Wir waren zum Frühstück da und es war alles gut. Das Essen war ausreichend, es gab jedoch nichts Besonderes. Alles war frisch und ausreichend vorhanden. Es war laut aufgrund der vielen Menschen und der Service war nicht ganz so schnell.

Leckeres und reichhaltiges Frühstücksbuffet. Für jeden Geschmack war etwas dabei.

Das Frühstücksbuffet war ganz nett. Auswahlt recht üppig, allerdings war für den Preis relativ viel nicht selber gemacht und obwohl wir zur Öffnung da waren nicht komplett frisch. Der Gouda war salzig. Die Bedienung war nett. Das ambiente schön. Allerdings war es trotz, dass wir unter der Woche da waren und es auch eher normal voll war, unheimlich laut.

Leider wurden teilweise nicht schnell genug nachgefüllt, so stand man manchmal mehrmals hintereinander an um dann wieder vor dem leeren Behälter zu stehen. Vermutlich hat es an Personal gefehlt. Der Service am Tisch war aber sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.

Das Fleisch war roh, wurde nochmal auf den Grill gelegt. Gemeinsames Essen war nicht möglich. Keinerlei Entgegenkommen des Restaurants. Ins gesamt waren die Wartezeiten extrem lang. Über eine Stunde bis zur Vorspeise, eine weitere Stunde für den Hauptgang. Insgesamt nicht zufriedenstellen für den Preis den man dort bezahlt

Always nice to visit every now and then. The atmosphere is chic-légère and the food is delicious. The menu has something for every taste. My all-time favorite is definitely the vanilla waffle, but the salads/bowls, sandwiches, homemade bread with dips or dishes from the weekly menu are also always impressive. And don't forget the Rhabatini. The service could be a bit more charming and quicker. And when it's full it's very loud; So not suitable for relaxed conversations. But apart from that, a recommendation.

The atmosphere and food are great! A cool spot to hang out either at day time or in the evening. Their spacious rooftop is awesome with a view over the Bielefeld inner city.

A restaurant in a very nice location (apart from the way you get there; the entrance is quite inconspicuous and until you leave the elevator you can't see much of the Bernstein's otherwise very beautiful furnishing style). But as high as the restaurant is, so are the prices. The food is good, but only good, as in "solid, it tastes good and looks good too" and not good, as in "Wow, that tastes absolutely amazing, totally appropriate for the price, I would go here I prefer to eat it every day!" The price also prevents you from ordering dessert and coffee even on a very nice evening. Yes, you have to pay for the beautiful furnishings, the staff, the rent and the location, but it still seems too expensive to me (and unfortunately to others too). Vegans (and of course vegans) don't necessarily have the widest range of dishes to choose from. It's great that you can have dinner until late at night, but unfortunately you had to wait longer for waitresses if you wanted to order something to drink.

It's no longer as good as it was, totally deteriorated

On my penultimate visit the food was very tasty, on my last visit I didn't try it. 😉

Great view over the roofs of Bielefeld. The food was delicious, but unfortunately the rump steak wasn't quite medium. The service should be more attentive and faster. But otherwise very nice.

Very nice location with a view over Bielefeld.

Not recommended. Waiting time for coffee crema and latte maciatto too long and both lukewarm. The price is not justified as there are nicer restaurants with a better atmosphere in Bielefeld. What is not understandable is turning on the heaters in midsummer. Music too loud.

We were there in a larger group as part of a family reunion on Sunday for the breakfast buffet: impressive views, a very pleasant selection (at a comparatively low price), and attentive and very friendly service! Bonus point: We also had a few small children with us (at quite a “stressful” age), which wasn’t a problem for anyone… For me it was the second visit there in a few years, and I would definitely consider the “Bernstein” as a safe bet for Sunday breakfast :-)

Cafe barcelona is better anyway.

Incredibly unfriendly staff and poor service. We had to wait a whopping 50 minutes for a simple milkshake! When we asked why it was taking so long, we were simply answered: “It’s not my problem.” No apology, no thought of service. Absolutely not recommended!

It's always nice to have breakfast here, but the wasp problem is extremely annoying. I don't know if there are options like oils or something similar, but you can't have breakfast in peace. I also think it's a real shame that 50% is taken for children aged 4 and over. What child eats so much for breakfast at that age? Ours might only manage a roll and OJ. It's also a real shame that not everyone understands that the buffet is a one-way street. It's already super tight and when two people have to squeeze past each other it's critical. The few more steps shouldn't be a problem.

Who doesn't live Bernstein's glad to see they haven't changed anything. Loved it

Top location, friendly and fast service and delicious food.

Einmalige Location und leckeres Essen. Punktabzug gibt es für die überhöhten Preise und den teilweise holprigen Service. Auch wenn es sehr voll ist, sollten leere Gläser und Tassen mitgenommen werden können, zumal, wenn man doch gerade am Tisch ist und sieht, dass dort noch alles steht.. Schließlich habe ich es entnervt selbst auf einen Abstelltisch geräumt. Ansonsten wurde alles sehr schnell gebracht- das Essen nach 5 Minuten- allerdings noch vor dem Aperitif… Wie gesagt, Service nett und bemüht, aber zu wenig mitdenkend und nicht genügend aufmerksam.

Sehr nettes und aufmerksames Personal. Das Essen ist hervorragend und frisch zubereitet. Das Ambiente ist einfach toll - über den Dächern von Bielefeld. Immer wieder gerne lade ich hierhin Gäste ein.

Ein sehr schönes Restaurant mit sehr leckerem Essen und grundsätzlich freundlichen Personal. Leider mussten wir nur sehr lange auf unser Essen warten und wurden nur sehr nebenbei bedient. Wir haben mehrmals länger als 20 Minuten auf einen Kellner gewartet.

Everything was great as always!

The restaurant is located in one of the higher buildings and is therefore not for people who have problems with height. The offer is ok - but more for “younger people”. The food is ok so far but due to the location it is more expensive than normal. The service, on the other hand, was very good!

Enjoy one of the house's many specialties high above the rooftops of Bielefeld - where can you do that? It was a really great evening with friends, the service was friendly and courteous

Yesterday at lunchtime the waitress came to the table with the bill. The bill was €14.10 and I gave €20 in cash and immediately afterwards she left without giving me the change. I was embarrassed to call her and ask what happened to my change. If she really needed the €6, she could ask me and I would give it to her.. Well, never there again...

The menu had a lot to offer, whether warm or cold. I liked the weekly menu. 🤤 The service(s) were attentive and friendly. That was special. 👌 The drinks were brought promptly. The food was fresh and delicious. All in all a successful break. If you like, you can sit outside on the roof terrace. I'm rarely in Bielefeld, but when I do I'd love to come back 😃

A great view above the roofs of Bielefeld! Good dishes with something for everyone. It's difficult to get a table spontaneously, you usually stand in front of the elevator and unfortunately wait far too long until someone notices you.

So the RECEPTION disaster... not even eye contact to signal that someone is about to take care of you! Ignorance instead... when we were brought to the table, arrogance was put very mildly! SHAME!!+

On Friday, August 2, 2024, the three of us were in Bernstein again for a long time. Online table reservations via “OpenTable” worked smoothly and were very intuitive to use. 🌴 The location has a relaxed atmosphere with the roof terrace, the music volume was set just right (you could have a reasonable conversation). The wasps that circled around the tables almost everywhere until sunset were a little annoying. 🍔 The food (we had burgers, chicken breast with vegetables and rump steak) tasted excellent, came to the table hot and was just the right portion size. 🤤 🍸The drinks are impressive, but fluctuate between balanced in taste and monotonously lame. Overall, there is still room for improvement, although there was nothing to complain about with classics like the “Old Fashioned” or the “Whiskey Sour”. 🍽 The service was absolutely top class! 💯 The staff was attentive, charming, communicative and always had a smile on their faces, even as the terrace became more and more crowded towards the evening. 💪 Conclusion: An all-round successful evening that we will definitely repeat. Thanks to the entire Bernstein team. 🫶

Perfect place with amazing food!

Speechless! This restaurant cannot be recommended in any way and you will NEVER see ME here again. It started at the reception, the service is visibly overwhelmed and simply can't cope with the many customers. The food was so bad and the atmosphere was simply not enjoyable. There were no menus at our table and we had to wait a long time for everything... Speechless! NEVER AGAIN

Great restaurant, food is great, service leaves a lot to be desired

The roof terrace is really nice. Unfortunately there are really a lot of wasps there. The staff wasn't very accommodating when there was a wasp in the drink (the Bernstein could actually have noticed something from the competitors) and the food was rather normal. Cocktails are recommended.

Very nice restaurant above the rooftops of Bielefeld. Great roof terrace, nice staff. Unfortunately very expensive. However, I would like to exclude the Mirday card from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Good quality of food and reasonable price/performance ratio. However, why a pure green salad bowl with a small amount of beetroot, a few pomegranate seeds thrown in and otherwise just green leaf lettuce has to cost €15.90 is quite puzzling. Especially since any ingredient, such as B. turkey breast strips, cost €7.90. Also a blackberry spritzer, served in a preserving jar and filled to the brim with ice and some blackberry juice, for €5.60 is overpriced in my opinion. So conclusion: nice location with good weather. Otherwise there is something like that everywhere. Food good, but nothing outstanding. Breakfast should be very good. I've had the buffet myself and it's no different from other competitors. Everything is a bit overpriced, except for the lunch menu 😀 All in all: visit once and take a look for yourself.

Super nice location with a beautiful view over Bielefeld. Unfortunately, the waiting time for the ordered food is really far too long at 80 minutes.

Super Auswahl am Frühstücksbuffet und super Atmosphäre über den Dächern von Bielefeld

Von sechs Speisen konnten zwei Gerichte nicht überzeugen. Der Veggie Burger war mit viel zu viel Pesto getränkt und die Garnelen Spaghetti waren nicht mal "al dente". Wartezeit auf die Speisen von 80 Minuten halte ich für deutlich zu lange. Es dauerte 15 Minuten bis alle Speisen am Tisch waren und 20 Minuten bis alle Getränke am Tisch waren. Die Vorspeisen Platte ist sehr zu empfehlen was die Qualität und die Quantität betrifft. Die argentinischen Medaillons sind okay. Das Ambiente im Bernstein ist im Innen- als auch im Aussenbereich absolut sehenswert.

The terrace is impressive. The view in the 2nd row could only be enjoyed to a limited extent. Our seating position turned out to be a bit unfortunate. Since there wasn't enough distance from the neighboring table, the full plate squeezed past me and I was very worried that the whole thing would end up on my head. I also found it unpleasant (even if I didn't want to) to be pushed by conditions and to hear the conversations from the neighboring table. I have to be honest: I wasn't impressed by the food. I wouldn't recommend bruschetta (the bread was too bad, not toasted, the tomato salad was poorly seasoned, there was a lot of skimping on olive oil!) I imagined Thai soup to be different, it was somehow not harmonious. Chicken cubes were too dominant. Bread with it was the same as with the bruschetta! The sugar snap peas seem to be a favorite of the chef. There was plenty of it in my companion's dish too. Rosè wine Primitivo was an excellent choice.

Das Essen war sehr schlecht, ich habe noch nie so einen schlechten Ceasar Salad gegessen, das Dressing war einfach nur Mayonese, viel zu fettig.

Good food and drink options, friendly staff, and the rooftop views are phenomenal. They do have light blankets on site so if you end up getting chilly and didn’t bring a jacket you can warm yourself up

The two of us were there for breakfast. We had reserved, but we were still offered free choice of seats. The buffet was balanced and there was something for everyone. The outdoor dining area on the 5th floor is spacious and offers a great view over Bielefeld. Value for money was absolutely given and the staff were very nice and attentive. Definitely a recommendation

We sat outside when the weather was nice, late in the weekday afternoon. Although not many tables were occupied, one drink was forgotten and one of two main courses ordered was wrong. In each case an apology was made and the wrong dish was replaced. The food was ok.

The view is uplifting compared to the dullness of the city. Mr. Waiter did not manage to accompany him to an empty table, banana wheat beer somehow compensates. Sweet potato pommes fini but the sauce was stolen from the fiery one. Serve the nervous ones slowly. Expensive too

The restaurant is attractively designed and the food is acceptable. However, we had to wait 30 minutes before we were served by a waiter. We also had to wait a long time for the food and drinks. In addition, the prices there are relatively high.

The location and concept are pretty unique in Bielefeld, the ambience with the “rooftop” stands out here, of course! Sitting outside in summer is wonderful, but also popular, so there aren't always tables available. In the winter I only sit indoors at the tables next to the bar. Personally, the main area is too narrow for me, you can't have a quiet conversation or you can clearly hear the conversations of the neighboring tables. So pay attention to where you sit... Service was nice and attentive, sometimes a bit chaotic, at least when it was full. Price-performance ratio is right, yes the prices are a bit high, but the food has always been good and of course you also pay for the location. All in all, I like coming here, even if not often and only at selected tables ;)

Super Besuch zum Feierabend bei Sonnenschein auf der Dachterrasse

Der Service war unterirdisch, unsere zugeteilte Bedienung hat unsere Bestellung vergessen aufzunehmen, sodass Gäste die nach uns kamen schon vorher was hatten und eine Kollegin hat uns dann übernommen. Unsere Getränke kamen sehr spät und beim abkassieren hat sie uns auch vergessen, was sie dann auch zugegeben hat. Preis/Leistung finde ich den Laden wirklich nicht schlecht und das Essen war auch gut, nur die Brötchen waren nicht ganz knackig und etwas weich.

I just don't like it... a lot of snobs in my opinion... the food is quite expensive but it's not really that tasty either. The selection of draft beer is extremely limited. We were there as a group and the staff organized it quite well.

The restaurant "The Bernstein" in downtown Bielefeld is located on the upper floor of a taller building. It also features an outdoor area on a rooftop terrace. The food was okay 👌 and the portions were sufficient. The view is nice, but the ambience in the restaurant is nothing special. The selection of dishes is okay 👌 and everyone should find something. The prices are in the upper range. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Special requests were gladly taken into account. It's worth a visit.

It was my first time drinking Aperol Spritz and it was so delicious. Although it was on the 5th floor, there were clouds next to it.

The restaurant is a real discovery. Very tasty, freshly prepared food. Nice atmosphere with a fantastic view, extremely friendly staff. I was particularly impressed by the extremely friendly treatment of disabled guests. Also plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians.

Ich habe das Frühstücksbuffet besucht und wurde leider enttäuscht. Die Brötchen schmeckten alt und waren bröslig. Zudem musste ich sehr lange auf die Heissgetränke warten. Insgesamt haben die Mitarbeitenden gestresst gewirkt. Der Besuch ist nicht empfehlenswert.

Ich habe 45 min auf mein Frühstück gewartet und habe es bekommen, nachdem meine Begleitungen bereits fertig waren. Das vegane Rührei war eher eine klebrige, undefinierbare Masse, die zwar bereits nach etwa 20-25min kam, ohne den Rest des Frühstücks. Es wäre definitiv kalt gewesen, hätte ich mit dem Essen noch gewartet. Geschmeckt hat mir das gesamte Frühstück nicht. Allerdings muss ich sagen, dass ich es letzten Endes aufs Haus bekommen habe, weil es sooo lange gedauert hat. Das Buffet, welches meine Begleitungen gewählt haben, scheint insgesamt zwar eine große Auswahl zu beinhalten, aber war sehr "abgegrabbelt". Die Atmosphäre ist ganz schön, es war aber auch recht voll. Die Lautstärke hielt sich aber in Grenzen. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis finde ich nicht gerechtfertigt. Ich komme leider so schnell nicht wieder.

It has a great view. Modern and nice atmosphere. Food was okay, but there is no way that I recommend the homemade Eistee because it was nothing but icy water!

We actually enjoyed visiting Bernstein. We were there again last night. We waited for 25 minutes until we finally went to the service staff ourselves to point out our order. The waitress came without a note or pen, which we found strange. Drinks came to the table after 10 minutes. We had to wait another 55 minutes for the food. When we wanted to get up and leave after a long wait and pointed out for the third time that we hadn't received any food, we were told that the food would come in 3 minutes and the drinks were on the house. But we didn't want to break the bank, we just wanted to deal sensibly. After 10 minutes the food came. Service staff are also not attentive at all and are snooty. A pure disappointment!

It was very, very loud and echoey. The service was often a long time coming and always forgot something, but was otherwise very friendly. Unfortunately, the food was very bland, the selection was limited and standard. Overall a slightly better cocktail bar. The view was great.

Nice atmosphere above the rooftops of Bielefeld. As a team evening we had great and active service here. The food was really tasty, unfortunately the burgers and fries were cold. But it's a challenge with 14 people eating at the same time. I rejected the repeated suggestion that improvements would be made (i.e. probably a new meal). Here too, the team tried professionally to ensure satisfaction. Long story: gladly again.

Service questionable from some waiters. You are greeted with the words “That means good evening” after you say “Hello”. Drinks are good, cuisine nothing earth-shattering. Without the roof terrace it would be below average for Bielefeld restaurants/cafés, so a recommendation in summer with the right staff.

The terrace is nice, the inside of the shop is also pretty. You can sit comfortably outside, there are heaters and wool blankets. One can certainly argue about the energy waste of the spotlights. Unfortunately, there were an extremely large number of smokers spread across the entire terrace and, as a non-smoker, there was basically nowhere to sit and eat in peace, which was a shame and, given the huge terrace, it wasn't entirely understandable why it wasn't divided up. Our waitresses were all friendly, but at times rather inattentive and we often had to wait a long time to order something. The drink prices are a little more expensive, but okay for the location. Unfortunately, what didn't work for us were the burgers (we ordered both). For burgers they were comparatively expensive. The fries were very good and totally crispy, and the roll was also great. But the patty tasted like it had been thawed and was kind of dry and bland. The burger was drowning in a rather tasteless sauce and there wasn't really anything on it that had any flavor. The one with goat cheese was slightly better, but there was still a lot of room for improvement, especially with the meat. So overall it was very expensive for not particularly good food. Certainly okay for drinking and snacking.

We celebrated our birthday wonderfully on the rooftops of Bielefeld with excellent food and drink.

It's not possible to visit Bielefeld and not have been to The Bernstein. Everything perfect!!!!

I arrived at 11 15 am, took 20 minutes until someone asked for my order - I was only able to order a drink since the kitchen is closed, its now 12 am and still no drink. Decided to leave. Mind you the restaurant was almost completely empty. Not worth the price, even though the view is great.

You have to find the entrance, but then you will be rewarded for it. The welcome is friendly and the atmosphere is nice, including a view of the open kitchen. We sat outside on the terrace with a great view of Bielefeld - it's worth it... About half of the seats outside were occupied, I would describe the noise level as normal. What I ordered came quickly and at reasonable prices. The dishes were beautifully prepared and tasted very good.

Great place to linger above the roofs of Bielefeld, it's worth a visit.

Roof terrace is great - in the summer you can end the evening wonderfully.
