Umami in Berlin

Nice ambience of the restaurant, varied menu. The dishes are beautifully presented and were all very tasty. My pho broth was strong and generally the soup was very, very tasty. Service was friendly, attentive and quick, even when it was very busy.

We were there on Friday at around 4:30 p.m. and had a lot of choice of seats, but it looked completely different at 6:30 p.m.! Every seat was taken and people were already waiting outside. The food was delicious and the price was completely reasonable! I only gave it 4 points because I think that a little more could have been achieved visually and because our duck and chicken breast fillet skin was very fatty and not very crispy and the meat was rather slightly dry. The employees were also super nice and friendly, but unfortunately we had to wait a long time to be able to pay, so only 4 stars.

Undoubtedly the best Vietnamese restaurant I've been to. Exceptional food, good service and friendly staff, wonderful atmosphere. We found it by chance but it ended up being one of the best restaurants we've been to in Berlin!

Excellent meal. The vegetarian options are very numerous (almost all dishes) and are very good. Nice surprise on the desserts which are worth the detour alone

I wanted to sit at a table outside, but the waiter said that all tables were reserved. A little later, a group of people came and sat down at these tables without reservations. Indeed unrespectful behaviour to clients

The best food we've ever had in our lives! The drinks are also amazing. Umami Sour and Saigon Mule are spectacular. We ordered four starters because we couldn't decide and a main course to share between two people and the experience was inexplicably incredible. The place is beautiful and cozy. The bathrooms are too.

A great restaurant. The staff and the atmosphere are very authentic. We felt very comfortable. The food came very quickly. We really enjoyed it, a real taste experience. If we lived in Berlin and weren't just visiting as tourists, then this would be our regular pub. Even my partner, who doesn't like Asian food, was completely thrilled!

Good vegan bowls. Were also really vegan - I always have fears because of bad experiences in Vietnamese restaurants that are mixed because of fish sauce and the like. Incredibly unfriendly employees - no idea if that's supposed to be part of the style? Cyclist was tired .. The furnishings are great and sitting at the window and watching the city is fun.

I always enjoy being here (my Berlin office is around the corner), I always eat very well… Service is very friendly. Freshly prepared and not too spicy (maybe too little for some, I like it). Thank you & see you soon!

Umami Berlin is a great spot for some tasty Vietnamese food! The service was super fast and the staff were really friendly. I especially loved the traditional ambience, it felt very authentic. Definitely try their homemade White white west drink, it was delicious and refreshing. The pho was the perfect comfort food, and it was nice to have the choice of chicken or beef. They also give some sauces to match your taste buds (spicy sour etc). There's plenty of seating, including some cool floor seating options. It wasn't too busy on a Sunday, but it sounds like it can get packed on weekends, so a reservation might be a good idea then.

An overall positive experience: it was good, affordable, and the setting was very pretty. The place where we sat was a little less tidy (grease-stained stool/table), but nothing that really spoiled the moment. The vegetarian options are excellent! (Better than meat, which is of lower quality I think)

Service okay, although our starters and main courses came at the same time and I was told I should have announced this beforehand. I found that very strange since I had specifically ordered “pre” dishes. Unfortunately, the starters were also incredibly dry and not tasty, but the main course was very good. Drinks too. Prices okay too.

I went for the good score but it has already happened to me that since it is so cheap I think people already go where the most important thing is the price and to a certain extent the food. Therefore the score awarded is high. This place in no way deserves the 30th place out of 9000 in Berlin on Trip Advisor. The variety is little. The service is very basic with improvised waiters. The place is run down and I would say a little dirty. The food arrives cold and as soon as it is obviously reheated. To forget.

Amazing Vietnamese restaurant with friendly service! Everything we tried here was very tasty! Over time I have chosen my favorites- Fish pot( salmon in combination with vegetables and rice) and Coriander mule( delicious homemade lemonade with fresh coriander). Several locations in Berlin, all of them I can definitely recommend.

As with Umami in Xberg & Pberg, there are also the most delicious and diverse dishes, sorted by vegetarian and omnivorous. Actually everyone can find what they are looking for here. The service was very friendly - we felt very comfortable here with two small children. There is a high chair, special kids' food (my 3-year-old liked it, but it could come with the sauce separately, so even the littlest one can eat it) and the service staff on site always have a smile on their faces. We were here on a Saturday at 12 p.m. without a reservation and had a free choice of the many tables. Another advantage with children: the food is on the table very quickly.

That was a great dinner! I was a guest in Berlin for a few days and spontaneously felt like learning Vietnamese. At the main dinner time I got a table in a very relaxed manner. The service here is very friendly and attentive. The menu consists of great starters, a variety of main courses and all kinds of desserts. Unfortunately I was too full for dessert. The homemade green iced tea was very refreshing. The spring rolls arrived almost at the same time as the drink and were nice and crispy and cut into small pieces. Convenient to eat with chopsticks. My main course with the calamari was very tasty in itself. A variety of crunchy vegetables and a great stock, but after I had to chew on one calamari for too long - I left the other pieces behind. Overall, a great dinner in a lively atmosphere.

Very good Vietnamese restaurant serving both meat and vegeterian dishes. We tried delicious dumplings as a starter and grilled shrimps served with sweet potatos and various vegetables, all seasoned with a nice soya based sweet sauce.

So cheap, 15€ pp for this incredible load of food for 2 people. Taste 10/10, I want to go back

This really special restaurant was recommended to us by our local hotelier (or whatever it is called): she would go there without hesitation and of course has eaten there several times. A great ambience, very friendly service and fantastically good food. We had the vegetarian menu for 2 people. It felt like we had completely eaten our way through the map. And everything was really delicious.

Super fresh and absolutely delicious. Here you will find really fresh and delicious food that doesn't just taste like soy sauce. From the starters to the dessert, everything was delicious. The portion size of the main courses is also absolutely sufficient, even for people who tend to eat more. They also have a nice seating area where you can sit comfortably on the floor.

The service is Amazing!!! We went for dinner and the place was packed, but still the starters and drinks came within 5 mins. Food was of course delicious and vibe of this place is very cosy. Unfortunately our visit to Maison Umami was a huge disappointment. We had to wave the waitress over several times to even be served - she seemed unmotivated and not very friendly. Additionally, parts of our order were forgotten and the table was not cleared properly, which made the experience even more unpleasant. As if that wasn't enough, we found a carrot stalk in the dish - absolutely unappetizing. Overall, a disappointing visit that unfortunately did not live up to our expectations.

I live in Berlin, and this is one of the places I visit the most. I really enjoy the food, the fusion, and the concept. Whether you’re visiting Berlin or live here, this is a must-visit spot. In winter, it’s cozy and nice to sit inside, and in summer, I love sitting outside, watching people go by while enjoying the weather and a refreshing drink.

They spilt sauce on my brand new coat and didn’t even offer the tiniest compensation. Tough luck kind of attitude.
