The Duchy in Düsseldorf

My trip was brightened by a wonderful visit to this lovely restaurant. I absolutely love the attention to detail — the service was friendly and polite. I was there with my daughter, and it’s very kid-friendly. I will definitely visit again on my next trip to Düsseldorf! Thank u!

Top food, very very friendly service!

"Unfortunately, I can't understand the many good reviews. The main courses were only served with a small salad - no other side dish. The menu is heavily dominated by salmon and offers little special. The desserts were carelessly placed next to each other and didn't seem very appealing. Overall, not worth 5 stars."

Fantastic atmosphere, great service and delicious food. Lobster soup is a must try!! And they have some brilliant collections of wine.

The Duchy offers incredible fine dining together with unparalleled service. We spent a wonderful evening at Duchy and were thrilled. The food is on a level that is unparalleled in Düsseldorf. We were able to enjoy our meal with a fantastic wine, which sommelier Vincent recommended to us. With his excellent knowledge and friendly manner, he rounded off the evening perfectly. We will definitely come back and are already looking forward to the next time!

Do not miss if in Dusseldorff. Deserves 3 Michelin Stars, including for outstanding service.

We had a reservation for 10am for breakfast. After waiting for 20 minutes, we decided that it wasn't worth continuing to wait for a free table as breakfast was offered until 11am. When we reported this, we were told rather unkindly that reservations were not actually accepted?! We will rethink our long-standing Christmas tradition of TeaTime.

Very nice, classic, cozy interior and very friendly service. But: We waited quite a long time for the order to be taken and therefore quite a long time for the first drink (15-30 minutes). We weren't given a drinks menu either - instead we were directly recommended the various types of champagne available, but unfortunately the glass for around €50 was very sparse. I personally don't like having to ask for every single drink. The hot drink we ordered was no longer even lukewarm. The freshly squeezed juice tasted so unpleasantly sweet that it was unfortunately undrinkable for me. The risotto was at best good (it lacked something special in terms of taste - but the consistency was good) - but nothing more. But the salad was very good and more refined. However, I no longer wanted dessert. Maybe it will be better on the next visit - otherwise it was really very cozy and the meat dish my companion was supposed to have been tasty too.

A truly upscale store. I dared to try the schnitzel, but unfortunately the batter had swelled up and looked like a croquette. The taste was a little too buttery. The waiter was so arrogant that he poured extra champagne and shaved the white truffle off the risotto, making it difficult to pay the bill. But it was fun!

Overall ok experience waiter did not understand that the portion ordered was small and gave me a full portion meal . Did not wanted to argue with them . Food was tasty but lack of communication . Also sitting arrangement was not followed . I was given a table which was not to my liking .

Nice restaurant with fine culinary discoveries, never disappointed. We have been dining here on and off for years. Always friendly professional service in a pleasant atmosphere. The fasant could probably have profited from something else than champagne-sauerkraut being added. A different more flavorful side would have been beneficial. Congrats to the whole team for delivering another nice experience.

There's nothing to complain about, great as a hotel guest if you don't feel like changing location, but also very good as an external visitor. The menu is varied and yet every dish is of very high quality. Wine list good, value for money okay.

A very beautiful place with a nice, cozy atmosphere and great aesthetic vibes. It prepares you for a fine dining experience and it stays true to its mission. We wanted however, a more typical German menu, but we settled fine with the options available in the menu. I would like to especially mention the service level that was great. Eric that served us, was the most pleasant person we met during our stay in Dusseldorf, very polite and always with a smile on his face, eager to provide info and recos for us. I would definitely suggest the restaurant to anyone that is seeking a more refined food experience, complemented with an outstanding service level.

It’s giving real housewives of Düsseldorf vibes. Food and drinks are lovely however the service is lacking, given the premium in price. Our experience was good however we left disappointed, expectations were not met.

Beautiful meal in a lovely setting. The duck with red cabbage and chestnuts was Christmas on a plate - delicious!

Service very personable and friendly. Unfortunately, the quality of the food has declined massively in the past few months. This week I had a venison ragout that was so tough and dry that it should never have left the kitchen.

The food and wines were delicious. The room was just stunning old school Germany. It was my first time in Dusseldorf and I enjoyed it all. The service was attentive. I was so full from dinner I wanted a smaller version of the dessert that I chose and they gave me what I asked for. I would definitely go back.

Very nice and dignified (and also expensive) restaurant in the top hotel Breidenbacher Hof. Upscale bistro cuisine at an excellent level. Highly recommend the beef tartar and the ceviche.

Waiters forgot to bring my cocktail - even after 2 reminders. There was a very noisy party in the main restaurant with loud speeches and disruptive laughter for two hours. We felt they should have been in a private room. The restaurant is very pretty and the food is amazing. Best schnitzel and salmon I’ve had for a long time (and we dine often in London, Paris, New York and Vienna).

Amazing atmosphere, excellent food and perfect service ...starting from appetizer each food we had was a delightful journey... i had schnitzel in numerous famous places including figlmüller in vienna but this one was another level... definitely will visit again

Very good for breakfast and the buffet is varied We go there often and the atmosphere and service is great The employee called "Nduè" is always very friendly and in a good mood The prices are about high and the portions at dinner are quite small (especially salmon fillet) but tasty, very nice and you get everything you want

A Remarkable beautiful hôtel ! Top lobby ,great cigar room , ambiance of great times. But....restaurant .... You expect top , but reality... you See it is "like" Not at all what you expect. When you are proposes baked Potato and get slices of oily potatoes...when vegetsbles look salade are tired....like stayed long , or toi long jours marinated in advance.... It is not high end kitchen....

We ate at The Duchy in Düsseldorf last week and were fascinated by the beautiful ambience as well as the competence of the service and the quality of the food. We'll definitely be back. Great service!

When in Düsseldorf you must dine at the Duchy. The hospitality is excellent as is the food. The Breidenbacher Hof hotel is one of the best accommodations I’ve experienced, so if you are staying at the hotel it’s easy to choose this restaurant. I also recommend having a drink in the bar next to the restaurant which is open Thursday-Sunday. They have a very good pianist there and the drinks are excellent. The staff makes you feel like you’re at home. There is also a cigar lounge attached to the bar if that’s something you enjoy.

I come here very often, service is always great! Staff super friendly Well, where should I start: Starters are actually all recommended... no matter whether it's lobster soup or burrata or or or I often eat Wiener Schnitzel as my main course (I just love it). Delicious food in a beautiful setting. The service was super friendly and the duck was probably the best I have ever eaten in my life. The "gimmick" with The Duchess walking around as if she were the owner of the restaurant and was born in 1850 will not appeal to everyone, but we found it amusing.

Incredible cuisine! Friendly staff 👍 It was a very enjoyable dinner for us. You should definitely try asparagus. Prices are a little high, but definitely worth it. The entrance is from inside the hotel.

A luxury restaurant with a relaxed feeling, the staff very attentive and nice, they gave amazing recommendations which we took, and even let them surprise us with the dessert choices. All the food was fresh and delicious, not mentioning the caviar and the sea food but something as simple as a potato soup can be outstanding :) Special thanks to Ndue who was very attentive, witty, funny but professional and of great help!

Ganz besonders hervorheben möchte ich zum einen die äußerst freundlich und kompetenten Mitarbeiter, und auf der anderen Seite auch das hervorragende Essen. Sowohl die klassischen Gerichte, als auch ganz besonders das Ceviche waren echt fantastisch zubereitet und abgeschmeckt. Eine Benchmark, was den Gastronomiebereich angeht.

Had ordered a table for our wedding anniversary. Very nice table, nicely set and very friendly welcome. Food was very good, chanterelles a bit salty. Restaurant highly recommended.

Update and as already rated on the reservation platform: Still highly recommended. The truly homemade hollandaise sauce for asparagus is a true poem. The service was extremely friendly and personable. Not stiff, but appropriately loose.

The Duchy was our last stop before heading back home to the states and it exceeded my expectations. From the location, the ambiance, the service we received and the food. We finished our beautiful dinner with some cocktails at the bar and it was a perfect ending to our perfect dinner.

I hardly ever write a review. After traveling for work in multiple countries - Tonight I just wanted a dinner that had good food, a great wait staff and peaceful atmosphere. This was the place. I was a party of 1 and Uli? Was amazing - the food great and i was able to browse the internet without distractions. If ever I am back in Germany this is my first stop. Thank you for the best evening.

Excellent attentive wait staff. Varied menu based on seasonal specialties. A good choice for business or social meals - better than many meals in Paris!

Our dinner was an excelllent experience, with good service, tasty food and good drinks in a wonderful setting. I only have 1 important comment: some of my colleagues ordered a steak and requested it to be baked either "medium rare" or "medium". We noticed that all those steaks were baked too far. One of them was almost "well done". We notified the servant of this, but we received no suggestion how this could be solved. As all the other food is of such a high level, we are a little bit surprised that the steaks were not baked properly. Especially when it costs 60 € per steak.

A great evening with brilliantly friendly , knowledgeable service and excellent food. I had not realised when I booked it that it was in a very nice traditional posh hotel but it did not feel at all like a Hotel restaurant. It over delivered and I will be back!

Wir waren zu dritt am Abend hier um meinen Geburtstag zu feiern. Das Restaurant ist sehr schön, das Personal überaus freundlich. Eine Wiederholung steht trotzdem nicht an, das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis passt nicht. 7 € für eine kleine Kugel Eis und 4,50 € für einen Kleks Sahne, nur als Beispiel sind einfach nicht mehr adäquat. 24 € für einen Wildkräutersalat der zu 90 % aus Feldsalat besteht sollte dringend überdacht werden. Nett war ein kleiner Schokomousse Kuchen als Überraschung.

Tolles französisch-schickes Bistro-Ambiente, sehr gutes Essen - diesmal von Herrn Rotkohl gekocht. Gehobenes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Und endlich mal die nette Frau Duchy kennengelernt. Wir kommen wieder

Das Local ist sehr schön und das Personal sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Leider kulinarisch absolut nicht weiterzuempfehlen. Preis- Leistung stimmen hier ganz und gar nicht.

First, I think that there's some unwritten rule but pretty standard that if a customer doesn't like a dish (and didn't even take a second bite), and the waiter offers a replacement, it shouldn't be added to the bill? We were offered a replacement, as normally we would, and yet were charged for both appetizers. That's not a 5,4 or 3 star service. As for the food, we weren't overwhelmed. Not extremely tasty. Dishes were small. We actually left more hungry than we came in.
