Usagi in München

The absolute plus point is the very tasty food. However, the portions are sometimes significantly too small for the prices. It's also questionable whether you have to play heavy metal at high volume all evening long. Definitely worth a visit, but you shouldn't go there if you're very hungry and expect a higher bill.

One of my favorite places in Munich. Very nice food and atmosphere. Great choice of Sake.

I rarely write reviews unless it was really shit, or in this case, extremely good! Omakse style, surprise us! Every dish was top, the crew in the kitchen knows what they are doing. The guys in service too - we had great wines. Must try: Sweetbreads, salmon in butter sauce and miso caramel rice pudding. Cheers

The Usagi is just great. Street art in a cozy atmosphere. Cool sound. Best wine. Creative food and a mega team! I LOVE IT!

You can eat Asian food on every second corner in Munich. But Usagi is unique - especially because of its aromatic, creative Japanese cuisine. No course is boring, everything is finely balanced and surprising. And the service was very attentive and friendly. Great restaurant. Stay as you are!

Had very nice expectations on this Izakaya bar, but left kind of disappointed. We ordered Edamame, Karage, Nasu Dengaku, Gyozas, Takoyaki, The daily Hamachi dish, the Pork Belly, and the cheesecake. The service was a bit caotic. The edamame came quite late in the meal, and the first dish showing was the chicken karage. Would have expected to have a more natural and sense ful order to serve things. The Hamachi dish, was very disappointing. The mandarins clove were bigger than the 5 tiny piece of fish underneath. Completely out of balance and no sense at all. Either rise the price of the dish and serve a proper dish of Hamachi, or don’t do it. Feels you are laughing at your client with the dish you served. We order the pork belly in the middle of the meal. The waiter forgot about it and had to wait quite long and remind him. Finally, The pork belly came cold, glazed only on one side, with some sugar on concentrated at the top caramelised by a torch, but not evenly. No magic at all. So sad, a dish that could easily be the highlight, makes the way out to the table like that. The rest was good. Best was the cheesecake, that says also a lot. I hope it helps the chef to open the eyes en re-think the food that arrives to the tables on busy Saturdays. Is really a pitty, because the concept and the idea behind the dishes are amazing, but…. Wrong execution killed the magic , at least this time.. Will give a second chance. Hoping during the weekdays is better…

Small and extremely expensive portions that were precooked and ready in 2 mins after the order. Different prices in the menu and at the bill. The reason according to the personnel „they forgot to update the menu“. When I asked for a new bill she was very unfriendly

The ambience was really nice, like a Japanese izakaya, and the drinks were delicious. Unfortunately, the waiter was a bit pushy and constantly tried to convince you to do more things, which I found to be more of a sales pitch than a recommendation. According to the waiter, the main course - ramen - had been sold out since Friday, so we opted for the 'tapas'. Although they tasted good, they were extremely expensive: €9.50 for half an eggplant or €21 for a can of mackerel. I could see him opening the can from where I was sitting. I found the food simply too expensive for what was on offer, even if the ambience was pleasant.

Nirvana tunes, stable guys with Iron Maiden shirts and tattoos and a high standard of fusion interpretation of Japanese cuisine create the flair at Usagi. Not everything was great, but almost everything: whether knuckle, marrow, chicory or sauerkraut - if you're looking for something different, you'll find it here, in almost every respect. It's worth it!

Punkrock Izakaya!!! 🤟🏻🤟🏻 Take my advice: Trust the staff! Take the chefs recommendations on food and wine, get yourself an amazing drink from bartender Niko afterwards and just enjoy the vibe! Always a pleasure, never sober!

We had a really unique evening here where everything was just right. A lot of time was taken to explain the menu to us and what options there were. We then decided on the surprise menu, which was tailored to our preferences and tolerances. The individual dishes were all very good, especially those with fish. The service was very attentive but not intrusive. Overall a really great experience. Highly recommended in a small group, then you can try a lot of dishes.

The food was very good, but we were told right at the beginning that the ramen was already sold out (Sunday at 7:00 p.m.) and when we wanted to order something, it was also sold out. But what makes me write this review is that we were also offered water right at the beginning. When this bottle was empty a new one was brought. €6.50 for tap water, when asked it was explained that it had passed through a filter system. :/

Wonderful Japanese restaurant. Had the eggplant and the spinach dishes and they were both very solid.

It was cozy and you felt like you were in good hands. The waiter and waitress put together a menu for us and were always there. We would have liked to stay longer, but the table was reserved again.

Bin zufällig hier gelandet und absolut begeistert! Die Gerichte sind außergewöhnlich und unglaublich lecker, dazu eine fantastische Auswahl an Getränken. Die Atmosphäre ist super entspannt und einladend. Das Personal ist freundlich und aufmerksam – einfach top! Klare Empfehlung, wir kommen definitiv wieder!

The two of us had dinner here this evening and absolutely loved it! Through the sharing dishes we were able to try out and share many different things. Today we tried dishes that we had never eaten before and every dish was simply delicious and we were not disappointed. The ambience was nice and the waitresses were all very welcoming. I can only recommend it!

I've been here twice now, and I have to say that I’ve been a bit disappointed both times. The restaurant has a cool vibe and a nice atmosphere, but there have been issues with the food. The first time we visited, we were looking forward to having ramen, but it was already sold out by 7:30 PM. On our second visit, they had run out of rice, yet we were still charged full price for all the dishes and weren't offered any alternatives. Since the portions were relatively small and there was no rice included, we left still hungry. Considering the high prices, what you actually get doesn’t seem worth it. Unfortunately, we likely won’t be coming back.

The store was an experience in a completely positive sense. From the lovely staff (especially the handsome Nando's) to the delicious food. Would recommend everyone to come by and find out for themselves how great it is

It's like being invited to dinner with friends, except your friends can cook really well. Usagi is a truly fantastic place. Because above all it does one thing that few places in Munich can do. High quality and freshness of the food combined with a very calm and unpretentious service in an atmosphere that invites you to spend a great evening alone, with friends, with a date, whatever you want. The glazed pork belly is a dream, the kimchi delights with a fantastic balance of crunchy, sour, spicy and sweet. Although we're not big wine connoisseurs, the place offers a great selection of indie wines, sake and more. Absolute recommendation, thank you for a great evening. Great team, great place. x

I really loved the service and drinks - their cocktails are really great. Foodwise I must say, I was quite disappointed, maybe due to high expectations. In my opinion, the food is just „too fusion“ and some dishes that I believe were meant to stay more on the original side were made not really honoring the beauty of Japanese cuisine, i.e. the Buta or the Horenso. In my opinion, not quite worth the price.

Ich war mit einer Kollegin hier, die das Restaurant von Ihrer Tochter empfohlen bekommen hat. Ein kleines aber feines Lokal mit Aussenbestuhlung (Bänke) . Sehr netter Service und tolles Essen. Der Wein war auch super. Einziges Manko, unser Tisch war nach 2 Stunden bereits weiter reserviert. Wir sind dann zur nächsten Bar gewechselt. Toller Abend, absolut weiter zu empfehlen!

Awesome Japanese tapas bar with very friendly service and huge variety of food. It's a little bit on the expensive side but sooo delicious. Will definitely come again to try more food and sake! Also highly recommend the dirty ramen

Very unusual, but so delicious! Today I decided on salmon tataki from the daily menu and gyoza (+ cheddar) from the "normal" menu, the latter half filled with veggie and half with chicken. Both really great! Yes, it's not an inexpensive treat, but it's something special. There was also a Japanese beer (tasted okay, international standard a la Heineken I would say) and finally a sake, which also went perfectly.

The ramen, which is always available on Friday lunchtimes, is highly recommended. Very varied and unusual dishes in terms of taste that offer a contrast to the classic ramen restaurant.

Excellent and warm service which is hard to find in Munich! The food was also really exceptionally good and surprised us with new flavours during the dinner of 6 courses. We also loved that the idea is to share and try many different dishes together. Also, our allergies and special requirements were taken kindly into account. We will definitely visit again 👌

My second time here. Worse than last time last year, we had big issues chewing the beef and it’s too expensive— five small slices of beef with some kimchis costed 20 euros. Very small portions.

The wine was good. We had ordered some dishes that came very quickly, which surprised us slightly. The restaurant was full, the kitchen is open, so you and your clothes just smelled like food, very unpleasant. Expected more and left disappointed.

The food is delicious, but the experience is marred by other aspects. The portions are tiny. Although it is pointed out that it is intended to be shared, everyone only gets a bite. The prices are too expensive for that. Anyone who is not prepared to spend €50-60 per head just on food will go home hungry. In addition, the waiters are quite pushy and constantly want to pressure you to order more and more. That's a bit uncomfortable. Overall okay, but not a recommendation.

We invited our customer to Christmas dinner. Something went wrong when ordering a table. But Sex Service reacted extremely well and uncomplicatedly. Then we listened to the waitress's recommendations and let ourselves be guided through the evening with culinary delights. The food was sensational!!!!

It's always worth a trip! Simply unique in this combination. If you think about how well the food and drinks go together - just good. I like the atmosphere so much because the interesting guests and the cool staff complement each other so well. The furnishings are detailed and unique. The Usagi is and remains a pearl and stands out from the crowd.

Scheinen die gleiche Erfahrung wie Frau Paola (Kommentar weiter unten) gemacht zu haben. Lockiger Kellner mit Septum-Piercing echt unmöglich und respektlos. Haben uns zum Ende nicht mehr wohl gefühlt. Essen sonst echt gut.

Super Essen, super Ambiente. Wenn man den Tisch aber schon für 2h reserviert, beim rein kommen dann gesagt bekommt, dass der Tisch 1:45h reserviert ist und man nach 80 Minuten die Rechnung bekommt mit der Bitte, dass man sich an die Bar setzt, weil die nächsten Gäste da sind, finde ich nicht wertschätzend. Man muss in München um den Umsatz kämpfen, voll ok. Aber die Gäste, die auch Umsatz gemacht haben, sollte man schätzen und denen den Zeitraum geben, den sie brauchen. Wenn diese, die 1.45h überziehen, voll ok, was zu sagen und höflich auf andere Sitzplätze (z.B. Bar) aufmerksam zu machen. So aber.....eher unpassend. Ich würde mir wünschen, wenn ihr euch das zu Herzen nehmt. Entweder die Buchungszeit verkürzen (ihr liefert ja super schnell das leckere Essen) oder die Gäste die Zeit einfach "aussitzen" zu lassen. In Hoffnung auf Besserung, gerne wieder!!!!

Super leckeres Essen, und Ambiente in Ordnung. Könnte besser sein. Ich schreibe eigentlich nie Bewertungen, allerdings gibt es dringenden Verbesserungsbedarf beim Service. Blonder Kellner mit Locken und Piercings ist leider sehr unfreundlich und unprofessionell. Wir haben uns total ignoriert gefühlt und es hat ewig gedauert bis wir bedient wurden. Als wir zahlen wollten, wurden wir dann mehr oder weniger einfach sitzen gelassen :( Nie wieder!

The food was good. Since it is more oriented to drinks, they dont have a lot of food options (which is quite normal in izakaya places in Japan) so you need to understand it is more like tapas in a friendly atmosphere with music. However, everything I tried was quite tasty and real japanese food. I will go again for sure.

Great place for friends sharing dishes and a nice wine selection

The place has a nice atmosphere. We ordered 6 dishes, 3 of which were fresh and delicious. The other 3 were sadly low quality (I wouldn’t recommend chicken karaage and takoyaki, they were just oily soggy pieces of dough, that lacked flavour) Very high prices. It was a nice experience, but I won’t go again.

Great lunch special on Fridays “Dirty Ramen”. Very tasty in every component. Vegan options available. Can strongly recommend.

Everything was delicious. Really really tasty - everything we tried (ramen, aubergine edemame, tuna w seaweed, eel, spinach, pork ribs, gyoza, yakitori) Bit expensive but superior for sure! Will come back!

The Ramen had absolutely no flavor. Dumplings were not special, and menu includes popcorn (I guess a neutral statement but .. not really what I was expecting). Way too pricey for the average / ok experience.

Cooles Konzept und sehr netter Service, leider in der Umsetzung doch mäßig... Der Laden ist cool gestaltet, leider war es viel zu warm drinnen! Dafür kamen die Drinks und das Essen sehr schnell. Das Essen war toll präsentiert, aber geschmacklich überraschend langweilig. Neben Fisch und Fleisch hatten wir auch Ramen. Die waren sehr gut! Kann man sich mal anschauen, aber nicht zu viel erwarten.
