I ordered takeaway. The food was okay, nothing special. However, the service was unfriendly. It's clearly stated outside that they only accept cash. So I brought extra cash with me. I didn't have the exact amount, but the man claimed he couldn't make change. I find that outrageous. If you can't make change, then please offer card payments! :) I said, "Fine, then that's fine." I said goodbye, and the man didn't even say goodbye or anything. Honestly, I find his attitude consistent; apparently, the restaurant can afford to be so unfriendly. I don't begrudge him his success, but in my opinion, it's solely based on offering relatively cheap, standard food on a busy street. This was my last visit.

I recently visited Viet Village on Hohenstaufenring 14 in Cologne, right near Zülpicher Park, hoping for an authentic Vietnamese meal after seeing its decent ratings online. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most underwhelming dining experiences I've had in the city. We ordered the pho for two people, expecting a flavorful bowl of steaming broth packed with fresh herbs, noodles, and generous toppings – a staple of Vietnamese cuisine. Instead, what arrived was a watery, bland disappointment that lacked any depth or spice. The broth tasted like it had been diluted beyond recognition, with zero hints of star anise, ginger, or the usual aromatic punch that makes pho special. It was as if the kitchen had forgotten to season it properly, leaving us poking at limp noodles and sad vegetables.To make matters worse, the portion for two was insultingly skimpy on protein. We're talking just two tiny shrimps in the entire dish, and even those had barely any meat inside – more shell than substance. For a restaurant specializing in pho and street food, this is unacceptable. We shelled out around 40€ for this "meal for two," including drinks, and it felt like a complete rip-off. The prices are on the higher side for Vietnamese food in Cologne (10-20€ range per the menu), yet the quality didn't match – no value whatsoever. The atmosphere is casual with some 70s Vietnam vibes, but even the cozy seating couldn't salvage the evening. Service was okay, friendly enough, but they couldn't fix the core issue: subpar food.I've eaten at plenty of Vietnamese spots around Zülpicher area, like LU or Madame Dzung, where portions are hearty and flavors pop. Viet Village falls flat in comparison. If you're craving real pho, skip this place and head elsewhere – there are better options nearby that won't leave you hungry and out of pocket. Two stars only because the location is convenient for a quick bite, but next time, I'll stick to takeout from somewhere reliable.

Spent a lovely evening with friends.

The food wasn't outstanding, but it was okay. The summer rolls were unfortunately disappointing. And the service was very memorable: extremely unfriendly, bordering on rude. Just because we weren't prepared for cash only and had barely scraped together the money, the owner snapped at us because he didn't think the tip was enough. No thanks! That was the last time.

For me, or rather for us, this is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Cologne. The dishes are fresh, crisp, and of very good quality. I love the large soup bowls, which are very well-seasoned and aromatic, while my boyfriend prefers curries. These are also delicious, delicious, delicious. The value for money is really excellent, and the portion sizes are generous. You can come in larger groups. There's a separate sushi bar, which also looks very tasty and fresh. Service: Very friendly, the ambiance is nice and not at all kitschy. We really like the fact that you can eat continuously from lunch until dinner.

Viet village has central location in Ehrenfeld district. However I found the sushi sizes very small also the amount or chicken i. The chicken/rice dish was very little too.. Another suprise was when I asked for the bill, the waitress told me that only cash was accepted! How come ? I had to pat with my last cash in my wallet.

Very tasty udon noodles, and they didn't skimp on the shrimp either. The other dish had udon noodles with beef, which was tender as butter. The decor was designed with great attention to detail, and the staff was friendly and quick.

We won't be back. The food was excellent! The service was okay, although the drinks took a little longer. But the place was also quite full. Nevertheless, we won't be coming again because, despite having basic amenities like electricity and water, they don't accept card payments or any other alternatives to cash. We actually wanted to hold a large gathering with at least 15 people there once a month, but we won't be doing that if they only accept cash—a shame. Therefore, we wouldn't recommend it.

We sat outside and had to wait forever for our drinks. Then there was a hair in the food, and they remade it and brought it back. No apology, no liquor or coffee to make up for it. Then we finally paid, and all the glasses were immediately cleared away, including my friend's almost half-full drink. It wasn't a nice feeling to be treated like that. No, I'm not making a fuss. When I go out to eat, I want to relax, not die of thirst.

We happened to be walking by, were hungry, and sat down in the large and beautifully decorated interior. It was late afternoon, it wasn't busy, and the service was fast and very friendly. The food selection is extensive, the food was delicious, and the portions were definitely plentiful. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough left for one of the delicious-sounding desserts. All in all, definitely recommended 😋👍🏻

The food at this Asian restaurant is truly outstanding: fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The cocktail menu is also impressive—creative, well-mixed, and perfectly matched to the food! What unfortunately somewhat dampens the overall experience, however, is the seating. The heavy wooden chairs are extremely uncomfortable. After a short while, you realize that sitting for long is hardly possible—what a shame! In conclusion: Absolutely recommended for a quick culinary visit—but if you're planning a long, relaxing evening, be prepared for uncomfortable seating.

We were there with 6 people and received a very friendly welcome. Hai really took his time and helped us a lot with the order, and he also responded to special requests. The food was really great, beef pho, flambéed salmon, chicken curry, sushi (a WOW for the presentation). It's great that there really is something to eat for every Asian fan. One point deducted for the ambience - the chairs were very heavy and a bit hard despite the thick cushions. Finally an iced tea that tastes like the ingredients described, passion fruit and pomegranate were just wow. Insider tip: Passionmojito - I'm in love. All in all a successful evening, we would love to come back.

Great restaurant! Interior very nice and cozy. Everything looks traditional and original. Nice service and a large selection of food. The portions are sufficient and taste great. Prices are a bit high but it's worth it for the food you get. The homemade drinks are recommended. I like visiting the restaurant.

Just WOW!!!! We came across this great, authentic restaurant by chance. Actually quite inconspicuous on a side street. Unfortunately I missed taking a picture of our main course. It was noodles with a great peanut sauce. The food is fresh and served attractively. Inside you can sit at cute little tables and let yourself be pampered. When the weather is good, there is also seating outside, which has been comfortably designed with wood. We also had a mojito with our meal. This tasted very good, a perfect mixing ratio. Rarely have I eaten and drunk SO well. The staff is very nice and the prices for the freshness and quality you get there... UNBEATABLE! Definite recommendation

Unfortunately, the restaurant has lost a lot of quality (since it was expanded). We used to go there very often and enjoyed it, but we will now look for an alternative.

We were there as a group and were warmly welcomed and served. Waitress definitely has a sense of humor and was very likeable to us. Authentic dishes, something for everyone, are prepared hot and fresh here. It can be damn loud in the shop at peak times and the open kitchen means you get a lot of smoke.

I ate the udon noodles with tofu and was unfortunately disappointed. There were two small flies in my food, the kind you find on unwashed lettuce. The tofu wasn't really seasoned and the egg was way too salty. However, my friend was happy with the red curry

At the beginning, when it wasn't so well known, I thought the service and the food were very good. For some time now the service and quality of the food has declined. The cellars were not friendly and were more busy with their cell phones. The chairs are absurd, very heavy and very uncomfortable. It's a shame, luckily there are many alternatives in Ehrenfeld.

The food was ok - not great, but not bad either. The ambience is also nice. But in the end the waiter complained that we didn't tip enough (for €62, only about €4 tip…). Unfortunately, that's not possible and will be remembered negatively.

I waited for over 2 hours for my food on a Tuesday evening during the holidays only to get the cancellation. It was just a shame, by now it was too late to order somewhere else. Absolutely not recommended unless you're hungry without dinner go to bed.

Extremely rude service. I rounded a tip from a bill of €42.70 to €45. He called me cheap in front of the table, and then swore under his breath when he got a bad tip from my friend who was insulted on my behalf. It may not be a wonderful tip, but it's no way to treat customers. He was not so offended to return my tip either.

Incomprehensible. We wait 1.5 hours for a delivery via Lieferando and then receive the message that the order has been canceled. When asked, they say the driver was tired of it and went home. I have never experienced anything like it.

Unfortunately it wasn't such a tasty experience. The bao bun was way too sweet, there was way too much sauce in it, the avocado was missing and unfortunately the chicken wasn't completely cooked through :-( At such a high price, that's very disappointing. I would have liked to have written something positive, but The possibility of a review is there for an honest opinion.
