Vegana Vietnamese Restaurant in Mannheim

The atmosphere was very cool and inviting, my partner and I had high hopes when we sat down. The service was fine, a bit cold but there may have been a big enough language barrier (I speak a bit of German but our server did not seem fluent in German and didn't speak English) to explain that. When we got our food there was an odd smell that accompanied it and after a few bites we were both very unimpressed, if not a little disgusted, with both the smell and the taste. After several bites each our appetites had been sufficiently lost, we waived our server down and asked to pay. Our server did not seem curious at all as to why we were leaving so soon, happily took money and made change. This was some of the worst food we've ever had. There are much better all vegan restaurant options very nearby.

Delicious food, very friendly staff, and a really lovely atmosphere. We've eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. Highly recommended in Mannheim! It's best to reserve in advance.

There's nothing to complain about, except that you can't possibly be hungry enough to eat there. Edit: Unfortunately, there are a few things that significantly lower my 5-star rating from a while back. We ate there again yesterday. We asked twice for water for our dog before my husband offered to get the bowl himself. If there's a language barrier, you shouldn't just nod in agreement and then do nothing, but rather get someone to help. Unfortunately, the bowl that arrived was completely filthy, with actual chunks of food stuck in it. Dogs can transmit bacteria to each other! My husband then had to clean the bowl. Despite the delicious food, we're now also dissatisfied with the restaurant's hygiene, as we both felt quite unwell this morning. The restroom there still hasn't been repaired in at least a year: the door rattles incredibly loudly, the door handles are broken, and the faucet is disgustingly calcified. I also don't know what's going on with the card reader, which has apparently been broken for at least a year, so unfortunately you can only pay in cash. Overall, we're disappointed with our former favorite restaurant. The staff's overwork is often evident in the evenings, when mistakes are quite common. It's much more pleasant there at lunchtime.

The food was tasty, unfortunately the only positive aspect of the visit. The wait for the food was over 90 minutes, and the appetizer was forgotten. Other tables also had to wait a very long time for their food. The service and kitchen seemed disorganized and a bit overwhelmed. Even though the diners were waiting ages for their food, they were still processing takeout orders the whole time. Overall, very disappointing.

We had the vegan seitan summer rolls as a starter, very tasty!! The vegan seitan duck with udon was delicious, and the mushroom sauce with assorted mushrooms was also good! 🍄‍🟫 Great for all vegans or people who simply want to try something new ☺️ The two of us paid about €45.

Very fresh and surprisingly creatively seasoned and combined. I'm thrilled with the outstanding flavor. Unfortunately, the main course arrived very quickly after the soup. However, I'm not deducting any points for that. Highly recommended!

We went to Vegana yesterday for my mother's birthday and had a really lovely evening. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and stylish, and the service is friendly. Most of the food was really good: The udon bowl with crispy tempura seitan "duck" was excellent, as was the fried tofu with pepperoni, lemongrass, and sesame rice. The tapas platter for two was the perfect portion. The fries were also super crispy—my little brother would have preferred regular ketchup. However, the Vietnamese seitan beef salad wasn't really to our liking: too much cabbage, hardly any seitan, and we could barely find the peanuts. Nevertheless, it was a great experience overall. We (even the non-vegans in our group) would definitely come back :)

Super delicious, plentiful, AND ALL VEGAN! 👌🏻 Eight months ago, this was my review. 👆🏻 I finally had the chance again today. And there's still only one "problem": there's SO much choice, and everything sounds so delicious. I'll have to come back quite a few more times before I've tried everything. 🤩 Still highly recommended, in my opinion even for people who aren't vegan. It's a shame I can only give 5 stars.

However, the food is delicious, and the staff are always very attentive. You should be understanding in this situation. It's also best to go during the week. Vegana is a wonderful restaurant with lovingly prepared, purely plant-based dishes. The food is fresh, varied, and absolutely delicious – you can tell that it's cooked with heart. The homemade curries and the baked banana are especially recommended! The staff is very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is pleasantly quiet and cozy. The value for money is also excellent. I will definitely be back – a must for anyone who wants to eat healthy and delicious food!

Good food, but completely overwhelmed and untrained staff. We were there on November 8th, and the staff forgot about us. After 100 minutes, we inquired and finally received "at least" half of our order. Empty drinks were ignored. The forced apology sounded like empty words. The service at neighboring tables was even worse in some cases. Some people had to leave the restaurant without any food at all. Definitely not recommended, despite the tasty food.

Unfortunately, we left after waiting over 90 minutes for our main course. No new drinks were brought during that time either. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

The service and the ambiance were perfectly fine. However, the food was a real disappointment. The ingredients were basically okay, but the "sauce" made everything taste like MSG and an excessive amount of salt. I had already decided against the vegan meat substitute. It was just a deep-fried, seasoned mush. Our companion, however, quite enjoyed her meal, even though their dishes were seasoned in a very similar way. The price was reasonable by today's standards. Parking across the street for two hours costs an additional 9 euros. In summary, it unfortunately didn't suit my taste.

Highly recommended. I went there for lunch with a colleague. I had the udon bowl with seitan and it was fantastic. Very attentive, friendly service, great atmosphere.

Finally, a vegetarian menu where you can simply choose. Very tasty. The appetizer platter is especially recommended. The spring rolls are a bit different and excellent. The only thing to note about the sushi is that it's served with a lot of Japanese mayonnaise, which not everyone likes. It would be better to use it to decorate the plate rather than pouring it over the food.

Whether the food is good and the service friendly depends heavily on the team working that day. They couldn't or wouldn't really explain why we weren't allowed to eat upstairs for the second time (while others were). Furthermore, they only accept cash. We definitely won't be going back.

Great menu selection, great taste

We had the sushi platter for two people. It was a lot and very rich. The soy sauce and pickled ginger are very small and have to be requested separately. The wasabi is super mild and not enough for that. The staff speaks little, smiles a lot, and Hinz responds to criticism in their own way. The ambiance is very stylish and pleasant. The furniture is a bit worn.

Update from October 19th: Yesterday I was at Vegana again, and the service was first-class; it seems something has changed. The food was excellent, as usual. The food is excellent and keeps me coming back. While the service is very friendly, I've unfortunately had several experiences with it being chaotic, orders getting lost or taken incorrectly, and dishes not being cleared. For example, the main course arrived and the starter dishes hadn't been cleared away. We had to do it ourselves to make room. I find this a real shame because the vegan concept is great, but the overall experience suffers due to the chaotic flow.

Tried Vegana in Mannheim — nice atmosphere and lovely decor, but the food was just okay. Nothing special, and honestly, I wouldn’t really recommend it.

I've eaten there a few times, even as a meat eater. The vegan food is good, and I especially enjoyed the sushi. Unfortunately, there are problems with ordering. I showed photos of the desired dish several times, but never got what was in the picture. That's a shame, because otherwise I would have continued going there. Three stars for the quality of the food, minus for the communication and execution of the order.

We’ve already been to Vegana Vietnamese Restaurant in Mannheim three times — and we keep coming back for a reason! The food is incredibly delicious every single time — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully served. The coconut curry and spring rolls are our absolute favorites ✨ The place has such a cozy, modern vibe and the staff are always super friendly. Definitely one of our favorite spots in Mannheim!

We were on a layover in Mannheim and wanted a quick lunch. Vegana was the closest restaurant to our parking garage, and we were intrigued by the vegan Vietnamese cuisine. The dining room is attractively decorated, and the service is friendly and fast! The food is amazing! The vegan Vietnamese cuisine is very diverse and delicious. You could taste every spice; it was freshly cooked and very appetizingly presented. We'll definitely stop in Mannheim and have lunch at Vegana again on our next trip to southern Germany. Oh, and you have to try the homemade lemonade here; it's absolutely delicious!

Super delicious and friendly, prompt service. For wheelchair users: There's a 10 cm threshold at the entrance, and the restrooms aren't fully accessible (90 cm doors and no grab bars). However, there's a lift from the ground floor to the first floor, where the restrooms and additional tables are located.

We had an excellent Vietnamese meal, albeit vegan. The portions were really large; we were very pleasantly surprised. The quality of the food and the way it was seasoned were phenomenal. Seitan is primarily used as a meat substitute. The staff was very friendly, and we didn't have to wait long for our dishes. It was also nice that the restaurant didn't smell of food. There were four of us and we paid around €110 for starters, main course, and drinks. We highly recommend the Vegana restaurant. Thank you again for your hospitality and the great dishes.

The ambiance is unfortunately mediocre. The tables are wobbly, and the cleanliness is so-so (it could definitely be cleaner). The food isn't bad, but it has little to do with the original. All in all, everyone has different tastes. It's not really my taste.

A great restaurant with good food, but unfortunately, it's ridiculous that they've been forcing customers to pay only in cash for months. Service in a restaurant begins with the ambiance, followed by the food and service. And to make the visit a success, it ends with the choice of payment. Unfortunately, that hasn't been possible here for a long time. And the possibility of this machine breaking down or something else does happen, but not for months! Sorry, let me know as soon as it's up and running again, and I'd be happy to come back!

really enjoyed my dinner and this unique vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant we had the spring rolls soy beans pods the grilled avocado, a Bon Bo hue when I got ready to pay, she said, she only took cash, which took me by a big surprise. I didn’t see anything on the website like that and since I’m a traveler, I do not really carry money with me. Luckily, I had some, but I was not a happy customer it should be written somewhere that they don’t accept credit cards so be aware you need cash (one website it says it takes credit cards ) the food is delicious. The service is OK and the atmosphere is fine. I went upstairs and I was surprised to see what a beautiful large upstairs that was where the toilet so that’s why it looks like it’s a party space or special occasion space indoor outdoor seating

Cash only! Very tasty pho, with sesame beef, tofu, mushrooms, cilantro, spring onions, red onions, and a delicious broth. There was also a spicy (probably sriracha) and a dark (hoisin?) sauce. The salad without dressing on the side was somehow out of place. The service was very friendly. The Viet coffee was also very tasty! Highly recommended!

The food was served quickly and was delicious. The sauce was spicy and flavorful. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is a great place to eat with friends. You should bring cash, as card payments are not currently accepted. I had pineapple lemonade—it tastes really good with ice.

We ate there yesterday in a small group. Regarding the "service," we were happy to overlook the fact that we were handed drinks and appetizers brought to our tables. Later, we were, in my opinion, flattered and "rudely asked" to collect drink orders as a group rather than placing them individually. The selection of vegan dishes is large and varied. The dishes are served with plenty of sauce, and the salad is placed on top of the warm food—you have to like that.

The women were nice, but they weren't helpful at all. - You can't get the soda without ice cubes. We couldn't figure out why. It just wasn't possible... - We wanted to change our seats from the downstairs to the upstairs. It also wasn't possible. Because apparently everything was reserved. When we left the restaurant after 1.5 hours, there were still plenty of seats available. And you can't pay by card. PayPal works. Too bad. I usually like to support vegan restaurants.

The employees were very unfriendly and unaccommodating. Working in the restaurant industry and dealing with customers isn't for everyone. Unfortunately, we left without eating anything.

The udon noodles with duck seitan were particularly delicious! The tapas plate for two also pleasantly surprised us! The only thing we weren't convinced about so far was the soups. But that's a matter of taste :).

A beautiful ambiance. This was my second time there, and so far, all I can say is that the food tastes amazing. I can hardly believe it's all vegan. It's just so great that there's a restaurant where, as a vegetarian/vegan, you can simply order anything from the menu and have a really large selection of meals. Other restaurants usually only have one or two vegetarian dishes to choose from, and with vegan dishes, you often have to be lucky to find anything at all. But here, that's the only option. Please keep up the good work. And the staff are also very friendly.

The service was poor; they couldn't answer questions in German or English. The group's food was mediocre, but mine was disastrous. The sauce tasted like orange juice with an enormous amount of sugar, the vegetables weren't crisp, and the rice was overcooked. I passed on my criticism, but it wasn't understood. Card payments weren't accepted, but PayPal (Family & Friends) was offered as an alternative.

If you're looking for vegan food, this is the place for you. I had the mushroom specialties, and the umami was just right. The rest of the dishes were pleasantly spicy for those used to spicy food. Not too little, but not too much either.

We've eaten at this restaurant several times and have always been satisfied, so we'd happily return. However, on our last visit, we had the impression that the quality had declined somewhat. The service was less attentive and friendly than usual. We also had concerns about the drinks: We ordered Coca-Cola, but the taste was noticeably different from what we're used to. The bottles labeled Coca-Cola were brought to our table already opened, which raised the suspicion that they might not have been genuine Coca-Cola. It's a shame, because the food here used to be first-class. And we should expect the same at these prices.

It was insanely delicious. Super versatile. There were tons of mushrooms, stringy meats, and amazing sauces. I recommend it to any vegan who's in the mood for something delicious.

The atmosphere is incredibly cozy and perfect for dining with friends or family. But what really sets Vegana apart is the team. We've been there several times now! The food is always fantastic! The major flaw, the reservation system, was recently fixed, which we're very happy about!

A vegan resturant located in a rather less noisy area of the zentrum is a more sophisticated place that serves East Asian food. The atmosphere inside is elegant and good place for date nights. The quantity of the food could be a little more as I felt I could eat some more even after paying 16-17 Euros for a main dish. Summer rolls - Absolutely delicious! It's light, it's simple and the peanut sauce just brings everything together. - 9.5/10 Bún Bì Thịt Xá Xíu - A good mix of noodles, veggies and crispy. My only complaint was I felt a lack of umami and the sauce was a bit too salty. - 8/10 Bún Chà Giò - The spring rolls were perfectly fried and tasty. A good combination of veggies to compliment the sauce and rice noodles. - 8/10.

Update: Unfortunately, a significant loss in quality - former favorite disappointed. I have valued Vegana for a long time - because of the delicious food, the friendly service and the relaxed atmosphere. Unfortunately, a lot has changed noticeably for the worse recently: The quality of the dishes has declined significantly. The curries I recently ordered were so extremely fatty that a continuous film of fat - about half a centimeter thick - was deposited over the sauce. The dish tasted almost exclusively of oil - there was no trace of the balanced flavors of earlier times. Unfortunately I couldn't finish it. The service has also deteriorated significantly. You used to be served at the table all the time, but now you have to do everything yourself at the counter after the first order, even if the shop is almost empty. The left door has been broken for months, and the now worn out handwritten notes ("Unfortunately, no card payment is possible at the moment") have been hanging there for what feels like an eternity - it seems more like standstill than hospitality. It's a shame because I've always enjoyed visiting Vegana. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend it in its current form - at least not until something noticeably improves again. I won't be returning for now
