We give it five stars because the homemade bread was incredibly delicious and quite unique. The arugula salad was a nice change of pace. The service was very nice and friendly. Unfortunately, it was very cold and drafty.

Hi everyone, I was there with friends a week ago. I didn't have high expectations, we were starving, but after eating the doner kebab, my conclusion is that it's the best doner kebab I've ever eaten, definitely 10/10, and the price-performance ratio is excellent.

Probably the biggest disappointment in all of Frankfurt. We were really looking forward to this kebab based on the reviews and photos and it looked great in person. Unfortunately, the taste wasn't that great. It's not even a classic kebab. It wasn't bad, but our expectations were simply unnecessarily high and we found many much better kebabs in the city where there aren't such queues and noise.

The self-proclaimed Holle, who ordered from Wish, has now had the chance to try Tonbul Döner, and my impression of Tonbul is very mixed. The döner itself was the second tastiest I've eaten in Germany and Austria so far. However, we ordered five döner kebabs, two of which completely fell apart, and two others were so sparsely filled that you would have had to eat the child from the next table to feel full for the hefty €12. Overall, the taste is decent, but the consistency leaves much to be desired, and for €12, it's not worth more than three stars.

The quality has drastically declined! When you order, they don't listen, the doner kebab has usually been sitting for several minutes and is almost always cold. Prices are rising, but the portions are getting significantly smaller. They're no longer worth it.

First of all, the owner's calm demeanor is amazing. We noticed he treats his staff well, which is rare in places like this. 0 stress, 0 ego, 0 attitude. Yes, it's a bit expensive, but I think prices are around that level in Germany. €30+- for two people. Includes two 500ml glasses of ayran (yogurt drink) and appetizers. Extremely fast service, everyone is working and knows what they're doing, immediately trying to help. The cleanliness is superb; it's difficult to keep the place clean when it's so busy. The interior is very calm; despite the large number of people, there was no disturbing noise, at least no background music to disturb anyone. There wasn't even any singing, which created a super respectful atmosphere. The bread portions are fantastic!!, full of filling. No chicken option. There was everything you could imagine as a side dish. It was very fresh. The taste wasn't heavy. I couldn't finish it, so we got it to go. We found a place right away.

Prices have been outrageously increased, while the portions, meaning the amount of meat, have been reduced... this used to be our favorite kebab shop, but unfortunately, it now feels like a rip-off in terms of value for money... The taste is still very good, but I'm not willing to pay 14 euros for a kebab where I practically need a magnifying glass to find the meat. A real shame!

The doner kebab tastes completely of lemon, almost inedible. And for that, it cost €12 and we were packed in like sardines...

The cashier was the most rude employee I've ever encountered. There was hardly any business, but he brought so much anxiety and nervousness to the order that almost everything was wrong. I have no idea what came over him. And the doner kebab tasted absolutely awful. The salt was terrible, the bread was the only thing that tasted okay, the rest was strange. Worst doner kebab ever, and the staff were 100% unfriendly in Frankfurt! It's absolutely not worth it.

12 euros for a regular doner kebab. The bread wasn't fresh and felt rubbery. The meat was okay, probably above average, but nothing special. If the doner cost 8 euros, it would be a solid 4.5 stars. At 12 euros, it's 3. It's a shame, it used to be a good place. Now they seem to be just trying to cash in on their name without offering any real quality.

Around 2.5 years ago, when I came to this shop their doner was super delicious and I was feeling the real meat. Its price was 10 Euros. Today I tasted again after long time, the price is 12 Euros and I tasted the meat which was completely like made from plastic. Based on my experience, they increased the price and change the quality of to meat in a bad taste

Rude people , crowded restaurant, overpriced but mediocre food

The employees blew their noses with the customer's t-shirt and then touched the vegetables without washing their hands. They gave discounts to customers who spoke the same language.

Unfortunately, we spent far too much money and didn't receive a good meal. The meat was like rubber. In our opinion (7 people, including 2 children), it had absolutely no flavor. The yufka was like leather; even a knife couldn't cut it. Visually, it's certainly tempting. It looked great on the plate. The children didn't eat their doner kebabs. They only took one bite and immediately left the food. We adults ate it reluctantly. That same evening, my wife and I unfortunately developed severe stomach pains, and the result was... a fall. I won't give this place a second chance. I'm still regretting our 150 euros. A lot of money for very little. It wasn't worth the money or the drive. I can only hope that things change and that customers leave the restaurant satisfied. Of course, it's also a matter of taste and individual perception. We are just 7 out of several hundred customers. But I think it's important to express one's own feelings.

We were passing through yesterday and wanted to try Tonbul. The 3.8-star rating initially made me skeptical. But in the end, it didn't matter to me, since tastes vary. I walked in and was pleasantly surprised. It was cozy and very clean. I received a friendly welcome, placed my order, and hoped the doner kebab would taste good, given how appealing it looked. And it did! The bread was delicious, the meat was cooked to perfection—juicy with the perfect consistency of fat. Taste-wise, it was on par with Ferhat Döner in Vienna, in my opinion. I really can't understand some of the negative reviews. Yes, the doner costs €12. But I'd rather pay that price for such quality than spend my money at Burger King or McDonald's. WARNING! This place is totally overrated! My first review from a while ago has mysteriously disappeared. Is it being manipulated? So, to reiterate: I ordered two falafel, both with spicy and garlic sauce. One of them only had the spicy sauce, and it was applied very sparingly. Both tasted very bland. Furthermore, the dough was barely cooked and covered in charred bits from the oven. Apparently, the oven is always cleaned after each batch of dough is used... Hygiene is clearly not a priority here: dirt on the floor, tons of trash lying around, and change and ingredients are constantly being handled with unwashed hands... The staff (four men) didn't seem to want to work together and were arrogant and unfriendly to the customers. On top of that, the prices are 50% higher than at the surrounding fast-food places. And speaking of "cozy": The dirty tables are crammed together on the sidewalk, and you're sitting at an intersection right next to the exhaust pipes of passing cars. Most areas in the station district, by comparison, are pleasant places to relax. I was looking forward to some delicious falafel, but I was totally disappointed. Conclusion: NEVER AGAIN!! P.S.: Check out the other 1- and 2-star reviews. All those 5-star reviews seem fake to me.

The bread, however, is consistently soggy, and you can tell it's been sitting around for a long time. The doner kebab is poorly distributed; there's no meat on top, only meat on the bottom. In the end, it's a decent doner kebab, and the portion size now reflects the price, but it's not among the best in the doner kebab market. I ate here in the spring when the prices weren't exorbitant. The doner arrived rather unceremoniously; it tasted okay, but that's about it. If I had to pay €10 here now, I would definitely look for a different doner kebab. If the place really needs these prices to survive, then they should publish a list of all their income and expenses to justify themselves to their customers. Otherwise, this price remains extortionate and a rip-off in my opinion. The owner should seriously consider how important the reputation of his establishment is to him. Apparently, the big money he's made from his hype is more important to him right now...

The meat is now being stretched with turkey – disgusting!

I've never seen anything so unfriendly. We tried to go in with the stroller and were practically chased out in an absolutely unacceptable tone. Unbelievable.

The quality has really gone downhill. There were two of us, the ingredients in the bread were clearly skimpy, and we ended up eating more bread than doner kebab or salad. It's a shame, I actually liked the place.

Unfortunately, I have to remove my 5-star review from back then. This time it was a disaster. The doner kebab was spicy even though I didn't want it spicy, and it tasted extremely sour due to too much lemon. It was also far too sparsely filled this time, even though it wasn't busy.

Dry, long bread with only half an empty kebab, crammed full of salad; you could barely find the meat. Before the place moved, it was much better, but now charging €10 for a kebab and handing it back half empty is outrageous. A kebab plate for €17 is also a joke – lots of fries and salad, but we can only dream of meat. These days, you just get ripped off in kebab shops. The place used to be very good, but now it couldn't be worse. What a shame...

I've been eating at his place for years. But this time I was very disappointed. The food was carried about 400 meters home and was cold by then. On top of that, the doner kebabs have less meat in them, even though the price has increased to €12. I'd say it's gone downhill a lot in recent years. Because of this, I, my colleagues, and anyone else who knows me won't be ordering from him anymore.

My husband got us food. It tasted only of lemon, I looked in vain for sauce, and it was cold! We live a one-minute walk from the shop! Definitely not recommended for the price!!!!

The doner kebab in a baguette was okay. It kept me full for the whole day. The mix of vegetables and meat with lemon juice on top was also good. The meat quality could be better. But the atmosphere really bothered me. It felt like there was a whole football team behind the counter, with two waiters just standing around outside. And the best part: the owner in his suit in the background, looking over his shoulder. It was okay to have tried it once. But I wouldn't come back a second time.

It's a very special doner kebab, but it's really good nonetheless. What I like about Tonbul doner is the really pleasant location and the fact that you can watch the baker making the dough. The highlight of the doner, in my opinion, is definitely the sourdough bread. It's a different, fresh flavor with the arugula and freshly squeezed lemon juice, something you could enjoy every now and then. I recommend adding roasted vegetables and feta cheese to the doner as well. Update: Today, neither the doner meat nor the bread was very fresh…

I was surprised by the many negative reviews. I always thought the doner kebab was great, especially with the generous toppings. Today I was almost alone in the shop, and yet the doner was prepared carelessly and, most importantly, poorly layered. The meat was tough and tasted like it had been kept warm. Definitely not an option for the price.

The place isn't big. There are a few seats, but you can tell they're prioritizing maximum capacity over comfort. It's generally quite cramped, and because it's self-service, you have to get up and order at the counter… which, by the way, is also quite small. That's just not my cup of tea. Then there were tons of the typical "boycott brands" like Coke, which I honestly found rather contradictory, especially when words like "Bismillahirrahmanirrahim" (In the name of God) are prominently displayed on the walls. They could easily have offered something like Fritz Kola or Elephant Bay. The food was tasty, but nothing special. I don't eat much meat, but I would have liked a bit more in my dürüm… it felt like 60% salad. On the plus side: The place was generally clean, the food arrived quickly, and the restrooms were surprisingly tidy.

I recently visited Tonbul Dönerhaus in Frankfurt and, unfortunately, I have to say: despite the really good and well-known döner kebab, the visit was disappointing overall. The döner itself was very tasty, but at €12.50 per piece, it was also quite expensive – the price-performance ratio was just about acceptable for me. The service, on the other hand, was truly abysmal. The staff seemed extremely stressed and focused on getting the customers through as quickly as possible. One older employee, in particular, appeared very rushed. He didn't even ask about the sauce and apparently just wanted to "put everything on" to finish faster. My impression was that the main goal was to serve as many people as possible in a short amount of time – quality of service was clearly not a priority. In short: Food was great, service was terrible. It wasn't a pleasant experience for me, and I probably won't be going back there anytime soon.

The staff are very friendly, but it's self-service. The portion seemed a bit small for €12. The salad was okay. My extra request for pepperoni was very kindly fulfilled. However, there were some loose stems mixed in, which seemed unnecessary among the pepperoni. The meat was of average quality. There was hardly any sauce. I didn't like lemon with my doner at all, but that's a matter of taste. The staff should ask if you actually want some lemon. I got extra sauce from a woman at the next table, which she had ordered separately. That saved the meal. I could have asked the friendly staff for extra sauce as well. The bread isn't a typical baguette, and it's difficult to eat without spilling or dropping anything. The plate is very small, and they don't give out enough napkins when you order. I did get cutlery and a napkin immediately upon request. You can get extra napkins yourself at the counter, which is definitely a plus. In conclusion, it's an overpriced doner that's only average. The hype is unjustified. I wouldn't eat there again. There are better kebab shops. Kebabs in general are in decline in Germany. I predict that some people will close their shops down.

I was there today and ordered two doner kebab plates with two drinks for 38 euros. The service was very unfriendly and insulting. Then I received a plate with maybe 20 pieces of fries and soggy, cold meat that really didn't taste very good, and salad that was already brown. I hope you go bankrupt for the garbage you serve. I definitely wouldn't recommend this filthy place to anyone.

12€ for a takeaway kebab is unbelievable and it didn't even taste good

Unfortunately, with a heavy heart, I can't quite understand the hype surrounding this shop. The bread is in the upper-good range, about a 7 out of 10. It's reminiscent of many yogurt breads, where yogurt is used instead of water or milk to create a crispier crust while still keeping the inside moist. That's definitely a plus. The amount of meat is also impressive: there's enough to fill you up without making you feel like a Snorlax. Unfortunately, now we come to the negative points. The red cabbage is very reminiscent of the one from "Haus des Döners"—very sour, rather than pleasantly juicy and fermented. That's a matter of taste, of course. Personally, I don't mind a slight acidity, but combined with the lemon, it's simply too much of a good thing. Either/or would be a better choice here. The salad is different from many other kebabs; it's a mix of lamb's lettuce and arugula. This change seems refreshing and well-thought-out, but unfortunately doesn't provide the necessary freshness that this kebab needs. And that brings us to the crucial point of criticism: The meat is well seasoned and of good quality, but I don't understand why such fatty meat is used. I've rarely experienced yogurt bread becoming so soggy that the fat runs over my hand. Normally, you can balance out such fat with coarsely chopped onions and fresh, crisp lettuce. But the lamb's lettuce isn't naturally crisp enough, and the onions are barely noticeable. I'm really sorry to say this, but the soggy bread makes this kebab a no-go for me and seems overall poorly thought out. If you remove the excess fat, however, you're left with a solid kebab that, while a bit too acidic, boasts good bread and decent ingredients.

But these days, a doner kebab costs €12, and the quality and taste have plummeted to a very low level. I had to throw the doner away after half an hour (I normally never throw food away). I also got stomach problems (I'm prone to them), but the quality just wasn't as good anymore. The wait time is also far too long. I'd rather pay €3 more and get a top-quality steak doner kebab in Frankfurt.
