Touch Down in Lohmar

Touchdown in Lohmar is simply fantastic. We go there all the time, whether alone or with friends. No matter what we choose from the menu, we're always thrilled. The Chocolate Thunder Cake, in particular, is unbeatable. Update: Touchdown now offers an all-you-can-eat rib menu every Tuesday. The ribs were absolutely mouthwatering, and even the first round of the all-you-can-eat was huge. For all those who love to stuff themselves and just can't get enough, this is the perfect place!

Positive: Children are welcome here, and there's a playground outside. There's also a kids' corner and art supplies inside. There's a huge selection for meat lovers, but there are also delicious alternatives for vegetarians. Contrary: Unfortunately, the menu hasn't changed for a long time. We've unfortunately "eaten our fill." Child-friendly yes - modern no. Sexist slogans on the restroom doors are seriously questionable. Furthermore, there's only a diaper changing facility in the women's restroom. That's simply annoying for any modern dad and no longer in keeping with the times. The children's menus are equally uninspiring and outdated. I understand that demand certainly drives supply here. Nevertheless, at least an alternative would be great (no meat, no fried food, less salt, fresh vegetables, no canned corn)...

We arrived in the early evening. The greeting was dismissed with a curt hello. The seating assignment on the terrace was also brief and not very friendly. The food ordering and delivery were quick, but unfortunately very cold. I'm not looking for lifelong friends here. But I've rarely felt so unwelcome. The food was OK, but not exactly outstanding. You sit outside on a terrace that's completely enclosed and has a certain backyard feel. A bit of decorating could help. We don't want to go back here.

Yesterday we had our company outing and had dinner at Touchdown. The food was truly excellent, the service was very attentive and quick, and we also loved the ambiance. An all-around successful evening in a relaxed atmosphere – the perfect way to end a trip. Many thanks to the Touchdown team for the great service.

We ordered takeaway food for our games night for four people. My wife's salad was very good and plentiful. We didn't realize that all the burger toppings (tomato, onion, etc.) were packaged separately, and you had to make your own. The side dish of prawns in olive oil was also hopelessly overpriced at €13.90 for five small prawns, as was the small portion of onion rings. We wanted to try the Touchdown, but would soon return to the Bürger am Lohmar Tennisplatz. The price-performance ratio is excellent.

If you enjoy Mexican food, this is a great place. The ambiance isn't anything special, but the friendly servers and the large, shady terrace (perfect for warm weather) make up for it. The restrooms are well-marked, spacious, and relatively new. There's plenty of parking available around the restaurant. The dessert was far too sweet for me personally, but if you like sweet things, this is a great place to eat. A definite recommendation for an evening with friends or colleagues, but not for a romantic dinner for two or for an in-law's party.

We've been in Cologne for about two months on business and eat here several times a week. The welcome is always very friendly. The service and staff are of a very high standard, and even when it's busy, they're always friendly and helpful. The price/performance ratio is absolutely right, and so far everything we've tried has been very good, and we've never had anything to complain about. Overall, I highly recommend it; we haven't eaten this well in a long time.

We were there with a group. The food was ok. The service really bad. The waiter didn't know what to do with the things he ordered. Apparently he didn't speak any German either. The only way to communicate was through hand signals. And it was very drafty and cold. We sat in a large room where it even rained. Dessert is loveless with spray cream and chocolate sauce from the bottle. You don't need it. So there is still some room for improvement. Consider offering the soft drinks in larger bottles. MezzoMix in 0.2...the service isn't that fast to constantly bring supplies when you're thirsty.

We gathered at this wonderful restaurant and immediately loved the cozy, welcoming atmosphere—plus there’s a small play area for kids, which is a lovely touch! The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The menu offers a nice variety of food and drinks, and the prices are reasonable for the quality you get. Everything was freshly prepared and absolutely delicious! I had the Surf and Turf with a Piña Colada, followed by a Berries Lillet—and to finish, the amazing cheesecake! Definitely a fantastic spot to celebrate or simply enjoy time with friends and family.

Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed with the food. Unfortunately the meat was quite tough and not what you would hope. In addition, the portion sizes were really very manageable - none of us were really full, which is of course a shame considering the prices. The taste was otherwise good, but the quality and portions could definitely be improved. Still a nice evening - maybe we'll give it another chance.

Update 2025: everything is fine again! Update July 2023: Dissatisfied for the first time in 10 years: the burger wasn't good, the brownies were cold, even after they were returned only 2 out of 3 brownies were warm, suddenly smaller and carelessly prepared. The next table was forgotten by the waitress. Of course we will be back and hope that it was just a bad day for the kitchen and service. Update 2023: the prices have been increased significantly, we don't like the ticking papers, we prefer to talk about the nice conditions. Nevertheless, it remains our most visited restaurant in Lohmar. Always friendly staff, good meat, children's play area inside and a small playground outside. Delicious cocktails and homemade lemonade. We, our children and even grandma and grandpa love coming here!

The only thing to complain about is that there was no salad on the plates, I didn't think there was enough of a small tomato, otherwise everything was really great

When asked, the service staff was not well trained in allergen labeling. For people who really have problems, this is unacceptable in this price range. In terms of taste and appearance, the food was recommendable.

We had a bland burger with no real grilled taste (more of a meatball with no taste). The fries were delicious... unfortunately the additional jalapenos we ordered were missing, which would have spiced things up a bit without the delicious burger sauce. A burrito that had nothing to do with Mexico. And then such indefinable bland cheese pockets (more like cheap Lavas folded together with cheap Gouda), the sauces somehow saved it. All in all, in the touch down “Helmut” tries to cook Mexican food. Better to go to Mäkkes or to the chip shop for a cheaper price. I can't understand all these top reviews

We spontaneously went to Touch Down for a cocktail. The service was very friendly and the bartender responded to special requests (such as extra strawberries in the actually strawberry-free Virgin Colada). We also liked the atmosphere. Definitely coming back again!

Touch Down serves classic American cuisine with a variety of grilled dishes, salads, etc. While waiting times can be quite long on busy days (especially weekends), the service is friendly and attentive. The food is of great quality and delicious. If something is wrong, improvements will be made. Especially when the owner Mui or Ibu are in the house as regular waiters, the shop runs smoothly and the highest possible level of satisfaction is ensured. Always recommended and also nice after a trip in the area! A special recommendation are the South Side Ribs.
