„Übersee“ Restaurant, Café & Bar in Erfurt

A super nice bar where we had a fantastic breakfast with friends: the view was beautiful, the breakfast was delicious, and the service was excellent. We highly recommend this wonderful bar. 🤗

The Übersee restaurant in Erfurt is always a highlight for us. Its location right on the Gera River is simply idyllic – sitting on the small terraces overlooking the water creates a truly special atmosphere. The selection of drinks is huge, and there's something for everyone on the menu: from regional classics to international dishes. I can particularly recommend the regional cuisine. Today we had beef goulash with sauerkraut and potato dumplings – and what can I say? Simply delicious! The meat was wonderfully juicy, the sauce rich and aromatic, the sauerkraut pleasantly well-rounded, and potato dumplings are always a perfect match. We're already looking forward to our next visit next year. Many thanks to the entire Übersee team!

We were there today. The service was incredibly friendly and the food delicious. The breakfast plates on the other tables also looked beautifully presented. Great view and comfortable seating.

We hadn't been here in ages. Unfortunately, the visit was quite disappointing. We did manage to get a table on Saturday evening without a reservation, but that was the only good thing about the whole experience. We had to wait an incredibly long time for our drinks, which contained more ice than anything else. We were seated in a spot where we could see the staff. That's hardly what you'd call motivated; the bartender seemed more interested in having drinks with the guys sitting at the front than in mixing cocktails. Things used to be so much better. It's a shame that nothing has changed in the restaurant itself for over 10 years – the furniture and everything is the same. We'll definitely be looking for somewhere else to spend the evening.

An absolute disaster. The restaurant business here is completely wrong. The service was friendly, but the quality of the cocktails, coffee, and cappuccinos was truly awful. We were served frothed milk as a cappuccino, and the drinks arrived half an hour apart. We couldn't exchange one of the cocktails because the "bar" insisted everything was fine.

Highly recommended! Delicious food, friendly staff, and a fantastic atmosphere. I'll be back!

The Übersee restaurant is a bit dated, but it's enhanced by its young, friendly service. The food is good, but the portions are relatively small. Plan on ordering an appetizer or dessert.

Monday: Delicious cheeseburger for €13.50 with fries, and the portion was more than sufficient. Tuesday: Ribs all you can eat, BBQ or Tennessee marinade, €18.90, and the taste was amazing... plus top-notch service. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Erfurt.

I simply love this place! The Übersee Bar has a great atmosphere, great music, and friendly staff. I always feel really comfortable there. The cocktails are excellent – ​​made with a lot of love. I love this place with all my heart!

Unfortunately, no revelation. At least for us, a lot of things didn't work. Having to go up to the first and second floors with two guests over 70—well, you might as well ask beforehand... The first floor was dark and cold, and the heating didn't work either. For dinner, we had spareribs, boiled beef, roast pork, and curry chicken. The spareribs were great, with a bit too much of the very overpowering BBQ sauce, but they were buttery soft! The Mutzbraten, on the other hand, was absolutely dry and tough; we could hardly taste any horseradish. The roast pork was tough, but the side dish was good. The chicken was also dry, a bit small, but otherwise okay. We expected more...

It's become one of my favorite places during my three days in Erfurt. I recommend making a reservation if you want to sit on the terrace.

I've enjoyed coming to the Übersee for years. The food and drinks are really good, and I like the location. The staff is always friendly and cheerful. Keep it up. What I would like to improve is that the furniture is showing its age and is worn. Everything could use a fresh coat of paint. The women's restroom always has a slightly unpleasant smell, but it's generally clean.

We were there yesterday with a large group and had a wonderful evening. Our service was simply excellent. All the dishes, whether liver, salads, chicken, or salmon, were very good. Highly recommended.

A very nice restaurant with a great atmosphere and reasonable prices. Service was a bit disorganized that evening, but they were very friendly and responded promptly and competently when they were informed of an error in the order.

We had the Bangkok curry and chicken saltimbocca. Both were very tasty and large, generous portions. The house-made raspberry mint lemonade (hot) was delicious. The restroom on the third floor is only accessible via stairs. Unfortunately, there's no hook on the toilet for a bag or jacket. The faucet is tiny and awkward for washing hands properly. There's potential for improvement. The restrooms were spotlessly clean, though. We sat inside by the window. It was a very nice atmosphere. Super friendly service. & 😋 Food

We were here for dinner. The Übersee restaurant is located right on the Merchants' Bridge over the Gera River in Erfurt's old town. You can sit and enjoy international dishes in several dining rooms or on the terrace outside, right by the river. The menu is rather short, but the dishes are very tasty. The service is very friendly and attentive. Orders were taken promptly and correctly. The restrooms are clean and tidy. Prices are a bit high, but probably normal for the location and ambiance. We'll be back. 💪🏻

We were overseas again. One positive thing was that the prices were still reasonable. However, you can tell that the portions have gotten significantly smaller. That's okay, considering the price trend. One point deducted for the missing avocado in the eggs Benedict. Avocado cream with a lot of vinegar spoils the taste. Another point deducted for the eggs with bacon, which were prepared using the same cookware/utensils that were previously used to prepare fish. Absolutely unacceptable. The service was excellent!

The cheeseburger was really delicious! A new creation, something I hadn't heard of before... It was really tasty, and I was full afterward! Perfect!

Unfortunately, I'm totally dissatisfied. They have identical burgers across the street for €5 less. They also serve real Coke Zero, not soapy Pepsi. We find it really weird that both restaurants have the same name. The staff at the Broiler Bar is also much friendlier. I would never go back to that restaurant. Even when the weather's nice, you can sit outside the shop.

The two of us came here for dinner. The food was delicious. We enjoyed excellent service from Robert, who always had a friendly joke on his lips. Together with Martin in the kitchen, we were able to customize the interesting menu. Our stay was therefore extremely satisfying.

A few years ago, I discovered this place on the Gera River. This time, I booked a breakfast table on the terrace for two days for four of us women from Berlin. Friendly service, unhurried atmosphere, pleasant small talk, and the wide selection also delighted my companions. We were able to sample the variety over two days, and it was delicious. It certainly won't be my last time there.

The food tastes average, and the prices are quite high, but the terrace is very nice on the water with a view of the Merchants' Bridge. The service is very friendly.

This is a real hot spot. We arrived late in the morning as a small group. Despite the packed place, we were given a table for six with a side view of the Gera River. When asked whether we wanted breakfast or lunch, the extremely friendly waitress wasn't unhappy when we just wanted a drink. The drinks were very good and arrived promptly. The food selections visible at other tables made a very good impression. A definite recommendation!

The stay was very pleasant - our table by the water was excellent, the terrace was not crowded, so we didn't have to wait long for drinks and food and were able to sit in the shade under the umbrella in today's hot temperatures.

The service was absolutely unfriendly, the cocktails were tasteless, and it took a very long time. We just wanted to try it again, but Übersee just can't seem to get back to the way it used to be. Today we were at Übersee with full tables. It was very nice. Sure, it took a while, but quality comes before speed. We especially recommend the homemade lemonade and cocktails.

Waited almost an hour for drinks. Waited about 1.5 hours for an appetizer. Main course: unclear when it would arrive. Cancelled. Left hungry. I'll never come back. Absolutely not.

Very good service, good location, and a very cool terrace. You can eat after 9:00 PM. I recommend it.

We have a lot of experience with spare ribs around the world, and we have high standards. But these are definitely among the best we've ever eaten. You don't need any cutlery, and both the barbecue and whiskey versions taste absolutely fantastic. The other dishes also looked very good. The service is attentive, fast, and friendly. And the ambiance right on the water doesn't need to be said. Definitely a recommendation.

A beautiful little restaurant with the wrong kind of unfriendly, unmotivated service. I wonder why people have to be grateful for a "Hello" or a smile these days. And if the lady doesn't feel like serving, she should say so instead of walking past the table five times! And there was nothing going on! Extremely disappointed!

What can I say? Negative reviews usually get deleted. We were here upstairs today for a company party. We noticed that there's a staff shortage in the industry. Nobody came, and you had to go downstairs every now and then to order. Okay, you save money and don't get drunk. The food—I had pork medallions—was dried out and overcooked. Orders were mixed up or even forgotten. This will be my last visit, but I was only a guest in EF...shame on you!

Definitely recommended. Great food, great atmosphere. You should call ahead to reserve. The best place to sit is outside on the water. You can have a great breakfast and dinner. We'd love to come back :)

I've been there many times, and the quality is consistently good every time. Always worth a visit, whether for food or drinks. I also really like the varied menu; there's something for everyone. The service is always excellent, too.

The breakfast here is great. We were there for lunch for the first time and were more than disappointed. The burgers are drowning in indefinable sauce, the bun is dry, the beef patty is overcooked, and the veggie patty tastes like nothing. Dishes that are listed as spicy on the menu taste bland, but the glass noodles are so spicy they're almost impossible to eat. Such a shame!

The staff was somewhat unfriendly. The bruschetta was completely soggy, and the burgers were frozen, forgettable. Never again...

The food is okay, but not good. The price doesn't reflect the quality of what you get. Unfortunately, the service hasn't been that good these days, and you can wait up to 30 minutes for someone to show up. The ambiance, however, is beautiful. Sitting outside by the river is always great.

Unfortunately I was very disappointed with my last visit. My chicken dish smelled and tasted strongly of fish - which didn't go with the dish at all and was very unpleasant. At first I thought the smell came from the lettuce and left it out. But with the rice the smell of fish became even more intense. I could barely eat the food and left most of it on my plate. The service person even asked if everything was okay - I explained the incident to her, but I still had to pay the full price.

It's a real shame...It's been our regular restaurant for a long time, but it's becoming increasingly unkempt and the quality is declining. Dirty dishes, food, well, price/performance isn't great anymore. The view of the river is priceless.

The restaurant itself is quite nice; it was huge and spread over several floors. It was also good that we were able to make a reservation for a large group of 15 people at short notice, for the same morning for the evening on a Saturday. What was a bit difficult, however, was that when we arrived at 7:30 p.m., we were told that the kitchen was overloaded and that food orders would not be accepted again for another hour. Of course, we had to accept this, but advance notice might have been helpful... Ordering drinks and getting them delivered also took a relatively long time, so in the end, everyone only ordered one drink (which, to be honest, is costing the restaurant money...). The drinks themselves were delicious, though. The food selection is very broad, too broad, to be honest. It seems random: two pasta dishes between spare ribs, between a curry and burgers and Thuringian cuisine, etc. It's kind of everything and nothing. It's no wonder the kitchen can't keep up with so much variety. The vegetarian/vegan offerings were rather poor, too. All in all, it was okay.

I highly recommend this cute little restaurant. I'd love to come back. The staff is super attentive and friendly. The location in the heart of the old town is fantastic. You can sit on the terrace right by the water. The value for money is perfect. And the food is absolutely delicious.

Saturday evening, the restaurant is full. Apparently there are too few and hardly any trained staff available. You can't see if something is missing or the glasses are empty, so there's no question as to whether the steak should be medium or different. Food is so-so, in no way commensurate with the price. Curry with overcooked vegetables. Argentinian steak doesn't come really hot...

Hello dear team, I also have to say that I was disappointed. I've been to you several times before, but yesterday it was nothing. The same drink, filled differently: sometimes with orange, sometimes not. When asked what cola it was, the nice waitress said she had to ask. I don't like Pepsi. Unfortunately, my whiskey and cola came to the table without being asked. We spontaneously stopped in for a drink after visiting a restaurant. It was around 9 p.m. and already very clear. Around 10 p.m. everything around was cleaned. We had such a bad conscience that we asked the gentleman with the glasses behind the bar when it was closing. We no longer remembered the Monday opening times. The prompt answer: “Actually now, when there’s not much going on.” That was a slap in the face. We increased sales within an hour for 55 euros plus a tip. Unfortunately, I cannot understand why the catering industry is struggling due to a lack of customers. The overseas is definitely not affected by this. Great luck! In the future, we will spend our money where guests are valued.
