Urban Eight in Freiburg im Breisgau

Laden war voll, daher hat unsere Bestellung leider sehr lange gebraucht. Als wir dann essen konnten, waren wir sehr zufrieden. Frisch und lecker. Würden wir jederzeit wieder machen.

I was there twice, the food is ok and service is friendly. Personally, I miss that certain something. Recommended for in between. When the weather is nice you can sit outside on the terrace.

We were there for lunch. The service was very friendly, the salads for lunch were good, as was our own soda. Priced for the performance at the limit.

We were the group with the baby. The breakfast was great, but what stands out is the excellent service. The lady was extremely friendly and very accommodating to us and all other guests. We will definitely be happy to come back again and again. Really great!

Good food (breakfast), too little shade and significantly too few staff on duty, resulting in extremely long waiting times.

Staff completely understaffed. According to her colleagues, the boss is in bed with a hangover. Food overpriced and carelessly prepared. Cost of goods sold maybe €1.50 for €15. The soda is sparkling water with lime and cucumber pieces for €6. This is really almost outrageous. We were definitely here for the first and last time.

10/10 points. Great place. We ate breakfast there twice. Simply good ambience, very fine food. They put a lot of effort into it, beautifully decorated and it just tastes so good. They really have an eye for detail (big thanks to the kitchen). The 2 beautiful service ladies are very nice and always friendly. Even when they are busy and understaffed, they always remain friendly. Thank you for the good service. You're doing really well.

Breakfast is ok. Beautiful arrangement of the plates. The warm dishes, especially the lunch menu, are not recommended. Too expensive for what is offered. Portions are very small and the taste is simply not convincing.

Nice cafe with a cozy vibe. The food was good but sometimes a bit awkward to eat as the bowls were too full. Great for instagram pictures I guess. Another star away because they're serving coffee out of a full automatic machine. I would think they would serve a good barista coffee. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options.

We had a great breakfast in a modern location with a very young but also very nice service. Absolutely recommended.

You can have a great breakfast here. A little more expensive, but if you sit outside in the sun it is a very nice atmosphere to have breakfast out.

Food a 10/10, big compliments to the kitchen! However, the service is terrible, cards are carelessly thrown on the table, people look annoyed and we had to wait 20 minutes before anyone even came to the table. It took about 45 minutes for the first drinks to arrive.

The “Urban Eight” can only be recommended!! After a visit to the doctor in the Zollhof, we found the “Urban Eight” restaurant right opposite, a very good restaurant with super friendly service and an excellent lunch. Very good menu that offers something for every taste. We received a very friendly welcome and, even though it was very late in the afternoon, we had an excellent lunch. Fresh salads, a perfectly prepared salmon fillet with green asparagus and delicious potatoes at reasonable prices. Very nice atmosphere, very nice boss and very tasty dishes - what more could you want! We'd love to come back.

We've been to Urban Eight for brunch a few times now. Reservations were always very easy, even for larger groups. The breakfast is highly recommended. The prices are a bit more expensive, but the portions have always been quite large. Unfortunately, we had to realize again that we had to wait a long time for food and drinks. Today we had to wait three quarters of an hour for the drinks and the food only came after 1 1/2 hours. During this waiting time, the service didn't ask us once or offer us more drinks. Based on our experience, we will be more likely to visit other cafes in the future.

I found the food very tasty, unfortunately the portion was very small. I thought the price was too expensive for the small portion we got. We also waited about 1 hour for the food.

I needed a little break between appointments and I was already familiar with Urban Eight from a visit months ago. I am convinced of this restaurant. Very good food (had a small French breakfast) with various types of cheese, fresh figs, homemade jam, and fresh bread from a regional baker. The bread in particular was great, thick slices and very healthy. The boss is personal in the conversation and also has time for a small talk. The atmosphere is modern, but still somehow homely. Nice. Come back.

Great and comfortably furnished location, delicious and well prepared breakfast (stulle with goat cheese and scrambled eggs). Very attentive and super friendly service. We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back.

It's something different, modern and really an innovation for “Little” Freiburg. However, the service leaves a lot to be desired; when the store is full, it is incredibly loud and you can no longer understand your own words. Unfortunately the salad with beef strips was nothing, the meat was very dry and tough. Staff overwhelmed, it took forever for the food to arrive. A pity!

Was here for the first time today and I expected more, I have to admit 😅 I had the banana waffle and when it came I thought “ooookay?” 🫣 yes it looked pretty and tasty, but really expensive for 12.80 euros. There was hardly any fruit and I found that to be weak. So for the price you can expect a little more than 3 wafer-thin apple slices, 4 raspberries, 3 fig quarters, banana slices and 5 blueberries 🫣 I always don't care about the price if I'm in the mood for something, but there's simply no value for money here! A pity! Service was nice and quick.

La formule petit déjeuner à partager (15.90€ par personne) nous a ravies. Le plateau est copieux, très bien présenté et le pain très bon. Peut-être un petit moins pour la qualité du fromage et de la charcuterie, mais pour ce prix c'est plus que correct. Je ne peux que conseiller pour le petit déjeuner !

Good food but way too expensive. The pancake portion is mini. Incredibly loud in winter, so much so that you can hardly have a conversation. There were five of us and one meal was forgotten. Only came after asking several times and after over half an hour. There are much better and cheaper cafes in Freiburg.

The selection of dishes is great and the quality of the food is truly unique. Everything tastes fresh, the portions are large and it just tastes great. A friend (who has been there over 15 times herself - that's saying something) pointed us to this great restaurant. The breakfast was really incredibly tasty and the staff was just super nice, accommodating and funny :) There are not just run-of-the-mill dishes, but really cool creations and variations! The quality is also great!!! For example, fresh, delicious bread from a master baker, fresh and crunchy fruit, organic (scrambled) eggs, various homemade lemonades, ice cream from a well-known manufacturer in Freiburg and much more. So you've come to the right place for breakfast or brunch! Even as a vegan!!! Drink for dinner and cocktails too :) Thank you for the great stay with you, we will definitely be back! PS: EVERYTHING was very clean and tidy!

We were there for lunch for the second time and were very satisfied both times. The atmosphere inside and on the terrace is nice. The food was delicious and we received friendly service even though it was very busy. We particularly enjoyed the salads, but the meat dishes were also great every time. Unfortunately we didn't take photos of everything. In the photos: side salad, small mixed salad with salmon fillet and chicken breast with baked potatoes and grilled vegetables

Had breakfast in the morning. We went there for the first time on a recommendation. Great food, very nice decor and really filling. In addition, the waitress (mother of the boss) was very personable and took great care of us. We will visit this location often.

Ambience is nice, but our cakes and pancakes tasted a lot like convenience food. Make the menu smaller and cook/bake fresh.

The Urban Eight generally has a good breakfast and the cake is also quite good. The location and furnishings are also inviting and modern. Unfortunately the service is really bad. After we ordered, we were immediately asked what we would have ordered again. Then something wrong arrived, so we had to wait again for our straightforward order. The shop was also still empty. There were 5 people there with us. The matcha was one of the worst matcha I've ever drunk, full of crumbs and inedible. Completely careless and effortlessly done. Later we wanted to order some water, but the conditions changed our minds and we were forgotten. So we went to pay because we just wanted to leave. With such service, even the delicious food cannot convince. We wouldn't come back again.

We were there for brunch and loved the avocado bread! So delicious and a generous portion. Unfortunately the coffee wasn't that good but that won't stop us from coming back.

Leckerer Brunch mit qualitativ sehr gutem Essen in einer gemütlichen, modernen Atmosphäre. Der Service ist sehr gut. Preise sind für einen Brunch im Verhältnis etwas zu hoch. Alles in allem aber einen Besuch wert.

Pilzsuppe war top! Leider waren die Hauptgerichte ziemlich geschmacklos… wenig würzig… Der Service war eigentlich gut, leider wurde die Kritik nicht wirklich angenommen. Preise sind auch ziemlich happig und sehr lange gedauert! An sich das Cafe/ Restaurant war insgesamt sehr schön!

Ich bin immer Mega glücklich, wenn ich weiß, dass ich bei Urban Eight ein Tisch reserviert habe.. alles ist immer so toll angerichtet und schmeckt Fabelhaft ! .. die Mitarbeiter sind freundlich.. und das Ambiente ist einfach nur zum Wohlfühlen ! Meine absolute Empfehlung für jeden der entweder was leckeres und gesundes snacken will.. gut frühstücken oder brunchen will.. oder auch mal abends Tapas essen gehen will . Frühstück am Sonntag! Essen: leckere Stulle mit allem Grünzeugs und Toppings. In diesem Fall war es Lachs. Dieser war leider nicht kalt sondern warm und kam geschmacklich nicht wirklich zur Geltung. Trotzdem lecker! Service: man muss beachten das wir am Sonntagmorgen zum Frühstück waren. Generell lange Wartezeit aufs Frühstück. Bei einem Zeitfenster von zwei Stunden ein bisschen schwierig das Ganze zu genießen. Vor allem das man danach wirklich „rausgeschmissen“ wird. Vielleicht sollte man dies bei den Reservierungen deutlicher kommunizieren. Manche mussten 30 Minuten auf ihre Getränke warten. Ambiente: tolle Location gibts nicht viel auszusetzen. Aber kümmert euch bitte um diesen doch etwas größeren Schimmelbefall vorne am Fenster zum Hotel hin. Das geht wirklich nicht.

Modern bistro type restaurant for some healthy and not so healthy food options. Some of the food and beverage items I found a bit pricey, for example, a large cappuccino for over 5€? I had a salad with goat cheese baguette slices. It was tasty. I missed some warm food options on the menu that were not pasta or something heavy, such as a soup other than pumpkin. The bowl was unfortunately not warm even though it stated on the menu it had fried pumpkins. Maybe offer a warm bowl? I saw some photos of a menu with burgers etc. which we did not receive. Not sure if that was an old menu or if that is more of a dinner thing. The place itself is cute, modern with a plant wall. It was not intuitive to see the entrance and there was no sign to help identify it easily. While I was there I witnessed several people trying to figure out how to get in. The staff was very nice and checked in with us several times which is not necessarily common in Germany. The place was not the cleanest I have been too. There were crumbs and stains on several on the seat cushions and several of the door handles felt dirty when touching. All in all, it's a place worth trying and it seems to be a popular spot for the lunch crowd.

Waren an einem Sonntag brunchen hier, war sehr gut! Ich hatte eine Stulle mit Ziegenkäse, war seeehr lecker! Was ich schade finde ist, dass es keinen Wickeltisch gibt, obwohl sehr viele Familien mit Babys und Kleinkindern dort waren. Es ist unangenehm das Baby am Boden im Klo oder im Restaurant (wo andere essen) zu wickeln…

Zum Start hatten wir 2 Lillet Wildberry, Gläser schön voll und gemacklich wie gewohnt 🙂 Es gab die Lachs und Italien Bowl, beides lecker 😋 Empfehle aber die Italienbowl, bissl nachwürzen und alles ist gut. Nachtisch hatte ich eine Panacotta mit Erdbeerspiegel, war auch sehr lecker für knapp 5 Euro. Einzig den Raffaello Dream hab ich nicht so verstanden. Er war kein richtiger Cocktails in einem großen Glas, sondern eher als Aperitif in einem hohem flachen Glas 🤔 Hat hauptsächlich nach dem Mandellikör geschmeckt, für fast 9 Euro, das etwas arg. War für mich in dem Sinne kein Cocktails oder kein Cocktails mit der Menge der 9 Euro kosten sollt.

Einfach 5/5 würde ich sagen, definitiv einen Besuch wert oder eher gesagt ein Muss. Sehr angenehmes chilliges Ambiente mit echt schöner Inneneinrichtung die passend zu nem lazy Frühstück echt entspannt. Sehr sehr leckeres Essen, was merkbar mit Liebe zubereitet wird und auch so schmeckt. Die Portionen sind groß und der Hunger dannach weg. Super freundlicher und zuvorkommender Service. Schön gestaltete Lokalität, geschmackvoll und gemütlich. Der Service freundlich, jedoch nachlassend in der Kommunikation. Wir warteten sehr lange auf unser Essen und mussten aktiv nachfragen. Worauf uns die Bedienung sagte, sie hätte auch schon zweimal nachgehakt und es würde bald soweit sein. Schön wäre es gewesen uns das aktiv mitteilen. Es wurde auch nicht mach weiterem Getränkewunsch gefragt. Es war mehr Kommunikation untereinander als mit uns bemerkt. Da könnte nachgebessert werden. Das Essen sehr sehr lecker und schön angerichtet. Großes Lob an die Küche.

Sehr modernes und gemütliches Ambiente. Die angenehme Beleuchtung und stilvolle Einrichtung sorgen für einen hohen Wohlfühlfaktor. Das Personal ist jung, sehr höflich und zuvorkommend. Auch der Humor und die gute Laune kommt nicht zu kurz. Das Essen wird frisch serviert und macht einen originellen Eindruck.

Super leckeres, authentisches Essen, das man nicht an jeder Ecke findet. Der Service war sehr freundlich und vor allem die gemütliche Atmosphäre ist hervorzuheben. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Ein tolles Restaurant mit Flair! Das Essen wird schön angerichtet und schmeckt sehr gut. Da das Restaurant gut besucht ist macht es Sinn zu reservieren. Ich komme gerne wieder.

Essen ist lecker aber das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis könnte besser sein. Wir müssten sehr lange auf Getränke und Essen warten. Insgesamt ist der Service verbesserungswürdig.

Wir hatten jetzt 5 Tage Catering von Janine und ihrem Team. Was dieses Team leistet und vorallem die Qualität des Essens ist sensationell!! Ganz großes Lob an das Urban Eight. Ihr habt ein Kunde dazu gewonnen und wir werden auch in Zukunft für unsere Mitarbeiter frühstück oder Lunch bei euch bestellen.

Ja, ja, najaaaaaa, was soll ich sagen. Nachdem das Viertel jetzt aufwändigst gentrifiziert wurde, ließen natürlich die zugehörigen gesichtlosen Cafés nicht lange auf sich warten. Wer denkt, in einem dieser modernen Cafés mit Barcode Speise/Getränkekarte gäbe es Hafermilch ohne Aufpreis, wird selbst in Freiburg enttäuscht und das soll schon was heißen. Der Eiskaffee war lau, ohne Eiswürfel und ziemlich klein für den Preis + Hafermilch Aufschlag...da schmolz die ehemals gute Laune schneller als die Eiswürfel von der Theke zu meinem Tisch. Zum offensichtlich veganen Eiskaffee (remember the Hafermilch my friends) gab es dann 0815 Kaffeebohne mit Schokoladenmantel dazu, die es den Eiswürfeln gleich getan hatte und gleich mitgeschmolzen war. Die vegane Stulle mit gegrilltem Antipastigemüse war allerdings echt super lecker. Die Portion war üppig und das Essen ingesamt nicht nur lecker, sondern auch instagramable, aber auch teuer. Das Personal war nett, kompetent und hilfsbereit (habe extra Einswürfel zu meinem warmen Eiskaffe bekommen, als ich gemeckert habe). Jetzt will ich gleich mal meine Vorschläge mit anhängen, die ich aus zahlreichen Besuchen andere Cafés für gut befunden habe und Leute, ich will ja, dass ihr besser werdet! los gehts: 1. Hafermilch Aufpreis abschaffen! Mal ehrlich, spätestens 2023 ist klar, dass dieser Aufpreis direkt in die Taschen vom Chef wandert. Denn bei aller Liebe und Verständnis für die Existenz von Kuhmilch, ist sie eben nicht mehr billiger als Hafermilch und wenn sie das noch sein sollte, dann kauf doch endlich mal ordentliche Kuhmilch! 2. Zu Kaffeegetränken oä. gerne eine Kleinigkeit reichen, aber doch nichts was nicht auch vegan variiert werden kann und bei dem Preis kauf doch einfach kleine Cookies/Kekse/Süßkram. Sieht viel schöner aus und hinterlässt eben nicht das Autobahngaststätten feeling, schließlich will ich hier verweilen, mich wohlfühlen und nicht ratz fatz wieder auf die Autobahn nach Sylt. 3. Kalte Getränke sollten kalt sein. period! 4. die kleinen peinlo Sonnenschirme abschaffen, die neben einem Sicherheitsrisiko (Wind hatte einen so verweht, dass ein Metallarm abstand) auch echt null Sonnenschutz geboten haben. 5. Seid kreativer was die Wahl der Strohhalme angeht, denn die aktuellen Teile sind auch optisch echt unterdurchschnittlich. Ich erwarte für den Preis ehrlich gesagt auch eher Glasstrohhalme. Die sehen besser aus und machen gleich ein schickeren Eindruck und den wollt ihr offensichtlich ja auch bedienen, oder? Alternativ: Nudeln, Metall oä. 6. Personal schulen, dass Gläser nicht oben angefasst werden, sondern seitlich....das ist Basic gastro Einmaleins. 7. Hafermilchaufpreis abschaffen. ...ich komme auf jeden Fall wieder, aber jetzt lasse ich euch erst mal ein bisschen Zeit, damit ihr die Vorschläge evaluieren und hoffentlich implementieren könnt.
