The steak was too crispy on the outside and literally raw on the inside! I almost vomited. Never again!!!!!

I was never a real pizza fan, and then the Theatercafe came along with a variety of different pizzas. Everything just fits: the team, the ambiance, the wine list, and the food. Simply a highlight on the weekend or for relaxing after a stressful day.

We were here for the first time yesterday and were VERY surprised👍🏻. Everyone was very friendly, and we got a table at 8 p.m. without a reservation, allowing us to enjoy a lovely, relaxed meal at that time. The theater café was still quite full, and most of the visitors were sitting on the terrace in the pleasant temperatures. The ambiance was very pleasant, and we had plenty of space. The food was delicious and beautifully presented; it was a lovely evening. The value for money was good, and there was something for every taste. We'd be happy to come back..😉

I made the trip all the way from Leipzig to eat in Altenburg, and I think that says it all. Super friendly and attentive staff, and the food is truly delicious!

We were here last night and shared mozzarella bruschetta and tagliatelle with mushrooms, chicken, and Parmesan. The food was incredibly delicious! The staff were also very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend it if you're in Altenburg. It's just a shame the restaurant isn't open for lunch; we would have come back again today if it was! 😉 Absolutely fantastic.

Four of us went for dinner yesterday and have nothing but the best to say. A very friendly welcome, comfortable seating on the terrace under parasols, without being able to hear the neighbors' conversations. Service was very fast, attentive, and friendly, without being intrusive. We ate, among other things, pizza, which was excellent and enormous. The other dishes were also more than adequate and delicious. The value for money is also excellent. We'll definitely be back.

Fantastic pizza and pasta in one - Grand Ouvert! Super friendly service - we had the leftover pizza packed up and unfortunately forgot the box, but the service staff came to meet us in the parking lot with the forgotten boxes - super super nice!! 12/10!

We absolutely love this restaurant - excellent service, great ambience, cool music and delicious food. We had Vitello tonnato, La Bestia (rigatoni with hot sauce & salsiccia) and a pizza. Everything was really tasty. The waiters are very accommodating, the interior is very modern and the prices are absolutely reasonable. We'd love to come back.

Just a few criticisms, otherwise you're great: - How do I eat a pizza that is too soft to eat with my hand, but that I can't eat with cutlery because it protrudes 10cm all around the edge of the plate? In general the pizzas are way too big. The rest that I didn't manage was squeezed into a can! Why not in a pizza box? - During the dessert (pizzi?) with chocolate sauce I was asked if I needed cutlery... Yes, I do. How else do you eat this without getting stuffed? Still had smeared fingers and mouth. -It's too dark in the toilet so I couldn't tell if I still had chocolate sauce stuck to my beard.

We discovered it by chance and it was a real hit. Everything just works here. For me, the best pizza in the area. Very friendly and attentive staff, great atmosphere. We'll be happy to come back. ***** more than deserved!

Stylish restaurant with nice staff and a very appealing menu, always happy to come again.

At the beginning of February I was in the Theater Café with a friend. It was my first time there and my friend had been there several times. The food, service and ambience were great! Everything tasted very good and you felt like you were in good hands because you asked regularly, but not too often, if you had any further wishes or whether everything was OK. I was completely satisfied and would love to come back.

The standard here is really very high, the food is excellent and the staff is very accommodating. Unfortunately there is no children's menu

all oak and reasonably central. and as a visitor there seems to be no alternative due to the lack of other locations. Unfortunately there is no menu in Braille.

Nice location with very tasty food. The service is very attentive. In terms of price, the restaurant is certainly above average. However, individual ideas are also implemented here, such as pizza in the shape of a star or in the shape of a bow tie. My price (€30-40) refers to the entire evening with starter and cocktail. This is also cheaper.

The location is centrally located at the foot of the castle. Modern and comfortably furnished. The waitresses are very friendly. The Italian menu offers plenty of choice; As a calorie bomb recommendation for afterwards: the fried pizza dough with caramel cream.

Very good food for a rather expensive price but the quality is appropriate... My beef fillet was excellent...

The staff and food are perfectly fine. Unfortunately I missed the meal. It was probably also because I couldn't read the menu properly because it was just too dark at some points in the café (poor lighting). But the bottom line is highly recommended!

Aufgrund der guten Bewertungen bei tripadvisor hatten wir aufgrund eines Wochenendtrips mit Freunden nach Altenburg einen Tisch im Garten reserviert. Fazit: ein sehr schöner Abend mit leckerem mediterranen Speisen. Unbedingtauch zu erwähnen ist der sehr freundliche Service. Die Preise waren für die erlebte Qualität auch moderat. Unbedingt zu empfehlen!

The theater café impresses with excellent pizza, delicious pasta dishes, delicious starters, creative monthly specials and a high-quality selection of meat! There is something for everyone! The exquisite wine list and refreshing, homemade lemonades complete the experience. A must for foodies! The stylishly furnished ambience and the new, modernly furnished outdoor area/patio with a view of the castle are unique.

Huge portions, super tasty food, fancy prepared, very friendly staff. It is advisable to book a table in advance. You can take the leftovers with you. The waiting time for the food to come to the table was relatively short. We were very satisfied and will definitely come back.

Even though the kitchen was already closed at 9:45 p.m., everything was done to make the guest feel comfortable. I was served bread with homemade butter dressing, parmesan and olives. The guest feels comfortable here. Especially if he has previously hiked 35 km on the Way of St. James. Super Service. Good wines. Great ambience, right across from the theater in this beautiful city. Trotz, dass das Restaurant hoch frequentiert gewesen ist, hat sich das Personal nicht aus der Ruhe bringen lassen, war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Tolle Atmosphäre und 100% weiterzuempfehlen!

Had a very nice evening at the Theater Café Altenburg! First time there and really pleasantly surprised. The bowl was delicious and the beef fillet was just right. The cocktails and spirits were also great. Our waiter was really nice and the atmosphere was cozy. Really a nice place to relax and eat something good. Will definitely come back!

Tolles Ambiente, unglaublich netter Service und fantastisches Essen. Es gab eine große Auswahl vegetarischer einfallsreicher Gerichte, die Portionen waren sehr groß und Preis-Leistung stimmt hier absolut. Auch die Getränke sind mal etwas anderes, z.B. neue Aperitif Kreationen, Limonaden und auch leckere unalkoholische Aperitifs und Cocktails. Wir waren begeistert!

Sehr zu empfehlen! Tolles Essen, freundliches Personal welches auf das Wohl seiner Gäste bedacht ist! Man kann sehr schön draußen sitzen. Eine rechtzeitige Reservierung ist anzuraten. Ich würde sehr gerne wieder dort essen. Das Essen ist wirklich vorzüglich, aber keineswegs teuer. Wer mag, kann auch Cocktails trinken, die sahen richtig gut aus.

Hammergeiles Restaurant, sehr gemütliches Ambiente. RibEye Steak ist der Oberhammer, moderate Preise, nette Bedienung, Steaks auf den Punkt "medium" bzw. "well done", wie gewünscht, Megaburger, nur zu empfehlen, tolle Bierauswahl, leckere Nachtische, saubere, stilvolle Sanitärbereiche in supergeilen Schwarz gehalten, wir kommen wieder - versprochen!!!!👍🏻

Das Essen war sehr lecker und netter Service. Besonders die Trüffelpizza und das Schweinefilet ist zu empfehlen.

Wir sind spontan nach der Arbeit in dieses Restaurant und waren von der sehr gehobenen Einrichtung sehr überrascht. Die Speisekarte ist übersichtlich und sehr ansprechend. Das monatliche Angebot hat mich sehr angesprochen und ich habe mir auch direkt etwas davon ausgesucht. Das Essen und die Getränke waren sehr lecker und die Bedienung sehr freundlich.

Absolute Empfehlung! Das Essen war wirklich sehr gut, Ambiente ebenfalls, aber was man sehr herausstellen muss ist das Personal! Höflich, aufmerksam, unaufdringlich. Und trotz dass wir kurzfristig reserviert hatten und nur einen Zeitslot von 2 Stunden hatten (was absolut gereicht hat), fühlten wir uns nicht gedrängt endlich zu gehen als sich dieser dem Ende neigte. Selbst das Teller abräumen.. meist wird einem dieser entrissen sonald der letzte Bissen vertilgt wurde und unabhängig davon ob noch jemand anderes am Tisch isst, nein, es wurde gewartet und sich auch versichert, dass nachdem alle fertig waren wirklich abgeräumt werden darf. Eine Kleinigkeit die viel wert ist. Vielen Dank für das tolle Erlebnis! Wir kommen wieder!

Essen ist top,Bedienung ist super freundlich, aber durstig sollte man nicht sein... Für meinen Geschmack ist es viel zu dunkel, zum Karte lesen Braucht man ein Handy mit Licht oder die Lampen , die auf dem Tisch stehen.

Der heutige Geburtstagsabend im Theatercafe' war einfach nur einmalig und wundervoll! Ganz herzlichen Dank an das ganze Team des Hauses! Unfassbar leckeres Essen, absolut liebe- und rücksichtsvolle Bettreuung und obendrauf noch ein Gratis-Geburtstags-Gläschen zum Finale. Danke, Ihr Lieben! Das war echt groß! Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Schönes Lokal mit tollem Ambiente. Der Service war stets zu stelle. Das Essen war leider nicht nach meinen Erwartungen. Die Kartoffeln zu meinem Gericht waren hart und von irgend einem Vortag übrig.

Stilvolles Restaurant mit hochwertigem Essen, tollen Getränken und klasse Service

Zuerst kann ich sagen das das Essen und der Service sehr gut waren.... aber.... gleich zu anfang noch beim Eintreffen an der Tür wurden wir sofort darauf hin gewiesen das wir in spätestens 2 Stunden wieder zu gehen hätten. Und dabei hatten wir 1 Woche vorher reserviert und wollten uns einen schönen Abend machen. Das hat uns dann sprachlos gemacht. Ergo... nicht noch einmal.

War gestern zum ersten Mal hier es ist ein sehr schönes Lokal das Personal sehr freundlich auch das Ambiente ist wunderschön und das Essen war sehr gut alles in allem war es ein wunderschöner Abend. Eine ganz kleine Anmerkung hätte ich doch es könnten in einen Steakhaus ein paar Steakgerichte (außer die zwei die auf der Karte sind) mehr sein.

Wir waren zum ersten Mal Gäste im Altenburger Theatercafe. Dieses Restaurant hat eine lange Tradition. Hier residierte schon die eine oder andere Persönlichkeit. Ich kenne dieses Restaurant schon aus meinen Kindertagen 😉. Die Auswahl an Speisen und Getränken ist sehr gut und vielseitig. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und kommen wieder.

Hier wären eigentlich 6 Sterne angemessen! Neben der herzlichen Begrüßung und dem romantischen Plätzchen im Aussenbereich direkt ggü. des Schlosses, war ich vorallem vom Speisen-/Getränkeangebot begeistert. Endlich mal nicht der Einheitsbrei, sondern einiges besonderes. JEDER meiner drei Gänge war ein grosser Genuss für Augen, Nase und Mund. Die Speisen wurden professionell und liebevoll angerichtet. Die verschiedenen Zutaten rochen auch genau so und nicht nach künstlichen Geschmacksverstärkern! Mein Lachs war aussen knusprig und innen zart und saftig. Wirklich ein kompletter Hochgenuss! Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis fand ich stimmig. Sollte ich wieder in Altenburg sein, wird das Theatercafè definitiv wieder aufgesucht!

Nicht von aussen täuschen lassen, hinter der Fassade steckt ein gut eingerichtetes Restaurant, in dem man wirklich gut essen kann - von Burgern über gute Steaks bis hin zu Pizza und Pasta und allerlei anderem Leckeren. Was ist man in der Skatstadt? Pizza Grand Ouvert. Sieht putzig aus mit 4 Ecken und Trüffelnudeln in der Mitte, aber war wirklich sehr gut. Die Ecken gefüllt mit Salami und Fior die Latte. Einzig zu bemängeln - zu grosse Portion. Der Kellner meinte schon "das schafft hier selten einer" und so war es auch, es blieb viel übrig. Weniger wäre da mehr, man muss den Gast nicht überfordern. Ansonsten alles sehr gut, Bedienung sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, Preise fair für das Bekommene. Wenn nochmals in Altenburg, dann geht es auf jeden Fall wieder hier hin!

Der Don Vitello Burger, der absolut beste Burger den ich jemals gegessen habe. 5 Sterne absolut verdient !!!

Update 2023 Es wird immer besser! Essen top, Service top und Location top. Kann nicht mehr besser werden. Eins unserer top 5: Restaurants überhaupt!! Unser zweiter Besuch im Theatercafé. Also wurde es Zeit die erste Bewertung einmal zu überarbeiten. Das Theatercafé hat den Lockdown durch Corona gut verkraftet und viel getan Das ganze Lokal wurde extrem renoviert und ist jetzt sehr modern , sauber und stylisch. Das Personal ist sehr jung, aufmerksam, gut gelaunt und zugänglich. Das Essen war sehr schmackhaft und wir kommen sicher wieder.

Sehr gemütliches Restaurant für Steaks, Pasta und Co. Es steht zwar historisch bedingt und aus Gründen des Denkmalschutz "Theatercafé" dran, ist aber ein Restaurant und keine Kaffeehaus. Die Bedienung ist zuvorkommend und man hat einen tollen Blick aufs schöne Altenburger Residenzschloss. Die Spaghetti con Ajo und das Rinderragout mit Muschelnudeln haben sehr gut geschmeckt und waren auch schön angerichtet.

Gutes Essen, freundliche Bedienung

Eines der besten Restaurants in Altenburg, ausgefallenes Menü, extrem leckere Gerichte & eine ganz tolle Atmosphäre. Einzig die Öffnungszeiten sind ausbaufähig. Zu den hausgemachten Dips zu Beginn könnte ein Korb Brot geliefert werden.

Tolle Location, leckere riesige Pizza, bester Service!

Das Abendessen im Theatercafé hat meinen Tag toll abgerundet. Die Bedienung war freundlich, kompetent und hat einen nicht lange warten lassen. Das Essen wurde schnell zubereitet und war sehr lecker. Außerdem finde ich das Ambiente sehr entspannt und stilvoll. Nächstes mal gerne wieder.
