ÜberQuell Brauerei in Hamburg

Half of the dishes were apparently sold out. We had to wait over 1 hour for our pizza. It was tasty, but there wasn't even any sugar in the coffee. Absolutely chaotic juice shop! The only plus point - the very nice and embarrassed waiter.

The menu impresses with a good selection of drinks, definitely the restaurant's strength. However, the only food on the menu was pizza, which unfortunately was of poor quality. The dough was burnt on the edges and completely soggy in the middle. And the topping hardly tasted like anything. The ambience also takes some getting used to, the street is quite loud outside and musty air blows in from the harbor. The service was always friendly.

Great ambience, service great too. Unfortunately not everything on the map is available. Dessert available would have been great.

Still a top location with a view of the Elbe and very tasty beer. Before the renovation, you could order at the tables using a QR code. Unfortunately, this is no longer possible and this leads to a (!) long queue at the counter. Even more than the service, the quality of the food has declined (there will be a new head chef after the renovation). The pizza base is tasty, but the toppings were bland and sparse. And calling four slices of toasted bread foccaccia is, to put it carefully, a slap in the face to every Italian. We didn't have bowls. Next time we won't eat here again because the performance doesn't reflect the price.

Good craft beer, great location, no service outside, and long lines in better weather. This could be better solved with QR code ordering at the table. The pizza wasn't good (it wasn't in the oven for long enough), and the focaccia was four hard pieces of bread with two delicious sauces. But the quality is unacceptable.

We wanted to eat a snack for two - there wasn't...so: FOCACCIA & DIPS 8.90 HUMMUS, MOJO VERDE AND HOMEMADE FOCACCIA Focaccia was burnt white bread, pesto and something with mushrooms... upon request: We always make the bread like this and black/burnt because of the stone oven... Hummus wasn't ready yet, so something with mushrooms... Hummus was then delivered later (that was ok too!)... When we asked for the second time about the focaccia, we appealed to the honor of the Italian employee ;-) ... as an apology he offered us a drink on the house 👍 When we ordered it from self-service (!), we were told: “Anyone can come there”... we then got it, but sorry, totally disappointing from A to Z There were still a lot of broken glass under the table - just by the way... and yep, that ruined my sunny afternoon in the most beautiful city in the world! There were no bowls at all... I thought it was so nice with you the previous time - what a shame!

A really cozy shop with a good selection of beer, fresh from the tap. However, I don't think some of the prices are justified.

Best IPA I had in Hamburg so far. Even better than brewdog's . Their pizza kitchen was being renovated so I didn't have the chance to try it.

Update February 2025: Due to some renovation work, the menu was reduced to a fraction. This was what we got for our group of 8 for February 7th. not communicated in advance. Okay, everyone would have found something even on the small map. Unfortunately there wasn't even half of the menu. And, dear people, it is your company. Design it according to your wishes, but if cash payment is not possible, unfortunately we will not see each other again. We were there as a small group on a Friday. The noise level is quite high, but you can bear it well. The service is attentive, but almost reaches its limits when the store is full, but that doesn't affect the friendliness and fun. The pizza actually didn't convince us 100%, but it was okay. Conclusion: It was fun, we would probably go again.

Actually a really cool location. If it weren't for this fresh air problem, especially towards the pee box. Ventilation equals 0. I can't rate the food. The waiter was very nice and on point.

I don't normally write reviews, but this is the last straw. Unfortunately not recommended and zero stars. We came from very far away and made reservations 3 weeks in advance. Went there promptly at 7 p.m. If we knew about the renovation and the reduced menu, it wouldn't have been a problem. But suddenly there was nothing to eat at all, except “leftovers” from the chili sin carne, which we were not informed of when making the reservation. Now find a restaurant at short notice for 9 people on Saturday evening. Last but not least, the drinks couldn't be paid for in cash, only with a card, so it was all very strange and strange. The polite waiters who then had to tell us this could only make you feel sorry for us, where was the boss... In the end we were lucky in misfortune and found another great location.

Lovely craft beer Bar. For me they are on of the best craft beers im Hamburg. The pub is nice, cozy and Service is good. Been to the Restaurant years before but the Pizza isnt anything I need to go for, so I just visit the Bar for some great ales

Takes a long time, not recommended

The ÜberQuell was the perfect location for our fall wedding! Arrangements in advance were relaxed and uncomplicated, the pizza buffet was great, the entire team was friendly, competent and quick and the size was optimal and comfortable for around 60 guests. We received a lot of compliments and positive feedback about the location and the staff, the guests (and us too, of course) were very enthusiastic. Many thanks to bar manager Karim and the whole bar team for a wonderful evening, we couldn't have imagined it more beautiful :)

Stopped by spontaneously and had a delicious pizza. The current Christmas beer is also very tasty. We'll definitely be back!

I definitely advise against this place! Don't go here under any circumstances. Unless you are from the police, customs or an authority that takes care of hygiene.

Only the pizza with mixed mushrooms doesn't taste good at all.

A group of 30 people was served. As another guest, you were forgotten and not taken into account several times when ordering and then paying. Too bad.

Very very tasty pizzas. I was here for a company event and we had the opportunity to try each pizza as part of an all-you-can-eat.

The tuna pizza wasn't good and the capers didn't fit at all. For €14 I was very disappointed. Unfortunately, the chilli con carne was also inedible - we all felt that way in the group. The beer was ok but also quite expensive. I don't think we would go there again. But the service and the ambience were top

Nice place to have a beer or four. The pizzas here are nice to snack on on the side, but definitely not the star. The style of the furnishings is something that I personally find very appealing and fits well into the surroundings, although tastes may potentially differ here. The service also left nothing to be desired.

It's great that this brewery exists! and the lovely staff! everyone is doing their best! and that's why we've been coming there for 7 years! Craft beer for pure enjoyment and pizza is also a joy for my hips...If you're in Hamburg, even if you're just visiting, you should definitely go here! The beer is okay, the pizza is okay but there are better ones in Hamburg.

The pizza was great, the beer was excellent and the atmosphere was wonderful. I have no idea why this place would have a poor review as all the staff were super attentive and kind, we even met a fellow named Josh who I assume was the brew master, he told us all about the beer and brewery. It made for an incredible evening and we would recommend this place to anybody.

The place is nice, but that's it. Pizza is mediocre, service is friendly but slow, beer is the worst I have had in Germany by far, maybe ever. Don't try red wine instead, it is some of the cheapest swill they can probably find. Abzocke

Very nice outdoor area, a great selection of delicious drinks, easy to visit.

Douchbag manager, xenophobic. Don't visit this place at all. The criminal stands in the reception and decides who enters e who doesn't, the place was empty and without any motives my group (2 couples) was prevented to get in by the prejudiced german.

Unfortunately the manager was xenofobic with me. We arrived the bar with four persons and he told us that the bar was full booked. We waited a few minutes ouside the the bar and a big group of german guys arrived without any reservation (we asked them) and they were able to get in without any problems. When we enter back at bar the MANAGER said he is the guy who decides who can come in or not. After this we left without arguing knowing that the problem with us was our colour amd origin.

Nice service, I like the atmosphere. What .it doesn't like: Basil Gin... Relatively expensive and is only mixed with Basil lemonade. I would have expected more.

It takes forever to order. The pizza dough is nice but the ingredients poorly distributed so it turns out being 50% flatbread 50% pizza

We ate a really good pizza here. Combined with a nice selection of slightly different types of beer, we had a lovely evening. The service was great. Price and waiting time for the pizza would be the only points of criticism.

The beer garden was full, but being thrown out of the yard with the words "Well, everyone who doesn't have a reservation now" was really the highlight.

Terrible service. We entered the restaurant twice to have a drink and were turned away both times. The reason given was that we didn’t have a reservation, even though the place was half empty. If you can’t manage the number of people you have tables for, perhaps you should consider closing down and opening a smaller venue. This has never happened to me anywhere!!!

The three of us came and were told; Unfortunately no food due to closed company but then Mega the cellar brought 2 free pizzas on the house. The store is already full but with this action it is the best store in Hamburg.

We didn't come to drink beer, but to eat pizza on a Sunday evening. A mistake? Unfortunately, our expectations were not met due to the price/performance ratio of the pizzas and the non-alcoholic drinks. The pizza selection didn't suit our taste, and the pizzas with very large crusts were not well topped and therefore overpriced. Putting together a pizza with the ingredients that can be booked is beyond the price range. The prices for non-alcoholic drinks are too high. The service was good, the ambience inside was nice, but unfortunately the street outside was very loud.

Very nice restaurant in a brewery and something different than these classic breweries. There's hardly anything better than pizza with a beer. The pizzas are incredibly tasty and the dough has a nice taste. It's also great that you can put together your pizza toppings so freely. The beer selection is also very, very good and I particularly enjoyed the IPAs. The only thing that's annoying is ordering via smartphone if you're there longer and want to reorder something. You have to pay directly every time. That's possible, of course, but it would be nicer if you simply had the option to pay for everything once at the end.

The food itself was of acceptable quality, but the price was intense. It is desirable to order and pay online yourself. You have to like it.

We were sitting comfortably together here. The food was delicious and the beer was really good too. Ordering via QR code worked well, payment was a bit stupid because our credit card wasn't recognized. We then went to the staff and paid in cash.

Very tasty restaurant with vegetarian/vegan options!

The beer is really tasty (but it would be bad if it were different in a brewery) and the ambience is also special. However, we didn't like the pizza again. Absolutely bland and tasteless. The tomato sauce was basically unseasoned and the cheese didn't taste like anything. Maybe you should spread some oils (chilli/garlic) and salt pepper on the tables.

Great team, great beer and the pizzas are awesome. It's a pleasure to take a detour to this beautiful, alternative-style restaurant.

If the service spoils your meal - I've never experienced anything like that. It wasn't just a mushy answer that could possibly slip out due to stress - no, in my opinion we were treated very condescendingly throughout our stay and you were given the feeling that it was annoying that you were there. That way you can't taste the food at all and it totally spoiled it for me. Apart from that, the pizza is nothing special, partly too overloaded, unseasoned and the dough is soggy in the middle. At first they didn't want to let us sit on the terrace, even though there was a lot of space available, waiting times were very long - "we can't eat together anyway", we waited over an hour for the coffee and when we asked nicely we got a very unfriendly answer. Toilets not very clean. The beer is quite good and the “simpler” pizzas too, that's the only reason we get the two stars, but I would recommend anyone who is here - in the middle of Hamburg - to go somewhere else. There are so many great shops.

UnderVegs: Not suitable for vegans. The highlight was that we ordered a vegan pizza and got real cheese. After complaining, we took the funghi vegan without “cheese” as a precaution. Unfortunately it was inedible. No salt, unseasoned and underbaked. In the vegan bowl, the planted chicken was cold, so not fried or anything like that 🤔.

Great place and atmosphere, great beer! I specifically tried the 'world white IPA', but it looks like they know what they're doing!

It's amazing that we've been waiting for our pizza for 2 hours. One of our guests (mother with child) even had to leave before the food was there. It's a shame we paid beforehand.

Wir waren schon so oft da über Jahre und wir lieben die Pizza. Dieses Mal waren wir allerdings echt erstaunt, wie wenig Belag auf der Pizza Pikante war. Es gab Zeiten, da hatte man dreimal so viel Oliven auf der Pizza und auch mehr Wurst. Und jetzt musste man sie selber noch ein bisschen verteilen, damit man auf überhaupt auf jedem Stück Belag hatte. Wie gesagt, wir kommen seit Jahren und eng sind eigentlich immer die Picante als unsere Lieblingspizza. Wir haben also durchaus den Vergleich. Das jetzt fanden wir sehr enttäuschend.

Lovely beer and great atmosphere but waiting for pizza for 1h 30min so far after being told it will take 30-40min... We left after 1.45h, got beers for free and money back which is nice but our order got lost. My suspicion is that some other ppl got our food but thats just a guess. Staff was nice and were very sorry for the situation and that's all fine, no grudges. But at the end the location failed to produce food and that is a no go. Hope they improve on that.

We were just on the terrace to enjoy the delicious beer in the great weather. The team at the taps was very friendly, competent and let us try the many different beers. We also really liked the atmosphere right on the Elbe.

Today I spontaneously went there for dinner with my family. We found a nice spot on the terrace, were able to order easily using the online ordering system, got our drinks very quickly and, after a moderate wait, our food (various pizzas). These are certainly not in the cheap price segment, but they were very tasty and big enough so that it was fine. Of course, what is important in a brewery restaurant is that the beer tastes good, and that is without exception the case at Überquell. However, I would hope for slightly cheaper prices directly from the producer... but unfortunately it feels more expensive there than in stores. That's a bit of a shame. But I still couldn't avoid taking a few more bottles with me (while you're there) 😜 and then I was able to try a few beers straight away. That and the overall friendly service made up for the high prices. Overall, definitely a recommendation, especially for beer lovers... but not a location for those on a budget. ^^

We were there for the first time today to end the evening in a relaxed, nice atmosphere. The Aperol was ok to eat, we had the pizza bread with cheese and garlic and stone oven bread with aioli dip. Even though the stone oven bread was ultimately just baked pizza dough sticks, it was delicious.

When paying (self-service outside at the bar) before the meal, the man with a beard rudely pointed out that you should give a tip. Service terribly bad.

It's not possible to order and pay online

On Friday we watched the European Championship game in Überquell. Despite a very nice atmosphere, delicious drinks and a good location, the waiter was unfortunately very unfriendly to us. In the end he tipped himself without asking. A pity.

Tasty beers and fresh pizza's. One of the best combos out there and you can get them both at this urban location. Staff was great and friendly.

If you don't want food, beer or service you should come here! We waited 1 1/2 hours for food for my bachelor party and after repeated inquiries we were told that they were busy and the food would be coming soon... Never again!

Pizza was delicious. Waiter was nice. The service at the counter was very rude and irritable. As a larger group, we ordered all-you-can-eat pizza, but it took over an hour for the first pizza to arrive. At least the waiter was nice; unlike the cashier. All in all not recommended due to the staff and the long waiting time.

This place is an absolute nightmare. I made reservations for 12 people weeks in advance. On the evening itself, for some reason the bouncer didn't want to let half of the group in. It wasn't until I was able to prove with the confirmation email that they belonged to my group that we were finally allowed in. We had made a reservation for 8 p.m. and at 9 p.m. we hadn't even gotten any drinks or ordered anything. When we asked the waiter if we could order something, he told us it would take up to 30 minutes. After waiting for over an hour we had enough and told the waiter we were leaving, he didn't care. When we left the house, the doorman had locked the gate with his keys and left. After waiting another ten minutes and begging him to open it, we then had to climb over the gate! The irresponsibility of this restaurant is unbelievable. It is against the law to lock doors and exits during business hours as it poses a fire hazard. We also had a few older people with us who found it difficult to get over the gate. I definitely cannot recommend this place!!

We've been sitting here for over an hour and we've been told several times that food is coming soon. And then you hear something like this: "If you want to go, you can go." Miserable service.

You are constantly told that the food will come in 10 minutes. After the 4x we got up and left. The service snobbishly says to us, "Yes, you can leave if you want." Ciao!

Unser Besuch in diesem Restaurant war leider enttäuschend. Bereits bei der Ankunft wurden wir nicht begrüßt und mussten selbst einen Mitarbeiter ansprechen, um einen Tisch zu bekommen. Der Service war unaufmerksam und wir fühlten uns mehrfach ignoriert. Als wir schließlich einen Platz zugewiesen bekamen, war der Umgangston des Personals alles andere als freundlich. Wir wurden dann wegen fehlender Reservierung rausgeworfen, durften unser Glas vor der Tür im Regen austrinken. Nach uns kamen weitere Gäste, die nach einem freien Platz fragten und bekamen noch einen Tisch ???!!! Das Essen war in Ordnung, aber der Geschmack konnte die schlechte Erfahrung mit dem Service nicht wettmachen. Insgesamt haben wir uns dort nicht willkommen gefühlt und werden dieses Restaurant wahrscheinlich nicht erneut besuchen. Ein freundlicherer Service würde hier viel verbessern.

In the restaurant you can order food and drinks directly at the table using a QR code. This means you pay directly when you order. After we ordered and had already been debited, we waited 20 minutes for the drinks and they even forgot one, which I picked up myself at the bar after 30 minutes. It took a whole 60 minutes for the pizza to arrive. Normally I would have left the restaurant long ago, but since we had already paid, that wasn't an option. It would have been nice to get some information that it was taking a long time.
