A very nice restaurant. Very friendly staff and delicious food. If I'm ever in Bochum again, I'll definitely come back here.

We arrived without a reservation on a concert night at the nearby RuhrCongress. They made room for us anyway! The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. It was busy, crowded, and hectic, but we enjoyed a great meal for a good price.

It tasted good, but I would recommend making a reservation.

My colleague had a pizza and I had a carbonara. The carbonara had a very bland flavor... With regular ham... The pizza looked very much like frozen dough with extra ingredients on top...but the pizza tasted okay.

Very friendly staff. The ambiance was classic Italian and sophisticated. Very good cappuccino, very good vitello. The pizza was fresh, but we didn't like the texture of the base; the crust, in particular, was unfortunately much too hard.

I tried to reserve a table by email 14 days in advance and asked for confirmation – received no response. I sent another email 4 days in advance – no response. I tried calling 2 days in advance – but the answer was no answer. I sent another email asking for confirmation. Then I received a succinct reply saying there were no tables available. I find this very unfriendly to customers. Therefore, I can't comment on the food.

One of the few restaurants that is open quite late! Atmospheric, tasty, comfortable! Very kind and friendly staff! It is very pleasant to look at the serving and very, very tasty! And in addition - quite reasonable prices. I recommend!

Delicious, large selection, friendly, fast, and professional staff. I'd be happy to go again. Small caveat: don't necessarily visit during a VfL home game. I'd be happy to go again!

Simply unfriendly: We politely asked if there was room for two. The receptionist replied: "No." And then he turned away again while answering. What a pity.

The restaurant is fully booked, and we only have 40 minutes. The lively capocameriere says "No problem," and five minutes later, the delicious meal is on the table. We'd be happy to come back.

We have visited Carmello over 2 years ago and we still think about it as one of the best restaurants we ever visited. We have ordered pizzas, which quickly became our top ever eaten pizzas. As we later discovered even visiting Italy couldn't dethrone Carmello's pizza from the first place. The house wine was delicious as was sorbet with limoncello. The serving portions were big and we were happy that we have hotel nearby after seeing the glasses. The staff was very friendly despite some minor issues with language (not every server was speaking English). We felt taken care of as guests from the start to the very end of our visit. We would highly recommend visiting Carmelo and trying it for yourself. The Bochum isn't very high on our travel list but we know that if the opportunity arrive we would return to Caramelo as fast as we could. I would rate it 100000/5 but the Google don't let me :)

We had a very pleasant evening. I highly recommend the restaurant. Reservations are recommended on weekends. A pizza base that resists cutting is something else entirely... It could be much better. The service was very friendly, and the atmosphere was OK. The menu features many dishes accompanied by creamy sauces. You can do it, but you don't have to. I don't plan on returning, but I must say that a lot of people ate there—and I had the feeling they enjoyed it too. It's perfectly fine; everyone has their own taste.

After the musical (just before closing time), I spontaneously stopped by and got something to eat, even though the kitchen was practically closing. The best GF penne Boscaiola ever! It was truly delicious! A million thanks to the friendly chef who prepared it especially and to the very friendly staff. 💖 (GF pizza only available by pre-order)

The older waitress (owner?) was very unfriendly. The younger waitress was much friendlier. Unfortunately, he only greeted us, and then the older one took over. The food was quite good. It was plentiful and delicious. The ambiance was also good, but as I said, the older waitress spoiled it a bit. It's a shame.

A long day at Carmelo? No problem for the team. They only served pizza in the evening because the kitchen was already closing, but that's forgiven. The service was excellent. The pizzas were delicious, and everyone was very friendly after a long day at work. Thank you for rounding off a very enjoyable day!

We received a warm welcome at Carmelo and were seated right away, even without a reservation. The service was good, as was the wait. Unfortunately, the pasta was far too underseasoned for our taste. Otherwise, we were very satisfied.

The two of us were here for dinner on March 15, 2025, after our visit to the Starlight Express. We received a very warm welcome and the service was great for the rest of the evening. The food tasted great (the wine too). We had pizza pavarotti, pizza boscaiola and a tiramisu, there was nothing wrong with it. Although a group of around 20 people were there for dinner, everything was really great. We'd love to come back!!!

We were there on Saturday at 5 p.m. without a reservation and got a table, but I would generally recommend a reservation because the restaurant was busy and we were very lucky to get a table! So we were able to enjoy delicious Italian cuisine before going to the musical, the service and the ambience were perfect, everything was perfect here, good value for money. We can absolutely recommend the restaurant!

A wonderful restaurant. From an Italian welcome, to a bruschetta for everyone on the house, to the really friendly service, everything was just right here. Unfortunately we didn't make a reservation (explicitly recommended here) and tried to take a chance, but they could assign us a table if an hour and a half wasn't a problem for us. That wasn't it and so we had an excellent meal. The food is more than recommended. The pizza was very tasty and well topped and the pasta was not to be sniffed at either. Luckily we stayed and were able to enjoy a very, very tasty dinner. If we are in Bochum again, we will stop there again, only this time with a reservation. Very good 👍

We ate at this restaurant before the football game today. Everything was wonderful. The service was great, the food tasted really good. As a greeting from the kitchen there was bruschetta. Price-performance ratio is great. It's a shame we don't live nearby, but we'll be back!

A weekend with a wonderful ending at the Pizzeria Carmelo in Bochum! After a disappointed football game in Bochum, we spontaneously looked for a pizzeria online that evening and found it! The food for all 8 people was extremely good, the staff was very friendly and everything went smoothly! I can only highly recommend it and if I come to Bochum again I will definitely visit this pizzeria! Thanks to you👌🤩

Restaurant to recommend to all people visiting Bochum. A splendid Sicilian family who does their job with all the passion and friendliness that is needed in gastronomy. I haven't been from Sicily for 23 years. Last night I suddenly found myself back on the island thanks to Mr. Carmelo and his Team, who treated us like relatives. Thank you from me and my family.

Everything was exquisite and the attention was wonderful.

The 5 of us had dinner before the musical. The food (various pasta and salad) was almost all great 😋. Unfortunately, only the two spaghetti frutti di mare left something to be desired. The taste was good but unfortunately the deposits were only frozen and not of the highest quality. Some mussels or squid would have been nice. But everything else about the food was great.

We can only agree with the previous speakers, THAT is really a gem that is hidden here. Very friendly staff, great service, not forgetting the food! Personally, I haven't enjoyed Italian cuisine as good as I did here in a long time! As an antipasta we enjoyed lamb carpaccio - truly a delight 🥲🥲🥲. Ate truffles for the first time in my life with tagliatelle and cream sauce. The pizza was also a pure culinary delight. And at the end there was grappa... And as we left, "Nonna" waved friendly from the kitchen. Really feel-good atmosphere 🫶🫶. Thanks for the great evening!

We went to the musical in the afternoon and wanted to go out for dinner afterwards. Restaurant is a 10 minute walk from the musical, but there is also on-site parking. We went without a reservation and were warmly welcomed. Very nice and clean restaurant, very friendly. Food very tasty.

We were there on October 2nd, 2024 after the musical Starlight Express. Service very nice, pizza and meat dishes 😋😋😋 Personally, I am very happy to recommend it.

Wir haben im angrenzenden Hotel Excelsior übernachtet und uns direkt einen Tisch um 17 Uhr reservieren lassen, da wir im Anschluss zu einer Veranstaltung wollten. Zum Glück, denn das Restaurant ist bereits ab 17.30 Uhr gut besucht. Auf dem Tisch stand eine frische Rose und eine Kerze, was wir sehr schön fanden. Zu Beginn gab es 2 Bruschetta vom Haus. Der Service war sehr freundlich und herzlich. Das Essen hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Preis- Leistungsverhältnis ist wirklich sehr gut. Eine große Portion Spaghetti aglio, olio mit großen Gambas für 17,50 € und eine große Portion schwarze Tagliolini mit Lachs und Zucchini ebenfalls für 17,50 €. Zum Abschluss hatten wir die Zabaione, die wirklich Weltklasse war. Zum Abschluss ein richtig guter Espresso für 2 Euro. Uns hat der Aufenthalt sehr gut gefallen.

The food is very good. The service too. The ambience is actually very good too. Since my husband is walking and has severe visual impairment, it is not possible to get into the restaurant with a wheelchair because the tables are on a platform with a high step to sit on. Of course you could also sit outside on the ground-level terrace. But depending on the weather, this isn't ideal. And it's more rustic outside than inside. But we will still go back. We have already reserved a table. Instead of a wheelchair with a walker and walking aids. Simply because the food there is so good.

Fine Fine Fine! We are demanding, especially when it comes to Italian food. When it comes to Carmelo, don't let the situation deceive you. There's a gem hidden here, a little Italian place with a great atmosphere, very friendly staff/service and super delicious food. We felt very comfortable and ate great. The service is professional and has a friendly calm about it. We say thank you and regret that we don't live nearby, otherwise we would have a new regular restaurant. Keep it up!

Beautiful, light, friendly rooms, also in a separate room for special occasions and larger groups. Very good Italian and international cuisine, lovingly cooked, varied and imaginative, good prices. Own parking spaces and always enough spaces in the area. Very good friendly service. Do you want more? Absolutely not. Highly recommended.

Wir waren für einen Musicalbesuch in Bochum und wollten vor der Vorstellung noch etwas essen. Das Restaurant liegt direkt beim Hotel Excelsior in welchem wir übernachtet haben. Das Essen war sehr lecker und unsere Sorgen, dass es zeitlich knapp werden könnte mit dem Beginn des Musicals waren völlig unbegründet. Es ging sehr schnell und wie gesagt, sehr lecker. Das Restaurant ist sehr gepflegt und das Personal sehr nett.
