Trattoria Momo in Bochum

Today was our first visit to the Momo restaurant. I personally found the reception in the restaurant a bit "different"; the employee was sitting in a corner behind a desk with a laptop (which seemed somewhat odd to me). Once she found our reservation, we were shown to our table. We sat in a kind of winter garden, but unfortunately, it was quite drafty at times, and the table wobbled. The ambiance in the winter garden was moderate. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special either (wooden tables and stone tiles like you'd find in an outdoor area; I suppose you could put up the "roof" and sit outside in nice weather). The staff was friendly, and the food and drinks arrived promptly. The dishes were all delicious and appetizingly presented. My only criticism of the food... there was far too much truffle oil in the Linguine al Tartufo for me. Value for money: you get truly unusual and different dishes, not your usual pizzeria fare, but the dishes do have their price tag. The wine list is more extensive than the menu and the prices are also higher.

Despite having a reservation, we were turned away during a musical. Unfortunately, I've never experienced anything like that before.

This was our first time in Bochum, and we went to Momo. The best pizza I've ever eaten! Absolutely delicious! My husband (a trained chef) was also very satisfied! The dishes were a bit on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it! 100% recommended!

It may be the best Italian restaurant in the Ruhr area, but I still can't understand the prices. The food was excellent and the service very friendly, but I can't understand the prices at all. Since I enjoy cooking at a high price, I can't agree with the prices at all. €13.50 for a Margherita pizza and a chicken salad for €19.90, when I assume that 400 percent of the ingredients in restaurants come from purchased ingredients, is too much in my opinion. Margherita, as I learned from Italy's past, represented by tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil, is the color of Italy. I couldn't tell that from the product my daughter ate, but that's just my opinion. Bottled beer and small glasses of wine are also expensive. The place is doing well, the people are happy, I think the price level isn't good enough yet.

Very good offer, delicious food

We were in Bochum to see the musical Starlight Express. Since it was a long journey from Berlin and our stomachs were empty, we were looking for a nice and, above all, good restaurant. Trattoria Momo is very close, the staff was cheerful, courteous, and very attentive, and the food (Pizza Parma, Pizza Sami, and a large mixed herb salad) was simply fantastic. A great experience, absolutely worth the money (even if a bit on the upscale side). Thanks and best wishes from the now-satiated Berliners.

We spontaneously went to Momo on a Saturday evening and were absolutely thrilled. Even though the place was packed, we waited relatively "shortly." We were politely asked what they could do for us, and the waiter wasn't bothered that we didn't have a reservation. We were taken to the "waiting area," where we were immediately offered drinks and an ashtray. After about five minutes, we were shown to our seats, where we were immediately given drinks, fresh, homemade bread, and an absolutely delicious spread. Of course, it took a while for the drinks and food to arrive, but it was absolutely fine on a Saturday evening in a crowded place. The food itself was also good; I had the carbonara, which was solid, but I've had better. The pizza not only looked good, it also tasted great. All in all, I'll stop by again and try the rest of the items on the menu. The desserts were world-class and I can highly recommend them. The ambiance is world-class. I can't even describe it, but it's fitting, and I felt incredibly comfortable. The price isn't exactly cheap, given the restaurant's popularity and the sheer number of people who come to visit. We paid around €60 per person, which is definitely in the upper range. For me, it's a solid Italian restaurant with excellent service that's worth visiting for special occasions. Thank you for the lovely evening, and a huge thank you to the friendly waiter, who was truly polite, courteous, and attentive.

High quality, courteous staff Price is high but justified

We spontaneously reserved a table and received a very friendly welcome. The friendly waitress took excellent care of us and always had a friendly smile. Our food arrived in a reasonable time and was very tasty. 👍 The bread basket with aioli was also great. The price-performance ratio was also absolutely perfect. We'll be happy to come back on our next visit to Bochum.

Very tasty, very friendly staff..

One of the best Italian restaurants in the Ruhr area. A fantastic, extensive and authentic menu with classic and innovative Italian dishes. The pasta, meat, and fish are excellent, but we often order the sensational pizza. The prices are high, but reasonable given the quality of the ingredients and the food. The service is uncomplicated and extremely friendly. We've eaten there several times and will, of course, return.

We were here with a larger group and had a really lovely evening. You should make a reservation in advance, as the restaurant was completely full on a Tuesday – that really speaks volumes about the place. The prices are high, but the food was really very good! The service was excellent (sometimes a bit slow, but that wasn't a big deal, as the staff were very friendly and it was really busy). I had a little bad luck with my dish, and when I mentioned it to the waiter, the dish was immediately taken away and made again without any discussion. A member of staff (or manager?) even came to the table, apologized, and explained that it would take about five minutes and that I could have a free coffee or dessert afterward. I've rarely experienced such a friendly approach to "criticism"; it was truly very pleasant. We'll definitely be back.

Overall, I liked Trattoria Momo. The ambiance is very harmonious and inviting. I would particularly like to highlight the service – extremely friendly and attentive. The food was tasty and solid, although not exceptional. The portions could have been a bit larger for my taste, especially considering the price. Nevertheless, it was a successful visit.

Our hotel recommended this restaurant to us. We had pizza and salad, and the pizza was absolutely amazing! The salad was also good; I would definitely recommend it. The waitress was super nice, but she smelled a bit unpleasant. The ambiance is nice.

After my first impression from the reviews and the overall impression of the restaurant, I was quickly disappointed. A glance at the menu revealed creative ideas from the kitchen, which demand commensurate prices. I paid €26 for my pasta with lamb (which was very reminiscent of goulash). It wasn't bad, the portion was just about enough for one woman, but at that price, I can see it as a no-go when the supposedly homemade pasta sticks together and you end up with lumps of dough on your plate. The evening really got disappointing, however, starting with dessert: The waiter, who immediately warned us to only bring it if we actually ordered something, as otherwise he would have been wasting his time—surely just a joke, but one that didn't sell well—refused to recommend anything from the menu, since everything was good, after all, and I wouldn't have what he suggested anyway. My cheesecake cream, which I then chose on my own, was very reminiscent of flavored cream with a few dry and broken ladyfingers. Unfortunately, the decorative berries didn't make up for it. Big sorry, but you really should take that off the menu.

Great little restaurant with delicious food and friendly service

In my opinion, the price/performance ratio isn't right. The craftsmanship is certainly good, but I expected more from a spaghetti carbonara for around €25...

Delicious food, but not a particularly relaxed atmosphere.

We were thrilled: great service, a great atmosphere, and wonderful food! If we didn't live over 600 km away, this would be our regular. From the sourdough bread with olive oil, a small mixed salad that was very fresh and fruity and beautifully decorated, to the gigantic Pizza Gourmet with added Italian ham, the Pizza Allegra with added Italian salami was an absolute hit. The service staff were excellent; everyone was friendly and very accommodating. When we're back, we'll definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

We visited Trattoria Momo before Starlight Express. We think it's a good place to eat there before seeing a musical, as the restaurant is within walking distance of the musical theater. The food is solid, all Italian classics are represented on the menu. What is particularly noteworthy is that all dishes can also be offered as children's portions. The service is very friendly and experienced. Sometimes it could have been a little quicker. The atmosphere is contemporary, modern and cozy. Unfortunately, the dessert menu didn't really have a selection for children. Overall, we think it's a nice Italian restaurant that offers classic, well-made Italian food. If we're nearby, we'd love to come back.

The antipasti was way too greasy. And the noodles didn't taste good and/or were too salty. Only the pizzas were okay - although a large shot of olive oil was "poured" over a pesto pizza with burrata. Which, firstly, didn't fit and secondly, it was really greasy. Only the ambience and service were quite good.

Pizza and pasta are great and also for upscale everyday life. But the more elaborate dishes such as lamb ragout, rabbit ragout or fish are the reason for a very satisfying special visit. The staff is courteous, advises and helps with the choice of food, the order of the food and the sharing for friends and couples.

An amazing kitchen. We were a bit “starved” after a long car ride and spontaneously went to MoMo without knowing what to expect. The ambience is modern and beautiful. We had to wait a bit because the basement was alone. Despite the full house, he was super personable and friendly. The food was amazing. My husbands had pizza and I had linguine with truffles. It was a taste exposure for all of us. The pizza dough is delicious, airy - simply perfect. And the linguini were also perfectly al dente. It was a poem. 100 stars - if I could. I'm looking forward to the next visit

We were there before going to the Starlight Express Musical. We can only recommend the restaurant to a limited extent for the following reasons: 1. the starters were really good nothing to complain about. 2. As a main course we had spaghetti tardizionale carbonara and gnocchi with rabbit ragùe. And here we have to deduct a point because the carbonara was not traditional at all. This was too creamy (no egg and no Parma cheese according to my taste), the pasta was too yellowish and not al dente and we don't need to talk about the bacon. The ragùe was i. Oh, and it tasted good too. 3. We both really liked the tiramisu and was a perfect end to the visit The drinks were very good, we can recommend the Limoncelo Spritz. Let's come to the price: in our opinion it is not justified at all! We ate better at other Italian restaurants and, above all, according to the price. Reservation in advance is recommended. Conclusion: An Italian where there is still room for improvement and with pasta dishes from 20 € upwards I expect al dente and really traditional.

My pizza was very burnt on the edge. After sprinkling some salt and pepper over the pizza, it was delicious. It was sparingly occupied, even though the price was very high. The service was attentive, but unfortunately quite cold. The right hand was often used to wipe the nose and then the food was served with it. Very unhygienic.

We were there for the first time last night and will definitely be back. The food, both pizza and pasta, was extremely tasty, the waiting time and prices were absolutely reasonable and we especially enjoyed the drinks (especially the wine). The absolute highlight of the evening was our service. Julien greeted and welcomed us very friendly right from the start and was super personable throughout the evening. He managed to arouse our curiosity about drinks and food without seeming at all intrusive. A really, really great employee! Big compliment and again a huge thank you and kindest regards! We are already looking forward to the next visit :)

Top food, top wine, top service

Super nice and attentive service and we ate delicious pizzas. The dessert (tiramisu) was also very tasty. The restaurant is very familiar. We were in Bochum to go to the Greek singer Makropoulos' club concert at Rouge. If we are in Bochum again, we will come back.

The staff was super friendly. The vegan Bolognese 🍝 is also very tasty. The pizzas I saw looked really good. When it came to dessert, I was a bit disappointed that there was a frozen strawberry 🍓 on the dessert for this rather high-priced restaurant.

I can highly recommend Trattoria Momo! We dined there yesterday with 10 people. The food was extremely tasty. My pizza was heavenly. We got the food at the same time and had a very attentive waiter. Mehmet read all of our wishes from our eyes 🥰 Since we ate the food straight away, there are no photos 😊 Aaand the highlight was the homemade pistachio ice cream.. Divine! We also can't understand the hype surrounding this restaurant. The fact that there are almost no free parking spaces nearby in the evenings cannot be attributed to the restaurant, but it is still good to know. The salads were appetizingly prepared, tasty and reasonably priced. The tortellini stuffed with duck breast for €24.50 might have been considered a starter, but nobody gets full from 8 tortellini. In addition, they were too cold and the dough was too raw and hard (on our advice there was a drink on the house, which was fair). For 6 people, 6 small pieces of bread and a garlic dip, which was just enough for 2 small pieces of bread, were served as a "greeting from the kitchen". But when asked, there was a second helping. The pizzas were sparsely topped and also too cold. We liked the atmosphere overall, the service was friendly and accommodating, if a bit "clumsy". A look into the kitchen is not recommended because it looked unclean. We also noticed video cameras that, according to the manager, only come into operation when the restaurant is closed. We expressed concerns because the cameras are mounted at an angle that they could, for example, record credit cards during the payment process. Overall, we wouldn't recommend the restaurant.

After visiting StarlightExpress we went to Trattoria Momo. We were greeted very friendly. The atmosphere is very nice. Our waiter Sebastian was extremely friendly, very accommodating and attentive. As do the other employees. The pizza we had was very tasty. A visit there is definitely worth it. This will be our first choice the next time we visit Bochum.

We now come here once a month and are thrilled every time! We try different starters, main courses and desserts every time - and everything is simply delicious and of absolute top quality. The ingredients are fresh, the dishes prepared with a lot of love and the taste is simply outstanding. I would particularly like to highlight the service staff: all the waiters are incredibly warm, attentive and just lovely. You feel welcome and well looked after from the first moment. A restaurant that we can really recommend without reservation - everything is just right here! We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Full 5 stars and would like one more as a bonus. From the service to the great atmosphere to the incredibly good food on a regularly changing menu with modern cuisine, everything is perfect here. No pasta drowned in cream or anything like that, if you want that, you're unfortunately in the wrong place. We had a lovely evening that we were able to enjoy with all our senses. Discovered by chance a few years ago in the old location opposite, we are now absolute fans and always enjoy coming. Reservations are essential, you should take time to enjoy and get involved in the atmosphere (and try the tiramisu at the end!) See you next time

We were there with several people. The sourdough bread was absolutely delicious, so we pre-ordered it from the local bakery the next day. My pizza was great too. Just the right size and the edge wasn't dry either. The price of the other dishes was a bit high, but it wasn't run of the mill either. The waiter was very friendly and accommodating. He showed alternatives to food and fulfilled our every special request. We were in the back and it was cozy. In any case, a reservation is necessary, especially if you want to eat there before the Starlight Express.

Hard wooden chairs with no cushion. Flair of a covered outdoor area. Pizza ok, but knives don't cut. Starter carelessly prepared. We consider guests to be on a first-name basis as inappropriate. The good reviews are incomprehensible to us.
