Really good doner kebab and cool staff

We would have liked to share the positive experience of the other visitors, but unfortunately, it wasn't quite that convincing. The restaurant is nicely decorated, and the understaffed staff tries very hard to please everyone. Unfortunately, it was a bit cold, and the restrooms aren't particularly attractive. The much-praised burger didn't impress me. There was too much sauce, but too little meat (a paper-thin, overcooked patty). All in all, of course, it's better than McDonald's.

We went there a few years ago, a group of three, and it was fine back then. But now, in 2025, as soon as you enter the restaurant, an extremely unpleasant smell hits you. Thankfully, it wasn't as bad in the dining room, but still noticeable. The food has unfortunately declined significantly. I wonder how it's possible that so many people write such excellent reviews—are they really that good, or do I just have terrible taste? Which I fundamentally question, because otherwise I'd be a terrible wine merchant!

I can highly recommend this lovely restaurant in the heart of Lauf an der Pegnitz. It's located in a historic building with a fishpond. The staff is friendly and the menu is extensive, featuring dishes you don't often find. I particularly recommend the South Tyrolean snack platter. The atmosphere is very cozy and refined. I would gladly spend another evening here.

An annual visit is a must; the delicious regional food is fantastic. Enjoy a traditional meal in the cozy dining room with other people. Conversations flow and wonderful stories unfold. Reserve a table in advance. In summer, there's a beautiful beer garden.
