Great service, good food, good value for money

Unfortunately, I had a very unpleasant experience today. We arrived around 8:45 p.m. At that time, only one pasta station was open, and several guests were already waiting there. Another employee was primarily occupied with cleaning, even though the queue was getting considerably longer. Shortly afterward, about ten more guests arrived and were also directed to this single station. Meanwhile, the other employees were making fun of the lone cook, who had to handle the entire preparation alone. To make matters worse, we ended up receiving the wrong dish, presumably due to the employee being overworked and distracted. I have absolutely no understanding for this kind of treatment of guests or for the internal communication.

Delicious pasta, nice place with a great view. Lasagna is mediocre.

We ate there on December 6th with a group of 10. The man at the entrance was quite friendly, but he was the only one. If you're not familiar with the concept, the (cooking) staff treat you like an idiot when you order. They're unfriendly, prefer to argue rather than inform, and the guy in charge of the salads even makes up his own rules. A disaster, never again. The food isn't worth the money either; I don't know how they arrive at these prices.

We used to come here often with friends. The concert was interesting, and they cook the food pretty quickly. This time I was disappointed. The service, understandably, is self-service. But the staff was unpolite. The guy cooking was arrogant and fidgety (he probably hates his job). The pasta was tasteless, bland. I could make my own noodles at home. Overall, I don't recommend this place.

I was here for the first time today; the concept was new to me but easy to understand. Shortly after opening, there was only moderate traffic, resulting in no wait at all. The pasta was prepared individually in no time and then I devoured it...it's not exactly self-service, but after ordering, I just had to take my plate to the table myself. After eating, the table was cleared quickly. Incidentally, my pasta dish was the most delicious I've had in Germany for a long time – but that's just my humble opinion...and there's absolutely nothing to complain about regarding the prices!! The only slight drawback for me was the interior; it's high-quality and perhaps contemporary, but also uncomfortable if you sit at a table for more than half an hour. It's not exactly cozy, but perhaps that's the intention...still, I'd gladly come again!

Unfortunately, the stairwell smelled of urine. The food was as good as usual. Since you basically have to get and take everything away yourself, the service can only be described as non-existent.

The salad is just leaves, and there aren't many side dishes. It's very cramped, and the chairs all have backrests. The pasta was also pretty tasteless and undercooked. The table setting, however, is very nice, and the drinks are delicious, too.

The concept is self-service. You have to like that. It was relatively busy, but the staff made an effort. Next time, I'd rather go to a proper restaurant.

The restaurant's concept was completely unfamiliar to me. We probably arrived at a very inconvenient time to eat. It was very busy. There were only a limited number of free seats available inside. Due to the heavy rush to order, it was impossible for the staff to handle the rush. This resulted in incorrectly ordered food/pizza, which was then set aside. I can't say whether it was then thrown away. My pizza was edible and large, but it could have needed a little longer in the oven. In my opinion, it was just a case of the staff processing it. Empty plates full of food from the neighboring table were then temporarily placed at our table without any comment from the staff. Oh well. We were full, but I wouldn't eat there again.

We went there for dinner today with six people. Two of the three pizzas were extremely dry and burnt. I can understand the reviews that say "every chef prepares the food differently." (Because the third person ordered their pizza from a different chef, which was fine.) The pasta was nothing special either. I didn't like it at all; I was just disappointed. Everything was hectic and crowded there; I won't be able to get into a Vapiano again.

I've been a regular at Vapiano in Leipzig for many years, but unfortunately, I've noticed that the quality has declined significantly recently. Every chef seems to prepare the dishes differently these days – sometimes ingredients are missing, sometimes the food tastes completely different. What's particularly annoying is that essential ingredients are sometimes simply omitted, and the portions are extremely uneven. It seems as if the pasta packages are portioned "by feel," which is really disappointing given the current prices. I used to leave the restaurant full and satisfied – unfortunately, that's rarely the case these days. The ambiance has also changed: instead of the Italian flair, it seems like only black and R&B music is playing, which doesn't fit the concept at all. What a shame, Vapiano! I really hope you find your way back to your former strengths – because the potential and the idea are still great.

The pasta dish was freshly prepared in front of our eyes. The ingredients were personally mentioned. The food was delicious. You get a chip card that records everything. You pay before leaving the restaurant. Great idea 👍👍

It was okay. But it was extremely loud, and it took a while for the tables to be cleaned. We all had salads... they tasted good, but not outstanding.

Unfortunately, the pizzas were bare, which is a shame for a restaurant. The concept is questionable, there's no service, and it costs €0.50 to wrap. I wasn't impressed and would advise against it.

We went there in the evening and were greeted by cold staff who neither took our order correctly nor showed any sincerity or lacked professionalism. We noticed that the "self-service" organization confused other guests besides us. The only exciting and positive aspects were the opportunity to watch the dish being prepared and the availability of vegan alternatives. The food served was mediocre, both visually and taste-wise.

Food was quite bad but liked the vibe and the setup. It is nice to see your dish cooked in front of you but just wish it was cooked properly. The pesto pasta has no pesto just the ingredients of pesto. The Margherita had too much cheese and not much taste in the sauce.

You have to like the concept or get involved! You get a card with which you can purchase drinks, food, and desserts at various stations. The prices are then stored on the card, which you have to place on a contact surface. You stand in line to order, and when picking up the admittedly freshly prepared food, you have to push through the line of people ordering food. The staff taking orders were unevenly friendly; at the pizza stand, they were even rather unfriendly and seemingly unmotivated. The restaurant's decor, however, is tasteful and very well done. The quality of the food was good, and everything tasted okay. Considering that you handle the entire service yourself, almost like in a fast-food restaurant (even empty plates weren't cleared from the table during our visit), the prices hardly differ from those in restaurants where you are waited on, as long as you don't limit yourself to a few cheap options. Nevertheless, the concept seems to appeal to many people.

I haven't eaten anything so disgusting in a long time. Despite being hungry, I only managed a few bites. And the tip was immediately taken at the cash register. But what for? Standing in line and being served rudely by the cook. Never again.

I definitely do not recommend this restaurant. My opinion: I ordered a margarita pizza, and after a long wait, I was able to pick it up. The pizza had too little cheese, a thick crust, and was too salty. When I asked a question, I was answered in a nasty tone. Very bad.

We've been big fans of this restaurant for many years and enjoy coming back. The food has always been good, and we know that with the high demand, things can sometimes get a bit rough – which we find completely understandable. So today's visit was all the more disappointing. My daughter's meal was burnt, the pizza wasn't cooked properly, and my request to omit an ingredient led to multiple questions, which were later even ridiculed. The chef seemed visibly annoyed – by everything and anything. I actually had three dishes in mind, but didn't dare order another one for fear of being fobbed off with another eye roll. We understand that this job is very stressful and that you're exposed to the whims of many guests. Nevertheless, we believe that respectful interaction should remain the foundation – so that no one feels like a "bother" or "out of place."

The waitresses preparing the food were unfriendly and came across as annoyed. They rolled their eyes at every little thing. The carbonara was a lump, and the pasta was still hard. On top of that, they used a very large amount of oil for frying, which made the carbonara very greasy and oily. The prices are decent, but a bit overpriced considering you have to get the food yourself and aren't served. Otherwise, it's a nice place with good music.

The homemade noodles are amazing! 🤤🤤🤤 I think you could treat yourself to this more often. I really liked the card concept. See you soon.

After standing in line for 15 minutes and someone who had just arrived was taken over, I politely informed the employee that it was my turn, saying, "Excuse me, I was here first." In response, he signaled to me with a flick of the wrist to be quiet and said, "I don't care, I decide." His colleagues then tried to explain to me that he was alone and that I had to understand... Thanks, that was the last time I was at Vapiano in Leipzig.

Tastes very good and always clean

It was our first time here, and we had to ask how it all worked...my boys and I ordered one pizza and two pastas. It was delicious. Neither of us could finish the pasta, so we had it packed up. It was microwaveable/dishwasher safe for only 50 cents per package. We also bought some extra to take home.

We've been to VAPIANO restaurants in various cities several times, and this one is by far the worst. It started with an employee taking our order in a very rude manner. Apparently, there was a disagreement in the kitchen, as another employee walked through the kitchen with the comment, "Don't act like you're in kindergarten." The food itself was equally disappointing: the garlic and onions were burnt, the bruschetta was served on a much too small plate and piled high with a pile of arugula, so that everything fell onto the table while we ate it. Furthermore, it's probably well-intentioned that guests can see into the kitchen, but the noise from the kitchen, the music in the background, and the conversations between guests make the noise level far too high to create a pleasant atmosphere.

This restaurant was amazing. Great gluten free pizza! Tons of vegetarian and pescatarian options. Both the pasta and the pizza are freshly made. The pasta is made right in front of you and my picky daughter could specify how much garlic, chili, etc. to add to her sauce. The food was excellent. The chefs and servers were polite and efficient. One of the best places we have eaten, with something for everyone.

Delicious food with, in our opinion, a fair price-performance ratio. The children's menu is recommended (drink included). Self-service provided flexibility and shorter wait times than usual. The knives were a bit hard to find, and the return of the dishes wasn't entirely clear. However, everyone left the restaurant full and satisfied.

A relatively long wait on a Monday evening around 7:30 p.m. Clearly too few staff for a self-service restaurant. The staff were only moderately friendly, but they complained loudly about the long hours when cooking, which is of little interest to me as a customer... The food was okay, and we found the portion size reasonable for the price.

They weren't friendly when we ordered, and they were even more so at the checkout...We were charged twice for a dish, and when we complained, they gave us the money in a very grumpy manner without a word of apology. A very nice place on Augustusplatz. Large selection, even for those with a small appetite. You get a card per person on site to pay for yourself. Card payments are possible, and you only pay at the end at a special cash register. You choose specific dishes and have to walk to the different stations, for example, lasagna, pasta, or soup. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were sufficient. Very friendly staff, and you can also express your wishes. The food is prepared right in front of you.

Vapiano in Leipzig is within easy walking distance of the main train station. As is typical with Vapiano, you receive a "credit card" with which you can go to the respective counter (pizza, pasta, etc.) and order your meal, customizing it to your liking. Preparation takes place live, and you can even chat with the chefs. The staff clears away dishes and glasses outside and asks if everything is OK (as it should be!). The restrooms are clean. Great.

Update July 25: People were asked for garlic and chili, and also for drinks. Prices have gone up again compared to the last visit. That's okay, but then the quantity has to be right. And unfortunately, that's getting smaller and smaller. Even less vegetables; you have to search for chicken (chicken piccante). That's not possible. Either the same prices and less, or more expensive, but with more ingredients. So now it's just regular pasta with mini vegetables and pieces of meat. Too bad, I don't go out for that. I can do that at home. So, Vapiano, you really didn't shine today. Unfortunately, you've been slacking off for a while now (fewer ingredients with the pasta (e.g., vegetables)), but today was really bad. It was quick, but that was about it for the positives, and it's not worth it to me. Before, you were asked whether you wanted garlic or chili with it; before, there was bread. My food today was totally overseasoned (too much salt and pepper, I could hardly eat it). I wasn't asked for a drink either, only after asking. The vegetables were handled with hands without gloves or a spoon, and as I said, there were far too few. And the price for that is unacceptable. And it always depends very much on the chef, his mood, and how much of the ingredients he adds. In the past, there were seasonal dishes, too, for example, now in the fall with pumpkin or something. It doesn't seem to be available in October. I won't be back for a while.

The noodles weren't cooked all the way through. Our requests weren't accommodated. The staff was extremely annoyed and rude. The food wasn't well seasoned. The ingredients were unevenly distributed, making it inedible. Not worth the hype!

Delicious food and great pizza! There's even a small bunny-shaped pizza and a specially designed pasta on the kids' menu! Highly recommended! Excellent rail connections via almost all tram lines and just 1 km from Leipzig Central Station. There are plenty of available (but expensive) parking spaces at the Q-Park Augustusplatz right next to/underneath the restaurant.

My partner and I went to Vapiano in Leipzig today. For someone who has never been there before, it is probably very confusing. Thanks to the nice gentleman at the entrance who took us really well by the hand, it wasn't as bad as we thought. We had two pizzas, bruschetta and a drink each. The price for the food is absolutely fair and legitimate. The food really tasted incredibly delicious. The lady who prepared the bruschetta seemed very annoyed, which I thought was a bit of a shame. It was my first time there and I didn't place the menu correctly. Still, it was worth the experience.

I've been to Vapiano many times, and I really like it there. The food is always very fresh, the staff are friendly, and the place has always been clean. However, the noise level can sometimes be a bit excessive. You also have to speak very clearly when ordering, as some employees don't fully understand German the first time. However, all the employees are always friendly and helpful. I always enjoy the food there. I will definitely go back to this restaurant.
