The food was brought out so fast, the staff were extremely welcoming and the warm evening atmosphere while eating outside was really pleasant. Thank you Umami PB!

Awesome👍🏽It’s all about the details! The little brother who served us was really cute and caring! One of our mobile phones had no power and asked if it could be charged. He directly took a mobile battery and put it next to us to charge us. He listened to our needs very carefully and patiently and met them. This kind of service is really 5 out of 5 stars. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 There is no doubt that the food is also very delicious! marvelous!

For me it's the best umami in Berlin. But unfortunately it has declined in recent years due to the mass/boom. Nevertheless, it tastes great and I go there several times a year.

I ordered dumplings soup and beef rice. Dumplings were still bit cold inside, while the beef rice was average, not bad. I was sitting outside and there were a lot of flies and wespe which made me want to finish the meal soon and leave immediately

Bad, just bad. No comparison to a few months ago. In principle, food comes before drinks, meaning it is pre-cooked. Not an issue so far because it's hot and tasty. Today, however, it's just a joke. Food is cold, spring rolls taste like vinegar, the salad has no dressing, beef has the consistency of shoe soles, in short it simply cannot be compared with a few months ago. Service has always not been particularly good, but no question as to why I am canceling my reservation for 12 people next Friday, absolutely nothing, no response. There is no bill either, so it is only on the display because you ask for it insistently, also a bit strange.

The price-performance ratio is not right. The food is inferior and overpriced. The service is bad. As soon as you put your fork down after eating, the waiters try to ask you to leave. The chairs are intentionally uncomfortable so that you can leave as quickly as possible.

This place was good before, its quality has long since gone down: overcooked rice, bad service, average hygiene and poorly presented dishes that you don't feel like eating. €25 per person to eat badly and uncomfortable with a non-attentive and rude service that throws your plate on the table and puts their thumb in the rice. Disgusting.

Absolutely incredible. Food is amazing: super tasty, beautiful and fresh. Service was good, the waiters were kind and helpful. The place is beautiful and very comfortable. Super recommended.

Basic Food Bad Service Impolite staff

Always good food, especially the burger, drinks and desserts are to die for! The fuller the place, the louder. Anyone who can handle it should enjoy it!

Most unfriendly and rushed server ever. Afterwards a tip was demanded by another waitress after we gave her a no and said why, she immediately passed this on to the other waiter who aggressively demanded a reason. Food was okay, but definitely not recommended.

Avoid. Very disappointing tonight. Food well below average and service worse. Two of four mains were truly awful: duck breast overcooked (my partner actually left this) & lamb rack overcooked, edible but accompanying sweetcorn disconcertingly greasy and pale (also no flavour). Sauces on three dishes were alarmingly similar: cloying and way too heavy on oyster sauce. Service was very poor. No one even asked how meal was. Half eaten plates left on the table for 30 mins after we finished. When I finally raised concerns re: standard of mains, waiter left and returned asking how I wanted to pay. I raised concerns again and 10 mins later was told 'the kitchen was happy'. We paid full price and will not return. The restaurant clearly takes us for tourists that will not return. The location and ambience were great tbf, but a shame the kitchen and FOH team could not deliver, at least on our visit.

Basically okay, but not suitable if you want to eat with children. I was here with my little daughter (3) and we sat outside. After asking (repeatedly), we were given a children's chair, which is positive. I ordered the only children's meal that was on the menu. The little one is always allowed to choose a drink in the restaurant and wanted Fanta, but she doesn't run the restaurant. Just Coke (and that's out of the question). The children's food came in a full bowl, of course without children's cutlery. The pieces and slices were so big that the little one could hardly eat them. She has a children's knife at home. So I ordered a knife and made things a little smaller for her. The taste was absolutely fine. If you want to eat out without children, the restaurant is okay. However, you have to have time, because the staff sometimes seem to disappear from the face of the earth and so it took us quite a while before we could order. Once the order was placed, however, things went extremely quickly.

Lovely food. We have been there several times over the years. But we will NEVER come again. When paying, the woman shows us the price of what we have eaten and drunk, and she asks how much we want to pay. We want to pay the amount, but then she very aggressively asks what we want to pay. We say we will pay for what we have eaten and drunk. And so we do. As we prepare to leave the place, the lady comes again. She is aggressive again and asks angrily if the food was bad. Repeatedly. We say the food was fine. And then she is aggressive again and asks why we don't tip. Repeatedly. We get up and leave. And is stared down by the aggressive lady. The food was nice. Drinks came 10 minutes after the food. There was no service otherwise. We didn't tip for it. By the way, we usually leave a little tip in cash when we go. We don't want to be threatened into tipping. So that was the last visit with them. There are many other restaurants that offer similar food.

Sat outside which is very atmospheric. Menu in German and English. Staff very efficient and quick service. A bit abrupt at times as they seemed a bit rushed. Did ask for tap water, which we were given, but when asked for a refill we were told they don’t give tap water out on weekends and the glasses we had were an exception…… That aside the food is excellent and would definitely come back for that. Saw an earlier review that said that there is no alcohol being served - it’s wrong. They have a nice selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.

Super tasty and beautiful here. The service is also very attentive. I'll definitely come here more often.

Small portions, warmed vegetables, high prices.

Everything is fine but nothing is great. The food was okayish. I ordered the duck for 19.90 euros. It was okay but pretty small and nothing was exciting. The other six I was with reported similar things. Service wasn't anything special either. They weren't very friendly and pushed for drinks quite a bit (the second we were seated, before we got the cards and every 2 minutes after that). We all found that unpleasant. There are much simpler Vietnamese (also in Prenzlauer Berg) who, in my opinion, are simply better with less posturing. But of course it is not advisable.

No Berlin visit without Umami Pberg. THE address for amazing Vietnamese and Viet inspired food. Never had better seitan anywhere and can't recommend enough to try out all the desserts. Their teas are amazing as well! If you come as a family, don't miss the family menu. It's so good! And comes super fast.

very creative dishes with numerous vegetarian variations. e.g. very tasty seitan. good prices, the main courses around €12 lots of places and enough and friendly staff. very nice atmosphere in the open space.

The food was very good, and the atmosphere was quiet and cozy, but I didn't find the service to be particularly considerate (e.g. it was already cleared away while some of us were still eating) and on point (it was often ignored football game distracted, orders were not actively taken). In Kreuzberg there is also an Umami, which I found a little better.

Absolut schlechte Bedienung, haben 20 Minuten gewartet das Essen hat nicht geschmeckt und das Ambiente war auch nicht das sauberste. Ich würde keinem empfehlen, dorthin zu gehen. Gleich in der Gegend gibt's genug saubere Restaurants, die auch interessiert daran sind, ihre Kunden zu bedienen und nicht zu ignorieren.

- Super bad service staff, constantly walking past empty plates without clearing them away. I had to ask them several times throughout the evening to clear away plates. - The burger tasted really bad, especially the questionable patty. One bite of rice and left it standing. The cellars don't even ask what happened to the food or show any other interest. - The dessert (black glutinous rice + coconut/mango) was tiny!!! Unlied: 1 tablespoon of rice, the rest is sauce. And that's tough for the price of €6! Don't understand the hip, would definitely not recommend the store. There are 1037 other Asians in Berlin who are way better.

Good food, unprofessional and unfriendly service

They spent a lot pf money on Interiors , ambiance and Menu design. But the food was really bad. The place is pricy too. Vegetarian dumplings were decent But the Red and Golden curry was so sweet and full of potatoes with really small portions, and was lacking taste.

I had been wanting to try this restaraunt out for quite awhile but I was very disappointed with my order. I ordered #19 with beef and it was these tiny little scraps of grey beef. Looked terrible and was very disappointing. My friend's order looked better and I have seen other dishes there that look good, but mine was pitiful. Location and atmosphere are nice, service was extremely quick but I would be hesitant to go there again.

Although the food is great and affordable the staff was so rude and we felt badly treated. The drinks are too small for the dishes

I’ve always loved this restaurant due to the tasty food and fast service! My only criticism is not being able to order a glass of water. After ordering 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 drinks between 3 of us, mid meal I was told it’s policy to sell water by the bottle. I’d have paid for a glass but a large bottle at the end of the meal was a bit extreme haha..

Not paying attention to the wolt riders and the behaviour is also shameless

Really enjoyed the food and service here. All the dishes ordered had unique and excellent flavors and Good portion sizes. The seitan was beautifully and subtly flavored. I don’t normally eat burgers but the bao bun burger was one of the best things I have ever eaten. Tons of vegetarian choices with very prompt service.

A neat little restaurant, The outdoor area is nice to end the evening right next to the water tower 🙂 The service is nice but could come by more often. The food was very good, Card payment is possible. I paid around €25 for a veggie bowl and 2 large beers, I will gladly come again!

We visited the Umami restaurant on a summer evening, on Saturday. A shaded spot outside was found as soon as the restaurant staff wiped the table. So, we didn't have to wait. The concept of the place is outlined in the menu - traditions and future. And that's truly the case. The Super Sea Bowl is very tasty. The burger with sweet potato fries is also excellent. The mango lassi are worth trying, although the portion is small. There is a high chair for children in the restaurant. We are very satisfied with our visit.

The vegetarian pho was really good. The ambience is good too.

The food is excellent! It's really worth ordering the Family Menu to share with someone. It eats very well, the quantity is good and the price is not too high. I highly recommend it!

A metallic screw found in a pancake. We kindly let the staff know, they said they will find out what happened and said they are sorry. They explained that the mixer where they make the pancake had a screw loose and it fell to the pancake mix. And explained this does not happen normally. After awhile next door table said they had the exact metal screw in their pancake aswell. The waitor started to argue about the bill for the one that had the screw in the food… In a normal restaurant experience, the restaurant should somehow tried to make ammends by offering a discount for that person or give a free coffee or something - only being sorry does not cut it since this happened also to other customers aswell. We as a group said to the waitor that there should be some discount for the person who had their food experience ruined with the screw, waitor did not take that into consideration - he just started to yell and badmouth our friend. We ofcourse paid for our food and our friend after the heated argument did not have to pay for his meals. Definately not a nice experience in this restaurant. Would pass this one if I were you 😕

The sea pot was excellent, simple broth, but the noodles were overcooked. The potato pancakes had the perfect amount of sweetness and crispiness, and it went very well with the kimchi and the prawns. I'm definitely coming back here to try more of their menu.

Food tastes good, but always got a bad service there. At one time, we haven't finished eating when one of the staff came and gave us the bill. We didn't ask for it yet. Our plates were taken away from us without permission. Very rude staff. At another time, we ordered 3 dishes but only got a bowl of rice. We asked why we didn't get the same amount of rice. The waiter said it wasn't included, but didn't say that when we made the order. We were disappointed as we had a different expectation. At the payment, we gave a tip and the staff refused our time very arrogantly, saying that they give the tip back to us. Again, very bad service. I would not recommend to eat here because of the service. Also the place and the staff is not kids-friendly at all.

Very rude, they just have no respect and yell at you

NEVER AGAIN!!! The service was extremely poor! The employees were very disrespectful and rude. We were a group with children and you should at least show respect towards children.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with my visit to this restaurant. Although the food was really tasty, the staff member's treatment of us was absolutely rude. Not child friendly. The way he spoke was inappropriate and marred the whole experience. It's a shame because the food was really good.

I always take the family options, the dishes for two or three, one of the nicest they offer. Food is quite healthy and tasty! Sometimes the crew is stressed that one time they were not hospitable and behaved a bit unfriendly but were insisting on getting tips. Overall nice!

Worst restaurant I have ever been to. The rudest waitress I have ever met, she is a thief. (if you're reading this, I hope you get what you deserve you thief!) She added a tip of her own when I clearly said how much i wanted to pay her. She is a clear thief and I hope people are more aware of what they pay at such shady places.

I don’t usually review places but I needed a warm meal tonight and they did an amazing job. Had 2 appetizers and an entire for €25 and the food was flavorful. Definitely coming back.

I really don’t understand why bad services should be given tips. Extreme Bad Service: Thats the rudest experience I have after living in Berlin for over 10 years. They spilled my drink and did not help immediately. They didn’t offer a new drink, we had to ask them after a long time. We wanted to pay cash and they said they have no 10/20EUR bills to give, only coins and didn’t even ask other colleagues to help. We were not happy with the service and didn’t want to leave tips. They then spoke with a mean face: “You are not giving tips!? Walk there and take your own bill.” And the walk away. Maybe we should have asked them to pay for our cleaning fee. We did send them a complaint letter but they didn’t reply us. So apparently the company doesn’t care much about improving their service. Few more tip: this is an Asian restaurant for European taste. They dumpling is veeeery bad. Their curry is edible if you wanna order. If you want authentic Asian food, I wouldn’t recommend.

Culinary disappointment: the sweet potato pancake with prawns was just one deep fried chunk of shredded sweet potatoes with 2 pale prawns tasting of nothing. The Bao burger was dry and had a factory printed meat patty on it that one should probably refrain from eating. The place aims to make the ultimate amount of turn around on any night (especially bad in summer due to the nice location) unfortunately to the expense of the food quality. I felt awful when I left, and will definitely not come back

Nothing to complain about the cuisine, it's excellent but the service leaves something to be desired, you haven't finished your starter before your main course arrives and if one of you finishes before the others, your plate will be taken away. , it's really unpleasant.

A good Asian restaurant offering nice service and tranquil vibe. The menu is written in both English and German, so it’s good for ppl who cannot speak or read German. Also they have very clean and nice toilet, really good experience here. The food is nice as well.

I found a fried bug in my food. My friend also vomited after eating here. I severly doubt that the kitchen hygiene is safe here.

Came here after being hyped up by the reviews. The service was really nice and quick and the atmosphere had a great vibe to it, as it was a bank holiday. People were really relaxed and Berlin was welcoming the summer with open arms. We started with Spring in Rolls, which were good but average. And for mains, we went with Tongkin's Roastduck, Banh Bao Burger and 2x Fit for kids + 1 rice for our kids, a bottle of fizzy water, 2x mango lassies and a juice for 80,- €. Which is quite a lot. Too late I realized that the 2x Fit for kids were charged as Mains (6,90 € vs 12,90€) ?!?! Even though we were with 2x small children and this should have been taken into account, as the "upgrade" needs to be requested as well. Now to the mains - Tongkin's Roastduck, maybe our experience eating duck in Soho, London are at fault here, but the duck was chewy and didn't taste as fresh, and while the veg was nice and crunchy, the sauce was overly sweet. Something that a lot of asian restaurants in Berlin are guilty of, understandably catering to the local crowd, but most of the time, it's simply overwhelming sweet and any finer nuances are lost. The Banh Bao Burger was nice experience, although, the meat patty tasted more like a regular Frikadelle / Boulette to me, which pulled me out of it. But I did like the crunchiness of the mango coleslaw and the fresh taste of coriander. Their Kimchi is also very tasty. The kids meals Fit for kids were regular chicken, mixed veg and rice with a soy sauce, which again turned out to be overly sweet. Rice was nice, but it also very hard to mess that up anyway. The mango lassies were good though, not too sweet. Last but not least, while we had 28° degrees and were sitting outside, waiting for a the refreshing fizzy water, the bottle that we got was room temperature and instead of feeling refreshed drinking it, we felt the opposite. I don't think we will be back here. The vibe was great and I'm sure that people like the food, but I felt for that price, the food should have blown us away. I can get more authentic and better asian cuisine for much less in other parts of Berlin but then again, that's Prenzlauer Berg for you :P. Anyway, this restaurant is successful for reasons and I wish them nothing but the best. Enjoy.

Criticism: We always enjoy coming, but we have the feeling that the homemade drinks are getting smaller and smaller; the glasses were significantly larger just a few weeks ago. In addition, some dishes are very dry because there is too little sauce (Shaolin Bowl). That used to be better. On our last visit, the rag used to wipe the tables left ours with a musty smell. We'll stop by again in a few weeks.

The experience is very disappointing overall. I don’t even have the mood to eat the food now. Since the very beginning, when we call for the reservation, the staff who picked the call is very impatient And when we arrived, the staff didn’t give us any respect. Under such cold weather, she insists to make us wait outside. Such customer service impacts the whole dining experience. Regarding this experience it put off our interest for the rest of the meal. I would also like to point out that not all of the staff here is rude.

Very good food! Service, however, was difficult - everyone seemed stressed and seemed like they had to get things done quickly in order to serve as many people as possible. I didn’t get a glass of tap water because “all the glasses are in the dishwasher.”

Un super resto vietnamien, rapport qualité prix imbattable, nous n'avions pas réservé et avons très peu attendu pour un samedi soir puis nous avons été placés sur une table au sol et avec l'obligation de se déchausser, une expérience inédite pour les enfants, ils ont adoré ! Enfin les plats très copieux (nous avions pris la golden poularde en menu famille) était succulents! A ne pas manquer lors de votre passage sur Berlin!

Table was reserved at 19:30 We had to wait outside with 8 degrees until 20:15 to get a table inside. They wanted us to sit outside. Waiters are rude, impolite. Tried to get rid of the dishes as soon as you put your fork down As soon as we finished we got kicked out

Mandatory when we are in the big B! The food is simply different from the vast majority of other Asian restaurants. Fantastic selection of vegetarian dishes for large and small appetites. Price-performance is also very good.

I've eaten here and have ordered take-out a few times. While the menu is extensive, the dishes are mostly too salty! The soups are heavy on MSG, noodle dishes heavy in oil. My chicken curry tasted like day-old pre-cooked chicken that was reheated and thrown into curry. Service is good and attentive but when it was time to pay, felt integrated with questions: "Was everything ok?" "Was service good?" and then my server audaciously pointed out that tip is not included in the bill. Since when did Berlin become an obligatory tipping culture like in America? I did tip but did not appreciate how it was suggested by the employee. There are some cultural aspects of Europe that should be preserved...like tipping should be given from volition and NOT because of pressure. Management, please re-train your staff on this matter.

Es war bedauerlich, dass ein Mitarbeiter, der als Reservierungsprüfer fungiert, vorne stand und lautstark darauf bestand, dass ich mein Trinkgeld zurücknehmen sollte, weil es niedriger als erwartet war. Ich werde dies an allen relevanten Stellen ansprechen, da meine Gäste aus Hamburg davon schockiert waren.

Disrespectful employees!!! It was unfortunate that an employee acting as a reservation checker stood at the front and loudly insisted that I take my tip back because it was lower than expected. I will address this in all relevant places as my guests from Hamburg were shocked by it.

The food is ok for the price. But what strange service!!! The waitress tried to force us to give a tip, she even said, “Read there is no tip in the price.” When we said we wouldn’t give a tip, she got angry and gave us our change in 10 and 20 cent pieces. In Germany there is no obligation to tip!!!! If you don't give anything, it seems that in this restaurant people act passive aggressively and ask every person at the table aggressively! I read several other reviews that had the same experience and apparently nothing was changed about the behavior of the waiters.

Very friendly service. The food was tasty and the portions were plentiful. The prices are fair. The ambience is appealing, although the stools are a bit tiring in the long run. When the place is full it can get quite loud.

Wochenkarte zu empfehlen. Vegetarisches Curry mit Tofu :) sehr lecker und Preis- Leistung gut. Zum Mittag gibt es entweder eine Suppe oder einen Salat dazu.

The best Vietnamese restaurant I've ever been to. Delicious and authentic food, great service and beautiful decor. Every dish we ordered was amazing. The tea is served in an interesting and original way. We will definitely come back here when we visit Berlin again. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try the best version of South Asian cuisine.

What a find! Excellent food and service.

They don’t behave well with the wolt riders. They show arrogance and lack of respect among people. As a rider asked normally for the water while delivering their food they showed arrogance and asked for the money and didn’t respect the rider.
