Umleitung in Köln

Yesterday, we had our departmental Christmas party at the bowling alley and were thrilled. Good bowling, good spirits, Kölsch straight from the tap – a little paradise awaited us underground. It was quite chilly down there, though. The staff was incredibly easygoing and friendly – ​​we'd love to come back.

We had the bowling alley, but the heating wasn't working that day. Bowling didn't warm us up either, but we were given blankets, hot water bottles, and pillows. The food was delicious and plentiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

We originally just wanted to grab a kebab after the Christmas market. But then we ended up in the coolest pub in Cologne. We were served the most delicious Christmas wreaths in all of Cologne. Celine did a fantastic job, thanks for the great evening!

A friendly, refreshingly unpretentious pub for the locals. Excellent service from friendly staff.

The staff are unfriendly ("No, I'm taking a cigarette break now," "Just wait until someone comes to you") and then simply pocket the tip, knowing full well they wouldn't get one otherwise. Nobody needs that.

First time there, opposite the "Stadtgarten" Christmas market in Ehrenfeld, and as soon as it closed, it felt like everyone went there instead. The staff were very attentive and friendly :) The women's restroom situation is a bit of a letdown; there's only one, which isn't the location's fault, but it's commendable that they have period supplies available – thumbs up! 👍🏼 I'll definitely be back! 🫶🏼

There's delicious Mexican food and dice cups.

I can't stand fans!!! If you're going to show football, then you have to allow the emotions too. FC forever. You'll never see me again!!!

This pub has kind of become my second home: the music is almost always good, there are several vegetarian and vegan options on the menu, the beer is cold and arrives quickly, the staff are incredibly friendly, and there's always something going on – every six weeks they have a really cool pub quiz, but even without the special events, I've never had a bad night there! I highly recommend it any time of year! There are also some pretty attractive people there, but that's just my opinion, of course.

It's a place where I can be who I am—everyone is welcome—the heart is open to everyone—I love the detour! It's important that places like this exist.

They're all nuts! Reservations at the bar! At an FC game! And then they keep them 10 minutes after the "reservation" is a complete loss of reality! Gentrified bar!

Quaint corner pub with a few outdoor seats, a bowling alley, and decent currywurst. The curry sauce is quite sweet but really tasty.

The Umleitung is a very welcoming place with great staff and a cozy vibe. It's often busy on weekends, especially in the popular outdoor seating area, where you can relax and watch the evening's hustle and bustle. Kölsch is always available quickly. But they also serve spritzers, long drinks, and even matcha lattes. The food is hearty and delicious :) Recently, there was even live music! The new owners are really putting in the work. It's great to see how our neighborhood pub is evolving!

The best part is the Nubbelverbrennung (burning of the Nubbel)! A cozy place with a heart; the pub quiz is always fun. The Kölsch and drinks are delicious; if they had passion fruit spritzer, everything would be perfect.

I rarely write reviews, but the Umleitung is simply the best bar in Cologne.

Great, inconspicuous pub. Nice staff, hearty, good food in large portions and lots of cosiness.

It's a shame, for some time now you can't walk past rubbish and broken glass in the morning, the rubbish collection is supposed to do it all, so we do. Really not a good impression for the surrounding shops. Especially not a good first impression for the detour! Everyone should do their part: encourage guests not to drop their rubbish and clean up their own mess! In the evening, the tables are not only set up over the sidewalk but also right up to the bike path and on the corner of the intersection, where guests and pedestrians are nuzzling each other, that's not good. O. No getting through! Please make more space for pedestrians and cyclists.

Textbook Kölsch pub. The drinks are served very quickly, the cuisine is also excellent and the atmosphere is cozy.

Original pub. No luxury but surprisingly good food.

Actually a cool pub, pleasant atmosphere, friendly service. Unfortunately, during Corona times, the unvaccinated were categorically excluded, and it was clearly stated next to the entrance: "Only 2G here, no problem!" That hurt a lot and I won't forget it, especially since the diversion was my favorite bar up until then.

Great pub with good food and fair prices

Unfortunately, since Uli handed over the diversion to his employees, the store can no longer be recommended. The staff is completely overwhelmed, orders are brought to the wrong tables, and you wait a long time for a drink even though it's not very full. It's important to show the guest how cool you are, service comes second. Unfortunately, regular customers are scared away. I'm afraid this won't last long. Too bad.

In the diversion, everything is freshly cooked except for stews and sauces for salads and meat, even the sauces for the currywurst. A visit is always worth it,

Nice place for a beer and People watching

We were there for a birthday party and ordered Jägerschnitzel and chili cheese fries. We didn't expect much - but it was really delicious. Service was super friendly and super committed. Ambience very wild, loud, original and rustic. It was a bit of a shame that the heating in the basement near the bowling alley couldn't be turned off in the summer. Otherwise a great location for people who are in the middle of life.

Very nice location, with very friendly service!👌Unfortunately the music in the background is a bit too loud, so you have to shout at each other when you have a conversation. Maybe a little quieter would be good😊. We had schnitzel and currywurst, very tasty.

We spent three nights in Cologne & all three evenings we were in the detour. It's the best restaurant in all of Cologne! The employees are incredibly nice and the food and cocktails are great! Ps. The Wildberry Lillet & Rhubarb Vodka are our insider tips. Thanks Jacob!

I went bowling with work colleagues in the diversion. Everything went well: fair prices, nice and attentive staff, delicious food, Reißdorf Kölsch from our own tap in the Kegelkeller, the cellar was adequately ventilated, music system including Bluetooth adapter, free WiFi (also at the bottom of the Kegelkeller, where you can otherwise there is no network anymore).

I just wanted to have a beer with my girlfriend because the pub looked very cozy from the outside due to the lights, but I fell in love with the place over the course of the evening. The staff was very friendly and personable and the atmosphere was simply great. Because we ended up staying longer, we ate there straight away. The chilli con carne & the shish kebab were very tasty & I would happily recommend it!

We only had one drink here. But this bar felt so cozy and nice I wanted to leave a review. The soft red lights are so nice and if you seat at the window you just want to stay there and keep drinking all night.

Tasty and relatively inexpensive

Too bad, no more changes to the day menu. The matjes was not marinated in the sauce and there were far too few apple pieces. To be honest, I prefer to eat at Früh am Dom.

We went bowling there and it may look a bit run down, but everything worked. You can connect to the boxes via Bluetooth and you have your own beer tap and a refrigerator with soft drinks and water.

One of my favorite Veedel bars 🫶! Great team behind the counter/in service! There's also the best beer, delicious little vodka-rhubarb-vanilla shots, delicious food and outdoor dining! You can easily stay there longer than planned🤩!!! Addition: It’s also great for private parties (I celebrated there myself🥳)!

After having enjoyed gluhwein and reibekuchen in Stadtgarten Christmas Market ( Stadtgarten Weihnachtsmarkt ) my twin brother and I decided to visit some of the great pubs in this area ,one of the first pubs we visited was Umleitung ,been here before on previous holidays to Cologne and always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit. A great looking pub, traditional, interior is light and airy, a cool looking serving bar dominates the main room, pubby decor and furnishings including plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside looking out and over to Stadtgarten. We luckily managed to get a table were two kölsch beers from Reissdorf Brauerei were deposited in front of us, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling, we just kicked back, chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub while we sipped our beers. A big fan of the various kölsch beers available in Cologne and the kölsch beers brewed by Reissdorf Brauerei are one of my favourites, a golden, light and hoppy lager style beer bursting with taste and very easy to drink, when this beer is served freezing cold as in this pub its such a totally delicious beer indeed, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality brew and sat with my twin brother, best beer companion in the world. We both really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to Umleitung we had a great time. Umleitung is easy to locate along Venloer Straße, a street and area teeming with pubs, bars, cafe's and restaurants. Opening hours are; Monday to Friday, open from 4pm. Saturday, open from 2pm. Sunday, open from 4pm. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.

We had been to the excellent Stadtgarten Christmas Market and we were going back to Rudolfplatz but before we went to there we visited Umleitung. Umleitung is a brilliant pub and restaurant that offers a superb food menu and Kölsch beers.The Kölsch beer is Reissdorf which is a brilliant beer and one we had numerous times over the stay in Cologne. The pub itself has a pristine interior with an amazing look and feel and is a superb pub to watch live sport.There are many fixtures and features relating to the local team the team being FC Köln. There's plenty of good seating areas and it has brilliant staff who are very friendly and very helpful.We visited here two times when we were in Cologne and both occasion's it was very busy. When we visited here we had a few glasses of Reissdorf Kölsch on both occasions that where perfectly served and well priced.An excellent pub and restaurant in a fantastic area of Cologne and easy to find from the tram/u-bahn or bus stop at Köln West it's a short walk away.(This is my 1st review of the Umleitung). Very pleasant pub at the Stadtgarten, Reissdorf Kölsch and cuisine at a very good price, best service and a cozy atmosphere. Very good cuisine.

I dined with my wife at the restaurant “Umleitung”. In addition to the tasty food, the atmosphere is particularly noteworthy. Young people who run the restaurant in a friendly and committed manner ensure a good atmosphere that is passed on to their guests. The prices for the food are cheap compared to Cologne. We'll be back and good luck!

Gutes Bier, gute Musik, schönes Ambiente

nette kleine Kneipe in Ehrenfeld mit Aussenbereich, leckere Currywurst und Frikadellen, kühles Bier,

Heute Pech mit dem Essen gehabt. Schaschlik mit viel Fettrand, Salat zu sehr in der Schaschliksoße und Fritten schmeckten nach zweimal frittiert. Schade, da sonst echt lecker. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich, die Temperatur ungemütlich kalt.

Hier bin ich schon vor 45 Jahren als Student eingekehrt. Und auch am Wochenende war es nach langer Absenz wieder schön, hier nochmal einzukehren. Netter Service, leckeres Bier und schöne Erinnerungen. Gerne wieder.

Was wollt ihr hören? Soll ich etwa vom besten Cordon Bleu aller Zeiten sprechen? Es ist so. Saftig, lecker, ehrlich. Soooo lecker. Dazu Kölsch, Frikadelle oder in umgekehrter Reihenfolge. Seit den 1980er-Jahre eine Institution im Veedel.

Atmosphärisch sehr tolle Kneipe. Wenn Fußball läuft, leider keine Gespräche mehr möglich. Das ist etwas schade...

Eine der besten und authentischsten Lokalitäten Kölns! Die Bedienungen sind auf zack, die Auswahl an Bieren ist für köln herausragend :-) Die Lage ist bestens und das Ambiente wunderschön. Die Kegelbahnen sind sehr empfehlenswert. Essen, Trinken, Feiern, Kegeln ... Alles top.

In kleiner Gruppe, mit Reservierung, den Abend mit leckerem Essen in gemütlichem Ambiente verbracht. Die Schnitzel sind eine Wucht!
