Vapiano Leipzig is a popular Italian restaurant in the city center. Here, customers have their pizzas, pastas, and salads prepared in front of the chefs in an open kitchen. The restaurant concept is “self-service,” meaning guests order their food with a card and wait at their table. It stands out for its modern interior design, spacious seating, and relaxed atmosphere. Vapiano is especially popular with young people and tourists. Its main advantage is the use of fresh ingredients and the fast preparation of food.

We've been to VAPIANO restaurants in various cities several times, and this one is by far the worst. It started with an employee taking our order in a very rude manner. Apparently, there was a disagreement in the kitchen, as another employee walked through the kitchen with the comment, "Don't act like you're in kindergarten." The food itself was equally disappointing: the garlic and onions were burnt, the bruschetta was served on a much too small plate and piled high with a pile of arugula, so that everything fell onto the table while we ate it. Furthermore, it's probably well-intentioned that guests can see into the kitchen, but the noise from the kitchen, the music in the background, and the conversations between guests make the noise level far too high to create a pleasant atmosphere.

This restaurant was amazing. Great gluten free pizza! Tons of vegetarian and pescatarian options. Both the pasta and the pizza are freshly made. The pasta is made right in front of you and my picky daughter could specify how much garlic, chili, etc. to add to her sauce. The food was excellent. The chefs and servers were polite and efficient. One of the best places we have eaten, with something for everyone.

The staff is friendly, everything is clean, location unfortunately next to a main road. Unfortunately we would have expected more from the food because for the price it tastes very weakly seasoned

Pizzeria on Augustusplatz in Leipzig, self-service with clear explanations of how things work. The pizza is absolutely fresh, the toppings are average, the food is well-cooked, and the drinks are average. The staff are friendly and explain things.

Delicious food with, in our opinion, a fair price-performance ratio. The children's menu is recommended (drink included). Self-service provided flexibility and shorter wait times than usual. The knives were a bit hard to find, and the return of the dishes wasn't entirely clear. However, everyone left the restaurant full and satisfied.

A relatively long wait on a Monday evening around 7:30 p.m. Clearly too few staff for a self-service restaurant. The staff were only moderately friendly, but they complained loudly about the long hours when cooking, which is of little interest to me as a customer... The food was okay, and we found the portion size reasonable for the price.

Vapiano is my absolute favorite fast-food restaurant, especially here in Leipzig. The food is always delicious and prepared very quickly. Plus, there's a really nice view, and the atmosphere is both modern and cozy. I love coming here again and again!

The staff weren't that friendly. They weren't friendly when we ordered, and they were even more so at the checkout...We were charged twice for a dish, and when we complained, they gave us the money in a very grumpy manner without a word of apology. The food, however, was good, as we know and like from Münster.

The pizza is okay, large, and filling, but the taste isn't amazing. The price is reasonable, though. The staff, however, isn't that nice. I was there today and they were very rude, and my pizza was €2 more expensive than the menu. We also waited about 40 minutes for our pizzas...

A great self-service restaurant with extremely friendly staff👏

A very nice place on Augustusplatz. Large selection, even for those with a small appetite. You get a card per person on site to pay for yourself. Card payments are possible, and you only pay at the end at a special cash register. You choose specific dishes and have to walk to the different stations, for example, lasagna, pasta, or soup. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were sufficient. Very friendly staff, and you can also express your wishes. The food is prepared right in front of you.

The food is good. Service is nonexistent, except for clearing up at Vapiano. Not my thing; when I go out to eat, I want to be waited on.

Have been to a few places over the years where it has been really good. But this one just didn't go as planned. Only got one pizza but two were ordered. The lasagna wasn't hot. And gave it up. It was just reheated. No apology or any form of compensation was offered. We left and won't be going to Leipzig again.

The food tastes very good and is prepared fresh in front of you. There's something delicious for everyone. You get a card at the entrance, which you then use to pay. If you have everything you need, the price/quality ratio is very good.

Vapiano in Leipzig is within easy walking distance of the main train station. As is typical with Vapiano, you receive a "credit card" with which you can go to the respective counter (pizza, pasta, etc.) and order your meal, customizing it to your liking. Preparation takes place live, and you can even chat with the chefs. The staff clears away dishes and glasses outside and asks if everything is OK (as it should be!). The restrooms are clean. Great.

Good food and very friendly staff! Just be aware when sitting outside that there are a lot of homeless people in Leipzig that will ask for money.

Update July 25: People were asked for garlic and chili, and also for drinks. Prices have gone up again compared to the last visit. That's okay, but then the quantity has to be right. And unfortunately, that's getting smaller and smaller. Even less vegetables; you have to search for chicken (chicken piccante). That's not possible. Either the same prices and less, or more expensive, but with more ingredients. So now it's just regular pasta with mini vegetables and pieces of meat. Too bad, I don't go out for that. I can do that at home. So, Vapiano, you really didn't shine today. Unfortunately, you've been slacking off for a while now (fewer ingredients with the pasta (e.g., vegetables)), but today was really bad. It was quick, but that was about it for the positives, and it's not worth it to me. Before, you were asked whether you wanted garlic or chili with it; before, there was bread. My food today was totally overseasoned (too much salt and pepper, I could hardly eat it). I wasn't asked for a drink either, only after asking. The vegetables were handled with hands without gloves or a spoon, and as I said, there were far too few. And the price for that is unacceptable. And it always depends very much on the chef, his mood, and how much of the ingredients he adds. In the past, there were seasonal dishes, too, for example, now in the fall with pumpkin or something. It doesn't seem to be available in October. I won't be back for a while.

The noodles weren't cooked all the way through. Our requests weren't accommodated. The staff was extremely annoyed and rude. The food wasn't well seasoned. The ingredients were unevenly distributed, making it inedible. Not worth the hype!

Delicious food and great pizza! There's even a small bunny-shaped pizza and a specially designed pasta on the kids' menu! Highly recommended! Excellent rail connections via almost all tram lines and just 1 km from Leipzig Central Station. There are plenty of available (but expensive) parking spaces at the Q-Park Augustusplatz right next to/underneath the restaurant.

My partner and I went to Vapiano in Leipzig today. For someone who has never been there before, it is probably very confusing. Thanks to the nice gentleman at the entrance who took us really well by the hand, it wasn't as bad as we thought. We had two pizzas, bruschetta and a drink each. The price for the food is absolutely fair and legitimate. The food really tasted incredibly delicious. The lady who prepared the bruschetta seemed very annoyed, which I thought was a bit of a shame. It was my first time there and I didn't place the menu correctly. Still, it was worth the experience.

I've been to Vapiano many times, and I really like it there. The food is always very fresh, the staff are friendly, and the place has always been clean. However, the noise level can sometimes be a bit excessive. You also have to speak very clearly when ordering, as some employees don't fully understand German the first time. However, all the employees are always friendly and helpful. I always enjoy the food there. I will definitely go back to this restaurant.

A Wonderful Experience! This has been the best dining experience I've had so far. The restaurant operates on a self-service system, which was new to me in Germany. Thankfully, the lady at the front desk was incredibly kind and took the time to explain how everything works. To place your order, you go directly to the counter where the chefs are cooking in front of you—a unique and engaging setup. I ordered a pasta dish, and I must say, the chefs were among the most humble and accommodating people I’ve encountered. They happily customized the meal to suit my preferences and prepared what turned out to be the most delicious Pomodoro pasta I've had in Germany. I’m truly impressed by both the food and the service. Highly recommended!

I had the opportunity to try it in Switzerland before, it is a very tasty and practical place that has never compromised its standards.

The concept doesn't convince me. Bringing the food and drinks up the stairs yourself is more of a job for amateur waiters. The calzone wasn't cooked through on the inside. The cheese hadn't melted yet. The taste was okay, though.

Very delicious carbonara, nice atmosphere right in the city center so you can reach everything on foot. Only the ordering process was semi-finished. The colleague hardly spoke German and you had to ask 2-3 times what he said, but it was also slightly loud when ordering

Food was great. A service worker asked two girls behind us if they would like a blanket, which was then brought. As he walked back and looked at me, he didn't consider asking us for a blanket in the fresh weather. Absolutely unacceptable!

Nice place for a quick bite, perfectly placed and the quick turnaround means you'll find a place when other Restaurants are already full. The concept is not really my cup of tea, but Vapianos is a warm and bright place that serves lovely Italian dishes. But if you only offer a certain variety of pizza then give a wider choice of extras you can add to your topping. That is surely not slowing you down!

Always an experience. We have loved it for years and come back every year. Even though there are always different chefs there, the quality is consistently great.

Very interesting purchasing principle. You order your dish directly at a counter from one of the chefs who prepares the food right in front of you. Special features of the food, i.e. whether it is vegan, lactose-free or gluten-free, are clearly marked on the menu and can be selected for many dishes. There are also certain configuration options (e.g. which pasta you would like) for many dishes. At the end of the visit, you show an employee at the exit your card on which your orders are saved and you pay. We even got a small gift in the form of a Haribo bag. If these were available without gelatine, everything would be perfect. 👍

We ate there on a Saturday, it was really busy and it took quite a long time before I could order our food. We ordered spaghetti carbonara and pizza salami, but unfortunately we didn't like either of them at all. Very unfortunate. Otherwise the service was very friendly and helpful👍

In general, you have to like the processes at Vapiano and be able to handle the ordering process, which is divided into different types of food. However, the allergy information and, above all, the handling of the need to eat gluten-free and contamination-free was flawless during our visit. A menu with an allergen filter is available online for each location, detailed information was available via phone call (Leipzig “only” has gluten-free pizza) and at the ordering point the request to describe the process and be allowed to track everything was respected. A nice experience.

Very unfriendly and unpleasant staff. We were just nearby and urgently needed a toilet, I have limited health in this regard. Of course I would have paid for it too...But one thing is certain, no matter which Vapiano, they have gotten rid of me as a customer and I probably won't make any recommendations. We were lucky and got a good seat in the upper area. The Vapiano was very busy on this 3rd Advent weekend. Despite the full house, we were kindly allowed in. Evening with a DJ and a view of the Christmas market's Ferris wheel.

Unfortunately my visit was nothing special. It was extremely warm in the interior due to the heating, which was very uncomfortable, and I wanted to get out as quickly as possible. I ordered a pizza, which unfortunately was mediocre: a bit burnt and too salty.

Food and ambience was ok. Unfortunately, it was only after the payment process that we discovered that we had been billed for an incorrect and therefore more expensive dish. That doesn't work at all! We didn't see what was booked in when we placed the order and of course we only received a receipt after the payment process. I find it very annoying that everything is not transparent thanks to these maps. That literally screams fraud. How do you want to prove what you ate after paying? I'm not sure if we'll really come back again. There are also other beautiful locations.

They should investigate the case of racist behavior by the store

As a tourist in Germany, I had a truly shocking and racist experience at Vapiano. It is incredibly sad to witness such discrimination in a modern society. The most outrageous part was being charged extra just to use the restroom, while others—who didn’t look foreign—were allowed to use it for free. This kind of experience is rare to see anywhere in the world, and it left a deep impression on me. No one should have to feel singled out or treated differently based on their appearance. It’s disappointing that such discrimination still exists, especially in a place that should welcome international guests.

Disrespectful large group of tourists refused to use the toilets with statements that people like you are not allowed to use them (people with a migration background)

Fast and super nice service. Delicious fresh food.

Ambiance and service staff are super friendly and very helpful. The business model is top 👍 The audience is mixed and when the sun is shining you can enjoy your food outside. In my opinion, the pasta needs to cook a little longer, when cooked it is still very sticky and the spaghetti in particular is difficult to roll up. But they still tasted good 😋👍
