„Übersee“ Restaurant, Café & Bar in Erfurt

Beautifully located on the Gera River. You can sit inside or outside on the balconies/terraces. The service is very friendly and makes a wide variety of choices possible. The cocktails are well-mixed and reasonably priced.

Unfortunately, we have to give it one star; we deserve zero. We've rarely experienced something so bad, and we only had a drink. The service was absolutely unfriendly, the cocktails were tasteless, and it took a very long time. We wanted to try it again, but Übersee just can't seem to get back to the way it used to be. Perhaps they should shorten the menu.

The stay was very pleasant - our table by the water was excellent, the terrace was not crowded, so we didn't have to wait long for drinks and food, and we were able to sit in the shade under the umbrella in today's hot temperatures.

This is what makes breakfast together fun: beautiful ambiance by the water and super friendly and attentive service 😊 - we'd love to come back!

Today we were at Übersee with full tables. It was very nice. Sure, it took a while, but quality comes before speed. We especially recommend the homemade lemonade and cocktails.

Very good service, good location, and a very cool terrace. You can eat after 9:00 PM. I recommend it.

Waited almost an hour for drinks. Waited about 1.5 hours for an appetizer. Main course: unclear when it would arrive. Cancelled. Left hungry. I'll never come back. Absolutely not.

We have a lot of experience with spare ribs around the world, and we have high standards. But these are definitely among the best we've ever eaten. You don't need any cutlery, and both the barbecue and whiskey versions taste absolutely fantastic. The other dishes also looked very good. The service is attentive, fast, and friendly. And the ambiance right on the water doesn't need to be said. Definitely a recommendation.

A beautiful little restaurant with the wrong kind of unfriendly, unmotivated service. I wonder why people have to be grateful for a "Hello" or a smile these days. And if the lady doesn't feel like serving, she should say so instead of walking past the table five times! And there was nothing going on! Extremely disappointed!

What can I say? Negative reviews usually get deleted. We were here upstairs today for a company party. We noticed that there's a staff shortage in the industry. Nobody came, and you had to go downstairs every now and then to order. Okay, you save money and don't get drunk. The food—I had pork medallions—was dried out and overcooked. Orders were mixed up or even forgotten. This will be my last visit, but I was only a guest in EF...shame on you!

Definitely recommended. Great food, great atmosphere. You should call ahead to reserve. The best place to sit is outside on the water. You can have a great breakfast and dinner. We'd love to come back :)

I've been there many times, and the quality is consistently good every time. Always worth a visit, whether for food or drinks. I also really like the varied menu; there's something for everyone. The service is always excellent, too.

The breakfast here is great. We were there for lunch for the first time and were more than disappointed. The burgers are drowning in indefinable sauce, the bun is dry, the beef patty is overcooked, and the veggie patty tastes like nothing. Dishes that are listed as spicy on the menu taste bland, but the glass noodles are so spicy they're almost impossible to eat. Such a shame!

Amazing location. The prices are similar in the area so there are no complaints there. The food was great and the service was great. 10/10 would recommend.

The staff was somewhat unfriendly. The bruschetta was completely soggy, and the burgers were frozen, forgettable. Never again...

The food is okay, but not good. The price doesn't reflect the quality of what you get. Unfortunately, the service hasn't been that good these days, and you can wait up to 30 minutes for someone to show up. The ambiance, however, is beautiful. Sitting outside by the river is always great.

Unfortunately I was very disappointed with my last visit. My chicken dish smelled and tasted strongly of fish - which didn't go with the dish at all and was very unpleasant. At first I thought the smell came from the lettuce and left it out. But with the rice the smell of fish became even more intense. I could barely eat the food and left most of it on my plate. The service person even asked if everything was okay - I explained the incident to her, but I still had to pay the full price.

Nice bar, weren't there to eat. Very friendly and fast service, muffled music. Gladly again.

Simply mega✨✨✨ We would be there for breakfast with a group of 10 people. The recommendation from the very friendly service staff was super tasty and very attractively presented. The ambience right on the water is simply fantastic when the weather is good.

Nice, not expensive place. The waiters are friendly and attentive. The food came quickly (not that important personally) and was delicious. In summer, the outdoor terrace above the Gera with a view of the Krämerbrücke is recommended

Unfortunately the ambience and service were poor. We had to wait a quarter of an hour for our cocktails and were about to leave.

It's a real shame...It's been our regular restaurant for a long time, but it's becoming increasingly unkempt and the quality is declining. Dirty dishes, food, well, price/performance isn't great anymore. The view of the river is priceless.

The restaurant itself is quite nice; it was huge and spread over several floors. It was also good that we were able to make a reservation for a large group of 15 people at short notice, for the same morning for the evening on a Saturday. What was a bit difficult, however, was that when we arrived at 7:30 p.m., we were told that the kitchen was overloaded and that food orders would not be accepted again for another hour. Of course, we had to accept this, but advance notice might have been helpful... Ordering drinks and getting them delivered also took a relatively long time, so in the end, everyone only ordered one drink (which, to be honest, is costing the restaurant money...). The drinks themselves were delicious, though. The food selection is very broad, too broad, to be honest. It seems random: two pasta dishes between spare ribs, between a curry and burgers and Thuringian cuisine, etc. It's kind of everything and nothing. It's no wonder the kitchen can't keep up with so much variety. The vegetarian/vegan offerings were rather poor, too. All in all, it was okay.

I highly recommend this cute little restaurant. I'd love to come back. The staff is super attentive and friendly. The location in the heart of the old town is fantastic. You can sit on the terrace right by the water. The value for money is perfect. And the food is absolutely delicious.

Saturday evening, the restaurant is full. Apparently there are too few and hardly any trained staff available. You can't see if something is missing or the glasses are empty, so there's no question as to whether the steak should be medium or different. Food is so-so, in no way commensurate with the price. Curry with overcooked vegetables. Argentinian steak doesn't come really hot...

Hello dear team, I also have to say that I was disappointed. I've been to you several times before, but yesterday it was nothing. The same drink, filled differently: sometimes with orange, sometimes not. When asked what cola it was, the nice waitress said she had to ask. I don't like Pepsi. Unfortunately, my whiskey and cola came to the table without being asked. We spontaneously stopped in for a drink after visiting a restaurant. It was around 9 p.m. and already very clear. Around 10 p.m. everything around was cleaned. We had such a bad conscience that we asked the gentleman with the glasses behind the bar when it was closing. We no longer remembered the Monday opening times. The prompt answer: “Actually now, when there’s not much going on.” That was a slap in the face. We increased sales within an hour for 55 euros plus a tip. Unfortunately, I cannot understand why the catering industry is struggling due to a lack of customers. The overseas is definitely not affected by this. Great luck! In the future, we will spend our money where guests are valued.

Centrally located in Erfurt's old town, near the Krämerbrücke. We were here spontaneously for breakfast, the staff was very attentive, the food was delicious. We'd love to come back.

I come from North Rhine-Westphalia! (Bonn) and was able to visit beautiful Erfurt again because of a visit from my last friend in the world.... Once again we failed badly, simply because the service is good, the attention is paid and the ambience is right! Staff attentive, nice to look at and willing to engage with my borderline humor... I like to have charm and humor, I'm aware of that! ...but I also know that I can be very tiring....You did a good job and I was very happy to still be respected as a guest with my style! WARNING: I'll be back... Gladly!

Just great!!! 😊 We were there with a large group of 16 people at lunchtime on a Saturday. Really great atmosphere, service great 👍🏼 and the food really lovingly prepared, made quickly and everything delivered to the table together. Really recommended, everything is TOP 👍🏼

Since we haven't been overseas for a long time, we spontaneously decided to stop by for dinner. However, the memories of our visits a few years ago were much better. The food has worn off. I had mine returned. I got a new one straight away, but it didn't taste that great either. All in all, that was better.

Huge portion of ribs eaten, very tender with delicious sauce. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly and very attentive service.

Yesterday I was with someone in the overseas restaurant, had a Spyci and chicken burger, the hamburger meat in the Spyciburger was not a highlight, quite firm and dry, the chicken burger was better and completely okay. The staff wasn't particularly careful and would have provided a second drink, but no service staff came by for a long time, so it was only average.

A lovely evening, everything was really tasty. The wait for the food was a bit long, but luckily for everyone it tasted very good. Rhubarb-ginger drink also very tasty. So go there 👍👍👍

Went there for coffee on a recommendation. Not again. The waitress spoke almost no German and didn't understand our order. I consider that to be a minimum requirement.

It's always really nice here and the price-performance ratio is also right. Delicious food and nice service. You can have a very good breakfast, but you can also stop off in the evening. Everything is great.

As with many restaurants, the weather has a huge impact on the ambience. But Erfurt's city center next to the Krämerbrücke is simply something very special. We had breakfast here for my birthday and it was great. The scrambled eggs with bacon were on point and the drinks were big and tasty. The composition of the breakfast was rich and sensible. The view of the slowly flowing Gera in the sunshine directly from the window is more than just worth a visit. The staff was super friendly and took good care of us. The only thing you need to know about accessibility is that basically all parking options are a few hundred meters away. Anger 1, Domplatz or behind the town hall (if something is free here) would be the recommendations. Approx. 5 to 8 minutes walk away. We were thrilled with the ambience, staff and food and drinks. We'll definitely be back. We had our first date here and it hasn't gotten any worse in almost 17 years. Always a recommendation!

It was another visit to a restaurant that you won't forget. The ambience is great, just a bit worn out. But food tasty and rich. I had the spare ribs and they tasted wonderful. Otherwise toilets a bit small but clean.

We had a huge, wonderful breakfast for two, which was almost impossible to manage, including orange juice, coffee and Prosecco, and all of that on the great terrace right next to the Gera river as it flows quietly past, including ducks and dancing autumn leaves. The staff was also very nice and humorous. Luckily we decided to do this! :-)

I haven't been overseas for a long time, but from my current visit it seems to me that there is a new, motivated team at work here. The seating in the bar area without backrests is of course not designed to be used for several hours.

After I was already very disappointed with the food and service in February, we tried again because just two years ago the Übersee was an excellent address. Unfortunately we were disappointed again today and this time it was even harder. The service was subpar. You had to ask about the possibility of ordering food yourself, the drinks you ordered didn't come and to top it all off, only 3 out of 4 meals came. Only after another 20 minutes was I offered an alternative, by now the rest of the table had finished eating. But the three burgers we ordered were also just mediocre for “burger day”. The burger patties were not homemade, but frozen. The price is really outrageous. The price-performance ratio is not right here. It's a shame, but today was probably our last visit!

Bar for drinking. We used to call it the cowhide bar, but after a renovation it now unfortunately has no cowhide and is a bit cold. Very strong Long Island iced teas, the second one is deadly ;)

You can't complain about the food, the staff is friendly too. But I'll never sit downstairs again. The cleanliness has deteriorated so much over the last few years. The cleanliness of the toilets is terrible. It's cleaner in Erfurt pubs! The smell kitchen in the basement is also very pleasant. How can you expect your customers to eat right next to the shithouse and these beastly smells or even have the audacity to offer customers seats there? This entire area around the cigarette machine is really disgusting. But maybe the employees should have lunch there themselves. Apparently no one notices.

Delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere with dishes and space for the whole family. With a great view of the river and a team that can handle a full house, it's fast and friendly. Thank you for that! Attention: Be sure to reserve seats for dinner as it is rightly very popular.

Nice, cozy and delicious. We were here on Saturday and it was pretty busy. Nevertheless, we were served friendly and quickly and had a delicious breakfast for two.
