In the middle of gray November, the feeling of visiting an open-air restaurant in Italy - that's what the restaurant "Wacht am Rhein" in Koblenz offers. German and Italian cuisine is available here at reasonable prices. Bruschetta €7.90, Penne Amalfi - super tasty tomato sauce with crunchy vegetables such as peppers, zucchini, black olives €13.90, Pizza Tonno - Cipolla (tuna-onion) very large and generously topped, also very tasty €13.90. Alcohol-free Bitburger Radler a bottle for €3.80. We'd love to come back when we're in the area again.

Geweldige plek, lekker eten en goede, snelle bediening. Voor onze groep van meer dan 30 mensen (volwassenen en tieners) was er een geweldig menu samengesteld met een paar keuzes zodat iedereen zijn goesting kon vinden!

We went to the Amalfi Restaurant for coffee and cake on November 8th, 2024 for a big birthday. Luckily, we reserved a table for dinner while we were drinking coffee, as there were no free tables left for dinner. The friendly and helpful staff catered to all of our needs. Now to the food, coffee and cake were very tasty. We all had a different dish for dinner and were more than satisfied. The meals were very tasty and rich. The staff was also very friendly and attentive at dinner, despite the fact that all the tables were occupied and so a lot of people had to be served. People also asked several times if everything was OK or if there was anything else they wanted to order. The ambience in this extraordinary restaurant is simply wonderful. I have never seen such a flair in a restaurant (see pictures). We have now found a new restaurant in Koblenz, we will definitely be back. See you soon

We were there on November 8th. with 3 people here first for coffee and then again in the evening. The ambience in the "Amalfi" is simply extraordinary and beautiful, with a lot of attention to detail. I have never seen anything like this in my not-so-young life. The service staff take service very seriously! In the evening we had meatloaf, master schnitzel and I had sauerbraten. The food came very quickly and was exceptionally tasty. We have found a new local restaurant in Koblenz! Small negative point: Spätzle and red cabbage could have been warmer.

I have visited many restaurants in the world but the decor and ambience are unique... The food is also outstanding... Please keep it up... Absolutely clear, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

An unforgettable evening in the Wacht am Rhein restaurant at the Deutsches Eck Our visit to the Wacht am Rhein restaurant at the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz was a completely successful experience - from the welcome to the last bite. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly young man named Kevin, who unfortunately had to inform us that all the tables were full. Nevertheless, he offered to drop by spontaneously in the evening as tables sometimes became available. Thanks to his efforts, we were able to sit down at 7 p.m. that same evening - a perfect start to the evening. Service and atmosphere: The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and stylish, and the staff immediately make you feel welcome. We would particularly like to highlight the service provided by Linda, who really made the evening special for us with her friendly, attentive and professional service. We have rarely felt so well looked after in a restaurant. Food and Drink: The food was a real delight. The dishes were prepared with attention to detail and tasted excellent - you can tell that quality is important here. The selection of regional and seasonal ingredients harmonizes perfectly with the flair of the Deutsches Eck and makes the meal a real experience. Be it a starter, main course or dessert – each dish was a delight in itself. Conclusion: Our visit to Wacht am Rhein was entirely positive, and we would especially like to thank the team, and especially Linda and Kevin, for this great evening. A visit to a restaurant that will be remembered not only for its culinary but also for its atmosphere. We will definitely eat at Wacht am Rhein again the next time we visit Koblenz – this time with an early reservation!

The first time here and definitely not the last time. Everything is right here from A to Z. The ambience, service and food are just really good and the bill was absolutely okay. We would love to come back here.

I can only recommend the restaurant and am very grateful for the evening I was able to spend here! The ambience is great - outside you have a beautiful view of the Rhine, inside it is rustic and one area looks like you are in Italy. There is something for everyone and a visit is recommended in every season! The food is very tasty and so are the wines! The staff are very friendly and welcoming! The price is right... We'd love to come back and more often ;)

Regional cuisine couldn't be better, top notch.

We were there on the holiday. The table assignment was quick. It took 15 minutes for the service staff to wait until I decided to ask if we could get a card. (the waiters walked past us several times). The only answer I got from a waitress was that it had just arrived and that she would now take care of it. Then the waitress came and took our order. After 2 minutes the next waiter came and asked if we wanted something to drink. What kind of mess is this in this restaurant?? Just put 6. once and never again. And be careful, check your invoice on the tables on the left and right. Something was billed incorrectly and it was only corrected when the customers informed us. You should think about how to improve a service.

Average restaurant. Huge menu from home cooking to Italian dishes. I couldn't get enough of the large salad with strips of schnitzel.

The service is very attentive and friendly. We had ordered currywurst, which tasted good, but there were only 5 small pieces in it, it looked like only half a currywurst per portion. That spoiled the whole thing a bit. But otherwise a really nice restaurant.

Wacht am Rhein is absolutely recommended! I eat there myself more often and bring new guests there. Everything is right here, ambience, friendliness, price-performance ratio!

Big disappointment, we were there with a lot of company, we were cold and freezing because we were seated in the door area in sub-zero temperatures. There was NO response to requests/inquiries. The food itself was delicious, but I forgot dessert!! We were looking forward to a nice evening, unfortunately quite disappointed 😞

Unfortunately, schnitzel was molded meat

The ambience is nice but the service was honestly a disaster. Each one was more unmotivated than the other - you didn't feel very welcome. The coffee was really not good and the pumpkin soup only tasted like carrots and water. The toilets were worse than at any rest area, so we actually gave up - that has never happened to me in a restaurant. Very unfortunate.

The food was plentiful but not special, the price was reasonable, and the staff was a bit overwhelmed when the restaurant was full.

The food is basically OK, good home-style and without any outliers up or down. It's good that the restaurant consists of an Italian and a German "part". Due to the location there is a relatively large number of tourists. But what is ABSOLUTELY not possible is the poor cleanliness. The tables and menus were stuck as if there was a film of grease over them, which we noticed on a previous visit. Service very nice

Wonderful location on the Rhine and a concept with a unique selling point: A winery with good home cooking paired with an Italian restaurant. You can freely choose from a shared menu. So my wife had a delicious pizza and I had the fried potato pan, we can recommend both, as well as the home-made schnapps to finish it off.

The boss was very quick with the order, our food came relatively quickly and was very tasty 😋 The price was also completely ok

We were happy to be with you again today, as always. My favorite dish: Liver with mashed potatoes, which doesn't come from a bag but is fresh. Unfortunately my food was almost cold today, so I more or less wolfed it down because I was hungry. When asked by the staff, I also mentioned this and was asked again what I had eaten, but it stayed at that, not even a "sorry", hence a star deduction. But we'd love to come back.

Hatten uns auf die guten Bewertungen verlassen und wollten da etwas essen. Bekamen einen Tisch zugeteilt, welcher aber schon seit einiger Zeit kein Wasser mehr gesehen hat. Die Speisekarte klebte so, dass man sie fast nicht mehr von den Händen los bekam. Aber der Höhepunkt kam beim Gang auf die Toilette. Wir haben so eine stinkige Toilette noch niemals gesehen oder gerochen. Hatte schon Wochen keine Reinigung erfahren. Das hat für uns bedeutet, wenn die Toiletten so sind, kann die Küche nicht besser sein ( Toilette Spiegelbild der Küche). Wir sind dann unverrichteter Dinge wieder los.

The ambience inside is impressive, decorated with great attention to detail. The food itself was very good, with the right service staff this also worked well. I can recommend that you reserve better in advance.

Ich war bereits dreimal dort. Ich gehe ins Restaurant nicht nur wegen des Essens sondern auch wegen der Atmosphäre. Die Dekoration ist wunderschön. Es gibt viele Essenoptionen und sie sind köstlich. Ich empfehle das Restaurant auf jeden Fall!

Great restaurant. Stopped there spontaneously after a trip to Koblenz. The table wasn't the best, right by the door, but that was because we didn't reserve and the place was full. So everything is good. Drinks and dishes arrive very quickly after ordering and are of top quality. Rarely experienced like this! Hats off to keep it up… we’ll definitely be back.

Wir, 6 Freunde, haben uns auf die Empfehlung der Touristikinformation verlassen und einen Tisch im Restaurant Wacht am Rhein für ein "gemütliches" Abendessen gebucht. Wir wurden sehr enttäuscht. Es fing damit an, dass wir an einem Tisch platziert wurden, der im Durchgang zu den Außenplätzen stand. Nicht nur die Mitarbeiter sondern auch die Gäste der Außenterrasse nutzen diesen Weg zur Küche und zur Toilette, was sehr störend war. Der Tisch klebte und auf unseren Hinweis wurde uns gesagt, das dies leider nicht zu beheben sei, da er mit Pflegemittel behandelt sei und dass das leider klebe. Der einzige Lichtblick in diesem Lokal war die wirklich sehr bemühte Bedienung. Das Essen war nicht das, was wir uns von diesem Lokal versprochen haben. Es ist nicht zu übersehen, dass das Lokal auf Massentourismus ausgelegt ist und ihm die versprochene Exklusivität fehlt. Schade, aber wir können diese Lokal nicht weiterempfehlen 

We ate there twice during our vacation. You can eat Italian and good home-style food, which is what we did. The food was very tasty, great ambience inside and outside and friendly and attentive staff. Price-wise, completely okay… We can only recommend it!!

Food was really very tasty. Unfortunately, the reservation for table 9, which was made 4 weeks in advance, was canceled on September 30th. didn't work... A regular guest was preferred here. What's even more annoying is that you don't get a call back in such a case, then I could have planned something else. A small concession as an apology (e.g. in the form of the wine we ordered...) was not forthcoming. ….too bad!

Hey Nice location, delicious food. Unfortunately our beer was a bit spicy, the cellar didn't believe us and only responded by shrugging my shoulders. It's a shame, good service doesn't work that way. You can't recommend the liqueurs, it's just a tourist deception, it looks good, it tastes terrible. Toilets are clean.

Good service, super delicious food and a wonderful ambience. We sat as a group in the Italian section of the restaurant. We felt very comfortable and the food was wonderful. On a previous visit we sat outside on the patio. Magnificent view of the Rhine. Best location. Home-style German cuisine paired with equally great Italian cuisine. Everyone will find something here. Prices are at normal levels.

The five of us ordered two main courses and shared them. Each extra plate, even 4x 2 euros extra fee. 8 euros for a few glasses and clean plates? Impudence! We only know something like that from Italy. Otherwise sticky table and very salty food. Not recommended.

Overall, it’s very good. Koblenz is also a city you can visit when traveling in depth in Germany. This restaurant has a lot of traditional dishes, so you can try different regional styles.

If you like delicious and hearty home cooking, this is the right place!! With a direct view of the Rhine and the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, just a few meters from the German corner in a great ambience at reasonable prices...recommended! The Watch on the Rhine

We went there for dinner with a larger group (42 people). We had reserved. Everything went well, fast service, good delivery and quality of the food. Towards the end, the service became a bit annoying with questions about whether we could have anything else.

A restaurant in a prime location, unfortunately the food is mediocre but you can eat it. The service also leaves something to be desired. But since the restaurant is in the first location on the Rhine and many tourists come there, they can apparently afford it.

Good home cooking. The mashed potatoes for the beef loin were homemade, the beef liver and also the "beef shreds" were tender and tasty. Unfortunately, the fried potatoes were not fresh from the pan and therefore not crispy. The service was friendly, but didn't give us a minute between the salad as a starter and the main course.

Family with two small children... Everyone is full and happy. Attentive service. I'm happy to tip ;) Generally, great value for money. Finish with schnapps. Clear recommendation! Unfortunately we live too far away, but we'll come back when the opportunity arises :)

The table reservation was easy and understandable online. They tried very hard to get us a nice seat at the window with a view of the Rhine and the opposite bank. The service was very friendly, unfortunately one person lacked some knowledge of German, which meant that 50% of our orders were delivered incorrectly. However, remedial action was taken immediately and in a very friendly manner and we even apologized with a free drink. The strawberry limoncello spritz could have had a little more in the glass for €9. Therefore definitely recommended.

Have on September 13th. ate there. Definitely a recommendation for high-quality Rhenish dishes, fantastic location, excellent service and great ambience. Our top recommendation is the Rhenish specialty “Himmel und Äd”.

Atmosphere, food, everything was just great

Maybe it was the time of day (just before 6 p.m.) or we were just unlucky, but at least the minced steak with fried potatoes was probably one of the worst things I've ever had: dry, unseasoned minced meat, rubbery fried potatoes and a fried egg that had probably been cooked for hours was kept warm. The 1/2 liter Moselriesling was so flat that we left half of it standing. “Heaven and Earth”, i.e. black pudding and liver sausage, were at least ok. The service expressed regret about the complaint, but there was no reaction/compensation. I felt like a tourist, which unfortunately obscured all possible positive aspects.

A few days in Germany, and our concerns about poor treatment of foreigners was born out on several occasions. Eating at this restaurant was the final straw. Even trying what little German we knew ( I'm half German myself ), it was not good enough for our server. He was rude, condescending and aggressive. Worst restaurant experience ever. He was all smiles with the the German customers of course, but he wanted nothing to do with us. We tried to complain to the owner, but she had caught wind of our discontent, and avoided us like the Plague. We finally cornered her, but she waved her hands around and said 'No!', and ran away. Why was she protecting him? I'll leave that to the imagination... FWIW, other staff...mostly foreign workers, were friendly and gracious, and sympathised with our predicament. Disheartening. Back to France tomorrow...Shang-gra La... compared to Germany.

The ambience and service were great, but unfortunately the food wasn't as good as we had hoped. We had the feeling that it wasn't freshly prepared. In addition, the portions were very small, which meant that you were still hungry after eating.

The calibration mark is not for the foam on the glass! Overall, the service was extremely inattentive. Forgot about us several times, brought starters without plates or cutlery, and only brought drinks after 30 minutes. We had to get the waiters' attention several times and remind them what we wanted over 20 minutes ago. We didn't have any great demands. The food was okay, but not a highlight. Much more can be expected for the price. Everyone seems to be extremely overwhelmed. But the criticism goes to the management and not to the employees! Apparently the staff wasn't clearly assigned to games, they were really running all over the place from table to table. The restaurant and the terrace are really huge. The Amalfi next door is one of them and so the employees unfortunately have an absolutely chaotic job, which the guests also feel.

My wife and my twelve year old daughter went to this place. Opening the menu we found ourselves faced with something of very bad taste. The list of pizzas listed "Pizza Mafia". I would like to suggest to the owners of this place to replace the wording of this pizza with perhaps pizza Venezia, or pizza Roma or perhaps pizza Ferrari, but there could be many more suggestions. Having said that, I would also like to suggest that the pizza chef attend a course to improve his craft, given that some frozen pizzas are much better than the one you propose. Not recommended!

Sehr geehrte Frau Hellmann, sehr geehrter Herr Smuda, herzlichen Dank an Sie und Ihr Team, die unsere Gruppe (30 Personen) gestern (leider ja ohne mich) hervorragend bewirtet hat. Auch die Kommunikation im Vorfeld war unkompliziert und ließ/lässt nichts zu wünschen übrig, sodass ein reibungsloser zeitlicher Ablauf garantiert war. Alle waren höchst zufrieden mit dem leckeren Essen und werden gern ihr Restaurant bei einem nächsten Koblenz-Besuch wieder aufsuchen bzw. auch weiter empfehlen. Und ich hoffe, dass ich demnächst die  kulinarischen Genüsse selbst erleben kann. Herzliche Grüße Angela Volp

We've been there 4 times now. Food and service are top

The food was good and everyone was full. Service was friendly and professional. For 5 stars you could have been asked more attentively if you needed anything else. But it's not worth mentioning. All you can say about the ambience is that it was really authentically Italian. The whole interior makes you feel like you're in the back alleys of Italy. There was even a Vespa and an old Fiat500 in the premises. And then the view. Really great. We were just visiting friends in Koblenz and found that the restaurant rounded off the evening nicely. Is still recommended.

We werden hier door een bus firma gedropt maar waren zeer aangenaam verrast in tegenstelling tot andere locaties die men voor ons koos.. Mooi gezellig en goed beschaduwd terras. Binnen zag het er supergezellig uit. Heel net ook. Zeer vriendelijke bediening die vlot verliep ondanks de groter groep. Eten lekker, correcte porties, vers gemaakt. Goed centraal gelegen om nog paar leuke plekken te ontdekken. Hier zouden we tergkeren.
