Great three course menu. The roulade was a delight. Very attentive service and the chef personally inquired about our satisfaction. Gladly again.

Chef Daniel Webels surprised my husband and me with a colorful multi-course menu that left absolutely nothing to be desired! There was everything there that would make a gourmet's heart beat faster: caviar, oysters, lobster, Wagyu, sole,...accompanied by selected wines and a very friendly team. Thanks to Susanna Goesmann, managing director of the Engel in der Burg in the Parkhotel Engelsburg, Daniel, service manager Sebastian Benz and the entire team for this unforgettable evening. You are an enrichment for Recklinghausen. Keep it up!

It was a special experience. Culinary and particularly noteworthy service! Annika Rataj and Lena Thiel, thank you! It is no longer usual these days that the chef personally came to each table after the meal and asked questions. A return is certain.

I had dinner there with my wife on Saturday. We chose the fantastic 5-course menu with wine accompaniment, it was excellent. The chef himself came to our table to make sure everything was OK, a very friendly, professional man who gave us a wonderful evening with his creations. We will definitely come regularly and let ourselves be enchanted.

After a long time we visited the restaurant “Engels in der Burg” again, which recently had a new chef (Daniel Webels). It is always a pleasure to dine in this elegant restaurant. We were warmly greeted by the restaurant manager, Mr. Benz, and shown to our table. After a short conversation our champagne arrived. This time we tried the à la carte menu. As always, we were pampered by the creative cuisine and the entire service team and were able to feast the whole evening. I don't want to write anything about the food, the pictures speak for themselves. At the end of the evening, Mr. Webels came to our table and briefly introduced himself. It was a wonderful evening that we will definitely repeat more often.

I had the pleasure of the restaurant Visiting "Engels In der Burg" and all I can say is that the food was excellent! The beef fillet was cooked perfectly and looked very attractive too. The wild boar fillet was also very good and exceeded my expectations. A special highlight was the greeting from the kitchen - a real taste explosion! The service could be expanded a bit, but the overall package is right. For dessert I tried the chocolate mousse variants, which were very filling; One serving is definitely enough for two. All in all, a successful evening that I can only recommend!

I was a guest in this great restaurant today. It started with a warm welcome and 2 great greetings from the kitchen, where you immediately feel that there is someone in the kitchen who clearly knows what he is doing there. The main course was visually a feast for the eyes and tasted sensational. .

I was a guest with two other people in the Engels restaurant in the castle and was treated to two greetings from the kitchen, followed by a sensational 3-course menu. You can tell that an expert is at work here 👍 Not to mention fabulous service Keep it up 👍 We are regular guests from now on 👌

We went to the "Wild Evening" at Engels in der Burg: various game dishes, some served at the table, some in buffet form. Ambitious cuisine, extremely friendly and professional service, good wines (not exactly cheap), this combination is unfortunately rare in Recklinghausen. The included aperitif was a great introduction, the saddle of venison in a herb crepe coat was my personal favorite. Soft pink inside, buttery soft and aromatic, despite the presentation in buffet form. Here and there the seasoning could have been a little more refined, but all in all an enjoyable evening that was worth the money.

We went for the Wednesday menu: excellent cuisine with a culinary experience (2 Amuse Gueule, excellent saddle of venison), very friendly service, convincing price/performance ratio. Gladly again!

This year's "Vest Menu" with the Vestischen Weinkonvent took place today in the Engels Restaurant. We were thrilled with the 4-course menu, both by the quality of the food and the quantity of portions, which for me could have been less. The visual presentation was particularly great. The chef Daniel took the time to communicate with the guests. I have already booked another menu in November.

We award the stars for a really good, tasty and lovingly served meal (main course very clear in terms of quantity). However, there were quite long waiting times, which were shortened before the soup, with two greetings from the kitchen. At the end the chef came to the table, questioned our food and told us about his future plans and made recommendations. We found it absolutely negative that the wines were poured extremely sparingly (no calibration mark, so that's just our feeling) at exorbitantly high prices, e.g. the red wine, a Palatinate "Incognito" a bottle for €13, beats Engels i.d.B. per glass with 0.2L? Book for €18! That leaves a bad aftertaste. Our recommendation; Keep your eyes open when it comes to wine (the other drinks were within the usual range), it's best to ask for the wine list, then you'll be safe from such surprises, then the whole thing will be a nice, enjoyable evening, with competent, friendly service in an upscale atmosphere.

Yesterday we were guests at the “Wild Evening”. The quality and presentation were a dream! Quite remarkable: the chef took his time with everyone and went from table to table! Gladly again!

A successful (wild) evening! The two of us enjoyed the game evening yesterday. Everything was perfectly prepared and tasted extremely delicious. My highlight was the wild tail fillet with the porcini mushroom sauce. Our conclusion: first-class cuisine, very professional but still personal service in an absolutely stylish atmosphere!

On our last visit we had a Wiener Schnitzel, the best of its kind outside of Vienna. The potato salad with it is not the usual warmed one but crunchy with a subtle note of mustard, very refreshing. Overall a great evening

We were as a couple in the Engelsburg restaurant on September 21st, 2024. ...ordered a 3-course menu and were extremely satisfied. The ingredients and preparation of the dishes were excellent. The service, the ambience and the delicacies completed the overall picture. Thank you very much for that!

I recently visited a restaurant and I have no words to describe how great my time there was! The chef really surprised us with his culinary masterpieces. The truffle and shrimp linguine was to die for — the pasta was cooked to perfection, and the combination of aromatic truffle and fresh shrimp created an incredible flavor that will be remembered for a long time. Furthermore, the service was excellent. The staff was attentive and friendly. The location of the restaurant is also very successful — an atmospheric place with a cozy interior, ideal for both a romantic dinner and a meeting with friends. Overall, I absolutely loved this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy exquisite cuisine and excellent service!

The four of us sat in the courtyard of the hotel. That was really very nice. The service is very attentive. All the food came at the same time on preheated, very nice plates. The dishes were wonderfully prepared. Unfortunately the taste is a bit disappointing. The names of the dishes and the prices promise a first-class culinary experience. That is definitely not the case. The selection of ingredients may be special. However, the restaurant doesn't seem to be able to bring these together into a harmonious composition. Too bad.

Yesterday we went to Engels in the castle for the first time for a Latin American barbecue evening. It was an absolutely perfect summer evening in the castle garden. Courteous, friendly service and a fantastic ambience at the Engeslbrunnen, which gave us a special holiday feeling. The grill buffet was unusual and very, very tasty. We have booked the next barbecue evening straight away. ☺️

We visited the Engels restaurant in the castle again on Tuesday and were very impressed again. The new menu impresses with great dishes, such as the “Caught zander on black pudding risotto” and “Two kinds of venison with pointed cabbage and homemade Schupfnudeln” that we selected. First of all, we decided on Vitello Tonnato, which was served once as a tartare and once in one piece, and a wild garlic tea with dim sum. Everything is super delicious. We were treated to fine wines by the super friendly service. The ambience with velvet sofas is cozy and homely. We also think it's particularly great that increased emphasis is placed on animal welfare, sustainability and regionality when selecting products. Commendable and worth supporting!

Exceptional service combined with perfect food. Annika makes a special evening the perfect evening. We drive here for 2.5 hours because it is always an experience. The attention to detail and the incredible service is an absolute unique selling point. Whether with or without children you simply feel welcome and it is always an experience. Thanks to the team!

Great service, very attentive and informal. Although we have often eaten in Recklinghausen, it was our first visit to Engels. But we will definitely come back. The service was very pleasant and available at any time. The food was really very good (the tartar 1A) and in a good portion size. There were also various intermediate courses and attentions such as sea buckthorn sorbet from the kitchen. Keep going as you are, improve little things!

An upscale restaurant with very good cuisine and very good service. The ambience has slight hints of the 80s, but is consistently upscale and appropriate. There is a pleasantly relaxed, casual atmosphere. Whether the background music needs to be unobtrusive is certainly a matter of taste. The only (and relatively insignificant) point that I noticed is that the espresso cup apparently wasn't preheated and therefore my espresso cooled down relatively quickly. But the taste of the espresso was perfect. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

We went to the restaurant with friends last week. We already knew Angel in the Castle as a Vesttafel from the menu carousel. The ambience has been made even more open and inviting. The food is simply excellent. The advice and hospitality provided by the staff is professional, very friendly and unobtrusive. As a whole, Angel in the Castle is certainly the top address in Recklinghausen at the moment. We'd love to come back. Thank you for the hospitality!

We had dinner there with friends yesterday and we all had the 4 or 5 course menu, some with accompanying wines. The individual courses were so delicious😋😋😋, so beautifully presented🤩🤩🤩 and the accompanying wines went perfectly with it. It's a great art that everything is so perfectly coordinated! The atmosphere is very pleasant and the service is absolutely top ❗️ And we think the prices are very fair for what you get there ❗️ Absolute recommendation! We were there again 14 days ago for our anniversary. As always, it was a successful evening. The desired 4 course menu became 6 courses. The recommended wine was a delight at its finest. The service was attentive, communicative but not intrusive. We always enjoy coming there. Anyone who appreciates good cuisine will definitely not be disappointed.

Nach mehreren Monate Pause haben wir das neue Engels besucht und ich bin begeistert. Das hohe Niveau des Services hat sich nochmals gesteigert. Unsere Bedienung hat uns tadellos und angenehm durch den Abend begleitet, vielen Dank dafür! Das Ambiente hat sich sehr positiv entwickelt, die von mir zuvor kritisierte Beleuchtung wurde komplett geändert, die Einrichtung ist modern, aber äußerst gemütlich. Die Akustik ist vorbildlich und entspannend. Die Speisen waren qualitativ auf hohem Niveau, sehr kreativ, perfekt arrangiert und geschmacklich spitze. Wir hätten uns schon am Brot mit Kräutercreme satt essen können. Preislich ist das Engels am oberen Ende der Skala in Recklinghausen angesiedelt, aber dennoch preiswert. Ich hoffe, dass wir hier noch viele schöne Abende verbringen dürfen.

Immer mal wieder gehen wir im Engels in der Burg gerne essen. Wir informieren uns auf der Webseite im Vorfeld, welche Gerichte gerade angeboten werden. Denn die Karte wechselt saisonal. Schon alleine für das fantastische, originale Wienerschnitzel lohnt ein Besuch. Man sollte wissen, dass die Preise etwas gehobener sind, dafür stimmen die Geschmacksexplosionen im Mund. Abgerundet mit einem leckeren Getränk, einem hervorragenden, niveauvollen doch lockeren Personal ein gelungener Abend. Schön war auch, es wurden auf Wünsche eingegangen. Und wir durften noch gemütlich am Platz sitzen bleiben und wurden nicht zur Eile aufgefordert. Wir kommen definitiv wieder. Nicht oft, denn der Besuch zum Essen ist immer etwas besonderes. Zum Glas Wein im Sommer auf der Terrasse aber des Öfteren.

Der 'Freaky Tuesday' im Engels in der Burg war ein genussvolles Ereignis! Die Speisen waren kreativ köstlich und der Service wie immer zuvorkommend und professionell. Am Samstag für das Menükarusell einen Tisch reserviert. Alles hat wirklich ausgezeichnet geschmeckt. Jeder Gang war hervorragend, die Weine zum Menü passten sehr gut. Der Service hat mit guter Beratung und Freundlichkeit überzeugt. Ein wirklich schöner,gelungener Abend.

Wir haben bei dem Menü Karussell mitgemacht und waren total begeistert. Leckere Weine und ein tolles Essen, dies wurde nur noch von dem unglaublich freundlichen Personal übertroffen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und freuen uns auf weitere schöne Abend in der schönen Atmosphäre des Restaurants.

Tolles Restaurant auf Sterneniveau. Sehr freundlicher, aufmerksamer, aber unaufdringlicher Service. Hervorragend arrangierte Menüfolge mit toll angerichteten Tellern vom Amuse Geule bis zum Dessert. Die Weinkarte kann sich ebenfalls sehen lassen. Ein schönes, warmes Ambiente macht etwas Besonderes aus einem Abend. Einen halben Stern Abzug gibt es für die völlig gruselige Stufenbeleuchtung sowie die teilweise unangemessen hohen Preise. Ein kleiner Teller Suppe (wenn auch hervorragend) für 17 € ist völlig überzogen.

Schulnote 1 mit Sternchen. Sehr stimmiger Abend mit großartigem Essen (Inspirationsmenü), gut abgestimmter Weinbegleitung und makellosem Service. Für uns herausragend waren in dem Menü der Auftakt mit der Gänseleber und im späteren Verlauf dann das Bisonfilet. Uneingeschränkte Weiterempfehlung und wir kommen gerne wieder.
