Als Gäste des Parkhotels Engelsburg konnten wir es uns natürlich nicht nehmen lassen, auch das Restaurant Engels zu besuchen ,und was sollen wir sagen: Es war ein rundum gelungener Abend. Bereits bei der herzlichen Begrüßung fühlten wir uns willkommen. Das Ambiente ist einladend, und am Tisch erwartete uns ein hervorragend zubereitetes Essen, das nicht nur optisch überzeugte, sondern auch geschmacklich auf ganzer Linie begeisterte. Jeder Gang war ein Genuss. Der Service war während des gesamten Abends aufmerksam, professionell und ausgesprochen freundlich. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir jedoch Kascha. Mit ihrer charmanten, herzlichen und zugleich humorvollen Art hat sie unserem Abend eine ganz besondere Note verliehen. Ihre natürliche Leichtigkeit, ihre Aufmerksamkeit und ihre Ausstrahlung machen sie zu einer Gastgeberin, wie man sie nur selten erlebt. Einfach echt. Unser Dank gilt dem gesamten Team für einen köstlichen, entspannten und ausgesprochen unterhaltsamen Abend. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder und können das Restaurant Engels uneingeschränkt empfehlen.

Ich wurde heute von meinem Sohn zum Muttertagsbrunch eingeladen. Schon am Eingang wurden wir sehr herzlich empfangen und zum perfekt eingedeckten Tisch geführt. Die Speisenauswahl war fabelhaft.Das Angebot an Getränke ebenfalls. Das Personal war, wie immer, top aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Mein Sohn war auch ganz begeistert von dem perfekten Vormittag, sodass es sofort klar war, nächstes Jahr sind wir wieder dabei.

Wir waren heute zum Muttertagsbrunch hier und es war einfach hervorragend. Die Auswahl war top, aber ein absolutes Highlight muss ich hervorheben: Der Lachs im Blätterteig war der Wahnsinn! Kompliment an die Küche, das war handwerklich perfekt und geschmacklich nicht zu toppen. Wir kommen definitiv wieder.

Wir waren zum Menükarussell zu dritt. Sicherlich , es war ok. Handwerklich einwandfrei. Dennoch haben wir mehr erwartet zu dem Preis. Das Steak meines Mannes im Hauptgang hatte definitiv keine 200 g. Die Beilagen kaum zu sehen auf dem grossen Teller. Die Fischportion war ok..aber hey , die Beilagen teilweise nicht erkennbar wenig..Das ist unnötig!. Wir waren die letzten Male so begeistert von der neuen Leitung und hoffen das es so bleibt. Schön wäre auch gewesen wenn wir den Wein zum Hauptgang nicht erst nach Aufforderung erhalten hätten und die wirklich freundliche Bedienung etwas besser über die Weine Bescheid wüsste. Kann man bei euch erwarten. ! Ich sage , dann bis zum nächsten Mal

Mein Lieblingsrestaurant in Recklinghausen, besonders die Terrasse hinten im Garten ist der Hammer, auch in der Übergangszeit, wegen der Outdoor Heizung, perfekt für gemütliche Abende bei super Essen und einer schönen Flasche Wein!

Wir kennen schon seit vielen Jahren das Restaurant Engels in der Burg. Es ist immer wieder ein Erlebnis, dort zu speisen. Die Einrichtung ist modern und edel. Alle Gerichte sind frisch und kreativ angerichtet. Ob man das Menükarussell, ein A-la-Carte-Gericht oder ein Gänge-Menü bestellt, jedes Mal ist es eine Freude, dort zu essen. Das gesamte Team des Restaurantleiters Herrn Benz ist sehr freundlich, zuvorkommend und kümmert großartig um die Bedürfnisse der Gäste; auch persönliche Gespräche werden hier großgeschrieben. Die Atmosphäre im Restaurant ist sehr schön und der Geräuschpegel eher ruhig, so dass man den Abend und das Essen genießen kann. Wir kommen immer gern wieder!

Tisch34 Meine Frau und ich waren gestern Abend zum Menuekarussel im Restaurant. Das Essen und die dazugehörige Weinauswahl war hervorragend.d. Die Atmosphäre war schön, ruhig und man konnte sich gut unterhalten. Der Service war unaufdringlich aufmerksam. Herr Benz kann stolz auf sein Team sein. Wir freuen uns schon auf unseren nächsten Besuch.

Grundsätzlich ist das Ambiente wunderschön und gibt keinen Anlass zur Beschwerde. Nur die Tatsache, dass die Räumlichkeit nicht ausreichend geheizt wird, lässt jede Behaglichkeit für ein schönes Abendessen schwinden. Ein Tisch ohne Arretierung der sich bei jeder Bewegung dreht, ist sehr unangenehm. Da wir das Personal nicht darauf aufmerksam gemacht haben, soll das nicht als Kritikpunkt sondern als Information für neue Gäste verstanden werden. Die Küche ist grundsätzlich gut, bedauerlich ist nur, dass sofern Mängel angesprochen werden, diese keine Berücksichtigung hinsichtlich einer Kürzung auf der Rechnung finden. Beim Service ist nur anzumerken, dass dieser doch zum Ende etwas nachlässt, sofern Kritik geäußert wurde und man vermutet, dass die Frage "War bei Ihnen alles in Ordnung" nicht positiv beantwortet werden würde.

„Niemand kann zweimal in denselben Fluss steigen. (Heraklit). Und leider kann man wohl auch nicht dreimal in dasselbe Engels in der Burg gehen. Im Sommer wurden wir vom damaligen Chefkoch aufs Köstlichste verwöhnt. Satt wurden wir auch. Mit Butter und Beilagen wurde nicht gegeizt. Unvergessliche Abende im Garten nah des Engels. Ein Feuerwerk der Aromen. Dazu bodenständige Kochkunst bei der Gast nicht nur optisch etwas geboten bekommt, sondern auch satt wird. Die perfekte Synthese. Am Dienstag ein dritter Abend. In freudiger Erwartung in Erinnerung an die unvergesslichen beiden Sommerabende. Aber nicht derselbe Fluss. Ein anderer Koch. Das merkten wir bereits beim Wildkräutersalat. Im Sommer eine üppige Portion mit außergewöhnlichem fruchtigem Dressing- Im tristen, nieseligen November eine karge Portion mit geraspelten Möhren (Sind Möhren Wildkräuter ?) Das Dressing ? 0/8/15. Raffiniert ?Gar nichts. Butter ? Zwei winzige Tupferchen. Der Service war auch nicht, das was er im Sommer war. Wünsche wurden nicht weitergeleitet und Dinge getan, die nicht gewünscht waren. Der Champagner wurde nachgeschenkt, obwohl das Glas meiner Frau noch halbvoll war. Das Motto: Gib ihm - auch wenn er lieber langsam das edle Getränk schlürfen möchte. Schnell, schnell, schnell. Die teure Flasche muss endlich leerwerden.Der Engel von allen Guten Geistern verlassen? Hauptgericht: Rinderfilet. Der Wunsch der Gäste: Medium plus. Was wurde serviert: Ziemlich blutige Fleischstücke mit einer Möhrendekoration am Tellerrand. Mit einem Hauch Kartoffel. Ein halber Pilz war auch dabei. Den wollen wir nicht unter den Tisch fallen lassen.Der Gesamteindruck: Die Pinzette lässt aus der Küche schön grüßen. Eine Beilage, die zu einer Sättigung hätte führen können ? Fehlanzeige. Geschmack ? Explosionen der Aromen -blieben aus.Niemand kann zweimal in denselben Fluss steigen und auch nicht dreimal im selben Restaurant Platz nehmen. Aber: Eine gewisse Konstanz sollte schon garantiert sein. Denn Restaurantbesuche sollten keine Lotterie sein, bei der man einmal einen Hauptgewinn und beim anderen Mal die Niete zieht. Wir kommen wohl nicht mehr wieder. Wir sind nämlich keine Glücksspieler.

Eine überraschende Steigerung. Ob Kohlenfisch, Rinderconsomme oder Kalbskotelett, alles vom Feinsten, vorzüglich kombiniert. Sehr freundlicher, kompetenter und unaufdringlicher Service, überzeugendes Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis.

Absolut empfehlenswert! Hervorragendes Essen mit einem absolut aufmerksamen Personal, was das dieses köstliche Essen zu einem Hochgenuss machte. Ganz herzlichen Dank!!!!

Hervorragende Küche und erstklassiger Service. Allerdings ist es überteuert.

Sehr schöne und gediegene Location. Wir waren zum ersten mal hier und sind absolut begeistert. Die Bedienungen sind sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Als Speise haben wir uns für "Daniels Genussreise" entschieden und waren wirklich überrascht wie gut und schmackhaft alles zubereitet war. Die begleitenden Weine waren vorzüglich gewählt. Wir haben jede Minute, von den drei Stunden die wir dort waren, genossen. Absolut empfehlenswert.

Wir haben 5Gänge Menü bekommen das einzige was gut war die Vorspeise und die nachspeise alles andere enttäuschen und das für 110€

Waren beim Menükarussel und sind direkt 2 Wochen später noch einmal hin, da uns das Essen sowie das Ambiente und der tolle Service so sehr gefallen hat. Wir sind nächstes Jahr unbedingt wieder beim Menükarussel dabei. Ganz großes Lob an die Küchen unter Leitung des sympathischen Küchenchefs sowie an alle Bedienstete. Wir wurden durchweg freundlich und zuvorkommend bedient.

Four of us were here today as part of the menu carousel. The food was delicious, imaginatively decorated, and served on beautiful china. The accompanying wines were available as non-alcoholic wines, and the overall ambiance was truly pleasing thanks to the stylish furnishings and tasteful decor. An all-around successful restaurant visit that left us wanting more.

Two of us went to the MK at Engels in the Burg, and I'm blown away. We're definitely regulars from now on :). Chef Daniel Webels takes time for each guest (where else can you find that?) We will definitely be back for Daniel's culinary journey. All in all, an unforgettable evening ☺️

I am still blown away by the exceptionally perfect food and the very good service personified by the restaurant manager This type of cuisine is rare to find, especially since the chef personally comes to the table, makes recommendations and, what I found particularly great, explains all the questions you might have as a guest in a professional and understandable way. In conversation with the chef Daniel Webels, it quickly became clear that I was looking at someone who loves what he does there. Very down-to-earth, personable and determined - that's what I think describes him best. I hope he stays with us in Recklinghausen for a very long time. Thank you for the unforgettable evening 💯

I can recommend the restaurant, but you have to have a lot of time and patience, almost 3 hours (!) for a 3-course menu!

There is something special about coming through the curtain and being led to a beautiful table. The waitresses and waiters are very accommodating, take your coats, give advice and pamper you. The chef himself asked how we liked it. The dishes are cleverly and decoratively arranged and taste delicious. The drink selection is very good.

The a la carte food was of excellent quality. The service was quick and very attentive. We'll come back to the menu carousel.

I went to Engels in der Burg for the first time during the Christmas season for the Engels goes X-Mas evening - and it definitely won't be the last time. The individual courses, some served at the table, some in buffet form, were perfectly coordinated and tasted an absolute highlight. The service staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and even the chef took the time to personally ask how satisfied we were. A clear recommendation for everyone who appreciates special enjoyment and warm hospitality!

Yesterday we visited the restaurant in a group of five people. Everyone was impressed by the excellent cuisine as well as the attentive service and the welcoming atmosphere! I would particularly like to highlight the goose breast that I ordered - it is definitely one of the best two goose dishes I have ever eaten! P.S. I was at Engels again today, December 20th. The goose was a little drier than the last visit. You should definitely order an extra portion of sauce (at an additional cost). I did that with my first order, I just forgot to mention it.

It was a special experience. Culinary and particularly noteworthy service! Annika Rataj and Lena Thiel, thank you! It is no longer usual these days that the chef personally came to each table after the meal and asked questions. A return is certain.

I had dinner there with my wife on Saturday. We chose the fantastic 5-course menu with wine accompaniment, it was excellent. The chef himself came to our table to make sure everything was OK, a very friendly, professional man who gave us a wonderful evening with his creations. We will definitely come regularly and let ourselves be enchanted.

Dishes with a taste and visual perfection that you rarely find

I was a guest in this great restaurant today. It started with a warm welcome and 2 great greetings from the kitchen, where you immediately feel that there is someone in the kitchen who clearly knows what he is doing there. The main course was visually a feast for the eyes and tasted sensational. .

I had the pleasure of the restaurant Visiting "Engels In der Burg" and all I can say is that the food was excellent! The beef fillet was cooked perfectly and looked very attractive too. The wild boar fillet was also very good and exceeded my expectations. A special highlight was the greeting from the kitchen - a real taste explosion! The service could be expanded a bit, but the overall package is right. For dessert I tried the chocolate mousse variants, which were very filling; One serving is definitely enough for two. All in all, a successful evening that I can only recommend!

We were more than satisfied with the service! The chef is a professional through and through!!! I don't know when I've eaten so well!!! Keep it up! We'd love to come back.

I was a guest with two other people in the Engels restaurant in the castle and was treated to two greetings from the kitchen, followed by a sensational 3-course menu. You can tell that an expert is at work here 👍 Not to mention fabulous service Keep it up 👍 We are regular guests from now on 👌

We went to the "Wild Evening" at Engels in der Burg: various game dishes, some served at the table, some in buffet form. Ambitious cuisine, extremely friendly and professional service, good wines (not exactly cheap), this combination is unfortunately rare in Recklinghausen. The included aperitif was a great introduction, the saddle of venison in a herb crepe coat was my personal favorite. Soft pink inside, buttery soft and aromatic, despite the presentation in buffet form. Here and there the seasoning could have been a little more refined, but all in all an enjoyable evening that was worth the money.

We award the stars for a really good, tasty and lovingly served meal (main course very clear in terms of quantity). However, there were quite long waiting times, which were shortened before the soup, with two greetings from the kitchen. At the end the chef came to the table, questioned our food and told us about his future plans and made recommendations. We found it absolutely negative that the wines were poured extremely sparingly (no calibration mark, so that's just our feeling) at exorbitantly high prices, e.g. the red wine, a Palatinate "Incognito" a bottle for €13, beats Engels i.d.B. per glass with 0.2L? Book for €18! That leaves a bad aftertaste. Our recommendation; Keep your eyes open when it comes to wine (the other drinks were within the usual range), it's best to ask for the wine list, then you'll be safe from such surprises, then the whole thing will be a nice, enjoyable evening, with competent, friendly service in an upscale atmosphere.

This year's "Vest Menu" with the Vestischen Weinkonvent took place today in the Engels Restaurant. We were thrilled with the 4-course menu, both by the quality of the food and the quantity of portions, which for me could have been less. The visual presentation was particularly great. The chef Daniel took the time to communicate with the guests. I have already booked another menu in November.

Yesterday we were guests at the “Wild Evening”. The quality and presentation were a dream! Quite remarkable: the chef took his time with everyone and went from table to table! Gladly again!

A successful (wild) evening! The two of us enjoyed the game evening yesterday. Everything was perfectly prepared and tasted extremely delicious. My highlight was the wild tail fillet with the porcini mushroom sauce. Our conclusion: first-class cuisine, very professional but still personal service in an absolutely stylish atmosphere!

On our last visit we had a Wiener Schnitzel, the best of its kind outside of Vienna. The potato salad with it is not the usual warmed one but crunchy with a subtle note of mustard, very refreshing. Overall a great evening

We were as a couple in the Engelsburg restaurant on September 21st, 2024. ...ordered a 3-course menu and were extremely satisfied. The ingredients and preparation of the dishes were excellent. The service, the ambience and the delicacies completed the overall picture. Thank you very much for that!

I recently visited a restaurant and I have no words to describe how great my time there was! The chef really surprised us with his culinary masterpieces. The truffle and shrimp linguine was to die for — the pasta was cooked to perfection, and the combination of aromatic truffle and fresh shrimp created an incredible flavor that will be remembered for a long time. Furthermore, the service was excellent. The staff was attentive and friendly. The location of the restaurant is also very successful — an atmospheric place with a cozy interior, ideal for both a romantic dinner and a meeting with friends. Overall, I absolutely loved this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy exquisite cuisine and excellent service!

The four of us sat in the courtyard of the hotel. That was really very nice. The service is very attentive. All the food came at the same time on preheated, very nice plates. The dishes were wonderfully prepared. Unfortunately the taste is a bit disappointing. The names of the dishes and the prices promise a first-class culinary experience. That is definitely not the case. The selection of ingredients may be special. However, the restaurant doesn't seem to be able to bring these together into a harmonious composition. Too bad.

As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were impressed by the charming and cozy atmosphere - a successful mix of historical flair and modern elegance. The food was excellent. Each of us tried a different dish and everyone was completely satisfied. The dishes were not only visually appealing, but also a highlight in terms of taste. You can tell that the attention to detail and high-quality ingredients are worked here. The service was also impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly and always available without being intrusive. We particularly liked the relaxed atmosphere, which was underlined by the warm nature of the team. Overall, a thoroughly successful evening that we would be happy to repeat. The Engels restaurant in the castle is definitely worth recommending to anyone who wants to enjoy good food in a great ambience.

Yesterday we went to Engels in the castle for the first time for a Latin American barbecue evening. It was an absolutely perfect summer evening in the castle garden. Courteous, friendly service and a fantastic ambience at the Engeslbrunnen, which gave us a special holiday feeling. The grill buffet was unusual and very, very tasty. We have booked the next barbecue evening straight away. ☺️

We visited the Engels restaurant in the castle again on Tuesday and were very impressed again. The new menu impresses with great dishes, such as the “Caught zander on black pudding risotto” and “Two kinds of venison with pointed cabbage and homemade Schupfnudeln” that we selected. First of all, we decided on Vitello Tonnato, which was served once as a tartare and once in one piece, and a wild garlic tea with dim sum. Everything is super delicious. We were treated to fine wines by the super friendly service. The ambience with velvet sofas is cozy and homely. We also think it's particularly great that increased emphasis is placed on animal welfare, sustainability and regionality when selecting products. Commendable and worth supporting!

Exceptional service combined with perfect food. Annika makes a special evening the perfect evening. We drive here for 2.5 hours because it is always an experience. The attention to detail and the incredible service is an absolute unique selling point. Whether with or without children you simply feel welcome and it is always an experience. Thanks to the team!
