Urban Eight in Freiburg im Breisgau

We've heard about Urban Eight before. Today was our first time there. We weren't disappointed. The food is prepared with great care and tastes just as good as it looks. The service was great and very fast. We'll definitely be back.

We spent a wonderful morning here with great food. It's simply amazing how beautifully everything is presented. Highly recommended. We'd love to come back!

I spontaneously stopped by Urban Eight after an appointment in the Zollhalle across the street. I opted for the "Autumn Bowl." Super delicious, freshly prepared, well-seasoned with fresh herbs, a generous portion, and a fair price. It was just before lunchtime, and the tables outside weren't entirely clean and were messily arranged. I had a nice chat with the manager's mother...very personable and nice! I'd love to come back 😉 All the best

It's shocking how often employees work there who are so sick that they should stay home and not handle food, just spreading their germs around. The staff is otherwise quite nice, but the price-performance ratio isn't right (restaurant prices for kiosk quality).

Today, three of us went to UrbanEight for the first time, on the recommendation of a friend. Generally, I have to say that the breakfast was very good, and well worth the price. The plates were very lovingly prepared. The service, however, seemed rather lackluster, with neither a warm welcome nor a "hello" or "goodbye." The tables were semi-clean; it must be admitted that the business perhaps didn't allow for a faster cleaning, but apparently allowed enough time for repeated breaks... the floor was particularly noticeable, as there was, among other things, jam stuck under two tables. I will give UrbanEight another chance and will be happy to update my feedback. However, my first impression was rather disappointing.

Far too expensive for the portions and ingredients. On top of that, the service is poor. I especially recommend that foreigners avoid this café or pay attention to the service, menu, and options offered.

We've been to Urban Eight several times and have always been very satisfied. Except for today, when they were open until 3:00 p.m. We were there more than 30 minutes before closing time to pick up a voucher and maybe have a coffee. We received an unfriendly welcome and were told that the kitchen was closed and the cash register was being processed, even though they were still open for regular business. That's not exactly customer-friendly, which is why we're not going there again for the time being. It's a shame.

Very lovingly decorated, extremely friendly staff, and really excellent food at what I consider a fair price. Both the homemade mango lemonade and the homemade croissant with avocado, salmon, and scrambled eggs are highly recommended.

Four of us went there for breakfast on a Sunday, having made a reservation. It took 20 minutes to order our drinks and food, and then nothing happened for 45 minutes; not even the drinks arrived. With all due respect for the restaurant industry and staff shortages...you can't take on so many tables if you can't get them served. When we complained 45 minutes after ordering, we were told we'd see how busy it was and whether we still wanted the drinks or not. When the food arrived, it was good quality, but some of it was already cold (scrambled eggs). At least we didn't get charged for the first few drinks. Still, never again on a Sunday!

WOW..... I don't even know where to start... When I walked in, it was already quite full, which is probably a good sign. Despite the busyness, I was seated quickly and very friendly. The food arrived in about 20 minutes, and I was thrilled! My burger was incredibly delicious, and the plates that were carried past me all looked delicious. The value for money is absolutely reasonable and worth every cent. I felt incredibly comfortable and will definitely be back with friends and family!

The service was furthermore rude, inattentive and gave no explanation for the obvious delay. We had even called ahead of time to make a reservation, but were reassured that there was plenty of space. Yet they told me that it was our mistake for coming, when there was so many people. Besides that, the food was definitely not worth waiting for. Bland, unfulfilling and nothing in size that could justify the enormous wait time. I cannot say it clearly enough *DO NOT COME HERE!*

Two of us went there for breakfast. The food was okay, although the scrambled eggs were almost cold. The pepper and salt shakers were clogged and looked unappetizing. It was loud and crowded. But the real downside, given the rather steep price, was the poor service. We had to wait forever to pay or to order something. The whole time, you're straining to check on the waiter. This makes breakfast, and eating, no fun at all! We certainly won't be coming back.

We went there for breakfast today and ordered breakfast for two people. The service was excellent, and contrary to many reviews, we didn't have to wait long. The breakfast was very plentiful and incredibly good. It was a great start to the day. Regarding the waiting times, I'd like to mention that you're happy to wait a few minutes longer for a freshly prepared meal. Quality is always more important than quantity. Some people should take this saying to heart.

As always, we were completely satisfied with our breakfast. The 45-minute journey was absolutely worth it. We love the sandwich with avocado and vegetables and felt very comfortable with the service and ambiance. Definitely recommended.

The breakfast was great. Top quality...but we waited 20 minutes for drinks and another 40 minutes for breakfast. Then we sat for almost an hour in front of dirty dishes...but we were lucky: the table next to us didn't get anything. The service is unfortunately abysmal, which is a shame, because, as I said, the quality of the food was top-notch. Hence the 3 stars. We probably won't go back.

If you're willing and able to wait 30 minutes for two drinks and then another hour for your food, this is a great place to go. It's not exactly cheap either, but considering the hopefully high-quality products, that's okay.

The food is very good. Unfortunately, it took 15 minutes for us to place our order, another half hour for us to get a drink, and then another half hour for our food to arrive. Meanwhile, the tables next to us, who arrived much later than us, were already getting their food and drinks one after the other. It's a shame. It is located in a very nice neighborhood. We usually go there for brunch(recommended), but the service was a bit slow, nonetheless, the staff are nice, and I would go there again. I am attaching a pic.

Urban Eight offers delicious lunch options every week, but it's also worth visiting for breakfast or dinner. Depending on the time, it can of course be a little busier, but pre-orders are always accepted and making a reservation also helps to prevent waiting times. So far, every dish has been an absolute highlight and there is enough variety on offer every week. The staff always looks out for allergies, is friendly to you and is always up for a bit of fun. So you always feel comfortable and at home here.

I had to wait 55 minutes for a simple milk coffee, I had to organize the sugar for it as well as a glass for my large water and cutlery too!? It is advertised everywhere that it can take a little longer because everything is freshly prepared, which is great in itself, but the cheese was really tarnished on the edge, at home my cheese easily needs a week in the open package in the fridge and I throw this slice away - here it is served hard... the champagne for breakfast was also forgotten. And you pay €110 for that

The food tasted quite good. However, we waited an hour for our coffee and the waitress didn't even apologize, but rather justified it. That doesn't work at all! Until the food finally came, we had to ask five times until we had everything (cutlery missing, glasses, butter...). Simply fewer tables should be occupied so that service can be guaranteed and the ratio is right again. But it was just a very relaxing and annoying breakfast. We won't come anymore.

Waited 1 hour for the food (scrambled eggs with croissant) & about 30 minutes for the drinks. The waitress then had the audacity to discuss with us as customers that other tables (who were there much later) “ordered at the same time”. Service, speed and friendliness are apparently a foreign word.

We wanted to stop for lunch today as we were coming from out of town, so we inquired in advance about the opening times via the homepage/Insta. When we arrived we were kindly informed that there was only breakfast available today. Unfortunately, it wasn't mentioned anywhere in the social networks or on the homepage. Months ago we were standing in front of a locked door without any clue. This was probably our last attempt. Unfortunately!

We made a reservation for December 31st and received a confirmation by email. Now, like other guests, we are standing in front of a closed door. A rejection by email due to a spontaneous closure would have been the least. After all, in the catering industry it is also expected that guests cancel a reservation in a timely manner.

We had reserved a table, but there wasn't one - it must have been planned. Then we were made to wait outside for 15 minutes. Then they left again. It's also way too loud and too narrow. Doesn't work at all.
