Trattoria La Grappa in Eisenach

La Grappa is one of, if not my, favorite restaurants, and I love going there time and time again. Everything is homemade, and you can taste it best here, in my opinion—I can especially recommend the gnocci! The staff are all super friendly, and the interior design and the balcony always delight me and my companions ☺️ The only Italian restaurant where I truly feel like I can take a short vacation while eating ;) Oh, and a big compliment about the women's restrooms!! Diapers, perfume, deodorant, and everything else you need for getting ready are already available for borrowing next to the sink—I always think that the rooms should say a lot about a good restaurant, because you can see how much effort is put into serving their customers 🥰

I wanted to go out to eat with my wife and child after a long day at work. We received friendly service, but then it was a disaster for a restaurant visit: My wife and child had already finished while I had to wait 45 minutes for the pizza. First, the wrong one arrived (it was eaten at the next table), and then it took over 30 minutes for the replacement to arrive after the other food was placed at the table – so everyone was finished. I had it wrapped up right away. Of course, I was charged the full amount except for each beer, unbelievable! 65 euros for a restaurant experience worth 10 euros (two beers) for me. Very poor error management!! The pizza was cold for breakfast but still quite tasty.

This Italian restaurant has the feel of a Spanish beachside diner. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff are friendly. The interior is also surprisingly spacious.

We went there spontaneously for dinner, and the food was absolutely delicious! The pizza was beautifully fluffy! The carbonara portion size, however, wasn't very large.

Card payments weren't possible, so I had to wait five minutes for the change. The waitress came to the cashier without a wallet. The food was good, though.

It's unthinkable that a restaurant wouldn't accept card payments...in 2025 in a tourist town. Plus, we didn't eat well. It's a shame because the setting is very well done.

The food was rather lightly seasoned. But maybe that's better than too much. The staff was super friendly and, even though it was very busy, they always kept up with us. Unfortunately, people were smoking in the partially covered area. I'm not sure if that was the idea behind the smoking ban in restaurants. Otherwise, a nice location.

A run-of-the-mill "Italian" restaurant. The service was attentive, but you could tell that no one there is a true restaurateur. We were there with five people and kids, each with a starter and a main course. No one was particularly impressed. You just get full. Unfortunately, card payments weren't possible; they probably use the same payment system as every kebab shop... 😇 The sign was so poorly positioned that you couldn't really see it. Definitely won't be going back.

The food was okay, but too expensive, or rather too little, for the quantity and quality. The waitress was attentive, but not really paying attention. She tried to explain that a crystal is the same as cherry juice. We laughed a lot. It's not modern that you can't pay by card. The reason for this was a bit of a mystery. 😉

Despite a prior phone reservation, the food took an extremely long time to prepare (approximately 60 minutes). The outdoor grill looks like they also prepare meat there. However, such dishes are not currently on the menu. The pizza tasted great, and our special request for two toppings was honored. The outdoor area is themed, with a terrace and partially covered seating.

The trattoria was fantastic from start to finish. We actually had reservations, but we still got a table, and the waiter was super friendly. The food came quickly and was incredibly delicious. The price was fair and reasonable. The only downside was that no debit cards were accepted; only cash. Highly recommended, definitely.

The venue and the restaurant itself are beautiful, but the pizza is terrible.

The restaurant looks nice, but there's one thing to note about the pizza: It wasn't tasty. The underside was dirty—in the sense of burnt spots—and the base of the pizza was greasy, as if it had been fried in oil. The taste was reminiscent of cheap chebureki from the train station.

The lady was very friendly, the gentleman was rather distracted and his manner was not very inviting. My spoon wasn't completely clean (but it was replaced without further question). My companion was generally shocked. The way we were "served" could have easily been the next snack bar. I don't think we'll eat here again, but it's still a nice atmosphere and the food wasn't bad either. To offer constructive criticism, I would recommend demonstrating good behavior not just with individual guests, but with everyone.

Beautifully decorated and with great attention to detail. The service is polite, unobtrusive, and very attentive. The food is delicious! We've rarely eaten so well! We'd love to come back!

Food too bad for the amount paid. The Pizzas I ordered were too salty, got the wrong salad and the pasta had nooo taste whatsoever and was hella dry. The bacon pieces on the pasta were tasty tho and the Pizza crust as well, which is the reason I gave it one star. The other star is for how fast my order was done. 10mins exact. But overall, for the 50€+ price that I paid, I don't recommend.

We ordered pizza and pasta. The phone order went smoothly, and the customer service was very pleasant. The food was generally delicious and ready for pickup very quickly. A pizza is truly filling. Some people found the crust and dough a bit too heavy. Overall, though, we were satisfied.

This was a great Italian dinner experience. Our food was excellent but our poor server appeared to be unable to keep up. We were surprised when we asked for the bill to find that it was cash only. We had just come from the bank and had some euros for the first since we landed from Canada 4 days ago. We promptly emptied our wallets and now have to find a bank machine again! We used google translate to read the menu but didn’t think that a restaurant this upscale would have been cash only so didn’t look for that signage. The parmesan wheel for tossing the pasta caught my eye on the way out (see photo) also the lovely fire!

Very attentive staff. The food was okay. The Diavolo pizza dough could have been cooked a bit hotter. It was very soggy, even though there aren't many different toppings. The flavor was really delicious, though. The scampi in the aglio pasta were also very watery. I think they could have been seared a bit better. Overall, though, the food was very good. The atmosphere was cozy and, in better weather, would have been fantastic. Our expenses didn't reflect the prices. We spent three lovely and enjoyable hours there. We would definitely come back again.

I wanted to reserve a table for four people, but was given the impression that it wasn't right and that they didn't "depend" on us... A statement like, "You'd better go somewhere else, not to us," reinforced this opinion. We've been guests here several times, but I was very disappointed here.

Despite reserving a place on the terrace by phone, we didn't get a place outside. The waiter's more than stroppy answer was that everyone outside has a reservation. Food: Food is not identical to the menu. Taste 2 of the 3 guests found it poor to mediocre, the third guest found it okay. Ambience: very nice, service: very good, what was missing was the thinking, if you wanted a place outside and one becomes available, it would be nice to be asked if you would like to take it outside and not distribute new guests there.

We ate at the restaurant based on recommendations and reviews. The restaurant looks great, very lovingly furnished. The young blonde waiter was alone in our area and therefore quite stressed. Nevertheless, he tried hard and was polite. The starter was visually very well presented and just the option of getting something other than the classic bruschetta was great. Unfortunately, the bottom of the bread was burnt and the “roasted aroma” was therefore very dominant. Too bad! Unfortunately our pizzas had different toppings. They weren't the same, but a little topping would have been nice, and extra cheese was ordered on the less topped one. The pizzas were far too greasy or oily. However, the taste is very tasty. We looked at the map online in advance. In contrast to the menu on site, the prices were all at least one euro expensive and the dishes were no longer as described as on the online menu. The Rustica with chanterelles on the online menu became a Rustica with various mushrooms on the menu and finally there was a pizza with mushrooms on the table. Disappointing, when in fact the restaurant really has potential with the selected ingredients. At least with the salami and the ham you could tell that value was placed on quality. As you normally know from an Italian, you will at least be asked if you would like a schnapps, here it was not available after your meal.

As soon as you enter the trattoria you get the feeling: this can only be good. And it was. Everything in this place is like in Italy. The ambience, the smell, the food. Only the friendliness of the service staff is better than in most Italian restaurants. In Italy it is customary to eat in several courses. So the portions here aren't too generous either. After going there 2 times and being totally disappointed with the food, my friend and I didn't want to go there again. The third time we were invited there for a birthday. I wanted to give it another chance and came there with an open mind, hoping that the chef had changed after such a long time. You can't say anything about the ambience, I always find it nice, and I didn't notice the service negatively either. The starter (quadruple bruschetta) was good, as was the pizza bread with herbs. When choosing the main course this time I stayed away from pizza, soups and pasta dumplings, which had recently disappointed me with little taste and a soggy dough base. The gnocchi were, in my opinion, nothing where you could go wrong... far from it. First of all, mine came much later, while everyone else at the table had already had their food. Maybe forgotten and quickly cooked? Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of the accident, so I can only say that it looked as if someone had opened a can, tipped it into a pot, heated it up and threw in a piece of mozzarella... so I used the pot from which I was allowed to eat it. Totally unloving and the taste wasn't exactly intoxicating, especially since I had the feeling of biting on a grain of sand several times, at least it crunched like that five times, and the food made me feel disgusted. It was too uncomfortable for me to return it during the birthday party, but that was the last time I ate there. A disappointment for the third time. All that can be said about the pizzas that were eaten that evening was that the base was too thick on the edge and soggy in the middle. For the price I think the food is a disappointment. I would be interested to know what you should order on the menu instead so that it really tastes good or when the chef has a good day. We don't even have a good day or one of that got a good dish.

A very quaint, winding restaurant. Really nice. However, there is so much demand that the guests are quickly “fed off”. It gave the impression that prolonged and comfortable sitting was not really desired.

We ate here 3 times this weekend (Fri & Sat evening, Sun lunch) with a large group (between 40 and 70 people) and many special requests (diet/low-fat food due to a metabolic disorder in 20 people/children). There were several phone calls in advance to make arrangements and this was then discussed on site. The size of the group meant that some people had to wait a bit and on the first evening a corner was forgotten when ordering. But ultimately everything could be clarified in conversation. The food was very tasty and we would like to come back. The only downside is that only cash payment is accepted, which was a bit challenging given the size of our group if everything wanted to be paid for together.

The ambience of the Absolute Hammer is very nice and rustic. I had pizza, well average, tip: try typical Italian salami, for example Milanese with garlic, that would be awesome. Pasta very good. Beautiful Italian. Always happy .

A nice Italian restaurant on Frauenplan, near Bachhaus (parking available here). The service is good as is the quality and value for money of the food on offer. The furnishings are cozy. You sit very closely there and it is almost impossible not to hear the conversation at the next table. I was there two years ago and absolutely loved it. This year it was an absolute disappointment. Vitello Tonnato inedible, 16 €, carpaccio surf and turf 20 €, ready-made carpaccio, still half frozen, cheapest prawns, covered with cocktail sauce. Spaghetti, ordered from the Parmesan body, 1x with pine nuts, there were about 5 seeds on the plate, but it was okay, the other dish was ordered with mixed mushrooms, mushrooms were previously frozen, would still be okay if they had at least been fried properly. The pasta was never in parmesan, it was just sprinkled on top. Also, no salt was used to cook the pasta. Criticism was ignored by the boss. At least the wine and beer were cold and brought quickly. Conclusion: The standard Greek the next day was definitely better!

Na ja, wir hatten einen Tisch auf 18:30 für 2 Personen reserviert und waren schon kurz nach 18:00 Uhr im Lokal. Leider ist unser Tisch noch nicht frei hatte uns der Chef mitgeteilt. Es waren aber mehrere 2 Tische frei! Gut sind wir noch eine runde in der Stadt gelaufen und waren pünktlich wieder im Lokal. Dann bekommen wir doch glatt einen der bisher freien Tische zugeteilt. ???! Ok Bestellung aufgegeben und gewartet. Meine Vorspeise bekam dann der Nebentisch der 20 min. Nach uns bestellte. Super! Dann kam die Hauptspeise, Spagetti mit Shrimps. Er eine Vorspeisengrösse als ein Hauptgericht für 16,50€ zu klein und die Spagetti schwammen in Öl. Fazit macht auf Edelitaliener, ist er aber nicht! Lüfter im H WC strotzt nur so von Dreck. Da hilft auch das billiger nicht am Waschbecken

We were at La Grappa yesterday and it was great. We didn't have a reservation, but tried our luck anyway. It was fully booked, but he offered us a table, which would only have been free for 1.5 hours and so we would have had to hurry... But we didn't want to, we wanted to spend a cozy evening with friends without being rushed. We were five adults and therefore politely declined. We then stood in front of the door and discussed where we should go instead. The landlord suddenly came out and offered us a stress-free table for three quarters of an hour later... we were happy to accept. Really great!!! Very dear The service was extremely friendly and accommodating... as it turned out, the innkeeper's daughter 🥰 always had a smile on her face and a kind word, really very pleasant without being intrusive. The food was very tasty, well seasoned and fresh. Homemade bread 🥖, drinks, everything was great... you had time to eat in peace between the individual courses, without being rushed. I really liked the atmosphere, there was always something to look at. At the end there was a grappling session with the boss Thank you very much for the lovely evening We'd love to come back

Reserved for 5:30pm... Should be ready by 7pm. Had to wait 1 hour for the food. WITH SMALL CHILDREN, of course they were hungry. Then the wrong food came, not spaghetti with tomato sauce but gnochi with spinach, of course we ordered that for the kids. Sorry, but I won't keep a family with small children waiting for an hour... I didn't even try the food myself; the tired child had to fall asleep while the rest ate. Edit: I tried the pizza while standing up. Little toppings, not my taste.

Rustic ambience, great Italian pizza full of flavor, fresh homemade pasta tossed in parmesan and top ingredients make La Grappa in Eisenach an absolute experience. Definitely worth a visit! The staff seem to have a lot to do, but I personally cannot understand the negative comments about the service mentioned here. The staff were nice and respectful and food and drinks were served in a timely manner

Max. 1 star, the location doesn't deserve more. First of all: poor service, food and drinks below average, but overpriced. Ambience nice, but a bit cramped. Went there 5 times with colleagues and was actually a disappointment each time. Arrogant, dishonest service (forgotten starters, mixed up food and didn't make it as ordered). Poor food: pizza either not finished or almost burnt, salad inedible because it wasn't dressed, lasagna no better than frozen products, .... Tiramisu also not recommended, if available at all) Negative highlight from the last visit: Pizza and salad not made as ordered (ingredients were missing). No mention of this in advance, only served with a snarky remark when it was set down at the table. Therefore no possibility of reordering beforehand. The firing was then a "change money trick" with a colleague (only issued on smaller notes). Generally only cash can be paid... Conclusion: if you are looking for an overpriced restaurant with poor service and food, this is the place for you. If you want to have a cozy Italian meal, you should give "La Grappa" a wide berth and go to another Italian restaurant nearby!
