The fried sushi tastes very good. I've never really eaten sushi before. But I still find it quite expensive.

Unfortunately, the waitress was very cold and seemed uninterested in serving us. This made us feel unwelcome as guests. It's a real shame, because the restaurant itself is actually quite nice.

I ate there once. The food was good, but the service from the owner was abysmal. There was nothing to do in the place, and I was seemingly deliberately ignored when I asked for my bill. After what felt like an eternity, the owner or waiter finally took my money, and only in a snippy tone (I have no idea what he's got wrong with himself). Definitely unprofessional and not a good experience. A shame.

I've ordered sushi for pickup here several times, but each time there were communication issues – and the prices were so high. Today was particularly annoying: Instead of the ebi tempura rolls I ordered, I simply got four fried shrimp in a box – for 16 euros! When I tried to complain, they just said they'd have to contact me. In the end, I was sent away – without the correct order and without any kind of cooperation. Apparently, they'd have to throw it away otherwise. That was it for me – poor service, no understanding, and you're supposed to pay for it.

Terrible service, the waitress couldn't speak a word of German, and the menu had incorrect prices. When we pointed this out, she tore up the menu and charged us the higher price anyway. I wouldn't recommend it.

We were there on a Monday. There were more staff than guests, who were rather annoyed by the small number of tables (3). The platitudes were friendly, but the tone was more like telling you to leave quickly. My husband ordered a duck bowl, which was very tasty. When ordering, he had asked for the dish to be extra spicy. This was audibly communicated to the kitchen, but it still wasn't done, which is quite an achievement considering there was only one main course to prepare. I ordered sushi, which didn't come from the kitchen but from the sushi counter located in the dining room. The fish in the display looked very fresh. I ordered sushi with fried soft-shell crab and another variety with edible crab, which was also fried. Since there was no fryer or pot of oil to be seen or heard at the sushi counter, the shellfish had to be brought from the kitchen to the counter to be rolled up. That didn't happen. From the temperature and taste, you could tell it had been prepared several hours ago, which is a real disgrace considering the price is over €15 for 6 rolls. The rice in the rolls was also very mushy and tasted like it had come from the refrigerator. The place was empty, and they would have had plenty of time to prepare our food properly. Bottom line: If you eat here, just leave quickly so you don't disturb the staff on their phones. Don't order sushi, just a bowl, because it's apparently freshly prepared and not yesterday's.

Delicious! When we are in Cologne we like to go there in the evenings. Nice ambience and decoration. Clean toilets. You have to look for parking, but you can also walk a few meters for the taste experience 😊

We were the last ones in the restaurant yesterday and unfortunately I lost 100 euros in a note when I went back and the shop was closed, which is why I called this morning. After I asked, the answer was "no, there's nothing here, but they didn't leave much tip anyway." Apparently the gentleman remembered us and most likely he took the money as a "tip". No matter how delicious the food tastes, it's sad that interpersonal relationships are simply missing these days. Not recommended.

The sushi in this restaurant is absolutely recommended – fresh, creatively prepared and tasted at a high level. The atmosphere is also stylish and invites you to linger. Unfortunately, the service was anything but friendly. One had the feeling that one was more of a nuisance than a welcome person. Questions about the menu were answered briefly and annoyedly, which gave the visit an unpleasant aftertaste. A great dining experience that was unfortunately marred by the unprofessional service. Anyone who just values ​​the food will be satisfied - but there is still some catching up to do when it comes to the overall package.

We ordered through Uber Eats. Can't understand the good review. Chicken curry was super watery. There was very little udon tempura, the "soup" tasted like warm soy sauce and vegetables would have been nice. Karaage and Takoyako were limp and tasteless. Not recommended for the prices and will not order or recommend it again.

Good sushi, but lousy service – never again The taste of the sushi was okay, but nothing special - you can get better and cheaper elsewhere. What completely disqualified this place for me was the disrespectful waiter. To our completely normal request to serve the sushi on separate plates, he responded with a condescending “What’s the point of that?” – in a tone that I have never experienced in the restaurant industry. Rude, annoyed and completely out of place. Eating is one thing - but if you treat your guests like this, you shouldn't be surprised if they don't come back. For me that was it. And if the waiter is reading this, then I wish you much success with this approach.

More appearance than reality. The food was like an art installation, which is pretty cool in itself. The taste was very disappointing. Cucumbers already shriveled and the noodles a single sticky lump. You didn't feel welcome when you entered and I had the feeling of being a nuisance the whole time. If restaurant visitors are so disruptive, you might want to think about a delivery-only service.

Absolutely disappointing experience. The food was mediocre at best — a random mix of sushi and sashimi with nothing particularly fresh or memorable. But the real nightmare was the payment situation. After finishing our meal, we were casually informed that international cards aren’t accepted. Excuse me? The waitress claimed there were signs on the door, so we went to check — nothing. Then he shrugged and said, “It must have fallen off.” Seriously? The only sign was a tiny one inside the restaurant, in German, where no tourist would ever notice or understand it. When I asked what to do since my cards obviously didn’t work, I was laughed at and told, “There’s an ATM around the corner.” The audacity of that response was shocking. Not only was the staff incredibly rude, but I was also hit with ATM fees just to settle the bill. No apology, no understanding — just smug attitudes. Tourists, do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place. It’s not worth the hassle, the attitude, or the hidden fees.

A very nice restaurant with super delicious, beautifully prepared, and very tasty food and a super friendly waiter. We'll be back in a heartbeat if we're ever in Cologne again. Absolutely worth it. And the prices are absolutely top-notch.

When we entered, the first thing we were told was that we only had 1.5 hours to eat, which was not previously communicated when we made the reservation. We had just sat down and were asked what we would like to drink and eat. We ordered the drinks we had already selected, which were a bit sweet for our taste but otherwise very tasty. We were immediately asked again what we would get... when we asked that we needed a little more time to make a decision, we were only told again that we only had 1.5 hours, which created a rather stressed, uncomfortable atmosphere. After we ordered we got our starters: edamame and avocado salad with salmon tartare. Both very tasty! Unfortunately, our next course was already served and the starter plates were cleared away even though we weren't quite finished yet. When we pointed this out, the starter plates were simply left for us. When we started with the main course (sushi) we both quickly realized that we had definitely eaten better sushi, it wasn't bad but unfortunately not outstanding either. Now we order a portion of gyoza to test, which came quickly, but unfortunately the taste wasn't great either. We then ordered a scoop of mango mochi and then a scoop of macha ice cream. When the second ball was brought, the waiter rudely asked us if we had ordered more... because there were apparently too many orders for him. When we then asked for the bill and paid (with a tip, but a little less because we were unfortunately rather dissatisfied), the waiter clearly showed his displeasure in his reaction and, annoyed, cleared our table while we were putting on our jackets. Unfortunately, the ambience wasn't perfect for me either, which is unfortunately also due to the rather unfavorable shape of the room. Most of the tables are in a long, narrow row along a wall along the entire store -> little privacy. All in all, unfortunately not recommended, not good value for money! And the whole thing on Valentine's Day, a shame...

Best sushi in Cologne!! I've tried many sushi restaurants in Cologne, but this sushi shop is by far the best! The quality of the fish is outstanding – fresh, tender and perfectly prepared. The service is also first class: friendly, attentive and fast. The atmosphere is cozy – just the right place to spend a nice evening. If you love sushi, you definitely shouldn't miss this restaurant!!

Nice restaurant with Asian atmosphere

My absolute favorite sushi restaurant in Cologne! As a big sushi fan, I am particularly critical of restaurants in this category, but Umibar impresses me every time! The fish is always incredibly fresh and tender, the rice has the perfect consistency and what's more, the homemade iced teas and lemonades are also incredibly delicious. Every dish shows how much love and quality goes into its preparation. Dessert never disappoints either! The ambience of the restaurant is simply stylish, cozy and inviting. The service is always friendly, attentive and surprisingly fast. For me, Umibar is so good that I almost don't want to try other sushi restaurants anymore. Absolute recommendation!

It's just embarrassing not to accept Visa and Mastercard to save a few cents. For your information: these are not generally CREDIT CARDS, but mostly debit cards, which many banks issue as standard. You also have your shop in Cologne and not in Buxtehude.

We ordered food to pick up via the website. When we picked it up, we were told quite rudely by the employee there that no credit cards were accepted. To my astonished reaction that this was not communicated in the online process, the genius on site replied: “Why? “It’s right here,” and pointed to a small sign on the bar. Huh?!?! When I then asked him how I was supposed to be able to see a small sticker in the restaurant online ;-) he just repeated his extremely (customer) friendly statement. We then left the establishment without food. Conclusion: Do not accept KK in 2024 👎 This circumstance is then not clearly communicated on all channels 👎 Then give the astonished customer outrageous “explanations” 👎👎 PS: We then went to Sweet Sushi, 100 meters further. They don't take KK either, but at least they are friendly and customer-oriented.

The sushi was good, the miso soup and the wine too. I had dinner with friends and everyone was very happy with their food, the wine, and the friendly and attentive service. We felt very comfortable, just as comfortable as a little mouse that ran through the restaurant next to us. I like mice. Just not in the restaurant. We asked the waiter about it straight away and he said he would get an exterminator to take care of it straight away. I hope they get the mouse problem under control, otherwise I would recommend the restaurant. So unfortunately only three stars.

Sushi was very tasty, but the main courses are so. Three items from the menu were no longer current. Selection of drinks rather poor. Waiting time is also quite long. Paid about €75 for two people. Menu was very worn out.

Umibar offers an excellent selection of fresh sushi. The ingredients are fresh and the presentation is attractive. The service is friendly and attentive. The sashimi and the various maki rolls are particularly recommended. A great restaurant for sushi lovers!

Waren während einem JGA zum Mittagessen in der Umibar. Der Service war sehr bemüht und trotz ein paar Verständigungsprobleme hat alles geklappt und die richtigen Bestellungen kamen an den Tisch. Ich hatte Curry mit Huhn, Gemüse und Reis. Nebenbei noch ein paar Maki mit Lachs und Sushirollen mit Lachs und Gurke. Es war wirklich sehr köstlich. Mein Mojito war auch sehr gut und eine Wucht. Alles in einem, würde ich die Umibar auf jeden Fall empfehlen und nochmal dorthin gehen.

When it comes to the food, the location and the ambience, it is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Cologne. However, in 2024 it will simply no longer be viable that you can ONLY pay with a GiroCard, where it feels like 90% of banks only issue such cards for fees. You should really upgrade your system so that you can also use normal credit cards (we had to get extra money so that we could somehow pay in cash)

We have visited the restaurant several times and have always been satisfied. The food tastes very tasty. The tempura rolls are the best I've eaten so far! A point deducted for the service because one of the employees always works very listlessly and seems disinterested to the customers.

We waited over an hour for our food, having ordered appetizers and sushi rolls, and it took more than an hour to arrive. Nobody paid any attention to us or offered anything in exchange. You sit along the walls of a long tube and very close to other guests, you can't have conversations that you don't want anyone else to hear. Umibar in Cologne offers a cool vibe for sushi lovers, with friendly staff and a comfortable ambiance. It’s easily accessible by public transport, though parking can be tricky. However, be aware of their payment policy: payments with German EC cards only start from 20 euros, and credit cards aren’t accepted at all, which can be very inconvenient for international visitors.

We had ordered sushi online 30 minutes in advance, which wasn't even prepared when we arrived at the time we ordered, even though the restaurant was completely empty. After 15 minutes the sushi was ready, but the service staff didn't even apologize for the delay. In addition, less change was given back to me. The waiter just said that he would give it back to me later, but then apparently forgot about it or seemed like he didn't care.

Unfortunately, my experience at this Asian fusion cuisine restaurant in Cologne was extremely disappointing. The host showed inappropriate behavior, especially in these difficult times for the restaurant industry. Despite making a reservation two days in advance, I was accused of not specifically stating that I didn't want to be seated next to the toilets - a request that seemed absurd. It is unfortunate that such little things were not handled professionally by the host. The lack of hospitality was in stark contrast to the expected Asian culture. Hopefully, in the spirit of this culture, tipping will be seen as an insult. Unfortunately, the focus here seems to be on profit rather than a pleasant dining experience and hospitality.

Super tasty sushi, a large selection and good soups. Service pointed out to us that it could take longer, but the food still came after 10 minutes. A great price for such good sushi. Highly recommended! I would go back immediately.

Vorab, man sollte auf jeden Fall für Abends reservieren. Jede Bestellung wird frisch zubereitet und effektvoll Präsentiert. Das Sushi hat eine sehr gute Qualität und das Sashimi zergeht auf der Zunge. Rundum zufrieden. Wir kommen gerne wieder

Sushi schmeckt hier immer lecker und frisch. Die Ebi Tempura kann ich auch jedem empfehlen. Die Hauptspeisen (Nudel- und Reisgerichte finde ich jedoch nicht so lecker. Bedienung ist immer sehr freundlich. Die Location ist sehr schön. Wir sind oft hier und sind bis jetzt jedes Mal sehr zufrieden gewesen.

Das Ambiente und die Einrichtung ist ansprechend. Das Personal ist nett und das Essen wird sehr dekorativ angerichtet. Es gibt aber von mir keine 5 Sterne, da es mein Lieblingslokal für Sushi nicht übertroffen hat, dabei beziehe ich mich nur auf den Geschmack. Dennoch ist es zu empfehlen, falls man in der Nähe ist und die Auswahl an Sushi ist zahlreich.

Der Kellner vermittelte anfangs einen abweisenden Eindruck, servierte aber korrekt und wurde später offener. Das Bestellte war wie erwartet und schmackhaft. Die Mischung von asiatischem Flair und Speisehalle wirkt etwas widersprüchlich, insgesamt aber ok. Sauber.

Eine schöne Sushi-Bar, stylisch und gepflegt. Unser Bier kam leider erst nach dem Essen, auf das wir eine Weile gewartet haben. Die Bedienung war okay nett und somit war es auch nicht weiter schlimm. Ich habe eine Kokossuppe mit Tofu und Nudeln gegessen, die sehr lecker war. Meine Freund:innen haben alle Sushi gegessen, was sehr gut aussah und auch allen geschmeckt hat.

Wir waren nach längerer Zeit mal wieder in der umibar und dieses Mal sehr unzufrieden. Wir hatten drei mal Crunchy sushi und sowohl die spicy tuna als euch die summer (Lachs) rochen nach altem Fisch. Als wir den Kellner darauf hingewiesen haben, ist er kommentarlos gegangen, kam nach ein paar Minuten wieder und meinte: ich hab die summer roll in der Küche probiert. Schmeckt ganz normal. Schön für ihn

Die Lokalität ist Schön, jedoch ist der Service sehr träge gewesen. Das Essen war nicht sonderlich Gut und die Desserts sind der größte scam EU West. Schade
