I would like to share an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant. The waiters were consistently rude and showed clear favoritism towards guests who looked “German”. However, the service to me was catastrophic. I asked for my wine three times but it never came. Nevertheless, it appeared on the bill. When I pointed out this mistake, my complaints were ignored and the waiters' reaction was almost as if I was lying. I still got my money The behavior was arrogant and disrespectful. If you don’t “fit the bill,” you can expect to be treated with rudeness and a bad mood. Absolutely not recommended! AND NO, I know exactly when it was and please don't try to gaslight me!!!!!!

Very atmospheric ambience on the terrace, large wine list, Italian specialties!

We reserved a table because of the atmosphere. After half an hour the wine we ordered finally arrived. You wait about 20 minutes for a menu. The food is tasty - but the quantity and quality does not meet expectations considering the price range. All in all it was an experience but certainly a unique visit. Düsseldorf actually has better Italian restaurants on offer, where the service is also good :-)

Addendum to the owner's comment since I hadn't written any text: I was with my companion Caro. You can also read your review in the reviews. The portion of truffle pasta is an outrage for some pasta with butter. Truffle was grated on enough but why was so little pasta cooked? Pasta and butter are the cheapest in the dish?! On the subject of waiter unfriendliness: After we politely declined the water bottle and the starter, the waiter offered us the starter of the day (tuna salad with feta cheese and watermelon). I also rejected this because it was a sweet and salty dish that wasn't to my taste. The waiter then left annoyed and swore something in Italian. We felt that you weren't happy that we weren't leaving any money with you, but if nothing on the card appeals to me then I won't order out of necessity! I think it's unprofessional to try to sell us something. If I want to order something, I tell the waiter. We came to the bridge because of the beautiful Düssel terrace because we live within walking distance, but were totally disappointed after this visit. I still have one question: Why wasn't there a TSE number on your receipt?

Treated poorly after no starter and no additional water was ordered due to limited choice. Main course very small. Dessert or espresso were not offered. Tipping by EC is not possible. Receipt without TSE number.

We had reserved a table at Gallo Nero by phone. The reservation and the contact were very pleasant, and we even received a confirmation via SMS. Unfortunately, we immediately noticed poor service on site. It took 20 minutes for the menus to be brought to us. The wait staff seemed uncommitted to providing good service - which is difficult to understand given the high prices. As a starter we ordered the eggplant tower for 16 euros and wanted to share it between four people. However, to our surprise, the portion was really, really small. It took over 60 minutes before we received our food. There was no information about the extended waiting time from the kitchen - very disappointing! During this time we received little attention. We had to actively reorder drinks from the waiter. The overall ambience was really nice, but the service and portion sizes don't meet my understanding of value for money. The dishes shown in the pictures cost €24 (pasta) and €32 (salmon dish). Basically, I would like to recommend the restaurant to anyone who particularly values ​​the ambience.

Good food, bad service A bit expensive

Very tasty cuisine: less the typical Italian with pizza + pasta, but rather of a higher standard; correspondingly also a whole lot more expensive. So far so good, but... The open red wine that we wanted to drink was first no longer there, then suddenly it was there. A second glass could only be filled almost halfway (it can happen, in principle it's not an issue), but was later billed as a full glass (without further comment). Furthermore, as is usual in many restaurants, some bread and herb dip was served at the beginning. This was also later charged at 2 euros per person. No mention of this on the menu or from the waiter. It is assumed that this is at the expense of the house, like in many other restaurants. Especially when the overall price level here is already quite high. I simply call it a rip-off (both with the wine and with the little bit of bread), and despite the very good food, I will no longer enter the restaurant and unfortunately will not recommend it to anyone else.

I'm happy to tell you why I'm giving this one star: Reserved at 7 p.m., the call came at 7:13 p.m. asking if we were still coming. We were there at 7:15 p.m. and it was relatively empty. The chicken was undercooked, bloody in places. After a second round in the kitchen it was at least mostly ok. The vegetables included a cauliflower stalk. The empty water bottles were not cleared away, even when we collected them at a corner of the table. We were already making bets about how many bottles we would have to stack. Finally we asked for the empty bottles to be cleared away. We were told, "We'll feed everyone," after which our 17-year-old had 4 or 5 ravioli. The wine waiter did not change our wine glasses when changing from white to red. The dog was not offered water. The hallway we were sitting next to squeaked unpleasantly loudly. At least the starter was tasty. And now the highlight: During dessert, we asked the waitress to have a word with the owner, who was sitting two tables away. Instead, he drank his wine and continued to talk to friends. It was only when we left the restaurant and complained again to another waitress that he suddenly came, ready to talk. Sorry, an owner who sits 2 tables away and doesn't think it's necessary to come over within less than 15 minutes, even when asked, can't save anything at the exit door. And somehow I doubt that much has changed since our visit. The response to many comments is that you should contact us immediately if you have any complaints - we did this in vain. Such lousy service, lack of respect, poor food and all for a hefty price.

This is the second time I've been annoyed by the same waiter: Wednesday evening, a total of 9 guests. There were two of us, the bill was €197, €52 of which was for a bottle of wine (recommended by this waiter, he only mentioned the price when we asked), a generous tip of €20. When we left, our waiter didn't even think it was necessary to get me my coat - my husband was allowed to do that... I assume that the gentleman hasn't learned his job, because this time too he wanted to pour the wine, although we hadn't finished our aperitif yet. The Coperto, which is charged at €2/person, was also sparse this time: only bread and olive oil, the usual olives and spreads were missing. But what was missing most that evening was a boss!

On my last visit to the restaurant I was surprised by a first-class culinary experience. The food was not only delicious, but also very attractively prepared, making every dish a real feast for the eyes. The house wine recommendation is particularly noteworthy. The suggested wine harmonized perfectly with the food served and rounded off the taste experience. I can recommend this restaurant to anyone who values ​​quality, taste and a pleasant atmosphere. Cozy restaurant and fantastic cuisine with authentic and perfectly prepared recipes such as pasta carbonara with guanciale instead of bacon. I think the chocolate soufflé is the best I've had so far.

Sehr schönes Lokal liegt in der höheren Reiskategorie Speisen sehr lecker und abwechslungsreich Weinangebot auch sehr gut.

Nettes, gemütliches, relativ einfaches Ambiente mit viel Naturholz. Aufmerksamer, netter Service. Preislich ziemlich im oberen Bereich. Die meisten Hauptgerichte über 30,00 €. Obwohl schon der Name "Gallo Nero" auf ein italienisches Restaurant hindeutet, gibt es kaum typische italienische Speisen. Außerhalb der Karte werden noch mehrere tagesaktuelle Vor- und Nachspeisen angeboten. Die Qualität und Quantität der Speisen ist sehr gut.

Wir haben einen schönen Abend verbracht, wurden freundlich bedient und haben sehr gut gegessen.

Der Empfang bei Eintritt ins Restaurant war sehr herzlich. Man wurde zu Tisch gebracht und die Garderobe abgenommen, was in der heutigen Zeit wirklich selten geworden ist. Man lies uns Zeit zum ankommen und fragte dann, ob Wasser gewünscht sei. Danach wurde uns ein Aperitif angeboten. Das Essen war wundervoll, die Beratung zu den Weinen als Begleitung ebenso. Der Service war sehr fein und ruhig.

Gutes italienisches Restaurant mit einer nicht zu großen Karte aber großer Weinauswahl. Leckere Speisen, gute Bedienung. Entspannte Atmosphäre.

Ich habe es im November 22 besucht mit den Arbeitskollegen. Das Essen war gut und schmackhaft. Auch wenn es als höherpreisiges Restaurant bekannt ist, fand ich doch hier und da, die Preise etwas überzogen. Privat werde ich es wohl nicht mehr aufsuchen. Doch im Großen und Ganzen kann man es weiterempfehlen

Eine der besten italienischen Adressen mit exellentem Essen in lockerer Atmosphäre und nettem Service. Der Patrone ist ein sehr lustiger Zeitgenosse. Klare Empfehlung.

Wir waren vor 2 Monaten dort. Leider waren die Kellner nicht wirklich aufmerksam, was mich persönlich nicht wirklich stört. Aber on top leider auch nicht wirklich charmant. Keine gute Kombi. Was das Essen betrifft auch sehr unflexibel, wenn es darum geht etwas wegzulassen oder zu ergänzen. Sehr auffällig ist auch , dass Stammgäste wie Könige behandelt werden. Schade, wären gern öfter gekommen, gerade auch weil wir ganz in Nähe wohnen.

Schönes Ambiente, dass allerdings nicht über das bescheidene Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis und den überforderten Service hinwegtäuschen kann.

Wir waren zum erstenmal dort auf der Brücke- wir kommen bestimmt wieder. Das Ambiente und das Essen waren super und man hatte sogar ein kleines Urlaubsgefühl .

Der Abend war sehr kurzweilig, wir haben hervorragend gegessen und auch getrunken zudem haben wir den Aufenthalt auch Dank des charmanten, aufmerksamen und doch unaufdringlichen Services sehr genossen. Vielen Dank für Ihren Beitrag zu einem gelungenen Abend.

Der gehobene Italiener in der Nachbarschaft mit super leckerem, authentischen Essen. Aufgrund der auch gehobenen Preise sind wir nicht jede Woche hier, für besondere Anlässe kommen wir aber immer gerne vorbei, es hat sich bisher jedes Mal gelohnt. Angemessenes Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis. Der Service ist erfreulich nett und lockerer als erwartet, Berührungsängste braucht hier niemand haben. Der Standort an der Düssel ist unschlagbar, in den Sommermonaten gibt es kaum einen schöneren Ort für ein Glas Wein oder ein kaltes Bier.

Beautiful location next to a small river with romantic lights, low background music and people mumbling. The food was excellent, some specialties but fresh and well prepared with a wide variety of wine. The service wasn’t complementing the mood but was respectful and polite.

Saßen bei schönen Wetter draußen. Schöne Atmosphäre. Leider war die Abendkarte recht speziell und es wurde nicht auf unsere Wünsche eingegangen. So hätte ich mir eine normale gute Lasagne gewünscht, konnte aber nur eine mit Trüffeln bestellen, die mir abgesehen vom Trüffelgeschmack zu cremig war, daher nur 3 Sterne.

One of the only Italian restaurant I would recommend in Düsseldorf! The atmosphere is amazing especially when it is possible to eat outside (highly recommended to reserve a table on the bridge), the menu is very rich and various, the food is amazing. The only negative note is the price, a bit too expensive. Also they have gluten-free pasta and options. Also for vegetarians, there are different possibilities. It seems to me that there is no possibility for persons in wheelchair to go to the bathroom as this is on -1 floor.

Hier weiß man, was die italienische Regionalküche eigentlich ausmacht: Sehr gute, frische, saisonale Grundzutaten kaufen und diese dann gekonnt zubereiten - daher höre man auf die Tagesempfehlungen. Dazu gibt es hier ein äußerst fair kalkuliertes und klug zusammengestellte Weinangebot. Das alles kann man in dieser Trattoria in entspannter Umgebung bei sehr aufmerksamen Service genießen. Ich gehe aus diesen Gründen jederzeit gerne in die Trattoria Gallo Nero und freue mich auf den nächsten Besuch.

Wir fanden das Essen ziemlich miserabel, insbesondere die Zuppa di pesce, also die Fischsuppe. Sie war mit großen, dicken Hautstücken versehen: einfach ungenießbar. Auch waren die Portionen unverschämt klein, wirklich nur etwas für den ganz, ganz kleinen Hunger. Bezogen auf Qualität und Größe der Portionen ist dieses Restaurant völlig überteuert! Nur die location über der Düssel ist schön, macht aber den Frust über das Essen nicht wett.

Heute leider spontan im Gallo Nero gewesen. Das Essen war okay, der Service leider nicht. Wurden wie Gäste zweiter Klasse behandelt. Der bereits zugewiesene Tisch war auf einmal für jemand anderes serviert, Wein wollte man uns nur Flaschenweise verkaufen, obwohl am Nachbartisch der Wein Glasweise serviert wurde. Argumente wie „ich muss noch fahren“ wurden mit „da kann man doch trotzdem Wein trinken“ entgegnet. Jede weitere Bestellung wurde mit wahlweise Stirnrunzeln oder Augenrollen an den Tisch gebracht. Offensichtlich waren wir nicht willkommen, also hat der Service wohl doch sein Ziel erfüllt: Wir kommen sicher nicht wieder!

Einmal mehr oder weniger zufällig hier angelandet, sind wir inzwischen recht häufig hier. Abseits von Pizza und Insalata Mista gibt es hier die köstlichste und sagenhaft kreative Auswahl an Vorspeisen, Pasta und Risotto - dazu klassische, aber hervorragend zubereitete Fleischgerichte, spannende Fischkreationen und leckere Desserts. Dazu passt die super Weinauswahl. Chef Emanuele und sein Team können „Italian Feeling“!!

Sehr leckeres Restaurant, sehr gemütlich, man sitzt direkt an der Düssel und obwohl man nahezu direkt an der Straße sitzt sehr ruhig.

Wonder what it's feels to be nothing? Then it's the right place. Extremely terrible service. Last week I booked a table for a dinner. Weather was good and romantic dinner was planned (extremely rare opportunity in general personally for us) hence I asked specifically for a table on the bridge and I got it confirmed. When we showed up right on time all the tables on the bridge were full. While standing there puzzled a waiter showed up. I told him that we have a table booked and he pointed to a small table on the sideway: far from Bridge, far from view, close to a wall and people walking back and forth. I told him that I booked specifically the table on the bridge and he answered: "yeah, but these are big tables, so when these big companies came, you understand, we gave it to them". I opened my mouth to object but the waiter already turned with his back to me and just walked away, right when I started talking back to him. And that was that - we were left alone, standing on the street. This situation could have been fixed in many ways (not speaking about the one when you just don't create it in first place) but instead we were just ignored as we were not there. We even got no apologies. Can I recommend this place? Oh no, with such attitude to the guests - not at all. UPD 01.2023: taking into account the official reply from the business below now everyone can see the attitude.

Wir waren gerade zu einem geschäftlichen Abendessen dort. Das Essen und der Wein waren vorzüglich.

Sitzplatz direkt an der Tür war recht kühl, Service ließ zu wünschen übrig - keiner war so recht zuständig. Stammgäste eindeutig an besserer Servicezuwendung zu erkennen. Essen war in Ordnung. Schade, man scheint sich auf Auszeichnungen auszuruhen…

Vor allem wenn man draußen auf der Brücke über der Düssel sitzt, ist die Atmosphäre am Abend sehr besonders. Die Speisen sind qualitativ gut, die Preise hoch, aber weitestgehend in Ordnung. Einige Rezensionen berichten von einem chronisch schlecht gelaunt wirkenden Kellner...wir konnten auch ausmachen, welcher wohl gemeint ist, aber gestört hat uns das trotzdem nicht.

11.8.22 Erwartungen waren hoch, wie vor COVID Zeiten, diese haben sich NICHT verwirklicht ;-( Knapp+Kurz: chaotisch Bedingung, Tisch Reservierung funktioniert nicht, arrogante, untrainierte oder lustlose/träge Kellner, überteuerte Weine (2 billigsten Flaschen für 29€, alle anderen: 34€,47€, 60-110€) Gerichte Menü ist sehr kurz und nicht edel, passt gar nicht zu Weinmenü/Weinpreise. KEIN "fine dining", gut für eine Kneipe/Mensa. Details 2Anrufe+AM-Nachricht um zu Tisch draußen zu reservieren - keine Rückmeldung. Endlich telefonisch erreicht, es war eine Bitte ein Tisch draußen (mit ein bisschen Abstand zu den anderen) +Privatsphäre - vergebens! Wir kamen -> ein 2er Tisch steht bei den anderen Leuten als 6er Tisch (da sitzen 3 Fremden) Meine Frage: kein Tisch für uns vorbereitet? Antwort: ich habe keine andere Tische mehr. Frage: Wir haben aber telefonisch reserviert ein 2er Tisch und mit ein bisschen Privatsphäre...Das ist unser 16.Hochzeitstagsjubiläum. Antwort: was erwarten sie? Das ist voll. (Fazit: TGalloNero kennen nicht was gute Service/Reservierung bedeuten) Tisch+Bestellung: Tisch stand natürlich unvorbereitet, so schief, daß alle drauf gesetzten Gläser/Teller &Co rutschten langsam runter vom Tisch:-( Ein Wahl war ein Glas Wasser+ Vorspeise Teller fest zu halten oder Menükarte :-( Nach mehreren Fragen "kann einer sich mit unserem Tisch beschäftigen?" - vergebens :-( 30Minuten später: Mein schöner Blumenstrauß steht ohne Wasser in der Vase (aber am Boden!) da unser Tisch instabil ist. :-( Tisch ist schief und wackelt, keine Servietten da, die Kellnerin kennt die Menükarte nicht und konnte nicht antworten (4xGerichte) was wird zu den Gerichten als Beilage serviert. Sie ging fragen und kam nicht zurück. Wir hatten 3x verschiedenen Kellner wegen der Mahlzeit, Ordnung gab es nicht. Tische mit mehreren Personen wurden schneller und ausführlicher bedient als unser Tisch. :-( Mahlzeit: Salz/Pfeffer gab es nicht, ich musste 10Min warten bis ein Kellner draußen vorbei läuft. Alle Gerichte auf die Menükarte waren alle mit nur 1 gleiche Beilage (!) - Gekochte Kartoffeln (nochmals gebraten) und serviert mit gekochten Gemüse - und das für Fisch oder Fleisch. :-( Essen war ok. Gut genug für eine Mittagsmahlzeit in der Mensa (nicht für Abendessen/Restaurant Mahlzeit). Ich esse bessere Gerichte in meiner Bürokantine. Eine große Enttäuschung!!!
