sehr schade, denn die Fahrt nach Zons lohnt sich allemal.. Nur essen sollte man woanders...

We were literally shocked when we saw your new menu and the prices shown!

We were at the Zons ferry house again today and were really disappointed. The reserved table was not set when we arrived. The menu is very minimalistic, which isn't a bad thing, but half of the menu was "off" so the choice was very limited. In addition, we had to wait about 1 1/2 hours for our food. The service was not professional, the waiter was very rude or rude when we complained. But what was great was the food!! Nevertheless, it is clear to us that unfortunately that was the last time we were guests at the Zons ferry house. A pity!!

We came back to eat here after a long time because we were very excited the first time in November. A lot has changed now, we made reservations 6 days in advance for 11 people and according to the head waiter, half of the menu wasn't available, strangely enough If the others got everything that supposedly wasn't there (very strange), then we waited 1.5 hours until the food came, although we should have been prepared for it because we let them know early enough. The “head waiter” just rested his shoulders on the chef instead of offering compensation, not even offering espresso on the house or anything like that. Well, it's a shame, but we won't be coming anymore - it's a shame - service is spelled in very small letters here!

A very great meal from the daily menu, tuna steak and rack of lamb. Super delicious and both to the point. We were there with our 3 dogs, something like this that is pet-friendly is becoming less and less common. The staff knows their craft 😁

Warnung! 9!Euro für 2 Scheibchen trockenen Apfelstrudel und einen Klecks Sauce. Leider wird dort nur miserables TK -Essen zu überteuerten Preisen serviert. Auf Kritik reagiert die Kellnerin gar nicht.

Delicious food and good service.

Very comfortably furnished and decorated for Christmas. Very friendly and attentive service. As a starter I had goat cheese with salad. Very tasty prepared, luckily I had helpers with the large portion. For the main course I chose the Wienerschnitzel with a very tasty potato salad. At the end there was a delicious cappuccino. There were 7 of us and everyone was happy. I really like the manageable menu with well-chosen dishes. Wish the entire team a peaceful Christmas and a successful 2024.

Parking lot a disaster.Very poorly lit.You had to walk through puddles.It's a shame for such a nice restaurant.Something needs to be done about it.

A beautiful old cottage. The interior is very modern, but also very comfortably furnished. A fire blazed in the oven. The food was really tasty. The starters were creative, for example beetroot in an Asian style. I had vegetarian cabbage wraps filled with lentils and carrots, there wasn't enough cabbage around the wrap for my taste and the filling tasted a bit boring, otherwise everything was delicious...

Gemütliches Restaurant. Sehr netter Service. Wir waren im Winter am Spätnachmittag dort und konnten leider den herrlichen Biergarten mit Blick auf den Rhein und die Fähre nicht genießen. Kommen aber sicher wieder und holen das nach.

Das war ganz gut...hat aber noch Luft nach oben. Fährhaus...öfter mit Hochwasser zu tun...deswegen viel Keramik an Boden und Wand...bisschen Badezimmerflair...aber sonst eigentlich ganz nett. Essen war viel (Riesiges Schweineschnitzel mit zuwenig Champignons, reichlich Fritten und Minisalat. 19 Euro sind ok. Schmeckt aber deutlich nach Fritteuse... Service sehr aufmerksam und nett. Ist aber im Sommer draußen gemütlicher...

Es ist sehr gemütlich im Fährhaus. Das Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Der Service war aufmerksam und freundlich. Selbst unser kleiner Hund durfte mit rein. Wir werden wieder kommen.

Einer der schönsten Biergärten unter alten Bäumen mit Blick auf den Rhein. Auch die Liegestühle im SB-Bereich mit feinem Sand sind eine pfiffige Idee. Das Essen war wieder ausgezeichnet - Rinderschnitzel mit feinen Bratkartoffeln als Tagesgericht sowie Ofenkartoffeln mit überbackenem Ziegenkäse und Limettenschmand mit Salat. Für die gebotene Qualität und die reichlichen Portionen absolut angemessene Preise. Sehr freundlicher und aufmerksamer Service, wie immer. Update 2022: auch unter der neuen Leitung hat man das Konzept beibehalten bzw. behutsam weiterentwickelt. Eine Karte, die auch jüngere Leute anspricht und etwas Passendes in jeder Preislage bietet, dazu sogar noch bayerische Braukunst: ein feines Helles abseits des Mainstreams. Wir persönlich haben seitdem weiterhin nur Gutes zu berichten - sowohl die Küche als auch den Service betreffend. Auch bei einer Gesellschaft von etwa 20 Personen im Oktober lief alles rund. Update 2023: mit den Preisen für das Essen hat man in diesem Jahr m.E. den Bogen überspannt, ich komme aber noch regelmäßig nachmittags auf einen Kaffee oder ein Bier her. Leider sind wir beim letzten Mal ziemlich schnell wieder gegangen, weil die Beschallung im Garten - der wir auch durch Wechseln des Tisches nicht entrinnen konnten - einfach von der Lautstärke her zu nervig war und eine normale Unterhaltung sehr anstrengend wurde. Schade, ich fand es letztes Jahr schöner. Das nervige Gedudel im Außenbereich wurde zwischenzeitlich auch mehrfach von anderen moniert. Als ich am 2. Oktober abends vorbei geradelt bin (praktisch ein Sommerabend, sehr gut besucht), schien es aber aus zu sein - es besteht also Hoffnung.

Der Service ist Katastrophal. 30 min gewartet dass jemand zu uns kommt um Bestellung aufzunehmen. Bedienung einfach vorbei kommt um andere Tische zu bedienen und uns total zu ignorieren. Nach eine halbe Stunde sind wir einfach gegangen. Nicht zu empfehlen.
