We can only agree with the previous speakers, THAT is really a gem that is hidden here. Very friendly staff, great service, not forgetting the food! Personally, I haven't enjoyed Italian cuisine as good as I did here in a long time! As an antipasta we enjoyed lamb carpaccio - truly a delight 🥲🥲🥲. Ate truffles for the first time in my life with tagliatelle and cream sauce. The pizza was also a pure culinary delight. And at the end there was grappa... And as we left, "Nonna" waved friendly from the kitchen. Really feel-good atmosphere 🫶🫶. Thanks for the great evening!

We went to the musical in the afternoon and wanted to go out for dinner afterwards. Restaurant is a 10 minute walk from the musical, but there is also on-site parking. We went without a reservation and were warmly welcomed. Very nice and clean restaurant, very friendly. Food very tasty.

We were there for the first time today. There is no wish left. Everything is just great. You will be welcomed with a smile. Food super delicious 😋 A visit is worth it. Fresh ingredients cooked with love. We were happy and satisfied... Stay as you are.

Wir haben im angrenzenden Hotel Excelsior übernachtet und uns direkt einen Tisch um 17 Uhr reservieren lassen, da wir im Anschluss zu einer Veranstaltung wollten. Zum Glück, denn das Restaurant ist bereits ab 17.30 Uhr gut besucht. Auf dem Tisch stand eine frische Rose und eine Kerze, was wir sehr schön fanden. Zu Beginn gab es 2 Bruschetta vom Haus. Der Service war sehr freundlich und herzlich. Das Essen hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Preis- Leistungsverhältnis ist wirklich sehr gut. Eine große Portion Spaghetti aglio, olio mit großen Gambas für 17,50 € und eine große Portion schwarze Tagliolini mit Lachs und Zucchini ebenfalls für 17,50 €. Zum Abschluss hatten wir die Zabaione, die wirklich Weltklasse war. Zum Abschluss ein richtig guter Espresso für 2 Euro. Uns hat der Aufenthalt sehr gut gefallen.

The food is very good. The service too. The ambience is actually very good too. Since my husband is walking and has severe visual impairment, it is not possible to get into the restaurant with a wheelchair because the tables are on a platform with a high step to sit on. Of course you could also sit outside on the ground-level terrace. But depending on the weather, this isn't ideal. And it's more rustic outside than inside. But we will still go back. We have already reserved a table. Instead of a wheelchair with a walker and walking aids. Simply because the food there is so good.

There's a gem hidden here, a little Italian place with a great atmosphere, very friendly staff/service and super delicious food. We felt very comfortable and ate great. The service is professional and has a friendly calm about it. We say thank you and regret that we don't live nearby, otherwise we would have a new regular restaurant. Keep it up!

Wir waren für einen Musicalbesuch in Bochum und wollten vor der Vorstellung noch etwas essen. Das Restaurant liegt direkt beim Hotel Excelsior in welchem wir übernachtet haben. Das Essen war sehr lecker und unsere Sorgen, dass es zeitlich knapp werden könnte mit dem Beginn des Musicals waren völlig unbegründet. Es ging sehr schnell und wie gesagt, sehr lecker. Das Restaurant ist sehr gepflegt und das Personal sehr nett.

We came here without a reservation on Saturday evening with 3 people. The restaurant was full, but there were some changes in the schedule and we still got a table. The food was really delicious! The bruschetta that we received in advance (on the house) was also delicious. The desserts were also to die for. The staff was very friendly, cheerful and running very fast. The restaurant is somewhat hidden but it is definitely recommended. If we are in Bochum again, we will definitely eat here again.

I almost don't dare write about how good and tasty it is here, because then more people might come up with the idea of ​​reserving a table here! We have been regular guests at Carmelo for many years. The food is always excellent (and by that I don't just mean pizza and pasta, but also starters, fish, meat and dessert!), the service is impeccable and super nice! Our mentally handicapped son is always particularly well addressed here. We have also celebrated a few smaller family celebrations and have always been thrilled! So, now I hope that we will still find a free table here in the future ;)

There was a little greeting from the kitchen in advance: bruschetta and small rolls with herb butter. For starters there was lettuce and tomato with mozzarella. For the main course, pizza and pasta with scampi. For dessert we ordered tiramisu and panna cotta. The waiting times were very short, the food was very tasty. What should be highlighted is the friendly service from the employees. We really liked that. It's only a few minutes' walk from the Musical Starlight Express to the Carmelo restaurant and that's why we can confidently recommend this location if you want a delicious Italian meal before or after. Regardless of the food and ambience (which unfortunately didn't happen), here is my review of this restaurant. For our long weekend in Bochum we had booked the hotel next door and tried several times by phone (during opening hours but also at other times of the day) and by email to book a table for two people for Saturday. Unfortunately, no one answered the phone there and emails didn't seem to be answered for days. On Saturday we were informed that the restaurant was completely booked and we couldn't get a table. When an employee asked us that we had been trying to reach someone all week, it ended with the boss appearing completely overwhelmed and helpless, explaining whether I didn't know that the restaurant was close to the stadium and that's why everything full. When I asked why no one was processing any reservations, I was asked to leave the restaurant. So no offense, I can't make a recommendation based on this experience. Such behavior simply does not fit the times.

How do you recognize a good Italian restaurant: Italians eat there and that was the case at Carmelo. The food was very good. The pizzas had plenty of toppings and in my salad there was more tuna, shrimp and ham and cheese rolls than salad!

Hungry from visiting the Bochum Planetarium, we visited Ristorante Carmelo yesterday evening. Due to the surprisingly good reviews, we were full of anticipation, but unfortunately we were disappointed, at least from a culinary point of view. The PENNE AL FORNO (62) was relatively bland in taste. The gratinating was done almost without cheese, the egg included was limited to four very thinly sliced ​​slices and the "chopped sauce" contained almost no minced meat. The promised cooked ham was so small and thinly sliced ​​that it could hardly contribute to the taste of the dish. For dessert we ordered tiramisu. Unfortunately, that was the worst tiramisu we have ever eaten at an 'Italian'. There was hardly any mascarpone in it, but instead it was a watery cream. The sponge cake was soaked in water instead of an amaretto mixture. All in all, a culinary failure that we won't repeat there! If you are unable to serve adequate food at the asking price, then you either have to raise the prices or alienate your guests by skimping on the dishes based on the ingredients. This first and last performance was not worthy of a ristorante.

We decided to visit this restaurant based on the reviews and were quite disappointed. The service was quick, so fast that you were barely at the table, not yet seated, but you were already given the cards. This one is quite taciturn and not particularly friendly. The ambience is not appealing and is very reminiscent of a canteen. Very bright, very loud. All I can say about the food is that the price-performance ratio wasn't right. In terms of taste, the filled noodles with spinach were very bland and, in my opinion, not homemade, but probably frozen goods, Knofi nil. Only the pizza tomato sauce on top was tasty. For this price I expect more than an appetizer portion. Very unfortunate!

Das Essen ist wirklich zu empfehlen. Wir hatten Penne Gorgonzola und Cannelloni und als Nachtisch Tiramisu, alles wirklich top. Wir haben selten so gut Italienisch gegessen. 2 Gläser Wein und ein Espresso haben den Abend abgerundet. Das Personal ist aufmerksam und freundlich, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Einen Tisch zu reservieren ist sehr zu empfehlen, wir hatten Glück das zwischen 17 und 19 Uhr nicht so viel los war.

Wir waren dort vor einer Show im Ruhr Congress essen und können durchweg nur positives berichten. Es wurde sogar spontan noch ein Tisch für uns gedeckt da wir erst kurz vorher angerufen hatten. Am meisten gefallen hat uns das nette Personal und natürlich das leckere Essen. Die Preise waren sehr angenehm, hoffentlich bleibt es so.

Das Restaurant kocht mit viel Liebe zum Detail und authentische italienische Küche. Das Servicepersonal ist sehr zuvorkommenden aufmerksam. Das Restaurant grenzt direkt an das Hotel Excelsior in Bochum. Es öffnet um 17:30 Uhr, was toll ist, wenn man anschließend noch einen Musical Besuch plant. Die Preise sind absolut akzeptabel. Vor den ausgewählten Gerichten gab es als Gruß aus der Küche Bruscetta und Oliven. Zum Salat wurden Minibrötchen mit selbst gemachtem Kräuterbutter gereicht. Da die Preise auf der Webseite nicht mehr aktuell sind, lade ich die Rechnung hoch. Es gibt von mir eine klare Empfehlung für dieses Restaurant.
