Uhlenhorster Weinstube in Hamburg

We were really looking forward to our visit, as we've enjoyed fondue many times in Vienna and Zurich. Unfortunately, this was the most expensive and also the most disappointing experience. The two stars are solely for the food – the rest of the experience was not at all convincing. The service was not customer-oriented in any way: - During our stay, we were not even asked once if everything was okay. - It seemed that only German-speaking guests were served warmly and attentively. We (and the English-speaking guests next to us) were completely lacking in attention, while the waiter had long conversations with regulars. - No smile, no "goodbye" – we simply felt unwanted. I normally like to tip generously, but for the first time, I didn't leave one – solely because of the service. We came especially for a special occasion (a birthday) and left sad and disappointed. A restaurant visit should be hospitable and warm – unfortunately, this was the opposite. Conclusion: We will not be back and cannot recommend this restaurant.

Everything was perfect. The tarte flambée and pumpkin seed soup were absolutely delicious. So were the wine (it's great that they offer a 0.5-liter option) and the beer. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was cozy. I'd love to come back. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Visit the quaint, cozy "Uhlenhorster Weinstube" on Papenhuder Straße. Delicious wines are complemented by an extensive menu, starting with cheese fondue, a large selection of cheeses, and, of course, a selection of salads, appetizers, and many delicious main courses. The service team is very friendly and attentive. Reservations are definitely recommended.

Super delicious tarte flambée. We had three different ones: the one with asparagus and the other with Gorgonzola were our favorites. Oh yeah, the small one with apple and Calvados was also great, but its only drawback was that it was too small 😀

Small but fine restaurant. If you want to sit outside, make a reservation. The crew is very friendly and the service works very well. I had a raclette sandwich and a classic tarte flambée. Both very good. The prices are reasonable.

Reservation by phone is definitely necessary as it is always very busy. We were there for the cheese fondue and have almost all the accompaniments. It was definitely too much for two people, but it was worth it. Unfortunately we had to wait a very long time (almost 50 minutes) for our cheese fondue. The restaurant was also completely full.

A successful evening in the Uhlenhorster wine bar. We showed up spontaneously and were lucky to get a table. Otherwise, reservations are recommended. The waitress gave excellent advice on the right drinks for the chosen meal. Speaking of food – the cheese fondue was incredibly good, with a nice selection of sides. We were thrilled. The main course was rounded off with a delicious dessert (dessert of the day). In this high-priced location of the restaurant, the prices were completely justified for the quality of the food and drinks offered. I look forward to the next visit Thank you very much

Looking for a good wine and something to eat, we stopped at the Uhlenhorster Weinstube. Delicious wine, staff is very knowledgeable about the different tastes. We had a cheese and sausage platter with the wine. Time has flown by in the beautiful ambience. A little loud at times but hard to avoid. It was great. Thank you for the lovely evening.

Very friendly and sweet stuff! Atmosphere was great, people were very nice. But the Schnitzel was so bad… skin and meat were immediately separate after being cut. Meat was so thin and has absolutely no taste. Flammkuchen was ok.

A very nice restaurant, with a very stylish interior. The food is exceptionally good, I highly recommend the veal schnitzel, I eat it every time I'm there. The potato salad with it is excellent. You are always welcomed very warmly and the service is unbeatable. The prices are a bit more expensive, but I'd rather pay 4 euros more and enjoy my food. I'm already looking forward to my next visit ❤️ Today I ate the tarte flambée, topped with spinach, tomatoes and sesame seeds, super tasty. The price-performance ratio is good, the tarte flambée costs around 13 euros. I always feel very comfortable here.

We landed here via Google. Sweet shop. Small memory card. We had schnitzel and tarte flambée, rosé wine and dessert. All very tasty. Staff very friendly. When the weather is nice it's great to sit outside. Gladly again because price performance is absolutely okay.

Great, rustic shop that scores with coziness and great food. The waitresses were nice and accommodating. The two of us had the cheese fondue and couldn't stop raving about it. Liquid, delicious cheese, great wine, bread, toppings and extras if required: what more could you want? We'd love to come back!

Very rustic, but also very comfortable. We had the cheese fondue (around €22 per person), a little stuff for dipping, two glasses of wine each (from €6 or so) and at the end a delicious dessert at the recommendation of the waitress. Everything was really tasty and we didn't have to wait long for the food. The price is a bit on the higher end but since the rest just fit, I don't have a problem with it. It's just something for every now and then, not weekly (at least in my case). I will definitely come back, at the beginning of the year the fondue was also available with Gorgonzola. The rest of the card looked very attractive. Tip: Be sure to make a reservation, to be on the safe side.

Good morning, A group of you went to the wine bar and had an almost wonderful evening with delicious cheese fondue and great drinks. The service was excellent, unfortunately except for one thing. Unfortunately, the colleague let his bad mood prevail in a very rude and unprofessional manner because people called him or someone ordered a chocolate fondue instead of the dessert from the menu as a joke after dinner. Responses like "order right now or I'm leaving" were direct responses after the order was interrupted due to a phone call. Unfortunately, that ruined the evening a bit. I hope it was an exception, because otherwise all the employees were very nice, professional and courteous. There were tips because of the other dear colleagues, I hope the money goes to the right people. It would have been 5 stars without this employee.

From the great service, with the boss sometimes having a slight tendency to be black, to the quality of the food and drinks, everything is top notch. The wine selection is great, especially that "rare drop". The prices are absolutely fair for this great quality. When the guests come out of the restaurant full of food, beaming - and with a lot of list here and there - you can That wouldn't have been so bad😊. The owner couple works full time, something that doesn't happen that often anymore. Sa's restaurant is really very small, so it's hard to get a seat without a reservation in advance.

Das Käsefondue ist nicht zu übertreffen. Es war ein Traum… Klein aber feines uriges Lokal, am besten vorher reservieren. Das Personal und der Wein bekommen auch 10/10 Sternen. :-)

A cozy place in a nice neighborhood. That's what attracted me to it. Staff is very friendly. They have a strange menu. Like having ~10 EUR cheese platter. Made no sense to order such items. Flammkuchen was good, but the crème brulee was bad. All in all might be worth visiting once, but won't return.

We went in hungry and ordered a bit too much, the Flammkuchen with raclette was delicious and maybe only needed a side extra to share between 2. We tried the schnitzel, which I’ve never had before, and it’s a very boring bland dish? We were offered a side of white asparagus, which they gave us 1 each, that’s a lot of asparagus! The menu was quite limited, but I would return for the Flammkuchen raclette.

Kleine aber feine Weinstube. Die Karte ist klein gehalten, dafür ist das Essen aber sehr gut. Die Weine sowieso. Definitiv einen Besuch wert. Einzig einen Punkt Abzug, da Bedienung und Chef ignorierten dass einer Dame die Jacke auf den Boden gefallen ist. Bei dem intimen Ambiente sollte sowas sofort gesehen und aufgehoben werden. Und man hätte es gesehen.....

Kurzfristig entschieden und Glück gehabt, ohne Reservierung einen Tisch zu bekommen. Gute Weine, leckeres Essen und ein netter Inhaber haben den Abend zu einem gelungenen Event gemacht. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis sind absolut in Ordnung. Wir kommen bestimmt mal wieder.

Leider ein enttäuschender Abend. Das essen ist qualitativ minderwertig, sowohl die Produkte als auch die zubereitungsart. Der Service schüchtern und überfordert. Die Weinkarte stellt ein Preisniveau da, welches dem Ambiente nicht gerecht wird. Coq au vin war extrem schlecht zubereitet. Fertiger Hühnchenschenkel aufgewärmt mit irgendwelchen untypischen Gewürzen und dazu eine Sauce, die weit weg von einer saucenreduktion war. Im Prinzip fertiggockel mit Wasser Wein Schorle - lieblos auf den Teller geklatscht.

Ein uriges und kleines Lokal mit herzhafter Küche zu fairen Preisen. Routinierte und nette Gastgeber. Wir kommen wieder.

Die Weinstube ist gemütlich eingerichtet, der Service sehr aufmerksam und freundlich und das Essen war ausgesprochen lecker (der Wein natürlich auch). Wir hatten Käsefondue und Lamm und beides war ausgesprochen gut. kann ich sicher empfehlen!!!

Die Einrichtung der Weinstube ist genau so, wie man sich eine Weinstube vorstellt: Viel Holz, angenehmes Licht (nicht zu dunkel), insgesamt äußerst gemütlich. Außerdem gibt es auch Plätze draußen, da sitzt es sich sicher sehr angenehm - die Papenhuder Straße ist sehr ruhig. Die Speisen sind vorzüglich und für ihre Qualität (und Menge) - wie wir finden - ziemlich günstig. Die Weinauswahl ist - wie nicht anders zu erwarten - prima. Es geht gar nicht darum, dass da jetzt bestimmte Weingüter auf der Karte stehen, sondern es wird einfach eine breite Auswahl geboten, bei der jede(r), der/die gerne ein Glas (oder eine Flasche) Wein trinkt, auf jeden Fall fündig wird. Schließlich: Die Menschen, die in der Weinstube tätig sind, sind äußerst freundlich. Fazit: Man fühlt sich in der Uhlenhorster Weinstube sehr wohl und kann sehr gut essen und trinken. Immer wieder gerne!

Wir haben die Uhlenhorster Weinstube gewählt, da wir Lust auf Wiener Schnitzel hatten und wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Das Lokal ist sehr urig gestaltet und der Service ist ausgesprochen freundlich und höflich. Das Wiener Schnitzel ist absolut zu empfehlen, wie auch der Flammkuchen. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Deftige Küche und zahlreiche Weine in allen Preislagen; dazu freundliches Personal und gemütliche Atmosphäre.

Went as a party of 16, we all had the fondue cheese and it was delicious. The staff were really helpful and spoke perfect English. Lovely experience.

Quite a simple, charming and very friendly place with a little local buzz to it. The menu is not extensive or elaborate, but probably about as authentic as you could get in a major city like Hamburg. Good selection of wines. It is close to the Alster and 15 mins walk from the Meridien of Atlantic hotels.

Abbiamo cenato in questo piccolo ristorante vicino al lago alster, abbiamo trovato un angolo della realtà locale di Amburgo, molto buoni i piatti presi, anche il vino era buono, il personale molto cordiale e disponibile. Prezzo assolutamente onesto. Ci torneremo.

Das Essen ist sehr lecker - es gibt neben der Speisekarte eine abwechslungsreiche 'Kreidetafel' auf der man auf jeden Fall fündig wird! Das Risotto mit Tomaten und Scampi war unglaublich lecker und die Portion sehr sättigend. Der Wein war natürlich auch ausgezeichnet (Pinot Noir 2013)! Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Wir kommen sicher wieder.

Wir waren am Vatertag zum xten Mal, diesmal mit Freunden, in der Weinstube. Das Restaurant haben wir gewählt, weil wir hier wirklich noch nie, nie, nie enttäuscht wurden. Und so war es auch diesmal - gemütliche Atmosphäre, noch eine Decke, da mir kalt war, freundliche, unaufdringliche Bedienung und leckeres Essen. Die Küche ist wirklich klasse - ohne viel Firlefanz, man schmeckt, was man isst, neben der Karte immer saisonale Gerichte dabei, vernünftige Portionen und super lecker. Wir werden immer wieder kommen!

We had passed by several times and never tenpted to enter. After reading reviews we gave it a try and we enjoyed a lot the food! Small place with nice menu, we had flammkuchen and a cheese platter both very tasty. The cheese fondue also looked tempting!

The best Steak Tartare I have ever eaten. Personally served by the owner with imagination and flare. Visited a second night and had the daily special ribs" which was also splendid. My wife had an unusual Alsacienne pastry dish not unlike pizza but much lighter and also very enjoyable. The wine list is both comprehensive and not unreasonable.

It was a great dinner with excellent simple food, the only drawback was that the air is quite stuffy and some of the guests are extremely loud each time. Otherwise a great place to eat. ;)

Visiting with my wife the first thing that was apparent was that this was a restaurant for locals. A couple at a nearby table brought their dog - very sweet. Very patient service and happy to explain. Asparagus was in season so we had an asparagus and schnitzel combination - 500g of asparagus each!! The hollandaise sauce was freshly prepared and it was just all round delicious if a bit large on portion size! A truly local experience.

This wonderful restaurant has it all. Excellent service. Amazing food. Fantastic wine. Cosy and comfortable atmosphere. I have been coming here almost once a month over the last year and I take all my friends here because it is so good. I have to recommend the Wiener Schnitzel (my favourite), Rosti and the specials are top notch too. The Flammkuchen / Tarte Flambée and Fondue dishes look great too. Next on my list to try another time. For Dessert, check out the Creme Brûlée or the 3 scoops of chocolate ice cream with egg liqueur. Booking definitely recommended and it's usually fully booked every night!! It's worth coming to Hamburg just to visit this great restaurant!

I was looking to be impressed by a top German restaurant (as this one is very often completely booked out). They managed to squeeze us in between 6pm and 8pm as all tables were taken and this was Tuesday evening! Pleasant staff and a strong German theme to decor, ideal for tourists like us. I ordered crackling for starters and was served a ramiken of pork fat. This was to be spread on bread . It not only looked awful it tasted the same. The usual tourist error of literally interpreting something and getting something of the wall. The goose breast was good with crispy skin albeit a bit dry to eat, served with a sort of dumpling which was tasteless and completely inadequate. The other main was a flat bread type base, like a tortilla but square with a coating of cheese and some nuts. Again not sparkling food by any means. I suspect this caters for local people who enjoy traditional food in surroundings that reflect local culture. It was a curiosity visit and to that end serve me well but, with a fairly limited and uninspiring menu and no real cooking flair it is not a serious foodie place at all. However if you want that German cuisine experience I would suggest you go but please book.

Lovely room. Stuffed with people. Nice but not gourmet food and good wines. Great staff. Speedy servings. Great place to spend an evening, but very noisy. Good for the buzzling atmosphere, but not for "cuisine". Previous reviews have been extremely positive but albeit a nice evening our expectations (perhaps our mistake) were not really met.

We came here on the off chance, but sadly it was fully booked. So although we didn't get to sample the menu, I feel I want to comment on the atmosphere and the wonderful staff. It felt so warm, and welcoming, and the staff made every effort to accommodate us. Will definitely book this place and do a proper review next month

This Weinstube is specialised in tarte flambés - i.e. flammkuchen, so I suggest you try that! The atmosphere is great and the place is very popular - it is recommended to reserve a table as I saw many people turned away from the door.

If your in hamburg and looking for a cosy traditional german welcome, visit this place. Lovely food good english speaking staff and a english translated menu. it has all you need to be able to enjoy a good meal.
