The Newport Restaurant & Marina in Lübeck

We were there for my girlfriend's birthday – simply perfect! My advance requests were perfectly accommodated, the service was excellent, and the food was fantastic. Many thanks to the team!

Das Essen ist von sehr hoher Qualität und und wird mit Liebe zubereitet. Zehn Punkte für den Geschmack und nochmal zehn Punkte für den exzellenten Service. In dem Ambiente mit der Aussicht auf den Lübecker Hafen, die Kirchen ist es ein fantastisches Erlebnis im Newport gewesen.

This wasn't the first time we've been to New Port and we'll happily go there again and again.

We had our outdoor wedding at the Newport—including a reception with appetizers—and it was simply dreamy. The venue itself is beautiful, very stylish, and perfect for such a special moment. The staff was super friendly, extremely attentive, and took loving care of everything. We and our guests felt completely at home. It was exactly the atmosphere we had hoped for 🥰

No pictures uploaded. Simply too delicious. ABSOLUTELY We have to go back. The service was very friendly. Good advice, as if you were the only customer. All the dishes were out of this world. Very attentive, with plenty of time between each meal. But the food still came quickly. Not for those on a budget, but worth every euro. I have to go back.

If you are looking for excellent food, a very good wine selection and perfect service, Newport is the right place for you! In the summer you can relax on the sun deck, including a view of the old town island. The Newport: Highly recommended!

Wir haben hier eine wunderschöne Familienfeier aus Anlass eines 90-jährigen Geburtstags erlebt. Das Essen war wirklich tadellos und genügt höchsten Ansprüchen. Über den Service kann man sich einfach nur freuen, absolut professionell und zudem herzlich und zugewandt. Unsere Bitte nach einem separaten Raum wurde erfüllt und hier sowie im gesamten Restaurant besteht ein wirklich ansprechendes Ambiente. An dem Standort gegenüber der Altstadt mit davor liegender Trave gibt es genauso wenig zu beanstanden wie an dem Reservierungsprocedere. Wenn man eine Feier in einem besonderen Rahmen begehen möchte und bereit ist so eine Qualität auch entsprechend zu honorieren ist dieses Restaurant genau die richtige Wahl!

Mal wieder im Newport gewesen, diesmal mit Geschäftsfreunden - und war wieder mal sehr zufrieden. Das Newport gefällt mir so gut, weil für mich persönlich hier alles passt: Die Location ist besonders, nicht irgendein Haus in irgendeiner Strasse - sondern exponierter Teil der Mediadocks, also einer ehemaligen Lagerhallenreihe direkt im Hafen. Solange man im Wintergarten sitzt, hat man einen exzellenten Blick auf die Altstadt mit ihren Türmen - und auf alles, was in diesem Teil des Hafens herumschippert. Also eher Motoryachten und Touristenbötchen, aber immerhin. Service: Ich bin immer wieder so sehr angenehm erfreut über alles, was hier an Personal rumläuft. Professionell aber verbindlich, freundlich und charmant, angenehm zurückhaltend aber immer präsent, wenn benötigt. Einfach gut. Wirklich. Essen: Eine vielseitige Karte mit feinen, kleinen Vorspeisen, interessanten und abwechslungsreichen Hauptgängen und guten Desserts. Was mich immer wieder flasht, ist die Darbietung vermeintlich einfacher und bekannter Gerichte, die dann auf dem Teller bereits optisch völlig unerwartet daherkommen. Beispiele: Rindertartar als Vorspeise. Grundsätzlich schon wie zu erwarten, aber eine (angenehm) kleine Portion, viel Geschmack, sehr fein angerichtet. Oder mein Ostseedorsch mit Polenta. Mein erster Eindruck: Sehr übersichtliche Portion - aber geschmacklich einfach überragend. Und es sieht einfach schöner aus, als das, was man sonst so auf den Teller bekommt, zumindest ich esse auch mit den Augen. Geschmacklich immer so, dass man (also ich) sich freut, genau dieses Gericht auf dem Teller zu haben. Und wenn man den Teller leer gegessen hat, stellt man fest: Alles genau richtig, mehr sollte es nicht gewesen sein. Denn sonst passt das Dessert nicht mehr: Und wenn man sich dann z.B. für das Mango-Panna Cotta entscheidet, hat man garantiert ein klares Bild vor Augen - und erwartet nicht, was dann kommt. Siehe Bild. Übrigens: Wo wird man eigentlich sonst gefragt, wie man seinen Spargel gerne hätte - "eher weich wie zuhause" oder al dente. Und das dann später auch so geliefert wird. Klasse! Weine: Gut sortierte Karte, auf der es mit einfachen Weissburgundern für gute 20 Euro anfängt, aber auch bessere Flaschen nicht völlig weltfremd bepreist (Chablis knapp 50 Euro, Puilly Fumee 42 Euro). Das gefällt mir gut. Preislich ist das Newport ambitioniert, aber für mich jeden Cent wert eingedenk allem, was dazu geboten wird. Also, unterm Strich für mich immer wieder die Location in HL, die ich gerne Freunden zeige, weil ich hier nie untergehe. Auch wenn das Hafenbecken gefährlich nah ist. Klare Empfehlung...

Quality nice. Service still needs improvement. Why, fine dining also means first class service. It's good, but there's more to it. Location really cool, pets are always a matter of taste, but a dog on my lap doesn't really work for me personally. The overall impression actually bothers me when you leave real money behind.

Very nice restaurant, very courteous staff and of course very tasty food. A very good place to eat in Lübeck.

The restaurant is located on the harbor and really invites you to linger, especially after dark. The pre-dinner drinks are the perfect start to a lovely evening. The food was absolutely top notch! The Iberian pork cheeks were tender and the sauce was the cherry on top. The octopus was from another world. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The service also rounded off the evening, high-class and pleasant. Highly recommended if you want to spend an evening at a good level.

The food is well-crafted and tasty. Service is sometimes a bit clumsy, but attentive and always friendly. The sun-kissed conservatory makes it a bit warm.

We had dinner in Newport today. The Viennese veal schnitzel with the potato salad with cucumbers were very tasty! We received a very friendly welcome, were accompanied attentively and humorously throughout the evening! We feel very comfortable!

Very good food, a bit higher priced given the atmosphere, but it's definitely worth it...it's a 15-20 minute walk along the water from the old town.

Der AC Lübeck-Concordia e.V. konnte am 11.03. einen Vortrag zum 4. Heimatschutzregiment mit seinen Mitgliedern und vielen Gästen in einem separaten, bestens vorbereiteten Raum, durchführen. Der Service war hervorragend, Essen und Getränke ebenso.

We visited the restaurant for the second time as a group of four. The atmosphere was pleasant and of course the view was great. Unfortunately, this time too, all four dishes had poor taste and all three types of meat (I had the rib-eye, my husband had the lamb and our children had breaded pieces of chicken fillet) were unfortunately of poor quality. Unfortunately the food can only be described as "bad", which was unfortunate as it was my birthday and was really in the mood for a good meal. Even the children didn't like eating their breaded chicken pieces and I can't forgive them since I tried them too. Tastes stale, tough, gray; my steak (for €64) was dry, sour and not well enough streaky for a rib-eye. The wine we chose was very good, so next time we'll probably just stop by for a drink.

Das NewPort war früher ein super tolles Restaurant. Über die Zeit hat es sich in Richtung Mainstream entwickelt. Das ist super schade, da das besondere Flair uns super gefallen hat. Das Frühstück war genial, wird aber jetzt gar nicht mehr angeboten. Die Preise sind extrem gestiegen, sodass ein Brötchen vorweg und ein Kaffee danach die Preise in die Höhe treiben. Wer ein solideres und sauberes Restaurant sucht, ist hier aber super gut bedient und man hat einen super Blick auf die Stadt.

A great Valentine's dinner! Really great salmon and beetroot tartare!! Great bavette and a super dessert! Paired with drinks from Matthias - recommendation!

The evening starts with a cocktail. The bartender initially offers us standard cocktails, but then completely convinces us with his own creations. Main course roast beef with fried potatoes. Brilliant! The meat is perfectly medium and the fried potatoes are golden brown. However, instead of the classic remoulade, we prefer the housewife style sauce. We like it even better.

I went to the kitchen party with my wife on January 11, 2025. A really great event with a great selection of tasty food and drinks. I found it particularly exciting to be able to see some of the food being prepared. Small portions also made extensive tasting possible. There was also a chocolate stand, a wine stand, a beer stand with beer brewed in Lübeck and a large selection of spirits from two distilleries. For the networking that was also planned, I found the music to be a bit loud...at least while we were eating.

This restaurant is really recommended, everything is just right there, ambience, top service and very good food, an all-round nice place for a great evening.

....we were in good hands there for the festive occasion and really enjoyed the evening. The food was very good and a pasta that had become too spicy was immediately replaced with a freshly made one - with less chili! We will definitely eat there again!

On January 21, 2025 we visited the Newport restaurant in Lübeck and overall we were very satisfied. The entrecôte was simply delicious, and the side dishes and fries also tasted very good. Particularly noteworthy is the friendly and attentive service of the waiters. The evening ambience was beautiful with the shimmer of the water as we sat right by the window. It was a little too cold for us, but that's probably a matter of taste and part of the cozy atmosphere. Towards the end of our stay a large group of over 20 people arrived which significantly increased the noise level. We then called it a day, but overall it was a very nice visit. Thank you for the great evening!

As always, a great taste experience in a wonderful ambience with a view of the old town. Very reasonable value for money for this great kitchen.

Went for New Year eve's dinner for four. Good service from our server assigned. It was packed so therefore seemed a tad chaotic when we arrived for our slot that night. Shame that there was not any live music or band to add to the festive mood.

A culinary delight in a class of its own! The New Year's Eve menu was excellent from the first bite to the last. A composition for the senses, it was the best thing ever. A heartfelt compliment to the chefs and the young team. Love is at home here, you can feel it all around. Here the owners have made a dream come true. Without an appetizer we would have left hungry. For 32 euros for a veal liver, you can have a little more and also more side dish. Our guests from HH felt the same way with their dishes.

Es ist immer wieder ein Genuss, perfektes Essen gepaart mit einem tollen Ausblick auf die Lübecker Altstadt. Ein Service, der heute schwer zu finden ist. Waren rundum zufrieden.

Not even worth a star... I was with friends on our sailboat in Newport Harbor in May and all I can say is: Never again! After a great day, we were suddenly visited by the police because we were made accusations that were simply not true. It seems like employees of the adjacent restaurants complained about us. Instead of looking for a sensible solution, we were immediately confronted with an administrative offense report. The harbor master himself behaved anything but well. The behavior here is unprofessional and completely unacceptable. Among sailors, problems should be solved with words and a handshake, not with such underhanded actions. I really can't recommend this port and will never go to it again.

Very nicely located modern restaurant at the harbor with a great view. Service is great, as is the food, although it's upscale, but it's worth it. The selection of drinks, including cocktails, is very good and also price-wise, with the exception of the wine, which is noticeably overpriced.

A great restaurant with a great view over the museum harbor. Food is top class at fair prices. The children's meals in particular are lavish and very affordable. Great for an evening for two but also very suitable for families.

The Newport is absolutely worth seeing. Sitting in the glass annex is almost like sitting outside. The service is very attentive but not intrusive. A relaxed atmosphere immediately arises. The food is very good and the price-performance ratio is good to very good. What is striking is that there is an attempt throughout to give familiar dishes something new by adding new side dishes and spices. This works extremely well. Of course it's not exactly cheap. But not only in comparison to other restaurants of this quality, overall more than adequate. We have been there twice now and will definitely come back. In addition to the cool harbor atmosphere, the relaxed parking situation also contributes to this. Upate: We have been there several times and have always been thrilled.
