Urban Eight in Freiburg im Breisgau

I had to wait 55 minutes for a simple milk coffee, I had to organize the sugar for it as well as a glass for my large water and cutlery too!? It is advertised everywhere that it can take a little longer because everything is freshly prepared, which is great in itself, but the cheese was really tarnished on the edge, at home my cheese easily needs a week in the open package in the fridge and I throw this slice away - here it is served hard... the champagne for breakfast was also forgotten. And you pay €110 for that

The food tasted quite good. However, we waited an hour for our coffee, and the waitress didn't even apologize; she was more of a justifier. That's unacceptable! By the time the food finally arrived, we had to ask five times before we had everything (cutlery, glasses, butter, etc.) They should simply have fewer tables occupied to ensure service and restore the balance. As it was, it was just a very stressful and annoying breakfast. We won't be coming again.

The **Urban Eight** is a real gem! The sandwiches are simply unique – fresh, creatively topped and with high-quality ingredients that are perfectly balanced. A must for anyone who loves good bread! Added to this is the incredibly friendly staff. The waiters are really nice, attentive and make you feel comfortable from the first moment. The service is warm and professional, which makes the visit even better. Whether for a relaxed breakfast or a quick snack in between – Urban Eight is definitely worth a visit! Waited 1 hour for the food (scrambled eggs with croissant) & about 30 minutes for the drinks. The waitress then had the audacity to discuss with us as customers that other tables (who were there much later) “ordered at the same time”. Service, speed and friendliness are apparently a foreign word.

AMAZING! Found this place on google maps and it was amazing! Came at 9 and had the most delicious coffee, toast with avocado and scrambled egg, the waitress is STUNNING AND SO KIND and I had the best morning meal with my mom. Thank you!! Recommend!

Nice atmosphere, rather modern furnishings Urban Croissant tasted good, but the price was very high - €15.40 for a filled croissant is decent. As well as €4.60 for a 200ml latte macchiato. Service was impeccable!

We wanted to stop for lunch today as we were coming from out of town, so we inquired in advance about the opening times via the homepage/Insta. When we arrived we were kindly informed that there was only breakfast available today. Unfortunately, it wasn't mentioned anywhere in the social networks or on the homepage. Months ago we were standing in front of a locked door without any clue. This was probably our last attempt. Unfortunately!

We made a reservation for December 31st and received a confirmation by email. Now, like other guests, we are standing in front of a closed door. A rejection by email due to a spontaneous closure would have been the least. After all, in the catering industry it is also expected that guests cancel a reservation in a timely manner.

We had reserved a table, but there wasn't one - it must have been planned. Then we were made to wait outside for 15 minutes. Then they left again. It's also way too loud and too narrow. Doesn't work at all.

Staff completely understaffed. According to her colleagues, the boss is in bed with a hangover. Food overpriced and carelessly prepared. Cost of goods sold maybe €1.50 for €15. The soda is sparkling water with lime and cucumber pieces for €6. This is really almost outrageous. We were definitely here for the first and last time.

Nice cafe with a cozy vibe. The food was good but sometimes a bit awkward to eat as the bowls were too full. Great for instagram pictures I guess. Another star away because they're serving coffee out of a full automatic machine. I would think they would serve a good barista coffee. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options.

Food a 10/10, big compliments to the kitchen! However, the service is terrible, cards are carelessly thrown on the table, people look annoyed and we had to wait 20 minutes before anyone even came to the table. It took about 45 minutes for the first drinks to arrive.

The “Urban Eight” can only be recommended!! After a visit to the doctor in the Zollhof, we found the “Urban Eight” restaurant right opposite, a very good restaurant with super friendly service and an excellent lunch. Very good menu that offers something for every taste. We received a very friendly welcome and, even though it was very late in the afternoon, we had an excellent lunch. Fresh salads, a perfectly prepared salmon fillet with green asparagus and delicious potatoes at reasonable prices. Very nice atmosphere, very nice boss and very tasty dishes - what more could you want! We'd love to come back.

We've been to Urban Eight for brunch a few times now. Reservations were always very easy, even for larger groups. The breakfast is highly recommended. The prices are a bit more expensive, but the portions have always been quite large. Unfortunately, we had to realize again that we had to wait a long time for food and drinks. Today we had to wait three quarters of an hour for the drinks and the food only came after 1 1/2 hours. During this waiting time, the service didn't ask us once or offer us more drinks. Based on our experience, we will be more likely to visit other cafes in the future.

I needed a little break between appointments and I was already familiar with Urban Eight from a visit months ago. I am convinced of this restaurant. Very good food (had a small French breakfast) with various types of cheese, fresh figs, homemade jam, and fresh bread from a regional baker. The bread in particular was great, thick slices and very healthy. The boss is personal in the conversation and also has time for a small talk. The atmosphere is modern, but still somehow homely. Nice. Come back.

It's something different, modern and really an innovation for “Little” Freiburg. However, the service leaves a lot to be desired; when the store is full, it is incredibly loud and you can no longer understand your own words. Unfortunately the salad with beef strips was nothing, the meat was very dry and tough. Staff overwhelmed, it took forever for the food to arrive. A pity!

Was here for the first time today and I expected more, I have to admit 😅 I had the banana waffle and when it came I thought “ooookay?” 🫣 yes it looked pretty and tasty, but really expensive for 12.80 euros. There was hardly any fruit and I found that to be weak. So for the price you can expect a little more than 3 wafer-thin apple slices, 4 raspberries, 3 fig quarters, banana slices and 5 blueberries 🫣 I always don't care about the price if I'm in the mood for something, but there's simply no value for money here! A pity! Service was nice and quick.

Peut-être un petit moins pour la qualité du fromage et de la charcuterie, mais pour ce prix c'est plus que correct. Je ne peux que conseiller pour le petit déjeuner !

A friend (who has been there over 15 times herself - that's saying something) pointed us to this great restaurant. The breakfast was really incredibly tasty and the staff was just super nice, accommodating and funny :) There are not just run-of-the-mill dishes, but really cool creations and variations! The quality is also great!!! For example, fresh, delicious bread from a master baker, fresh and crunchy fruit, organic (scrambled) eggs, various homemade lemonades, ice cream from a well-known manufacturer in Freiburg and much more. So you've come to the right place for breakfast or brunch! Even as a vegan!!! Drink for dinner and cocktails too :) Thank you for the great stay with you, we will definitely be back! PS: EVERYTHING was very clean and tidy!

We were there for lunch for the second time and were very satisfied both times. The atmosphere inside and on the terrace is nice. The food was delicious and we received friendly service even though it was very busy. We particularly enjoyed the salads, but the meat dishes were also great every time. Had breakfast in the morning. We went there for the first time on a recommendation. Great food, very nice decor and really filling. In addition, the waitress (mother of the boss) was very personable and took great care of us. We will visit this location often.

The Urban Eight generally has a good breakfast and the cake is also quite good. The location and furnishings are also inviting and modern. Unfortunately the service is really bad. After we ordered, we were immediately asked what we would have ordered again. Then something wrong arrived, so we had to wait again for our straightforward order. The shop was also still empty. There were 5 people there with us. The matcha was one of the worst matcha I've ever drunk, full of crumbs and inedible. Completely careless and effortlessly done. Later we wanted to order some water, but the conditions changed our minds and we were forgotten. So we went to pay because we just wanted to leave. With such service, even the delicious food cannot convince. We wouldn't come back again.

We were there for brunch and loved the avocado bread! So delicious and a generous portion. Unfortunately the coffee wasn't that good but that won't stop us from coming back.

Leckerer Brunch mit qualitativ sehr gutem Essen in einer gemütlichen, modernen Atmosphäre. Der Service ist sehr gut. Preise sind für einen Brunch im Verhältnis etwas zu hoch. Alles in allem aber einen Besuch wert.

Pilzsuppe war top! Leider waren die Hauptgerichte ziemlich geschmacklos… wenig würzig… Der Service war eigentlich gut, leider wurde die Kritik nicht wirklich angenommen. Preise sind auch ziemlich happig und sehr lange gedauert! An sich das Cafe/ Restaurant war insgesamt sehr schön!
