My favorite restaurant in the neighborhood

An institution in Eppendorf, it boasts excellent cuisine and top-notch service in a cozy atmosphere. Breakfast is only available on weekends; unfortunately, there are no accessible restrooms.

Attentive and super friendly staff. The food was not only beautifully presented but also tasted fantastic. This spot is definitely making it onto my wishlist.

This restaurant is amazing! I love the atmosphere and their menu is simple but in a good way, as everything they serve is exceptional and delicious, I have been coming here for years, now and then, and I have never been disappointed in the quality of what I ate. Yesterday night I went there with my girlfriend and both the waiters who served us, have been very nice and friendly, and super quick in responding to our requests (same goes for the food wait), even though the place was full. I can highly recommend this restaurant, their iconic plate is the “Wienerschnitzel“, which I find very nice and tasty 😋!

I was only here for a coffee on market day. Nevertheless, I was positively impressed by the pleasant atmosphere and friendly service—despite the high level of sickness among the staff.

Nice restaurant with attentive service. However, I don't understand the hype surrounding Wiener Schnitzel. I was served pure convenience food. It had nothing to do with an original Wiener Schnitzel. The meat portion was more reminiscent of a slice of ham, but the breading was more than generous. The potato and cucumber salad served with it was mediocre.

Okay, but not good. This strawberry matcha cake is the worst cake I've ever eaten.

Unfortunately, the quality of the food has steadily declined, especially for the price. The atmosphere remains good, especially on the terrace. However, the service and its tone have become unacceptable, and we've noted this several times, but it hasn't improved. Until new, trained service staff are hired, I recommend avoiding this restaurant.

I was a regular customer for several years. The food is usually really good. Of course, that's always a matter of taste. Minor glitches, like chili sauce in a Caesar salad because an apprentice made it wrong, etc., can happen. Generally, the wait times are veeeery long. The restaurant manager (a young man) is friendly and service-oriented. The service is friendly, but overly demanding when it comes to complaints and questions beyond "bringing the plate." Complaints are ignored by the waitresses and/or sometimes misrepresented. Sometimes the tone is also off! Unprofessional behavior. Very brave in today's economic climate, considering the restaurant industry...

I can only agree with the review from the customer "for 15 years". Unfortunately! I am also a regular customer. I have been coming very often at times for a few years. The food is generally good. There have been minor glitches, which can happen. The service reacts in a solution-oriented and customer-friendly manner. I have also experienced them as very rude at times, especially when it comes to situations outside of "food delivery". I have also noticed several times that a thank you is rarely offered for tips. Orders rarely take less than 30 minutes. Complaints are not handled in a professional or customer-oriented manner! That is actually very unprofessional. What a shame.

Beautiful outdoor area and good food. Some minor drawbacks (at least on this evening) were the service. Parts of the reservation (additional information provided over the phone in addition to the online reservation) were not passed on, attempts to clarify the matter on-site were rather rudely rejected, and parts of the order were incorrect.

Tiefenthal is a very nice local restaurant, and it has a very good seating capacity, especially in warm weather when it has a large outdoor area. The interior is lovely and it’s like sitting in a restaurant in the 1960’s with beautiful wood furniture and wall paneling. There is a fantastic bar in the entrance floor level of the restaurant. The staff is wonderful - attentive and very friendly and you get a warm welcome the minute you walk in the door. The menu isn’t huge but has a sufficient amount of dishes to choose from. We tried a daily special, tafelspitz, and the schnitzel. Both were excellent. The wine list is good with fair prices. The coffee is great too. We will come back for sure.

I currently like to eat lunch here. The restaurant is usually full. If you don't come alone, it's better to make a reservation. Very nice lunch table, but also a nice little menu.

Hello dear Tiefenthal team, I always look forward to visiting you. The daily menu always offers something special and delicious. OK, it's a little more expensive for you, but it's still good. Right on the Eppendorfer Baum subway, PERFECT. When you sit outside you can people watch and watch the goings-on in and on the street, wonderful.

We had a relaxed ladies evening in Tiefenthal. Good food, difficult to choose. Roast beef or Wiener Schnitzer or something completely different. The wine is delicious and well chilled. The service was attentive and far-sighted. When our reservation (Saturday evening) expired after 2 hours, we were offered seats at the bar early. It was a long and beautiful evening. And again very soon!

The food was very good! But the waitress (a blonde woman) was extremely unfriendly and arrogant. A bee flew into our food and we took it out with a spoon and put it on a tree. We then asked her if she could take the spoon with her. She took it in her hand and said very succinctly: “and what should I do with it now?”. Shortly afterwards another guest came and wanted to pass the tables. It was a narrow path and he told her that he would wait a moment until she was finished cleaning." And she countered again in an extremely unfriendly tone: “I don’t clean here.” Too bad! The food was great but this unfriendly, bad-tempered and arrogant employee is not a good advertisement for her excellent cuisine

Unfortunately, I have never been treated as rudely as the last time I visited. As a neighbor, I have been coming here to eat every now and then for over 15 years. Today we were pressured into paying and leaving due to poor planning and double booking. Very unpleasant and unprofessional. Too bad. The food is still good, but unfortunately the behavior towards guests is unacceptable.

I had reserved a table in the Tiefentahl restaurant for breakfast on Saturday morning and was unfortunately very disappointed. Although we arrived on time and got our reserved table, the service left a lot to be desired. We were ignored for a whole 30 minutes - no “good morning”, no card, no drinks. What was particularly frustrating was that other guests who arrived after us were already being served, given their menus and drinks, while we continued to be completely overlooked. In addition, I didn't feel particularly welcome overall. It seemed like we were being deliberately ignored. For a restaurant that advertises good service, this is more than disappointing. It's a shame about the morning - I was hoping for a pleasant breakfast. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant.

We had reserved a table to have breakfast. We arrived on time, it wasn't particularly crowded. We waited 30 minutes for someone to serve us or at least hand us a menu, unfortunately to no avail. After we left the restaurant, I pointed out again that the table would be free again because no one was serving us. The only response was a very disparaging “everything’s okay” with a roll of the eyes. It's a shame, we were looking forward to a great breakfast.

The restaurant in the evening is very special, but we also and especially recommend the lunch menu. Always a good selection of at least three dishes, one of which is vegetarian if I remember correctly. Top service.

It was our first time at Tiefenthal and we sat outside. The table reservation online worked without any problems. The atmosphere was very pleasant, as was the audience. Unfortunately there are no cushions for the wooden chairs, so it was a bit uncomfortable to sit in the long run. The service was friendly, although not particularly present due to the high occupancy. The drinks were good! The starter (burrata) was tasty, but in our opinion the price/performance ratio doesn't match. After the starters had been cleared away, we had to wait another 45 minutes for the main courses (schnitzel). That was too long for us and we had to actively ask. Therefore, unfortunately 2 points are deducted. In general, the restaurant can definitely be recommended, even if the price is higher.

La Famiglia, only in German... Some people come to Tiefenthal because of the Wiener Schnitzel. Others because there was a nice film on NDR Nordtour. All good reasons. We came because here Italian hospitality is interpreted in North German terms. The Tiefenthal team manages the balancing act between Hanseatic aloofness and living room feeling. Oh yes, the food was good too. Especially the Wiener Schnitzel - light and like it flew in supersonic from Vienna on the Concorde. MEGA. Mille grazie all.

I ordered Spargelcremesuppe, Tomaten Bruschetta and homemade drink. All was really good and very nice and welcoming staff. You also can buy beautiful paintings there 😍

Eimsbüttler breakfast and omelette, large portions, beautifully prepared and very tasty. Super nice service! Great environment for a nice Easter breakfast! Went back a year later and enjoyed a delicious breakfast. It was just as great as last year, great service. Freshly squeezed orange juice. It was very nice, we'll be back!

Parking spaces in Hamburg remain a problem, it would even be worth renting a taxi, four adults and whiny grandchildren and the service remained calm and relaxed, the tip from the son-in-law would be worth its weight in gold, thank you for the delicious meal

The atmosphere is very nice, cozy, tables are a bit cramped. Starters, cucumber salad and celery soup, quite good, but a bit cold and could be more seasoned. The eggplant schnitzel, vegetarian, very tasty and a lot. The service on our day wasn't good, although initially it was empty and there were four waitresses, none came until we asked, one was very friendly, two ladies were rather short, then the main course was forgotten..., still a second chance, since it was could have been bad luck.

The atmosphere of the place is nice and cozy. The staff in the cafe shop is also friendly. I like it for meeting friends and long conversations. The food is good too. By the way, I just tried breakfast.

If you're sitting downstairs it is a bit noisy and hectic around you however upstairs the atmosphere is brilliant. So just try to book a table upstairs if you can and you will have a wonderful evening

Fine shop.... Food is really good, even the lunch menu is high quality and competently prepared. The only thing that disrupts the conversation is the position of the tables, especially if you have been assigned the middle one of the very narrow tables.

Es gibt eine Mittagskarte mit guter Auswahl. Die Speisenkarte lässt auch keine Wünsche offen. Der Service ist Top. Hier wird noch frisch gekocht. Super in der heute schwierigen Zeit für die Gastronomie. War schon zweimal da und komme gern wieder.

Tolles Restaurant, sind immer wieder sehr gerne dort! Bei warmen Wetter auch draußen ein Vergnügen!

Alle schwärmen von dem Schnitzel, also wurde das geordert. Ich muss sagen es ist wirklich gut aber im Vergleich z.B. zum Tschebull oder anderen steht es leicht hinten an. Ich komme aber definitiv wieder und probiere etwas anderes.

Wie immer gut 👍. Reservierung ist Pflicht, da selten spontan ein Platz frei ist. Das Essen ist im Stile eines guten Bistros. So ist auch die Einrichtung (leicht gediegen) und auch der Service. Ein Hauptraum mit großem Tresen und ein weiter Raum mit gemütlichen Bänken an den Wänden. Die Preise sind für Hamburger Verhältnisse "normal" d.h. z.B. Wiener Schnitzel mit Kartoffelsalat für 25 EUR. Dafür erhält man Kalb und einen österreichischen, frisch zubereiteten Kartoffelsalat. Einige Essen kann man auch als kleine Portion bestellen. In der Woche gibt es eine gute, preiswerte Tageskarte bis 17 Uhr, sehr gut wie ich finde. Die Weinauswahl ist gut und die Preise sind auch hier in Ordnung. Ganz klare Empfehlung wer ungezwungen Essen und Trinken möchte.

Kommen gern am Abend nach der Arbeit. Gepflegtes Ambiente, netter Service, gutes Essen & gezapftes Bier & guter Wein! Etwas größere Salatportionen wären schön, aber ist so auch OK. Zwischenzeitlich war es, den Service und das Essen betreffend, weniger empfehlenswert. Hat sich aber wieder gegeben und wir sind gern wieder da 😃

Das Ambiente ist gemütlich. Unsere Bedienung war freundlich und in Sachen Wein kompetent, im Übrigen aber etwas unaufmerksam: Es wurden zu Baguette und Butter keine Brotteller und nur ein Messer ausgegeben. Wasser wurde nie nachgeschenkt. Für diese Preisklasse würde man etwas mehr Service erwarten. Unsere Suppen und das Kinder-Nudelgericht waren gut gemacht. Unsere Hauptspeise, Rotbarschfilet mit Kartoffelrösti, war hübsch angerichtet aber leider sehr fettig. Der Fisch schmeckte leider auch nicht frisch und fettig. Für den Preis stimmte die Qualität der Hauptspeise nicht. Bin nicht sicher, ob ich wieder hingehen würde.

Wir hatten das Jalbs-Schnitzel,und es war einfach köstlich.Sehr zu empfehlen! Freundliches und aufmerksames Personal und ansprechendes Ambiente sorgen für einen angenehmen Aufenthalt.

Wir wurden total freundlich bedient und das Essen hat allen sehr gut geschmeckt!! Eine Kleinigkeit hatte ich bei meinem Essen zu beanstanden und mir wurden die Kosten großzügig erlassen. Sowas beantworten wir gerne mit genau so großzügigem Trinkgeld. Da können sich viele Restaurantbesitzer etwas abgucken. Wir kommen gerne wieder 👍

Habe von der Mittagskarte das Steak gegessen, war perfekt gebraten, die Backkartoffel mit dem Gurkendip war sehr gut (Kartoffel mit Geschmack !! und gute Konsistenz), leckeres Essig-Öl-Dressing auf den Salat, die Portionsgröße war genau richtig. Service aufmerksam und freundlich, wir kommen gerne wieder.

Die Karte ist vielfältig, da dürfte für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei sein. Pulpo war leider aus - worüber wir erst bei der Bestellung informiert wurden. Bratwurst, Tartare, und Lachs waren sehr lecker und und optisch ansprechend angerichtet. Leider konnte das Personal mit der Qualität der Speisen nicht mithalten. Es gab kein einziges freundliches Wort, Wein wurde nicht nachgeschentkt, Getränke-Bestellungen wurden vergessen. Für uns ein Grund nicht wieder zu kommen - obwohl wir in der Nachbarschaft wohnen - und auch keine Empfehlung auszusprechen.

Wir hatten das Glück, spontan einen Tisch zu bekommen. Sehr aufmerksames Personal, qualitativ hochwertige Speisen, die auch noch nett angerichtet sind. Nur meine Nudeln hatten eine undefinierbare Konsistenz, was schade war; beim Trüffel handelte es sich meiner Meinung nach um eine Mischung von echten und chinesischen Trüffeln (aber immerhin mit ausreichend Aroma) - sonst wäre auch die Menge an Trüffel nicht wirtschaftlich gewesen. Desserts top. Aperitivi gut.

Tolles familiäres Restaurant in Hamburg Eppendorf mit tollem Ambiente. Der Service ist nett und das Essen gut. Besonders zu empfehlen ist das Wiener Schnitzel, welches lecker knusprig gebraten ist und eine große Portion hat. Als Beilage gibt es wahlweise Kartoffelsalat oder Bratkartoffeln mit Gurkensalat. Das Preisleistungsverhältnis ist gut und wir kommen immer wieder gerne hierher.

Immer wieder gut für ein leckeres Lunch. Vor allem bei gutem Wetter draußen sitzen.

Das Essen hier ist gut und man kann sehr nett draussen sitzen bei schönem Wetter. Allerdings kann ich die Personalpolitik absolut nicht nachvollziehen. Die Kellnerinnen sind schlicht und einfach unfreundlich. Ich habe extra Remoulade zu meinem Roastbeef bestellt was mit einem ungläubigen Schnauben und einem Lachen kommentiert wurde… ?! Ähh, sorry aber wenn ich mein Essen mit einer Portion judgement haben möchte kann ich auch zuhause bei Muttern essen. Sehr starke „Sie dürfen sich glücklich schätzen dass sie uns beim schwätzen stören dürfen“ Vibes von den Mitarbeitern. Fällt eindeutig in die „Servicewüste Deutschland“ Kategorie. Unnötig

The previous experiences weren't exactly great but this time they managed to wipe the reasonable ones off and gained me in full! The pandemic forced them to offer delivery and pick-up services, which the elegant residents of snobbish Eppendorf adapted very well to! Other than that, one can now have late breakfast on Sundays (brunch). But above anything, it's the only restaurant in the area with a fine selection of German specialities which don't fall into the obvious clichés. They are flexible enough to make small alterations and service deserve an extra tip! Right by tube station U3 Eppendorfer Baum, close enough you can get the wifi of the station when seated outdoors!

El lugar se adapta a la zona, lleno de clase alta esnob y está muy bien ubicado junto a la estación de metro U 3 Eppendorfer Baum. La tenue luz prevalece tanto en el bar como en el restaurante, le da un aire de sofisticación, que no puede ser confirmado por los muebles cansados ​​y las paredes agrietadas. Nach einem Einkauf auf dem freitäglichen Wochenmarkt kann man hier ein gepflegtes Bierchen trinken (und natürlich auch andere Sachen) - einen Happen essen (lecker!) um dann wieder frisch gestärkt den Tag weiter zu erleben
