Today wasn't our first time there. There were two women behind the counter today. From the start, the shorter woman was very rude and overly aggressive. She seemed to be exaggerating her Berlin accent. After we canceled our order after 40 minutes, she was completely unprofessional. It's a shame, as we've always received a warm welcome there before. It seems the staff's unfriendliness today was due to them. We'll try again when these women aren't working. Many guests were turned away because of reservations, even though the tables had been empty for over an hour. There was still plenty of space at the counter; we've seen the place packed before. We get the feeling the waitresses were overwhelmed. We work in the restaurant industry ourselves, so we think we're qualified to make this judgment. Besides, with other staff at this establishment, the service has always been friendly and efficient.

Very cozy, good service, friendly and cheerful owners. It's fun here! The food is extremely good, typical Berlin cuisine, large portions, moderate prices.

For those who want to visit here, I just want to quickly share my experience. Honestly, even though they were lazy or intended to be lazy, I was fine. But at the end, my friend wanted to pay, saying I would like to pay. And one Keller just brought the bill. He explained we would like to pay in splits. And he argued, "You can't pay in splits!" Wow! The worker should have asked first whether you want to pay in splits or together, isn't it? Anyway, fine, then I just wanted to say "Ciao," and the other lazy Kellerin said "no Ciao" 😅. Tja! What can I do more? If you feel uncomfortable or even worse, there are other options in Berlin. Please visit other places. Vielen Dank! And Ciao 😉 Six Koreans visited. They didn't greet me properly from the moment I entered, and this was the worst. I've been living in Berlin for three years, and this is the worst. Go somewhere else. There are many good places.

I'd never usually stop in Mitte for food & drink, but when caught in the rain with friends, we took a very fortunate shelter at Treffpunkt. Great German atmosphere for beer, conversation, more beer & a wonderful Schweinshaxe. I'll be back for more.

Traditional Berlin "pub", friendly service and delicious food!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but the service here was so appallingly rude and deserves to be called out. We actually had a decent meal that we really enjoyed. This was not our first time here — my partner has been around five times before — so we were genuinely excited to return. Unfortunately, the way we were treated when it came time to pay completely destroyed the experience. We will no longer be back. When settling our bill, I pulled out a metal American Airlines credit card. I am not American though (where tipping is expected upward of 20%); I am actually Australian/German, unbeknown to our waitress, I am also fluent in German. I happened to be speaking English this evening though with my partner in my Australian accent. It was obvious I was immediately targeted as a “foreigner.” The waitress told me twice that “tips are not included” and even pointed to the text printed at the bottom of the check that says “tip not included.” Instead of respecting the German custom — where tipping is voluntary and left to the guest — she demanded a tip outright. Nevertheless, I offered one. She sneered and mocked my tip, saying it was really bad. Before I could even respond, she threw my credit card and receipt back at me and walked away. I have never had my credit card literally thrown back at me. I was fully prepared to discuss the issue with her and offer more, but after having my card thrown back at me and she walked off; I am glad that she didn’t bother to take my offered tip. What makes this worse is that we have actually been served by this very same waitress multiple times before. She had always been pleasant in the past and had never once demanded a tip. The change in attitude was shocking. Perhaps I should have just spoke German and then I wouldn’t have been pre-judged? I don’t know!? Berlin is an international city, but no guest — whether German, Australian, American, or otherwise — should be pressured, shamed, or insulted over a tip. Gratuity is a courtesy, not an obligation. This experience was disgraceful and left a lasting negative impression.

Ancient Berlin pub, friendly service Food and drinks OK

Famous Berlin pub serving excellent German beer and food. Good value and the guy, who I assume is the owner or manager, has humourous and easy going manner. Gets busy in the evening, not surprisingly.

A typically German atmosphere, fantastic decor, friendly atmosphere, and excellent service. It might seem cramped, but it's a very pleasant place to spend time, mostly without noise. A good selection of drinks.

Restaurant/pub with a very relaxed atmosphere: people joke, laugh, and eat to the sound of popular German music playing on a nice jukebox, with a mixed clientele of locals and tourists. "If it's too loud, you're in the wrong place," warns a sign at the entrance. The room isn't very big and is partly occupied by a huge bar around which you can sit. The food is traditional, generous, and not very refined—exactly what you're looking for in this kind of establishment. A recommended Berlin stop!

This is the second time I've been here with friends because the first time was so nice. And the same staff again – that says a lot about the quality of this restaurant. The waiters are very funny with their Berlin charm, the food is also typically Berlin, and overall, it's a great dining experience with a jukebox flair and pub atmosphere. Zille would have loved it.

Very good German food! Only downside was that food came rather late and the terrace was right next to the cars on the street, but otherwise everything was great and I really recommend it!

Unfortunately, the service was very unfriendly. First, we were ignored at the door and then they started arguing about whether we really had a reservation. Very unpleasant for everyone involved. However, we were surprised by the really good food and the other waitresses, who remained pleasant and friendly despite the restaurant being very busy.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, when we didn't get a table outside, when one opened up, they offered us to sit there. Great music, the food was very good (the portion could be a bit bigger for the price)

A place with a wonderful, traditional Berlin atmosphere. Excellent food, all typical local specialties, and delicious beers. Friendly and truly pleasant staff who even spoke a few words of Italian. Most expensive drinks in Berlin! We were charged €14 for a G&T which consisted of a tiny splash of gin atop 1 ice cube, alongside a bottle of tonic. The servers were rude to us and all other non-Germans who came in. One of the 4 items in the vegetarian section of the menu was chicken. Worst experience in our week in the city.

Amazing place: authentic, warm, good food, so welcoming it makes you feel at home, an oasis in the middle of the December cold. We returned several times during our vacation, and if I were to return to Berlin, I'd know exactly where to go for dinner ❤️

They didn't have a knuckle... they did have a typical set, at 9 p.m.

I came here specifically for the crispy pork knuckle, but unfortunately, the experience was a big letdown. I clearly ordered the crispy version, but the waitress brought out what seemed like a steamed pork knuckle — soft skin, no crunch, completely missing the mark. When I pointed it out, there was no effort to correct the order or offer a solution. Service was inattentive and dismissive. If you’re looking for authentic German food done right, especially crispy pork knuckle, I’d suggest going elsewhere. Very disappointing.

We have been visiting this restaurant sporadically for many years. A reservation is urgently required. The crowd is a mix of tourists and regulars of all ages. The service is attentive, the drinks are at the right temperature and the food is also okay. I would describe the kitchen as “Berlin Rustic”. We always enjoy coming here.

Came here for drinks, didn’t disappoint. Very reasonably priced, had a couple beers. Divine. Friends had glasses of house white wine and enjoyed. Felt welcomed. Lovely staff. Would’ve loved to stay for hours. Didn’t have any food but saw some customers eating and looked nice. We just walked in but i recommend booking.

The drinks were ok. The dish (lentil soup) I could not recommend, because the soup itself tasted warm water with spices. The service behind the bar was friendly but insisted the new guests, to give old drinks and dishes from the tables of the guests before.

I had to sit at a counter when I got there but as a table became available and I asked her if I could sit there she quickly cleaned the table for me. She made a good recommendation on beer. And the pork knuckle was worth the wait. I've had it in a few different places including Munich and Warsaw. But it was really good. Enjoyed my evening.

Cozy Berlin pub that, despite its location, has retained the charm of an original Berlin pub. The good old Schultheiss is of course served here. The dishes are down-to-earth and very tasty. Service absolutely perfect. Fast, attentive and always a saying that creates a great atmosphere. Highly recommended. Traveling by public transport is recommended. Price/performance ratio fits.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! As soon as we entered we were greeted with a splendid and authentic smile: people who were happy to let us try their cuisine and who did not want to disappoint our expectations. The place is spectacular, historic and a stone's throw from the center. It is small and for this reason we recommend booking, it is historic and frequented by Germans, which led us to choose it as a restaurant. The food was very good and we had the shank, their schnitzel and the strudel. Excellent beers, excellent service and a very honest bill!

To be honest, I only ended up in this restaurant because of the good reviews and I have to say we were extremely impressed. This restaurant really has a Berlin flair and all of us ate and the food was delicious. The Berliner Weisse is particularly recommended. We'll definitely be back. Dogs are also allowed, but the dining room is very tight.
