Vapiano in Leipzig

I visited last week with some friends and enjoyed it so much that I returned with my family just three days later. Now, whenever I'm craving pasta, this is the place I’ll turn to. Just a heads-up: this is a self-service restaurant. If you're expecting the traditional experience of sitting at a table and having a waiter serve you, you might be disappointed, so it’s best to familiarize yourself with the ordering process beforehand. Upon entering, the staff will hand you a customer card. You then head to the open kitchen to order your favorite dish from the chef, who prepares it right in front of you. Once your meal is ready, the chef will hand it to you and register it on your card. Find a cozy spot to enjoy your meal, and when you’re finished, you can review your order with the counter staff and pay the bill. The open kitchen offers a great view of the cooking process, making it entertaining to wait for your meal, and I appreciated seeing the fresh ingredients being used. We ordered pasta, and it was fantastic to customize our dishes with different toppings and noodles. We visited around 12:10 on a weekday, and while it was busy, the spacious, bright, and well-maintained environment made it comfortable. I also loved the diners' aprons hanging on the wall—a nice touch! The staff were friendly and attentive: the chef taking my order, the woman at the counter, and the hardworking woman cleaning the restaurant all contributed to a pleasant experience. We enjoyed a delicious pasta dish and drinks for lunch, and our total came to 33.70 euros (with free bread), which I found to be reasonable. Overall, I highly recommend this place for anyone in the mood for tasty pasta!

It is generally a shame in Leipzig that there is no suitable location for special events for ordinary people who want to enjoy the ambience and peace and quiet. Something like 1 drink + 1 dish on New Year's Eve only for guests on a €45 ticket would be easy money and maximum profit with operationally maximum security, as only selected, quiet guests would benefit from the exclusive location. The managing director misses out on easy money at maximum profit Too bad.

I got a day-expired dessert (with cream!) and when I went to the waitress to clarify, she simply tore off the expiration date sticker and threw it away. Seems unprofessional

After I was there mostly at lunchtime and was always satisfied, I would now like to say a few words of praise for the nice gentleman at the checkout. After I had dinner with my wife in the evening and everything wasn't as good as usual, I told him about it. There was a very nice and accommodating reaction. Thank you for that. I'd love to come back!

Food was disgustingly cheap and cold lasagna tasted like frozen lasagna because there was ancient parmesan cheese

Pizza around €16 no bigger than 26cm and the edge is pretty black. Weak for such a chain.

We ate here as a small family. We expected a normal restaurant but it is more of a fast food restaurant. It was incredibly crowded and loud. The tables were extremely narrow and you could feel the person behind you at the next table. The two pasta dishes were bland and not worth the money at all. The pizza was okay. The staff was friendly.

Instead of a vegan pizza, I received a vegetarian pizza with cheese - despite explicit requests. Unfortunately it was taken away so I didn't notice it until I got home. Something like that shouldn't happen.

Delicious food with long waiting times

The atmosphere is anything but nice! You feel like you're at the train station. Crowding, long queues and fights for seats. The children's portions (recommended up to 12 years old) are a joke and a disgrace! 10 counted noodles...

The city of Leipzig is a very cultural city, here you can find great places to appreciate good art. The Vapiano theater is one of them

Too expensive compared to an Italian restaurant with full service. The pizza dough also lacked flavor. The pizza was just bland. Really a shame. But for the price I expect more.

Lasagna itself was delicious, but cold (half frozen) in the middle, a shame.

It's a real shame, I remembered the store well but that was a thing of the past. Food is good if only you didn't get sent away because one person ordered something and it had to be prepared first because another order would probably be overwhelming. The last visit to a Vapiano was probably a shame but then I preferred to go to a real Italian restaurant.

The food was very good, The staff cleaned the tables well. Unfortunately the food takes longer because it is freshly made. The atmosphere is super fun, just like at the train station.

You can pick up food take away, you pay a DEPOSIT on the box, which isn't a problem, but you don't get anything back if you want to hand it in, according to the terms and conditions you get the deposit back. There is no response to emails, it's a shame that this is how you treat guests who bring money...

Delicious food but very crowded and noisy.

The concept is not good. There are various stations where you can order and pick up your pasta, pizza, salad, antipasti or drinks. We were there with two small children. If an adult has to order four meals and drinks from three or four stations and then pick them up again, it is very inconvenient and everyone eats individually. Food was very good, but the concept is not recommended.

Food was great! Ambiance: unfortunately it was very, very full, therefore very loud and uncomfortable. You can sit there for a maximum of an hour, everything is very uncomfortable. You also had to wait in line for ages to be able to order your food...not well regulated.

The pizza 🍕 tastes great here. We love eating in a Vapiano.

I tried pizza, it was good, not bad

Ate delicious spaghetti carbobara. I almost always take that here because they do it really well. Pizza is also very good.

Unfortunately, the pizza was completely overloaded and the pasta was nothing special. Quite expensive for that.

Have super-fast and fresh dishes conjured up before your very eyes. Very tasty and very cheap for children in the menu (with drink) for families. Gladly again. 😉👍

After a long time we were at Vapiano again. The lasagne was tasteless and the partly burnt pizza was mediocre. The lady at reception was very nice, but the pizza maker was very grumpy. You weren't allowed to say the wrong word to him. The other employees behind the counter gave the impression that guests were more of a nuisance. The waiter who was cleaning up picked up used dishes before we had even finished eating. Unfortunately it didn't convince us.

Nice pizzeria, only with self-service, so the cosiness of a pizzeria is lost. Very friendly staff, clean and fast. I was here this summer. My grandson's pizza was very good, unfortunately I was disappointed with my pizza. This was vegan, but I didn't like it at all, the cheese tasted artificial and sour, you had to look for the mushrooms, and the dough was great. I scraped off the "cheese", I've never eaten such a bad substitute! However, I would go to this pizzeria again because everything else was great and also to give the other vegan dishes a chance.

Well-run Vapiano, lots of nice seating options. You have to want the concept.

I had a calzone pizza. It was really tasty but totally burnt at the bottom. Luckily I wasn't that hungry. I then only ate the topping on the top of the pizza. The waitress didn't respond at all, even though I visibly placed the burnt dough base on the plate. The service in Berlin is better.

Probably the best pasta in town. Prices got higher, but I guess that's normal.

Vapiano is just standard. Food was tasty. Toilet clean.

Danger! Self-service. EVERYTHING TASTES GOOD. EMPLOYEES ARE NICE AND FRIENDLY. You just have to choose what you want and then go to the counter and order. Pizza tastes good, as does everything else like lasagne or bolognese. You can take a seat inside or outside and enjoy the atmosphere.

So vapiano, you really didn't shine today. Unfortunately, you've been slacking off for some time now (fewer ingredients for the pasta (e.g. vegetables)), but today was really bad. It happened quickly, but that was also a positive thing and it's not worth it to me. In the past you were asked whether you wanted garlic or chili with it, there used to be bread. My food was totally over-seasoned today (too much salt and pepper, I could hardly eat it). I wasn't asked for a drink either, only when I asked. Vegetables were touched with hands without gloves or a spoon and, as I said, far too little. And the price for that. It really doesn't work. And it always depends on the cook, his mood and how much of the ingredients he uses. There used to be seasonal dishes, for example now in autumn with pumpkin or something like that. There doesn't seem to be any currently in October. I'm not coming back for a while.

Had a delicious pizza yesterday. Despite the huge rush for the festival of lights, the service had everything well under control. Cheers!

It's great to watch the chefs prepare fresh dishes and to be able to make special requests at short notice. It tastes very good and you can eat outside or in the restaurant downstairs and upstairs. Larger groups can also sit comfortably at various seating areas. Salads cook faster than pasta dishes and pizzas. You should keep this in mind if you really want to eat at the same time.

There used to be real pizzas here, but now it's more like gratinated bread. The dough doesn't really turn out fluffy, and the typical pizza smell and taste are completely missing. Formerly a restaurant, now more of a self-service fast food restaurant.

This Vapiano restaurant is located in the immediate vicinity of Augustusplatz, the university and the center of Leipzig. It also offers the option of ordering directly from Vapianisti instead of at a terminal. Since the restaurant is always busy, you have to expect long waiting times. However, the staff manages to ensure a pleasant stay with friendliness even under stress. The card is Vapiano, you know what you're getting. Basically, the restaurant makes a clean impression, and the ingredients used are also fresh. It's nice that the noodles are really cooked through here. The ambience takes a hit. The ground floor is far too small to accommodate all the guests in a relaxed manner. The stairs are also too narrow to comfortably find a place on the upper floor. This works better in other Vapiano restaurants that are spread over two floors.

The food is great & tastes great but the atmosphere is not very inviting (more reminiscent of a better cafeteria)... I had to sit at the bar because there was no space left!

Food (pasta) very salty compared to other branches. We had to wait about 20 minutes for the food and there were only a few tables available that still had the dishes left by previous visitors.

Very tasty food, always happy, can only be recommended.

Unfriendly staff as possible. At reception, not a hello, not a smile and we won't talk about the cooks who literally slam your dish on the counter without a word. Even a “bon appetit” is too much to ask.

The food was very good, but unfortunately the staff has dropped a lot. Some of the food was missing and some wasn't prepared properly. Tables were dirty. Too bad...

The food was really good. No question. Aaaaaaaaabut......the concept that you stand in line at the counter and only a maximum of 2 dishes per cash register are prepared at once....well, really. That doesn't work at all! How long are we supposed to wait? Especially when everyone orders multiple dishes. And the “best” thing is that you have to get the drinks yourself from somewhere else afterwards. To be honest.....but it never tasted good again.

Pizza and pasta were good. Relatively long waiting time for the noodles. DJ played good music.

I actually eat here every time I'm in Leipzig. I really like the concept and the pasta dishes.

Fast and quick processing of the order. Unfortunately, without asking, the cook ground a lot of pepper over the pasta dish so that it was quite spicy.

After a long time we went to the Vapiano again and for the first time in Leipzig as there is no longer one in Magdeburg. It was a pleasure again...

Was as always - quality great, quantity completely sufficient and very nice staff.

So in itself very chic. When I go in there for the first time I don't know what to do. As a guest you are used to sitting down and being entertained, but that is not the case here. Please always go to the counter first.

Unglaubllich habe ich hier die leckerste Carbonara gefunden. :) Wenn Sie herzhafte Pasta auf die nächste Stufe bringen möchten. Das hier wird Ihr Lieblingsort sein. Ich bestelle Pasta immer beim talentierte und leidenschaftliche Köche Nick. Außerdem wurde das Pizzamehl professionell hergestellt, so gelingt der Pizzateig wie in Italien, die Soße am Boden ist nicht langweilig und auch die Beläge sind frisch. Somit kann ich dir garantieren, dass die Pizza hier besonders lecker und nicht gefälscht ist.

It was my first time in the store and I have to say it was world class. The food is prepared right in front of you, it's all fresh and super tasty, we were there two days in a row... top keep it up...

The carbonara is exactly as it should be, the egg yolk makes it creamy and doesn't set, that's how it should be.

I am very convinced by the concept and the products offered. The pizzas and paata are always freshly prepared. There is a large selection of drinks and also desserts.

I have always thought of this restaurant as a go to for italian food, and this pizza did not disappoint. They have a huge menu for all different types of pasta and pizza. What I love is the availability of olive oil, spicy olive oil, and a fresh basil plant at each table. You can ask for spices such as chili flakes and oregano to add on your dishes. I like the sitting area outside because you get to have a view of trams and passersby's, there are many tables inside as well.

Vapiano is all time classic. Stressed staff. Food is good, but I can also enjoy pasta for around €17-18 at an Italian restaurant without the stress of self-service. That's it for Vapiano.

The food was delicious and the preparation was quick, but the chef quickly seemed annoyed when he was asked to repeat what he had said.

Very tasty, great ambience and nice music

After a minor inconvenience (which we weren't even upset by) we were treated to a free dessert to make up for it. The food we ordered was amazing and we could taste the freshness of the pasta noodles. Overall a great experience.

The restaurant has a beautiful location with a great outdoor area and you can still find a spot even during rush hour. The concept of a la minute preparation worked really well in Leipzig with very nice staff (we had salads, pasta and also long drinks). Everything was very tasty and with extremely large portions. Not the bargain of the cheap pizza around the corner, but worth the price.

This time unfortunately, I was unlucky. For the first time I felt that the pasta was not cooked well and I felt that the Q employee who served me was in a hurry even though there was hardly anyone in the restaurant.

Folks, let me tell you, I had the absolute misfortune, the total disaster, of visiting this place in Leipzig—Vapeeano. What a joke! Believe me, you’ve never seen anything like it. They said, "Mr. Trump, you have to try this pizza," and I thought, "Sure, why not?" I mean, pizza, it’s usually fantastic, right? Wrong! So wrong! This was the single worst pizza, the absolute worst, that anyone has ever seen in the history of pizzas, and I’ve seen a lot of pizzas, let me tell you. I’ve had the best, the finest, and this was a total disgrace, folks. A complete and utter failure. Let’s start with the place. Vapeeano—what kind of name is that? It sounds like some kind of vape shop, doesn’t it? I walked in, and right away, I knew we were in big trouble, huge trouble. The place is dark, very dark, too dark to see anything properly. And it’s filthy, folks, so filthy. You wouldn’t believe it. I’ve seen cleaner truck stops. I’ve seen cleaner dumpsters, believe me. The tables, greasy. The floors, sticky. It’s like they’ve never heard of cleaning, ever. I almost turned around right there, but I thought, "No, Donald, you’ve got to see this through." Big mistake. Big, big mistake. Now, the menu. What a disaster! I’ve seen better menus at gas stations, folks. They bring this thing out, and it’s stained, it’s disgusting, it’s barely readable. But I see "pizza," and I think, "Okay, we’re in for a treat." No! No treat! The worst thing I’ve ever had. I ordered what they called their "specialty pizza," and let me tell you, if this is their specialty, they should be shut down immediately, right away. The pizza comes out, and folks, I kid you not, it looked like it had been through a war. A complete war zone, folks. The crust, burnt. Charred beyond recognition. I’ve seen burnt toast that looked better. And the toppings, folks, you wouldn’t believe it. Rotten fish, and I mean really rotten. I wouldn’t feed this to a dog. Moldy cheese, and not the good kind, not even close. Overripe bananas—who puts bananas on a pizza? And gummy bears. Can you believe it? Gummy bears! Total disaster. It’s an insult to Italians, to pizza lovers, to humanity, folks. I took one bite, one bite, and I nearly lost it. The taste was beyond terrible. It was the worst thing, the absolute worst, that I’ve ever tasted. Slimy, gooey, just awful. And there were flies, folks, flies buzzing around the pizza. Disgusting! You wouldn’t believe it. I had to call over the manager, and I said, "What is this? What is this mess?" And he just shrugged. Can you believe that? No apology, no nothing. Just a shrug. And the price! You won’t believe this, folks. They charged an arm and a leg for this garbage. Total rip-off. I’ve seen more value in a slice from a street vendor in New York City. Absolute scam. I told the manager, "You’re running a scam here, a total scam." And he just looked at me, like he didn’t understand. Unbelievable! So, folks, if you’re ever in Leipzig, do yourself a favor. Stay far, far away from Vapeeano. It’s a total disaster. The worst pizza in the world, the worst restaurant, maybe even the worst place on Earth. You’d have a better meal in a prison cafeteria, believe me. A total disgrace. I give it zero stars. No, negative stars! If I could give it negative stars, I would. It’s that bad. Just awful. A total disaster, folks. Total disaster.

The restaurant is self-service, which works excellently. The preparation is very good fast and you can even watch it. Although it was a bit more stressful at lunchtime, one employee (Smile) particularly stood out because of his relaxed manner; he actually caused a smile. The food was very tasty.

SELF-SERVICE, BUT ALWAYS DELICIOUS

Anyone who knows the Vapiano concept knows that it is self-service. We were warmly welcomed and briefly introduced to the concept. The meals were very tasty.

The food was delicious here and was prepared super quickly. Always my pleasure.

It was very nice when the guy helped to sort everything out. He asked where I was from and wished me something delicious. The salad was simply divine. I really liked. The portion is quite large. The prices are nice. Salad 15 euros. I liked everything, ate on the 2nd floor. Very nice and cozy.

The concept is brilliant. Nice service tonight.

Have now eaten here 3 times. And their food is quite ok for the price. And I will probably come here again. Tried pizza and pasta. And their pasta is probably the best for my taste.

Malgré que ce soit une chaîne avec un service en mode fast-food, j'ai été agréablement surpris par la qualité de la nourriture proposée. Visuellement, je n'ai pas été convaincu par les pizzas du coup j'ai opté pour les pastas ! Les pâtes sont délicieuses et sont cuisinées devant nos yeux avec des produits frais !

Self-service 2.0 A slightly different concept, but consistently implemented. Extensive map. It would be much easier if the stations were in the order they are on the map. Had pizza, it was big and tasty.

Stupid payment system...bad food...never again

A little more expensive but it tastes good. The Panacotta dessert for 5 euros tastes really good!

The food was great, you should take your time and check the different ingredients. It gets crowded at peak times, so reserve your seats early.
