Wagu Wagu im Levantehaus in Hamburg

The Wagu Wagu in the Levantehaus Hamburg is a great restaurant for fans of Korean cuisine. The Korean Popcorn Chicken was nice and crispy, and the sweet chili sauce was more sweet than spicy, but still tasty. We particularly liked the fact that Tteokbokki was also fried – yummy The Dak-Galbi (chicken with cheese) was cheesy and perfectly seasoned. The Dolsot Bulgogi was also very authentic in taste and reminded us of the dishes in Seoul. The mandus were also beautifully prepared and tasted great. We also enjoyed the WaWa Tteok-Bokki. Although the employee warned us about the spiciness, we found it pleasantly mild. The staff overall was very friendly and attentive, which made the dining experience even better. Conclusion: Wagu Wagu is definitely a recommendation for delicious Korean dishes in Hamburg!

Just yesterday, by chance and after a visit to the museum, we stumbled upon the Levantehaus again after a long time. When we wanted to go out again on the opposite side, we discovered the Wagu Wagu. Many years ago there was still the Jak Academy for Fashion and Design shop there and in the location. The shop is small, but it's inviting. It was already after 7 p.m., but we were greeted warmly and shown to our seat. Since my companion and I don't know much about Koranic fast food, we wanted to start here. We are actually very impressed with the menu, which doesn't seem to overwhelm you at first glance. Delicious, frequently requested dishes and dishes are displayed as beautiful pictures on the walls. When we serve you get the feeling that our food looks just as fancy and delicious as in the pictures on the wall. We decided to order a few dishes and then share. We had the delicious, sweet and spicy chicken, the Korean popcorn chicken, kimchi, coleslaw, tteokbokki and a bowl with bulgogi, noodles and a delicious tomato sauce as well as two delicious dumplings with dip. Each of these dishes was excellent and from what I heard, this place is probably very close to the South Korean gourmet mentality. The people in front of and behind the counter are friendly and accommodating. Payment is possible in cash or by credit card. We were full and satisfied and will definitely come back. ps. Korean soft drinks from the fridge. I can only recommend it if you want to take your taste buds to 280. I love it!

Went there in the evening to grab lunch. It was really busy, but we got seated away fast. While the menu is small, the food is really flavourful and is brought quickly as well. I got the Rosé Tteokbokki , and it was absolutely delicious. The sauce was sweet and slightly spicy and the rice cakes were soft and spongy. The prices were fair for the portions and I would eat there again.

I think they have the best Rose Tteokbokki and korean Popcorn chicken in town. I've visited this place numerous time with different people to introduce their amazing taste. The place are not that spacious but it's quite comfortable. Sometimes, you have to queue outside on a busy day. But anyway keep up the good work!

Small but really nice! VERY authentic Korean cuisine!

I completely understand that the store is small, but the food tastes above average. But the quantity is ridiculously small compared to the price. The amount is less than half the price of a regular Korean restaurant.

Wagu Wagu is a great place for orders or takeaways, as the deliveries arrive perfectly fresh and ready to enjoy. We had both Bibimbap and dumplings, and really enjoyed the combination with the sauces. Delivery was fast, prices are fair, and taste really good! Only little issue was that we didn’t receive any sticks nor cutlery, which was difficult. Other than that - would totally order again!

Fast service and good value of food at an affordable price, 14.9 euros for such a meal was fair enough. They might have done localization but in a good way. The store is a bit invisible tho.

It's very small there, unfortunately there wasn't any space available, which is why I ordered takeaway. The bibimbap with tofu and egg was super tasty and fresh. :) I'll definitely try out other dishes too!

The food was good, tasty, nothing out of this world. The price is a little high, since the dishes are not large and the service is relative. One has to order and collect at the counter and bring the tray to the end. Also, being a small place, it is noisy and has a strong fried smell, the atmosphere is like that of a fast food restaurant.

Wagu Wagu is a small restaurant where the staff was neither particularly friendly nor rude, but seemed rather neutral. The Korean Fried Chicken was solid, but without any particular flavor. Unfortunately, the portions were quite small, especially in relation to the price. Overall, an average experience where the price-performance ratio is not quite right.

Wenn einen der Hunger auf Popcorn Chicken erreicht und man mitten in der Hamburger Innenstadt unterwegs ist, dann unbedingt bei Wagu Wagu reinschauen! Alles wird frisch zubereitet und ist super lecker. Der Schärfegrad kann gewählt werden und notfalls stehen koreanische Getränke bereit ;-) Die Gerichte sind sehr authentisch und das Personal sehr gastfreundlich.

A Korean "hidden gem" in the middle of the city. The Wagu Wagu is a small restaurant in the Levantehaus. There are only a few seats inside, but there is a terrace. Nice and lively and quick, the food was wonderful. I'll be back!

Very tasty Korean food, it was our first time eating this style and we really liked it. Service was great and requests were responded to spontaneously. The selection isn't big, but it's good. The shop itself is rather hidden and seems a bit small; many guests cannot eat on site at the same time.

The 'Korean Wave' (Hallyu) has now reached Hamburg's gastronomy and more and more opportunities are opening up to enjoy South Korean cuisine. Kimchi, tteokbokki, chicken pieces in various spicy sauces, bulgogi, bibimbap, kimbap, and whatever else you can google are waiting to be discovered. Because of this popular and healthy cuisine, there are already some inauthentic “imitations” that should be avoided. The Wagu Wagu (kor: Mampf-Mumpf) in the Levante House (left entrance) on Mönkebergstrasse is one of the clearly authentic providers. Not just because German-Koreans cook behind the kitchen, but because it tastes like South Korea. Wagu Wagu is part of the bok franchise. Unlike the bok shops, which serve the entire range of Asian cuisine, this one only serves Korean cuisine. The location is in the passage and is manageable with 12 seats. In summer there is also an outdoor area on Mönkebergstrasse. The staff is extremely friendly, willing to provide information and is happy when the guests express their sympathy, for example by saying “ahn-yo ha-say-yoh” (hello, good day) or “Kamsahamnida” (thank you) – which of course is not a must. It's good that you can order the chicken pieces in different portions. The quantity offered in other locations is often more than one could handle alone. What is unusual in Korean is that there are no side dishes (kimchi) or you have to pay extra for them. With five pieces of boneless chicken (called “chicken popcorn” there) with medium hot sauce (yangnyeom), a mini bowl of kimchi and a Cola Zero, I stayed just under 15 euros. The price-performance ratio is right. A great way to stop off on the sidelines of shopping and get rid of that growling stomach. Small but nice! – And Uber Eats delivers too. Card payment possible.

Delicious!! We were 4 people and we tried a little of everything. The chicken with sweet chili sauce, the best. The staff is very attentive. Totally recommended if you visit Hamburg (or if you already live here!)

The food is very tasty even though it is very expensive for the portion you get BUT you are forced to take the food to go when the place is full. And the store is already fully loaded with 10 people. The saleswoman said I should eat the teokbokki on a bench?! But not with something like this where everything splashes around! So I had to buy overpriced water from the neighboring restaurant so that I could eat there in peace. Apparently the neighbor often has the problem too! If you know that you could have a lot of customers if the store were bigger, why not expand it?

The Korean restaurant "More Eat and Go" offers a delicious selection of authentic Korean dishes at fair prices. Perfect for a lunch break, the restaurant impresses with its fast and friendly service. The dishes taste excellent and are freshly prepared. The bibimbap and kimchi specialties are particularly recommended. Despite the simple "eat and go" concept, great importance is placed on quality and taste. A great choice for anyone who loves Korean cuisine and wants to enjoy a delicious meal in a short time.

Realistic korean cuisine. I love the popcorn chicken and bulgogi soup in the menu. To the soup u also get free rice and kimchi, like in Korea. If you miss korean tastes its definitely the place for you

Bibimbap is okay to eat~ It's not a place where you can go and eat because it specializes in takeout. When a Korean person wants to eat Korean food, I think I'll be a little disappointed Korean food tailored to German tastes!

The food is very good. The snack bar is small but nice. Even though the door is open, you are not allowed to enter the snack bar 3 minutes before opening. You are politely but firmly instructed to leave, even though everything seemed to be already there. The lady at the checkout seemed to be already waiting for customers, but unfortunately it wasn't possible. A pity. I always enjoyed eating there.

Leider der Laden ist nun kleiner😥. Ich kann ehrlich sagen, diese "Sotteok and sotteok" (mit Wurst) sind sehr gut frittiert und gleicher Geschmack wie in korea🤤. Bibimbab hatte ich mit Tofu bestellt, die ist nicht einfacher Tofu sondern gebratener Tofu mit soße und sehr<3 Lecker. I ordered tofu bibimbap and the tofu was stir-fried in soy sauce, but it actually tasted like bulgogi and was good! I can't eat spicy food, but the bibimbap sauce was not spicy enough and delicious. Sotteok sotteok is really great... 👍I almost regretted it if I didn't order it.

I love Korean food, but never had a Korean meal so delicious! I don't think I've ever had proper Korean food until this evening. You can tell the veggies were cooked separately, each having its own flavour and the meat is proper meat, not sheds and little bits. And the way they serve food, in these authentic bowls and dishes. Can't wait to go back and try some more food off their menu. I can say now I've tried proper Korean food (until I visit Korea) and I'll know what to look for when I go to another Korean restaurant. Thank you for this experience! Also, their kimchi is so good, the best I've eaten so far. And I've tried a lot of different brands of kimchi, in different places. I love kimchi.

A little small but super tasty.

This place boasts the absolute best Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) I've ever had, no exaggeration. The diverse menu is a delight, and my top picks are Dak Galbi and Teokbokki after KFC. A culinary haven that's genuinely unmatched. 🍗💕

I ordered food to go. It tasted really good and was fresh too. The only thing I didn't understand is that I have to wait outside because I ordered to go??? I had never experienced that before. I would understand if it had been full and the store is really small. But when I was there, all 3 tables were empty and there were only 3 people sitting on the bar stools by the window. I “felt” like I had been thrown out, which wasn’t a nice feeling. That's why 2 stars deducted otherwise it would have been 5.

I ordered there because I heard very good things about Wagu Wagu from friends. Accordingly, I cannot say anything about the on-site conditions or the service. We ordered tteokbokki and the popcorn chicken. The tteokbokki were super tasty. Unfortunately, the chicken was very dry, so it didn't taste good despite the delicious marinade.

After we were at Bok in Eppendorf the day before yesterday, we went here today. You have to bring your time, there are only 12 seats. Again, courteous staff with fantastically delicious food. If you like Thai, you will love Korean.

Sehr leckeres koreanisches Essen! Bin schon mehrere Male dort gewesen und es hat immer super geschmeckt! Nur ist der Kimbap Nachmittags manchmal ausverkauft gewesen.Es gibt leider nur wenige Sitzplätze, aber im Sommer kann man draußen sitzen. Personal immer nett und sehr freundlich!
