Tofino Burgerbude in Essen

Sehr ärgerlich. Telefonisch gar nicht zu erreichen, um was (vor-)zugestellt und vor Ort dann eine halbe Stunde vor Ende der Öffnungszeiten die Küche schon zu mit "Pech gehabt." Sehr schade. War mal ein guter Laden.

Über 45 Minuten versucht telefonisch zu bestellen. Letztendlich persönlich versucht zu bestellen wo man mir dann mitteilte dad jetzt die Küche geschlossen sei

10,50 € für eine große Pommes mit Ketchup und Mayo?! Bei aller Liebe zu Qualität und Preis - irgendwo hört es auf. Ich hatte meine Tochter mit 9 Euro losgeschickt um eine Portion Pommes zu holen. Sie kam zurück und sagte mir das Geld würde nicht reichen. 9 Euro reichen nicht für eine (große) Portion Pommes? Sie wollte dass ich mit komme - also sind wir zusammen hin und tatsächlich; die Pommes kosten 4,20 € - für eine große Portion nochmal 3 oder 3,50 €extra. Dann jeweils 1,50€ für Ketchup und 1,50€ für Mayo (!?). 10,70€ für eine mittelmäßig große Portion Pommes Frittes mit Ketchup und Mayo. Sorry Leute, aber die Stadt heißt Essen und nicht Paris. Ein schon echt lächerlich unverschämter Preis für Pommes Frittes. Die Mitarbeiter waren freundlich - der Preis schien Ihnen selbst unangenehm zu sein.

Klein, aber fein. Bester Burger die ich kenne in Essen und umgebung. Preise angemessen.

Die Burger waren gut. Die Pommes waren so "la la" Allerdings hatte das Personal uns darauf hingewiesen, dass Lachen zwar schön wäre, aber nicht so laut... Es war sowieso mega laut in dem Laden. Dass unser Lachen da herausgestochen ist, okay. Ich fand diese Bemerkung sehr befremdlich. Wir sind dann gegangen. Da gibt es andere Burger-Läden, die mindestens genauso gut sind und da darf man lachen, wie man möchte. Wenn es jetzt ein piek feines Lokal wäre, könnte ich das verstehen. Aber Hallo? Das ist ne Burger-Bude... Das Ambiente entspricht dort ist jetzt nicht "gehoben"...

Der Burger hatte einen super Geschmack. Die selbstgemachten Pommes sind auch klasse. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Klare Empfehlung.

Qualität und Geschmack wirklich hervorragend. Einen Punkt Abzug, weil der Preis doch recht saftig ist und ich einen Bruger mit Hühnchen doch sehr vermisse

Ein ausgesprochen charmantes kleines Restaurant beziehungsweise Café, bei dem sofort spürbar wird, mit wie viel Hingabe und Liebe zum Detail die Speisen zubereitet werden. Jede einzelne Komponente wirkt sorgfältig durchdacht und vermittelt den Eindruck echter Leidenschaft für Gastronomie. Auch das Ambiente im Innenbereich überzeugt auf ganzer Linie: stilvoll, gemütlich und äußerst einladend — ein Ort, an dem man gerne verweilt. Der einzige kleine Kritikpunkt betrifft die Umgebung außerhalb des Lokals, die atmosphärisch nicht ganz mit dem Innenraum mithalten kann. Bei schönem Wetter fällt dies allerdings kaum ins Gewicht.

Gutes Essen. Grosse Auswahl an Burger mit 110 oder 200g. Sind gut satt geworden. Zahlung bar und Karte. War das erste Mal, dass ich über Karte Trinkgeld gezahlt habe. Die Eingabe erfolgt über Abfrage.

Die besten Burger der Stadt gibt es hier. Seit ein paar Wochen gibt es eine neue Karte und somit auch ein Sandwich. Das Sandwich Golden Pig mit pulled Pork ist mega lecker. Ein Genuss. Die Mitarbeiter sind alle sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Burger des Monats , richtig gut geschmeckt

Eigentlich fand ich den Laden immer sehr gut aber der letzte Besuch war so entthäuschend, dass ich mir die schlechte Bewertung hier nicht verkneifen kann.Ich hab mir den Burger mit einer Pilz-Gorgonzolasosse und PreiselbeerJam bestellt.. die Käse-Pilz Soße war sehr wenig mit 1-2Pilzstückchen drin und eher neben dem Burger… dafür meinte der Koch es mit der Preiselbeer Marmelade zu gut! Da ich aber eigentlich kein Marmeladenburger bestellt hatte, fragte ich nach ob ich nicht doch noch etwas Käsesauce dazu bekommen könnte was für die Küche anscheinend unmöglich war. ??!!??!! Als Alternative bot man mir eine Mayonnaise an. Ich habe dankend abgelehnt. ganz ehrlich Leute wie flexibel seid ihr eigentlich wenn ich schon 16 € für einen fancy Burger bezahle, dann möchte ich doch auch bitte etwas entgegenkommen, wenn bei Hektik in der Küche offensichtlich ein Fehler passiert. Kann ja mal passieren, aber das ist echt verarschung. Sorry!

Immer top, Bestelle seit Jahren immer den Italian - medium gebraten - kann ich nur empfehlen, schmeckt hervorragend 🤤

Ich habe für 2 Kugeln Eis 4,60€ bezahlt, unfassbar teuer. Dazu waren die Kugeln auch noch verdammt klein und beide nicht besonders lecker (Cheescake und Kokos/ Schokolade). Somit insgesamt absolut nicht weiterzuempfehlen!!!

Absolut empfehlenswerter Zufallsfund! Wie sind zufällig hineingestolpert und waren rundum zufrieden. Mal wieder tolle, handgemachte, ungewöhnliche Burger zum Genießen. Ich freue mich ja immer schon, wenn ich mach den Gar-Grad des Patties gefragt werde und dieser auch wirklich gut getroffen wird. Ich hatte den Feige-Ziege Burger und war hin und weg 👍🏻 Fazit: klein und fein! Super gegessen, nette Bedienung. Absolute Empfehlung👍🏻

Angenehme Atmosphäre, aber muss sagen, dass es eine Frechheit ist eine Cola für 4€ anzubieten. Der Burger war auch ganz okay. Finde, dass Essen deutlich bessere Burger zu bieten hat als Tofino.

Einfach ein Traum. Ich habe 5 Jahre lang in NRW gewohnt, und Tofino war immer mein Lieblingsrestaurant. Mittlerweile wohne ich weiter weg, fahre aber jeden Monat nach Essen, um bei meiner Lieblingsburgerbude reinzuhauen.

ey ich schreibe nie bewertungen aber das war so ass. hab über uber eats bestellt und das waren die ekelhaftesten chilli cheese pommes die ich je gesehen hab. die pommes waren von der konsistenz wie nudeln und in der verpackung hat sich locker 1 tl fett gesammelt, von dem fettfilm an den pommes an sich nicht zu sprechen. und hört bitte endlich auf einfach reibekäse in chilli cheese pommes zu tun, DAS VOLK VERLANGT KÄSESOSSE UND JALAPEÑOS. leute das war crazy

Ein schönes Kleines Burgerrestaurant mit super gutem Essen. Ein Besuch ist empfehlenswert.

Burger war i.O. Für das gebotene aber zu teuer. 100gr Fleisch mit Pommes für 14€. Mayo kostet 1,5€ Beim Zahlen wird auf dem EC-Gerät nach Trinkgeld gebettelt. Dafür, dass es in der Gastro eine Steuersenkung von 12% gab ganz schön erbärmlich.

Taste good but a bit expensive and fries wasn’t fresh.

Unfortunately, things are getting worse. The last two orders were incomplete. Today I ordered for three people: three burgers and two fries. How can they possibly forget something? An absolute disaster. That's it for me.

Unfortunately, Tofino has changed a lot over time. If you want to order something an hour before closing time, there are usually two options: either they're out of ingredients because there were too many people there, or the kitchen is closed because it's not busy. Unfortunately, in both cases, you'll leave empty-handed... we've already had several disappointed customers leave the store. This service is abysmal and doesn't do justice to the burger and its former reputation. Tofino is losing itself here...unfortunately! I won't be going there again.

Great burger restaurant, free parking right outside on a Saturday afternoon. There's something for kids to keep them entertained while they wait, and the service was very child-friendly. Be careful, there's a toy and lollipop trap 😃 There's a kids' menu and a vegan selection. So, we were both happy to visit this place today!

Since I had the food delivered, I can only comment on this. Unfortunately, this time the cheeseburger wasn't medium as requested, but almost completely raw, which unfortunately also means cold. You can't serve a patty like that unless you ordered a Mettbrötchen (meat sandwich). I'll, of course, complain about it next time, but I wanted to point this out here.

I had a takeaway meal with fries for my son. My car smelled strongly of the fries, and I had to throw the food away on the way. Then I bought my son a pizza. It's definitely bad for his health to eat it when it smells like that.

Great burgers and fries. I love coming here for lunch. It's truly a taste experience.

We ate at Tofino for the first time today, and we were very impressed with the burgers. The vegan cheeseburger, with its homemade patty, was particularly great. I also liked the fact that you can combine the vegan patties with the various burgers on the menu, so vegetarians and vegans also have some options. Since we were there on a Sunday afternoon, the restaurant wasn't very busy, and even though we were ordering online, we didn't wait half an hour for our food. We'd be happy to come back.

Three adults, three children, everyone really enjoyed their meal 🙂 The menu offers a kids' menu and vegan options (I really enjoyed the cheesy Dr. Vegetarian). The fries were also delicious. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. I ordered a burger that was supposed to be "medium." Instead of getting a new burger, the more than half-raw patty was simply taken back to the kitchen, briefly placed back on the grill, and then "dressed up" with more lettuce and cheese. However, it was more like a "lump of meat" than a patty. That's neither hygienic nor customer-friendly. For that price, I would have expected a freshly prepared burger, not a careless attempt at patching it up. When I asked the staff if that was standard, I was told, "Our boss wants it that way." I definitely won't be going there again.

I really enjoyed the Brutally El Smashed Burger. I went with high expectations, and they were exceeded. I hope to return soon. The service and customer service were excellent.

The burgers and other dishes are delicious. Unfortunately, the quality has declined considerably over the last two years. I've been coming here for a few years, but now I'm wondering if it's worth it. Wrong orders, sometimes dishes aren't available, and ordering them for delivery has a significant impact on the quality and freshness. The portions have also become smaller. Often long wait times! It's a shame.

Hello. :) Since I just visited here for the first time due to the high rating, I'd like to give my honest feedback. I had the Bacon Jam Burger and Poutine once. The burger was good, but unfortunately not outstanding – although I have to say that I've eaten quite a few burgers all over Germany. The burger's ingredients are high-quality and by no means bad. However, I find the 200g version too oversized, which is mainly due to the bun. Even if you wanted to, you couldn't eat it with your hands, and a burger, much like pizza, tastes best when eaten as intended – without cutlery. The buns themselves were a bit too crispy for me, but the meat, unfortunately, was barely crispy, which would have been good, as the burger definitely lacked oomph overall, including the BBQ sauce/jam. On the other hand, I did like the arugula, which at least added some zest. I'd give the burger a 7/10, but definitely no more. The poutine, on the other hand, was excellent, even if the gravy could have been a bit more powerful. The fries were noticeably made of fresh potatoes, were well-seasoned, and the whole combination was kind of perverse, but awesome. It actually reminded me of cheese spaetzle with gravy, but with fries. I'd give the poutine a 9/10. Finally, a few words about the staff: They were very friendly, attentive, and you felt very well looked after. Thank you for the nice service!

Disastrous delivery time, Cold food

After over 45 minutes, we got our burgers. They were delicious, but others got their food much earlier than us and arrived much later than us. It's outrageous. I won't be coming back here again.

Really disappointing. Firstly, we got the wrong order (it can happen) but even worse was the fact that we found a hair in the burger. That spoiled our appetite. The employee said we should complain to Wolt, although I didn't understand the context as to why the restaurant itself wasn't paying for the mistake. The employee didn't want to direct me to the branch manager and didn't want to give his name. A callback/complaint could take more than a week because the store manager cannot take care of it immediately. We have been long-time customers, unfortunately the quality and service has declined so we will no longer be ordering from Tofino.

The poutin was delicious, but the burger really didn't grab me. Considering that you often read that this is supposed to be the best burger in the area, I found it really disappointing. There's still plenty of room for improvement!

I expected more based on the many positive reviews – but was unfortunately disappointed. The cheeseburger was perfectly fine, but nothing special. The flavor was solid, but in no way distinguished itself from other burger joints in the city. The biggest disappointment, however, were the chili cheese fries. After just a few minutes, they were a sticky, mushy mess. The fries were completely soggy and barely edible. Anyone hoping for crispy fries with spicy chili will be disappointed. And all for 6 euros – in my opinion, absolutely unjustified. Conclusion: The burger was okay, the side dish was a letdown. I won't be coming back again.

As a Nuremberg native, I first discovered Tofino through my then-girlfriend in Essen. For me, it was the best burger place to date. Sometimes, when I'm in the area for work, a visit here is simply a must. I highly recommend Tofino. Best regards from Franconia.

Very tasty food, great service!

My wife and I have been going to Tofino for dinner every now and then for years. Unfortunately, the quality has declined over the years. I only order the burgers all the way through these days, as I once had a stomach ache after a medium burger. Most of the time, the burgers still arrive medium. We like to have them with a side salad and fries. Unfortunately, in the last two years or so, certain items have often been unavailable or parts of them have been missing. The fries, especially when ordered, are often inedible. It's a real shame considering the good reputation this place once had.

I've eaten a lot of burgers in Essen, and one thing is clear... Tofino is, in my opinion, the best burger joint! I personally recommend the Italian burger and the poutine fries! Simply amazing! The meat is fresh, not frozen! The service is super friendly and attentive. They cater to your every need. Enjoy your meal!

I was very curious to try out this burgers and I was really surprised how good these burgers were, as a vegetarian I can say the taste, texture and sauce were all delicious, this is a must try for every burger fan! The fries were also delicious, I took a normal fries and sweet potato, simply the best

We just ordered a burger and fries from Uber Eats, and it was by far the most inedible burger I've ever had. I requested "medium," and the meat was almost completely raw. I work at a great burger place, and something like that would never happen there. I should really demand my money back. I really hope the meat was at least fresh and I don't get two of the same.

Mixed. You can get decent food here, but 4 or 5 stars - never. I ordered the standard cheeseburger (110g) and the smashburger (100g). First of all: please don't smash them if you can't get it right. First of all, objectively speaking. The burgers weren't a proper smashburger. The patty was still a bit thick, which, combined with the size of the bun, worked quite well. However, because the patty wasn't smashed properly, the roasted flavors from the smashing were missing. The patty is quite dry after smashing, and normally you compensate for this by doing something else, or rather, you go in a different direction, and here the patty had neither roasted flavors nor the taste of a regular patty. The juices were simply squeezed out. If there weren't so much sauce, the burger wouldn't taste like anything. Cooking thin patties at home just doesn't taste good. The regular cheeseburger. The standard 110g is far too little here. The bun was at least 20% larger. The buns were generally very large and thus the mainstay of the burger. It would be better to make the patty 130-140g by default. Or simply make the buns smaller. The patty wasn't even slightly pink anymore and was completely cooked through. Juicy is something else entirely. But there was still enough sauce, and the ingredients were fresh. The pickles were really disappointing, simply zero punch. They could have done without them. There was too little sauce on the Smashburger, the burger was too dry, but it tasted better. I thought the Cheeseburger Burger sauce was okay, but the Joppie sauce on the Smash was too sweet. Joppie, after all, but there was no alternative. In summary: the ratio wasn't right. The base is quite good, though. Sauces are a matter of taste. It wasn't my cup of tea. Smaller buns! Or bigger patties. There's definitely room for improvement with the pickles. Fortunately, the patties were properly salted. Oh, and the cheese on the cheeseburger was barely noticeable/there was hardly any cheese. Small note: A colleague had a 200g cheeseburger and a double smash. My colleague's 200g was better. But in my opinion, that's too much for a burger. The patty here was also full of tomato and other ingredients. Whether it was too watery for him, I don't know more. Therefore, my colleague was disappointed with the cheeseburger with the 200g patty. His bun wasn't warm either and seemed dry/unheated. The smashburger with two patties was apparently quite good for him. I can also imagine it would have been with a bit more sauce, which I assume with two patties. The large bun probably faded into the background. He also said that the 200g cheeseburger significantly diminished the overall impression of the quite good Smashburger. He ate it afterward. Overall, that sounds bad, which isn't entirely true per se. But a good burger is something else entirely. Considering that the buns are quite good, the sauce is a matter of taste, and the patties, well, okay. Unfortunately, burgers like that are sometimes standard fare in Essen. But if you're hungry for a burger, don't feel like driving another 5-10 minutes, and you're in the area, you can still go. Otherwise, there are only one or two alternatives in the area, but even they have their flaws. Actually, the only thing that bothers me here is the bun-to-patty ratio, I have to say; the rest can be overlooked for now. The bun also seems more tailored to a restaurant burger. A smaller/squishier bun at the Smash would also be quite good. Sauces are a matter of taste. Ordered via Wolt with a discount for pickup, so I can't say anything about the price.

If you want a delicious burger and some really good fries, this is the place for you. Everything is freshly prepared, with unique and incredibly tasty options.

Tofino was, is, and remains the best burger joint in Essen. The truly excellent burgers of the month and the chili cheese fries are highly recommended. You can now also pay with a debit card. Unfortunately, it's often very busy in the evenings (a downside to the good burgers, and in a pinch, Foodora will help), and the wait for a table can be a bit longer. Edit: Unfortunately, the quality and products have declined somewhat, or others have simply improved. I "only" ordered today, but neither the Smash Burgers are good (they're just regular burgers and nothing else), and all the packaging has leaked.

The burgers are okay, but there are better ones. The fries weren't good at all. They were supposed to be Belgian fries, but they had nothing in common. The fries were soaked with grease and tasted like oil.

Biggest disappointment in years. Delivery took over two hours. If that wasn't enough, the burgers were so cold they were like rocks. It was just disgusting that two fries were forgotten. The garlic fries were so frozen solid that you could lift them whole with one hand. The pictures speak for themselves: no apologies, no accommodations, nothing.

We ordered two burgers. Mine was supposed to be medium, the other well-done. Unfortunately, mine was cooked to perfection. I think it only touched the pan. Too bad it was bloody in the middle. The one that was supposed to be well-done was medium. A waste of money.

Awesome burger, fresh ingredients, a bun from a local bakery, homemade fries, and all available in vegan (with truly delicious homemade patties). Service was once again very attentive and friendly. Please add vegan mayo to the menu :D

Visiting Essen and was looking for a burger joint. Food was good and service were good. The atmosphere was the negative. It was rather loud and the tables were too close together. Looks the the space should hold 1 or two tables less. Went there for Dinner, and dined inside.

Very cute place. We sat outside, something different. Even though we were sitting on the main street, it wasn't noisy.

The burgers are amazing! Really good. However the service and the waiting time kind of ruined the experience. Service was friendly but often were busy doing other things so it was hard to get their attention. It also seems like they get a lot of takeout orders that are prioritized over dine in guests. Maybe next time I'll order to go as well... As for the burgers, these are some of the best I've tried around here. The sauces are really tasty and the meat is freshly cooked. They have a lot of vegan options as well but I didn't try them this time. Very different from the typical frozen patty that you might get in other places.

Burger was OK, the sauce just didn't go well with a burger at all (similar to sweet and sour). There were also few usual burger fillings available (I missed tomatoes or lettuce). More “hip” variants. Pricewise already expensive. Service was ok.

Been here several times and the delivery was really solid every time. Really tasty burger and good fries. I'm not from Essen and don't know any other stores, but I'm making up my mind. Best burger in town.

Italian Burger with Xtra Bacon => best Burger & best Burger Bude in town!!!

Unfortunately a very disappointing visit. After 45 minutes of waiting, only 2 of 3 burgers ordered were served - the third was completely forgotten. When asked, they said they had lost the order slip, even though the other burgers were on it too. In terms of taste, the food was no compensation: the patties were burnt, barely salted and overall not very convincing. The atmosphere seemed just as loveless as the interior design. When paying, you are asked to tip using the card reader - more than inappropriate considering the service. Definitely not a second time for us.

Unfortunately I can't understand the good reviews. We were back in Tofino for the first time in a long time: 1. The beer you ordered was sold out, that can happen. 2. The alternative product expired in March, shouldn't happen 3. The burgers came 10 minutes before the fries, that shouldn't happen 4. The smash burger was burnt and the “melted” cheese was reminiscent of gratinated cheese rolls. Anyone who only has minimal demands on quality will not release such a product. A complaint was made and delivered quickly, it was tasty but had nothing to do with a smashburger, more like a double cheeseburger Conclusion: if you don't have your kitchen under control, you should eat less via Lieferando.

The place is cozy, the food is delicious and presented in a special way.

The burger was terrific. There's no other way to say it!!! You usually sit outside and on the main street. But it has a charm and as I said, ultra delicious 🤗

Tofino is by far the best burger place around. The quality of the burgers is very high. There are always creative ideas for new burger variations. This also makes the store interesting in the long term. The absolute highlight at Tofino are the home-made fries. The fries are so well thought out and optimized that they play in a league of their own. After that, you are reluctant to eat “normal” fries.

The burger is delicious, the fries are first class! Very nice service, short waiting time! What more could you ask for? I recommend ! 😇

Best burgers and fries I know of, and by best I mean the very best ever! I don't know of any burger shop that comes close to the (organic) quality, even though I've eaten a lot of different burgers! 🍔 The vegetarian burgers are also second to none!

Super delicious! Super fresh and quick

Unfortunately, it has waned a lot recently! We have been coming to Tofino regularly for a good 10 years and have always been satisfied. Unfortunately, the quality has deteriorated significantly recently. The salad dressing was repeatedly different than what was ordered. The Tofino and honey mustard dressings also regularly taste completely different to what we have known and liked for many years. The excuse is always that “the boss was experimenting”. You could live with that if the burger hadn't deteriorated significantly. So we ordered the meat well-done several times and got it medium-rare at best. Now you could simply send the burger back to the kitchen, but if it takes longer anyway because several take-out orders came shortly before, you think twice and, if in doubt, decide against making a complaint. Last point of criticism: from the guest's point of view, there would be nothing wrong with the regular use of a cleaning cloth on the tables. Dear Tofino, unfortunately you are now far from the best burger food.

You can never place an order online using Uber Eats. Seems like a method.

Just ordered 2 for 1 and only got one. I called and asked where my second burger was and was told I ordered wrong. All right, thank you for the good service. I'll never order from you again. Then just don't do any actions instead of burning people? Attached is the picture where you can clearly see what was ordered.

One of the best burgers I've ever eaten!

Still one of the best burger joints I know. I had the “Fig Goat Burger” with a 200g patty. The waiting time is sometimes quite long, but it's worth the wait. The fries used to be better, crispier, but I wasn't here for the fries, so the 5 stars are okay for me!

I actually really enjoy eating here because the burgers and fries are really tasty. Unfortunately, the quality of the food fluctuates more often these days. I've always ignored that, but today I was disappointed. We ordered two “medium rare” burgers to take away. When we got home we discovered that the burgers were not only “well done” but also burnt. Unfortunately, it is also very tough and dry. Since the meat is high quality, the price is completely okay for us. But then it has to be prepared well.

We got lunch here. The burger was delicious, the fries were hot and crispy, the bun was fluffy, the sauces were delicious. The sun shines perfectly into the store for a good mood. The service is super nice. So all in all a great lunch break. I'll definitely be back! Top recommendation ❤️🍔

Food great, service flop. I got the wrong burgers and had to drive back and forth for another 30 minutes. Nobody answered the phone in the meantime and they didn't want to warm up the cold burgers on site "because there is so much to do". Extremely poor customer service.

Super tasty, good, rich selection of vegetarian burgers and meat burgers. Fries handmade and delicious.

Leckere Burger und Pommes! Die Auswahl bei Speisen und Getränken ist groß und die Preise sind sehr fair dafür dass das Fleisch 100% Bio ist. Bedienung war freundlich und man musste auch nicht lange auf das Essen warten. Rundum eine sehr gute Erfahrung. Komme gerne wieder :)

Ordered via Uber Eats. Waited 1.5 hours, ordered homemade fries for €5 and received frozen fries. Mayo for €1 was missing. The burgers were pretty good after all. Almost an impertinence.

Four of us had dinner. The service was friendly but sometimes very demanding. The menu offers something for every taste, there are different patties and a wide variety of burgers and fries. Unfortunately we had to wait a long time for our food and it didn't quite live up to expectations. The fries came later than the burgers, some of them had the wrong patties and the cheese fries were only sprinkled with cheese.
