UKIYO Sushi & Wine in München

We were there for a business lunch and really enjoyed the delicious food, the nice atmosphere and the friendly service. Each of us was thrilled and we would love to come back.

Be careful, this restaurant can easily delete bad reviews on Google. Allergens are not reported. Surimi sold as crab meat. We also had food poisoning after the visit! Addendum to my review: It's disappointing how constructive feedback is handled here. Since my first review was deleted, I would like to describe my experiences again - this time with a comment on the restaurant's response: Delete Google reviews: The restaurant claims that it has no influence over the deletion of reviews. The fact is, however, that my first objectively formulated review disappeared after I pointed out legitimate grievances. The fact that bad reviews are reported to Google and apparently deleted reflects poorly on the transparency of how customer feedback is handled. Surimi and crab meat: During my visit it was clearly explained to me that it was crab meat, but what was actually served was surimi. Even though the restaurant denies this, as a customer I had the impression that the communication was misleading. Allergens: It is true that I asked about the allergens - but after I was served food that I, as an allergic person, could not eat. It wasn't clear on the menu that a separate allergen menu was available upon request. In a modern restaurant this should be clearly marked and easily accessible to avoid misunderstandings and risks for guests. Food poisoning: After my visit, myself, my partner and another person who was also in the restaurant that evening experienced clear symptoms of food poisoning. These were not caused by allergens. It is concerning that the restaurant directly denies this serious feedback instead of thoroughly investigating possible causes. Refund: I kindly pointed out the problems during my visit. The waiter responded professionally and took some of the food off the bill, for which I am grateful. However, I'm not interested in money, but rather in an objective assessment of the quality of the food and the transparency in this restaurant. Why I'm writing this review: Google reviews are an important tool to help future guests know what to expect. I'm not interested in defamation or personal profit - but rather that a restaurant that claims to have "the highest standards of hygiene" and "transparency" should also feel committed to these standards. It's a shame that criticism isn't seen as an opportunity to improve. To future guests: Please check the menu and ask directly about allergens if you plan to eat here. The atmosphere may seem modern, but unfortunately the experience and service didn't convince me.

Delicious sushi, amazing signature cocktails, friendly staff and great atmosphere for dinner!

Excellent food as always, unfortunately the wagyu was out but every piece of sushi is always fresh and truly magical.

Four of us were there for lunch. The food was solid, but not outstanding - we expected a little more based on the reviews. Mayonnaise sauce on sushi is and remains simply an absurdity... But that wouldn't have been at all...much more unpleasant: while we were eating, the door was opened behind us (it was below 10 degrees outside) because apparently the refrigerator outside was broken had to be transported. Since there were several of them, the action lasted a good 15-20 minutes. Every time a refrigerator was outside, the employees lit a cigarette, so that in addition to the cold, smoke drifted into the restaurant. Meanwhile we sat at the table without drinks. Actually, we would have liked to order another coffee, but since we were cold and no one was looking after us, we decided to pay and leave.

Very nice place with great cocktail menu and very tasty sushi. I took sashimi and they were awesome. We were here at least 5 times and every time was amazing ♥️

The restaurant definitely lives up to your current hype, but that also means: be sure to make a reservation for weekend brunch. Theoretically, the room is a bit too small: the tables are (too) close together, it can be difficult to get through and there is an immense noise level. The employees are courteous and friendly, but some orders were delivered incorrectly, you sometimes had to wait a long time and things seem to be a bit chaotic at peak times. The food is fresh and consistently impressive, although the croissants and croffles are a bit smaller for the price. But the brioche towers convinced everything (recommendation for Hotate Supreme).

We were there for brunch on a Saturday morning. First of all, the restaurant itself, it looks really nice, very cozy, that's definitely great. The food tastes good, no question about it, but I think the value for money is almost a bit too expensive. The service wasn't great for us, we really had to wait for someone to come if we wanted to order something and we had to go to the toilet briefly and came back to our place and our drinks and food had suddenly been put away. We weren't finished yet and we hadn't paid yet. I found it a bit difficult. Maybe we just had a bad day, but given my current feeling I would avoid the visit for now. It was just stupid. But as I said, the food was still tasty, so it might be worth a try. ☺️

The place is well decorated, it does not look crowded of people but it can be very noisy. So if you look for a quiet place this maybe is not for you. I ordered an avocado-eggs-cheese sandwhich for the brunch and a lichy smoothy, really tasty both. They also gave us a limit of 2 h per table .. which on my opinion is tight depending how big is the group. I like to relax not to rush to eat. All in all is a good place to try food and matcha drinks.

We were there for brunch today and unfortunately we weren't convinced. We had a brioche with shrimps (quite good) and the pancakes with caramelized apricots (unfortunately completely cold). Two things were annoying: the 1€ surcharge for oat milk is steep and there is no small glass of water with coffee even when asked, which is absolutely common in other shops. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, but unfortunately not worth the hype.

Was here with my foodies, the atmosphere is incredibly good but the portions were a bit small for the price. Otherwise quite fine.

Very nice interior, service quick and friendly. Sushi was good too, but I found it surprisingly expensive, which doesn't usually bother me. However, I didn't find the price-performance ratio justified here. We paid €90 for two and only had two non-alcoholic drinks. If I want to eat expensive sushi, then definitely somewhere else.

Muesli and croissant with truffles were delicious! The house sauce didn't convince us. The table was shaking and the other table was cleaned upon request. All in all, we would still like to come back.

We didn't have a reservation but had to wait 10 minutes at the entrance until we were told there was no more space. There were still 10 tables free. We should come by half an hour later then we'll know more. Good customer service also looks different

Decent ambience and dishes are expensive which we knew anyway before we came, so that isn’t a surprise. Now what was surprising was the quantity for the price ratio and that is steep. So not my place again to come back. Two, we had made a reservation and was seated in - me and my friend were still finishing our drinks when the staff asked if we can be seated outside instead because their next reservation was 40 minutes early. They offered one more drink free - but the point was it was pouring outside and the outside tables had cover of course but it wasn’t a comfortable experience to sit out in the cold when we had comfy seating inside until our reservation ended. The free drink isn’t what we wanted but to be able to sit in our reserved table. Safe to say, both of us aren’t coming back again and it’s not worth the prices we pay to not be treated equally. If your guests arrive that early, you politely ask them to come back when it’s their time maybe? But not treat your current guests badly. Not everyone is looking for free coffee to sit out in the cold rainy weather :)

My absolute favorite sushi restaurant! The food is amazing, I've never had such good sushi as here. There is also a great selection of cocktails (also without alcohol). I can particularly recommend the sashimi and the Cosmopolitan. The interior is pretty and elegant and there is a pleasant atmosphere. 10/10 is definitely worth a visit!

We came here at the weekend for breakfast or brunch. Very tasty food, good value for money! The acoustics are a bit loud in the small shop and it is quite warm. Otherwise everything was nice, clean and friendly staff! Would love to come back

The restaurant offers an outstanding overall experience that impresses with both excellent service and first-class cuisine. The modern, bright and inviting ambience creates a pleasant atmosphere, which is complemented by a varied combination of tables, high tables, bar seating and outdoor seating. The cuisine combines Japanese classic elements with sushi and international, modern influences. Particularly noteworthy is the extensive and innovative menu, which impresses with many exceptional drinks. A special highlight was the Sunday brunch, where many details were taken into account. I had the Brioche Golden Spoon without bacon and it was fantastic. This restaurant comes highly recommended, but reservations are strongly recommended.

Been here many times and have been very satisfied every time. Whether with a small or large group, everything always goes smoothly. The service is great and so is the food and drinks.

We had the pleasure of enjoying it there on a Friday evening. The food is really wonderful, the quality of the fish is really at the highest level! Wonderful. The service is very courteous and happy to accommodate any requests. The ambience is really stylishly decorated. Since the restaurant is quite small, it gets a little louder, but that doesn't necessarily have a negative impact on your stay. However, the size of the table is a little too small for my taste, especially if you order a little more. All in all, a real recommendation if you want to enjoy sushi and other items of the highest quality.

We were able to taste Ukiyo's delicious dishes on several days and were not disappointed once. The staff has always been very friendly and very professional. A clear recommendation for anyone who likes Japanese cuisine.

Karaage were too soft and tasted too much like eggs, the dip with it wasn't the best. Crunchy rolls tasted very strange, almost as if they had been smoked, not really my thing. After 2 sips, all the flavor of the drink was gone and all you could taste was water...and half of it was filled with unnecessary things, meaning there was hardly any drink left..

Nice but not worth the hype. Service was friendly but very firm that you had to leave the place after exactly 2 hours. There is better sushi in Munich. The fish wasn't the best quality. Price performance not good in my opinion. Drinks were tasty but also expensive.

The food was very good but the service can be improved. One item from the order was forgotten, order of my husband arrived 20 min before mine and it was cold by the time mine was brought by.

The restaurant is a fantastic spot with delicious sushi rolls and expertly crafted cocktails. It's a perfect place for a night out with friends or a special date night.

The restaurant has a great vibe with the decor and lighting. We found the service and food to be great! The salmon miso soup was unique and delicious. The nigiri portions were large compared to what we’re used to back home and the mochi trio was an absolute treat.

Service unfriendly and unprofessional. Warm water glasses, poorly polished wine glasses (still €13.50 glass rose) Tuna tartare was very fatty and weirdly cut. Never go back!

Unfortunately, the food from the lunch menu was an absolute disappointment. The teriyaki salmon wasn't the freshest. The rest is loveless. A pity.

The food at this restaurant is not Japanese. It’s totally different foods…………..

The service was correct but not too friendly. When we wanted to go to the restaurant at 5:45 p.m., we were refused entry because it opened at 6 p.m. So in winter we had to wait outside for 1/4 hour in the cold and smell "not even able to take a seat". I find such behavior impossible and have never experienced it in this unfriendly form.

The service is very good and the food is good. It is above average in Munich. I will come again.

Tight, loud, dark, expensive. If this is the most beautiful restaurant in Germany, then I probably just have no idea; I admit that I'm not a sushi expert, but for me it also lacked pizzazz. The biggest problem, however, is the mixture of the above-mentioned adjectives; I understood the stranger sitting to my left much better than the person sitting next to me.

If you like really good sushi, live in Munich or are spending vacation here, you should definitely have this restaurant on your to-do list. I liked: The restaurant is very modern and stylishly furnished. A not-too-large bar invites you to stop for a glass of wine and some sushi. In addition to some seats in the restaurant itself, tables outside the restaurant are also available. The food and wine list is very extensive and offers a variety of delicious dishes and delicious wines. The service is quick and is happy to give advice if you can't make up your mind based on the selection on offer. The presentation of the dishes is very appealing and brings the Asian flair to the guest's table. The quality of the wines is very good. The sushi are not only something to eat, but also something to look at, they are very fresh and their flavor combinations are very convincing. I didn't like: The menu is not structured; So the starters could be found far back. This makes it very difficult to put together a menu with several courses. No menu was offered. One of the dishes we ordered was forgotten but not charged for either. What is irritating is that sushi that was ordered by two different people at the table was served on a shared platter. This is OK with partners, but not desirable with strangers. In this price segment I would expect a little more.

The Ukiyo was voted the most beautiful restaurant in Germany by a jury in 2023, which is why we made a reservation there. It's quite small and a little cramped, but the dishes are nicely prepared and taste good, delicious wasabi. Not cheap for what's on offer, but okay. The service was good for us even though the restaurant was almost full, so there was no quiet atmosphere. We will still go there again.

Our dinner at UKIYO was okay. The ambience is mediocre as the lighting could be improved. Service was satisfactory but nothing more. It took a while before someone asked if we wanted something to drink. Food was quite okay but a bit fatty and large cut pieces of tempura sushi.

The restaurant is so small and people just sitting too close together. We can hear what other people talking about. The food is fresh but not much selection.

Anyone looking for a new concept of dining enjoyment is in good hands here. Modern, authentic, high quality sushi. Very warm staff.

Great Japanese cuisine and friendly service

I had a Chef‘s Choice Flamboyant Salmon. It was not yummy, I don’t recommend it. I had a six piece plain scallop Maki for €10, tasted fine but very overpriced. Dinner was €45, cocktail was good, Schorle was warm. My friend‘s dinner was €65, also not great. Won’t be coming back.

Very tasty sushi in an impressive atmosphere

The restaurant has a great atmosphere. The waiters were friendly however they forgot one of our orders. We ordered 3 different sushis: crunchy sake, crab tatar and the one with truffle and avacado. All of them were great and very tasty. However we waited around 45mins until the food arrived. The cocktail blueberry champagne is overly priced and not worth it at all. The desert, mochi was amazing!! You should definitely give it a try. Best way to finish the dinner.

Key points: It was a Tuesday night, 18 PM We were a group of 4 and one two-year old We had no reservation Staff: 5 out of 5 - really gentle and excellent service - fast orders and table service Drinks: 5 out of 5 - the whiskey sour is amazing, the coconut drink a must, the non-alcoholic drink a blessing. Food: 5 out of 5 - just eat it. One thing, the wasabi is really creamy and sometimes mild and often times it hits hard. So enjoy Ukiyo.

Tight space when you go on a busy evening which I don’t mind much but the food.. I was sent there with expectations and we were disappointed. The food quality didn’t meet the standards — and we paid a lot for it.

Staff is extremely overloaded, forgets your order, confuses dishes, forgets you asked to pay, always in a hurry, not very careful. Cutlery is not replaced after hot starters, which means you have to eat 30 euro wagyu nigiri or 30 euro sashimi with chopsticks covered in barbecue sauce. Time for dinner is limited - 2 hours max. The place itself is tiny. The menu is huge, poorly structured, bad visuals, it takes a lot of time to read through and figure out. Not clear how it fits the hardly limited dinner time. Food is good, but not brilliant. Ingredients are perfect, no questions. The most expensive roll is rolled poorly, falling apart and hard to eat. Basic dishes which you can find everywhere else are really good, but priced almost twice as usual. Wine choice is really good, but also almost 2x overpriced and I can’t see why. To summarise - they ask you to pay 2x normal prices, but they provide normal service and kick you out after 2 hours. Decent restaurant is not just buying decent ingredients and wine and raising prices. The place offers nothing special. Mediocre place, but unusually expensive.

Been there with friends for the second time. Have been told that our table is just for 2 hours which I understand is ok for munich and that restaurants need to make revenue. After 2hrs have been asked to move to the bar and then 15min later they told us that the bar is needed as well and we need to leave. Not what you expect for a nice evening out with friends

Ordered a chicken kare raisu. It tasted good ... but it wasn't a Japanese chicken kare raisu. Sauce was wrong, too many extra ingredients. So if you want tasty food, you can definitely come. If you want Japanese food, better to go elsewhere.

Das Restaurant überzeugte mich nicht nur mit seinem exquisiten Sushi, sondern auch mit seinen besonderen Drinks, dem freundlichen Personal und der wunderschönen Inneneinrichtung. Die Auswahl an Sushi im Restaurant war einfach phänomenal. Jede Rolle war kunstvoll zubereitet und die Qualität der Zutaten war herausragend. Jeder Bissen war ein Geschmackserlebnis. Die besonderen Drinks im Restaurant waren ein wahrer Genuss. Sie waren nicht nur geschmacklich beeindruckend, sondern auch optisch ansprechend. Das Personal im Restaurant war außergewöhnlich freundlich und zuvorkommend. Sie standen mir bei der Auswahl der Gerichte und Drinks mit Rat und Tat zur Seite. Ihre herzliche Art und ihre Aufmerksamkeit machten meinen Besuch zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis. Die Inneneinrichtung des Restaurants war einfach wunderschön. Das moderne und elegante Design schuf eine ansprechende Atmosphäre, die perfekt zum Genuss von Sushi und Drinks passte. Jedes Detail wurde sorgfältig durchdacht, von der Beleuchtung bis hin zur Wahl der Materialien. Es war ein Ort, an dem ich mich sofort wohl und entspannt fühlte.

Summery: ist OK wird jedoch nicht mein Stammlokal Restaurant sieht gut aus und vermittelt nicht zu letzt durch die Preise einen höheren Anspruch. Leider spiegelt der Service den Anspruch überhaupt nicht wieder. Zwar sind alle sehr bemüht und freundlich, es fällt jedoch an Professionalität. Die Karte fand ich sehr unübersichtlich und die Gerichte schwer vorstellbar. Die Qualität der Speisen ist an sich gut, jedoch für japanische Küche zu scharf, wahrscheinlich keine Japanische Kochausbildung. Dafür ist die Weinkarte sehr groß und die Preise nicht zu übertrieben.

Sehr leckeres Sushi. Der Fisch wird hier sehr großzügig auf dem Reis verteilt, wo er sich bei anderen Sushi Restaurants gerne eher mal auf dem Reis verliert 😉

Essen war sehr gut, Service sehr prompt und zuvorkommend. Abzug gebe ich für die sehr eng gestellten Tische, es ist beinahe unmöglich der Unterhaltung am Nebentisch nicht zu folgen und somit hat man selbst auch nicht wirklich Privatsphäre. Da es sich, auch preislich, nicht um ein Schnellrestaurant handelt könnten die Abstände deutlich angenehmer bemessen sein. Dazu der mittlerweile leider übliche 2-Stunden Slot.

Sehr tolle Sushi Variationen, speziell die Crispy Rolls fanden wir super. Das Lokal ist zudem sehr schön eingerichtet. Der Service war nett, kam aber nur noch nach Aufforderung an den Tisch.

Waren hier für ein kurzes Abendessen. Sehr schöne Drinks als Aperitif, waren lecker, haben aber viel zu lange gedauert, dafür dass der Laden noch fast leer war. Ambiente sehr modern, hat mir gut gefallen. Vorspeisen gut, evtl ein bisschen teuer (Lachstatar). Sushi etc auch gut, außer die Thunfisch/Beefrolle, Fleisch etwas zäh. Hatten nur einen 2h Slot, daher kein Dessert. Guter Sake, Rechnung ca 160 Euro zu zweit, ohne Dessert, ohne Flaschenwein. Insgesamt ein netter Abend.

Kleiner, etwas enger Laden mit sehr feinem Sushi. Kurz nach 22:00h wurden höflich zum Gehen aufgefordert.

Wir waren zu dritt im neu gekürten, schönsten Restaurant Deutschlands. Schöne Bar hier vorallen Dingen die Bar Hocker, sehr bequem. Eine ausgefallene Beleuchtung, habe ich so noch nirgendwo gesehen. Im Internet kam das Restaurant größer rüber ist es aber nicht. Es ist schon ein bisschen Eng. Die Geräuschkulisse muß man mögen. Aber man kommt ja zum Essen und das hat sich auf alle Fälle gelohnt, die Karte ist sehr umfangreich. Auch die Cocktails sehr lecker. Eine sehr gute Weinkarte ausgefallene Japanische Whiskys und leckeren Sake. Und als Degistif einen sehr guten Japanischen Likör. Das Personal sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Man muss Reservieren. Ich werde auf alle Fälle wieder kommen.

Super lecker. Wir hatten eine Flasche grünen Veltliner (Wachau), Spare-Rips japanisch, Oktopusbällchen, flambierten Thunfisch und auch noch excelente und raffinierte Makis mit flammed Beef und Tempura Prawns. Cocktails zur "Nachspeise" haben wir uns auch gegönnt. Für uns einer der besten Japaner in München. Alles super. Wir kommen wieder. BRAVO

Sehr leckeres Essen, hat leider ewig gedauert, bis das Sushi kam. Zudem war die Temperatur im Restaurant sehr kalt. Der Service war leider unaufmerksam und das hat alles etwas in die Länge gezogen.
