As always, perfect food, perfect service!

We had a very nice room. We'd gladly come back.

We spontaneously went to the old blacksmith's shop on the evening of January 1, 2026. Almost all the tables were reserved. However, they offered us a table at the small regulars' table by the bar. We gratefully accepted. We were served very warmly right away. The food was also delicious. So we went back again on January 3, 2026. We were greeted very warmly the second time as well. The food was a delight once more. We will gladly come again and highly recommend it.

There were three of us today, and even just reading the menu was a treat. We all decided on the same dish, lamb schnitzel. It tasted absolutely fantastic, nothing more to say. The only downside was having to lug our stuffed bodies back up the mountain afterwards. We'll definitely be back.

I would give this place a zero, which unfortunately isn't possible. I hadn't made a reservation, but I politely asked if I could have a coffee, as I was alone. I was shown to a table opposite the kitchen area, which wasn't even a designated guest table, which I found quite surprising. After I politely asked if I could possibly have another table, the owner started snapping at me rudely and without any reason, and then practically choked me off with a hand gesture, instead of politely pointing out that all the tables were reserved. I found this particularly rude to a woman. The other guests at the next table must have had an interesting experience as well, as they witnessed the scene with obvious discomfort. Therefore, I would strongly recommend that the owner take a basic course in hospitality. I cannot recommend this place to anyone expecting a warm welcome. Thank you for your apology 👍 I will, of course, warmly recommend your kindness. 😁👍

We spent a short break after Christmas at the old blacksmith's shop. The rooms and the dining area are very charmingly decorated. The breakfast is very plentiful, and they cater to the personal tastes of the guests. All in all, everything was fantastic!

There were two of us for dinner. Even though it was full, they still found a table for us. The lovely owner took great care of everyone. We both had lamb shank. Absolutely delicious.

Pride comes before a fall! We actually made a detour to Lückendorf based on the many good reviews, but things didn't go as planned. Meeting the "boss" in the evening was very unpleasant. Contrary to the reviews, we found her arrogant, haughty, and resistant to criticism. She reacted completely unprofessionally to the poor communication during the booking process (by phone) and our minor criticism of the dinner! It's a shame; it really ruined our stay, and no, we won't be coming back! A brief comment on your response: If your team finds the mere inquiry about your presence extremely negative, that speaks volumes and explains a lot! And it wasn't just a "hello," but a whole and sincere "good evening."

We've been here twice now. A small inn with very tasty food. Highly recommended! 👍

We had a lovely Christmas party at this wonderful restaurant. A huge compliment to the hostess and I also want to commend the fantastic food. Everything was delicious. We'd love to come back.

November 2025: We stayed here for the weekend, including a large group dinner. The table was beautifully decorated, truly wonderful. Excellent service. Excellent food. The rooms are clean and just right. We lacked nothing. Breakfast was also very good, and fresh egg dishes were available upon request. Overall, excellent value for money. March 2023: We stayed here on a Friday evening and had made a reservation in advance. We were given a lovely table and received very friendly service throughout the evening. The water was complimentary – a very kind gesture towards the guests – THANK YOU! The food was very good and plentiful. The price-performance ratio is excellent. The ambiance is very, very nice, and everything was clean – including the restrooms. Thank you for the lovely evening; we would love to come back again.

The two of us, along with our dog, spent a wonderful, relaxing weekend at the Alte Schmiede. The location is an ideal starting point for hiking. The historic building is charmingly furnished, and we were surprised by how soundproof it is despite its age. We slept wonderfully at night. Breakfast is beautifully presented and varied, and a visit to the restaurant in the evening is highly recommended. We had a thoroughly enjoyable short break here and will certainly return.

Great German-Bohemian cuisine. Appropriate for the border region. Apparently lucrative for locals too. Ordering is a good idea here. The two main players have everything under control, including the guests 😂. We had a small misunderstanding. But it was resolved immediately and with goodwill. Thanks again for everything. We had a reservation at the restaurant, as it can be difficult to book spontaneously. Inside and out, it was very cozy and inviting. The service was incredibly attentive and genuinely attentive, especially in the little details. Our dog was immediately given water and a treat. At the next table—with a larger group—the younger children were immediately given crayons and paper. They also pointed out that pasta or fries, which aren't on the menu, are available. I really enjoyed the Alte Schmiede Lückendorf. The room was wonderful and decorated with great attention to detail. Dinner in the in-house restaurant was truly delicious. Breakfast was tasty and very creatively prepared. The owner is a kind-hearted person. A bicycle garage was also available. My journey continued from Lückendorf to the Czech Republic, which was perfect since Lückendorf is only a few kilometers from the Czech border. The next tour will certainly take me there too! We were there for dinner. It was a very nice location. The food was beautifully presented and plentiful. The raspberry lemonade was delicious, with lots of fruit. The service was very friendly and attentive. The value for money was excellent.

I've been debating for a few days now whether or not to write a review. But I'm still annoyed... I'd like to start with something positive, though. The food is truly amazing and we really enjoyed it. What I'm still annoyed about is the service. We had reserved a table at 6:00 PM and arrived on time. But there were no tables available. So we had to wait outside (there's no room to wait in the restaurant itself) for a whopping 45 minutes until a table became available. They did offer us a drink, but it wasn't particularly friendly. After all, how are you supposed to know what you want off the cuff if you haven't received a menu yet? We were told that the waiter had misjudged it. BUT! What could you possibly misjudge? The restaurant opens at 5:00 PM. Even if all the seats are immediately taken, it takes 10 minutes to order, 20 minutes for the food to arrive, and no one is finished, paid, or vacated the table after 30 minutes. They simply tried to book the reserved table again at our expense. The manager was kind enough to apologize and promised to make it right. So far, so good, and that would have certainly slowed my heart rate, but that was simply forgotten. I don't accept the excuse that it was full, because it had already emptied towards the end and you had time to chat with the guests. Normally, you would have given everyone the finger and just left after 30 minutes, but finding an alternative in the area on a Friday would have been hopeless. What conclusion can you draw? If you have thick skin, you can eat really well there, because the chef can cook. But if you value service and are prone to getting upset, you should probably look elsewhere. Addendum, based on the hosts' feedback: Now you're also being called a liar as a guest. That's truly the height of impudence. The wait was exactly 45 minutes. I have a watch and can read it. The reservation was for 6 p.m., and the table was free at 6:45 p.m. There are three witnesses to this. While there was a free drink, you also had to stand in the cold (17.5°C). It's inexcusable to simply give away a table because unannounced guests arrive. This has nothing to do with charity, but rather with business sense. Perhaps the "Alte Schmiede" should stop taking reservations.

Anyone looking for peace and quiet and a good starting point for hikes and trekking tours will find it here. The bus connections could be a bit better, but that's not the hosts' fault. The food is very, very good and highly recommended.

Two of us went for dinner. We sat outside. Nice decor and cozy. Super friendly service. Food 10/10. Very plentiful, very well seasoned, lots of berries and dried flowers. 2 soups, 2 lemonades, and 2 meals for a reasonable 69.00 without tip.

We discovered this idyllic little restaurant by chance and were absolutely delighted. The lovingly and tastefully decorated beer garden, the friendly welcome, the extensive selection of food and drinks, and the fact that the dishes we chose were delicious are the reasons why we highly recommend this restaurant.

We had dinner at the Gasthof Alte Schmiede today and were thoroughly impressed and delighted! The restaurant is very cozy and inviting, and the staff is super friendly and accommodating! All we can say about the food is: top-notch! We haven't had such delicious food in a long time! If we're ever in the Zittau Mountains again, we'll definitely come back!

What a cozy and lovingly furnished accommodation! The landlady is so friendly and gracious! The breakfast was excellent, and the accommodation was furnished with so many details that it was simply cozy. A great bathroom, and a new feature for us was the minimalist minibar: I've never experienced anything smaller, but my water was always perfectly chilled, and the first coffee in the room was fine. We'd love to come back and have already recommended the accommodation to others...

The friendliness of the staff and the outstanding quality of the regional delicacies are unparalleled in the Zittau Mountains and have consequently won numerous awards.

"Super" is the word that comes to mind for everything here! Super nice little place, the rooms are decorated with great attention to detail, the food is fantastic, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. This won't be our last visit to the Alte Schmiede!

We were there for 5 nights over Easter. I always have a hard time with 100% reviews but here, everything is really perfect! Innkeepers, employees, food, drink, rooms, beds, layout, location, etc. A very clear recommendation, not just for this area. Here the wish is still a “command”. ☺️

A really nice and quaint little hotel in a historic house (half-timbered). Everything was perfect, very friendly staff and very good cuisine. I am happy for the inn that it is so well attended despite its peripheral location in the border triangle with the Czech Republic and Poland. I can only recommend it and thank the chance to end up here for one night.

My partner and I spent two nights at the Alte Schmiede Lückendorf with breakfast included and were absolutely thrilled. The ambiance is cozy and rustic, and the owner welcomes her guests with a warmth that immediately makes you feel welcome. Our room was decorated to match the style of the house and equipped with everything you need. Particularly convenient: The restaurant is located right in the house – and the food is simply excellent. We ate there both evenings and were delighted every time. A real highlight was the radish carpaccio with goat cheese – absolutely delicious! The service was so friendly and attentive that we almost felt like we were staying with friends. The breakfast also left nothing to be desired. Everything was fresh, lovingly prepared, and special requests were immediately fulfilled. If you're in the area, don't miss this little gem. We would come back anytime – and if it were possible, I would give it more than five stars. 😊

This was our first time staying at the "Alte Schmiede" in Lückendorf. ...and it was a very good choice! We received a very warm welcome, despite the packed restaurant. The food is delicious and varied, and the rooms are quaint, cozy, and absolutely clean. Just great. We spontaneously looked for a restaurant for dinner. Two adults and four children. No annoyed staff but always friendly, laughing people. The food was also super tasty. Highly recommended!

Unfortunately the food wasn't what was on the menu. If I order game, then it should be game, and not just the sauce taste like game. When you run out of food you should be honest. Cook it out continued success. We won't come back ever again

Inconspicuous but definitely worth a visit! We only went to the inn to eat, but twice in the evening. With children and 11 people, the waiting time was absolutely great. Children are given crayons to paint with to shorten the waiting time. ALL dishes were top. From game to schnitzel, from salad to dessert. Everything tasted excellent and was presented very attractively. The portion sizes were also very good for such fine dining. Absolute recommendation!

Very nice hosts, beautiful, very clean rooms with attention to detail. The food was very tasty and requests were catered for. We didn't have any ourselves, it was simply cooked perfectly. At the neighboring table something vegetarian was requested, the chef herself came and asked what we would like. Very kind of her. The breakfast also left nothing to be desired. All in all, a trip worth taking and pure relaxation. Thanks for the great time, we'll be happy to come back.

We (my husband, my child, our dog and I) had lunch at the old smithy today and what can I say, we have never been so enthusiastic about the service, food and price! The service was very courteous and attentive, starting with the child with a booster seat, to painting materials (which didn't contain plain white paper but rather a wooden horseshoe with a horse motif to color in, that's what I call creative! right up to the water bowl for the dog plus treats. The food was served at the same time and served after a short wait and was simply perfect and very tasty! Above all, you were really full, which is not the case in every restaurant anymore The ambience was a real eye-catcher! An open fire in the oven simply rounded off the picture! Last but not least, it was time to pay and what can I say, a tip of 15 euros was still not enough, the price for food and drinks was reasonable and not overpriced! A little sweet souvenir key for each of us (great idea). We will definitely visit the old forge again and look forward to the next time!

The old blacksmith shop rightly received the award “Guest Favorite 2024” The service is excellent, you feel like you have been welcomed into a family, everyone here is so welcoming. The food is great and at the same high level every day. The rooms are clean and comfortably furnished. The surrounding area is beautiful for hiking. It's not far to Oybin or Zittau. I can only recommend the Alte Schmiede to everyone.

With the best hiking weather, the Gasthof zur Alten Schmiede in Lückedorf surprised us even more. Ordering, service, comfort, the kitchen with the tasty dishes... Simply praiseworthy and everything was super committed. You can't say a bigger thank you. We'd love to come back.

It was a very nice stay where everything was perfect, from the hospitality to the food to the comfort of the room. We certainly won't be in the Alte Schmiede for the last time.

I can only judge the kitchen. Inspired by the good assessment, I spontaneously stopped by for lunch. Full house, still got cookies and dined like a king. Our granddaughter was even able to paint a wooden horseshoe and got a small plush figure. Respect, we have never experienced anything like that. There was another lucky charm for us. To everyone who is traveling in the area, a visit is a must!
