It was easy to call at 6 p.m. and get a table for 9 people on a Sunday. The food was delicious and the staff was super friendly. We were just passing through but if we are in Bielefeld again we would like to come back.

Reserved a table at 7:00 p.m. We had to wait half an hour for this. We then had to wait another hour for drinks. Food came again a good 1 1/2 hours later. So we had to wait a good 2 1/2 hours for the food. It was a shame because the mood at the bachelorette party was pretty low due to the long waiting time. We won't visit again.

Good food, great view and nice service

I reserved a table for my birthday and clarified everything in advance. Of course I was willing to pay a fee for the dishes, even for a small celebration. What was shocking, however, was the service!!!!!!!!!!! We were a group and were asked to leave the table after only about 1.5 hours - despite my reservation probably two weeks ago and the consumption of food and drinks. That's what I call generous hospitality! 😟 When I finally asked to bring the cake (which was also pre-arranged), I had to ask more than five times, with different waitresses. Nobody really took it seriously until I had to complain (unfortunately it wouldn't be possible to do something that I would have to save on my birthday!!) Some guests had come especially from Bielefeld and ended up having to leave in frustration - but the delay was the only thing they could really enjoy! My conclusion: stay away! Unfortunately, I will never plan an event or even have a coffee in this restaurant. I highly recommend looking elsewhere where service isn't such a mystery!

Unfortunately the service was extremely poor! We were there very regularly. However, the last few times we had to wait an extremely long time to order and for the drinks and food. The service was apologetic, totally snooty and completely listless! The location doesn't manage to make up for it either. As you can hear, I'm not the only one who has had such experiences. It's a shame, it used to be a really great shop. Hopefully that will change again at some point!

Don’t order Tomato Soup. It’s so bad. It feels like they only put tomato paste and it tastes like chemicals. We couldn’t finish it.

The restaurant lives from its ambience, unfortunately the quality of the food is not good enough for the price asked. We were there with a group and had to wait more than 2 hours for the food despite pre-ordering.

At least for me the two tables are too close together. Kind of looks like a train station lobby. Certainly something different on the terrace in summer

You really can't complain about the food. Is very very good. The service, however, was subpar. 45 minutes to the first drink. Nobody asks if you want anything else. Waiting forever to pay... Unbelievable.

We had breakfast there at the beginning of the week. We chose the buffet and I have to say, the decision was exactly right. The price was a little more than if I had ordered a “ready-made breakfast”, but I was able to get the right amount of cold cuts from the extensive selection presented. From rice pudding, cereals, breads, various rolls, cheese, sausage, scrambled eggs in 2 variations, even fried eggs, sausages and fruit salads, everything was available in abundance. The view over Bielefeld is worth it. We'll definitely be back.

Wir waren zum Frühstück da und es war alles gut. Das Essen war ausreichend, es gab jedoch nichts Besonderes. Alles war frisch und ausreichend vorhanden. Es war laut aufgrund der vielen Menschen und der Service war nicht ganz so schnell.

Leckeres und reichhaltiges Frühstücksbuffet. Für jeden Geschmack war etwas dabei.

Great location with attractive furnishings and good views. The price level is already high, but where is that currently not the case? Unfortunately I didn't like the service that much. The waitress was nice, but the place was full and there weren't enough of them, so she only had time to take the order and then show up again to collect the money. Ordering a second round of drinks was not possible.

Das Frühstücksbuffet war ganz nett. Auswahlt recht üppig, allerdings war für den Preis relativ viel nicht selber gemacht und obwohl wir zur Öffnung da waren nicht komplett frisch. Der Gouda war salzig. Die Bedienung war nett. Das ambiente schön. Allerdings war es trotz, dass wir unter der Woche da waren und es auch eher normal voll war, unheimlich laut.

An excellent upscale restaurant with a good location in the middle of Bielefeld. Good selection of steaks and burgers, as well as drinks. Top quality and service. The view is magnificent, both from inside and from the roof terrace. Here you are higher than the surrounding buildings. Access via an elevator directly to the restaurant.

Fantastic view in the heart of Bi...but: currently very disappointed. I ordered a very simple drink: homemade lemonade 0.4l for €5.90. With 3 gentle pulls through the straw the drink was empty. 3/4 of the glass was filled with finely crushed ice... So I sat thirsty in front of a glass of expensive frozen water that wasn't ready to melt either. For dinner I ordered a red Thai curry (?) soup for 10 euros. It came lukewarm (!) in a mini bowl with lots of bean sprouts... Actually it was cool, clear broth. Are you serious? Please think about that! You are not in Piazza San Marco in Venice. View or not... you really didn't pick me up. I mean, what's the problem with serving soup at least warm, if not hot? Is tap water so expensive that you can't even serve a sip syrup with 0.4 liters of water? I feel ripped off. No, I didn't complain. I don't discuss something like that on site and then demand something new.

The view is great! The breakfast buffet was just breakfast. Nothing extraordinary. Some things ran out quickly and replenishment took a while. The elevator directly up to the restaurant is a plus for people with weak feet, but the steep stairs to the toilets are a minus. My mother, who is over 80 years old, struggled a lot with this.

I am extremely disappointed with the service at the Bernstein restaurant. Even though the restaurant was almost empty, the receptionist was incredibly rude and unwelcoming. Instead of being offered one of the many available, more private tables, we were seated uncomfortably close to other guests, even though the terrace was almost empty. To make matters worse, a waiter argued with us about our drink order and claimed we had ordered something else. It wasn't until another waitress intervened that his mistake was confirmed. This poor service is absolutely unacceptable, especially in such a nice restaurant. This isn't the first time we've experienced poor service here, and it's enough to make us no longer want to come back or recommend the restaurant. Unless these issues are addressed seriously, Bernstein will continue to lose loyal customers like us.

Very nice atmosphere with an inviting weekly menu that is also cheaper until 5 p.m. The limos are also highly recommended. The selection is very varied and the portions are justified for the price.

Leider wurden teilweise nicht schnell genug nachgefüllt, so stand man manchmal mehrmals hintereinander an um dann wieder vor dem leeren Behälter zu stehen. Vermutlich hat es an Personal gefehlt. Der Service am Tisch war aber sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.

Das Fleisch war roh, wurde nochmal auf den Grill gelegt. Gemeinsames Essen war nicht möglich. Keinerlei Entgegenkommen des Restaurants. Ins gesamt waren die Wartezeiten extrem lang. Über eine Stunde bis zur Vorspeise, eine weitere Stunde für den Hauptgang. Insgesamt nicht zufriedenstellen für den Preis den man dort bezahlt

The atmosphere and food are great! A cool spot to hang out either at day time or in the evening. Their spacious rooftop is awesome with a view over the Bielefeld inner city.

I had dinner there with my girlfriend yesterday. The food wasn't that tasty, unfortunately the waitress wasn't that friendly. The only great thing there is the beautiful view over the inner city. When it comes to food, I'll go to another restaurant and let the real professionals cook!!!

Always nice to visit every now and then. The atmosphere is chic-légère and the food is delicious. The menu has something for every taste. My all-time favorite is definitely the vanilla waffle, but the salads/bowls, sandwiches, homemade bread with dips or dishes from the weekly menu are also always impressive. And don't forget the Rhabatini. The service could be a bit more charming and quicker. And when it's full it's very loud; So not suitable for relaxed conversations. But apart from that, a recommendation.

A restaurant in a very nice location (apart from the way you get there; the entrance is quite inconspicuous and until you leave the elevator you can't see much of the Bernstein's otherwise very beautiful furnishing style). But as high as the restaurant is, so are the prices. The food is good, but only good, as in "solid, it tastes good and looks good too" and not good, as in "Wow, that tastes absolutely amazing, totally appropriate for the price, I would go here I prefer to eat it every day!" The price also prevents you from ordering dessert and coffee even on a very nice evening. Yes, you have to pay for the beautiful furnishings, the staff, the rent and the location, but it still seems too expensive to me (and unfortunately to others too). Vegans (and of course vegans) don't necessarily have the widest range of dishes to choose from. It's great that you can have dinner until late at night, but unfortunately you had to wait longer for waitresses if you wanted to order something to drink.

Not recommended. Waiting time for coffee crema and latte maciatto too long and both luke warm. The price is not justified as there are nicer restaurants with a better atmosphere in Bielefeld. What is not understandable is turning on the heaters in midsummer. Music too loud.

We were there in a larger group as part of a family reunion on Sunday for the breakfast buffet: impressive views, a very pleasant selection (at a comparatively low price), and attentive and very friendly service! Bonus point: We also had a few small children with us (at quite a “stressful” age), which wasn’t a problem for anyone… For me it was the second visit there in a few years, and I would definitely consider the “Bernstein” as a safe bet for Sunday breakfast :-)

Cafe barcelona is better anyway.

Incredibly unfriendly staff and poor service. We had to wait a whopping 50 minutes for a simple milkshake! When we asked why it was taking so long, we were simply answered: “It’s not my problem.” No apology, no thought of service. Absolutely not recommended!

It's always nice to have breakfast here, but the wasp problem is extremely annoying. I don't know if there are options like oils or something similar, but you can't have breakfast in peace. I also think it's a real shame that 50% is taken for children aged 4 and over. What child eats so much for breakfast at that age? Ours might only manage a roll and OJ. It's also a real shame that not everyone understands that the buffet is a one-way street. It's already super tight and when two people have to squeeze past each other it's critical. The few more steps shouldn't be a problem.

Sehr nettes und aufmerksames Personal. Das Essen ist hervorragend und frisch zubereitet. Das Ambiente ist einfach toll - über den Dächern von Bielefeld. Immer wieder gerne lade ich hierhin Gäste ein.

Einmalige Location und leckeres Essen. Punktabzug gibt es für die überhöhten Preise und den teilweise holprigen Service. Auch wenn es sehr voll ist, sollten leere Gläser und Tassen mitgenommen werden können, zumal, wenn man doch gerade am Tisch ist und sieht, dass dort noch alles steht.. Schließlich habe ich es entnervt selbst auf einen Abstelltisch geräumt. Ansonsten wurde alles sehr schnell gebracht- das Essen nach 5 Minuten- allerdings noch vor dem Aperitif… Wie gesagt, Service nett und bemüht, aber zu wenig mitdenkend und nicht genügend aufmerksam.

Ein sehr schönes Restaurant mit sehr leckerem Essen und grundsätzlich freundlichen Personal. Leider mussten wir nur sehr lange auf unser Essen warten und wurden nur sehr nebenbei bedient. Wir haben mehrmals länger als 20 Minuten auf einen Kellner gewartet.

Everything was great as always!

The restaurant is located in one of the higher buildings and is therefore not for people who have problems with height. The offer is ok - but more for “younger people”. The food is ok so far but due to the location it is more expensive than normal. The service, on the other hand, was very good!

Enjoy one of the house's many specialties high above the rooftops of Bielefeld - where can you do that? It was a really great evening with friends, the service was friendly and courteous

Yesterday at lunchtime the waitress came to the table with the bill. The bill was €14.10 and I gave €20 in cash and immediately afterwards she left without giving me the change. I was embarrassed to call her and ask what happened to my change. If she really needed the €6, she could ask me and I would give it to her.. Well, never there again...

The menu had a lot to offer, whether warm or cold. I liked the weekly menu. 🤤 The service(s) were attentive and friendly. That was special. 👌 The drinks were brought promptly. The food was fresh and delicious. All in all a successful break. If you like, you can sit outside on the roof terrace. I'm rarely in Bielefeld, but when I do I'd love to come back 😃

A great view above the roofs of Bielefeld! Good dishes with something for everyone. It's difficult to get a table spontaneously, you usually stand in front of the elevator and unfortunately wait far too long until someone notices you.

On Friday, August 2, 2024, the three of us were in Bernstein again for a long time. Online table reservations via “OpenTable” worked smoothly and were very intuitive to use. 🌴 The location has a relaxed atmosphere with the roof terrace, the music volume was set just right (you could have a reasonable conversation). The wasps that circled around the tables almost everywhere until sunset were a little annoying. 🍔 The food (we had burgers, chicken breast with vegetables and rump steak) tasted excellent, came to the table hot and was just the right portion size. 🤤 🍸The drinks are impressive, but fluctuate between balanced in taste and monotonously lame. Overall, there is still room for improvement, although there was nothing to complain about with classics like the “Old Fashioned” or the “Whiskey Sour”. 🍽 The service was absolutely top class! 💯 The staff was attentive, charming, communicative and always had a smile on their faces, even as the terrace became more and more crowded towards the evening. 💪 Conclusion: An all-round successful evening that we will definitely repeat. Thanks to the entire Bernstein team. 🫶

Speechless! This restaurant cannot be recommended in any way and you will NEVER see ME here again. It started at the reception, the service is visibly overwhelmed and simply can't cope with the many customers. The food was so bad and the atmosphere was simply not enjoyable. There were no menus at our table and we had to wait a long time for everything... Speechless! NEVER AGAIN

Great restaurant, food is great, service leaves a lot to be desired

The roof terrace is really nice. Unfortunately there are really a lot of wasps there. The staff wasn't very accommodating when there was a wasp in the drink (the Bernstein could actually have noticed something from the competitors) and the food was rather normal. Cocktails are recommended.

Very nice restaurant above the rooftops of Bielefeld. Great roof terrace, nice staff. Unfortunately very expensive. However, I would like to exclude the Mirday card from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Good quality of food and reasonable price/performance ratio. However, why a pure green salad bowl with a small amount of beetroot, a few pomegranate seeds thrown in and otherwise just green leaf lettuce has to cost €15.90 is quite puzzling. Especially since any ingredient, such as B. turkey breast strips, cost €7.90. Also a blackberry spritzer, served in a preserving jar and filled to the brim with ice and some blackberry juice, for €5.60 is overpriced in my opinion. So conclusion: nice location with good weather. Otherwise there is something like that everywhere. Food good, but nothing outstanding. Breakfast should be very good. I've had the buffet myself and it's no different from other competitors. Everything is a bit overpriced, except for the lunch menu 😀 All in all: visit once and take a look for yourself.

Super nice location with a beautiful view over Bielefeld. Unfortunately, the waiting time for the ordered food is really far too long at 80 minutes.

Von sechs Speisen konnten zwei Gerichte nicht überzeugen. Der Veggie Burger war mit viel zu viel Pesto getränkt und die Garnelen Spaghetti waren nicht mal "al dente". Wartezeit auf die Speisen von 80 Minuten halte ich für deutlich zu lange. Es dauerte 15 Minuten bis alle Speisen am Tisch waren und 20 Minuten bis alle Getränke am Tisch waren. Die Vorspeisen Platte ist sehr zu empfehlen was die Qualität und die Quantität betrifft. Die argentinischen Medaillons sind okay. Das Ambiente im Bernstein ist im Innen- als auch im Aussenbereich absolut sehenswert.

The terrace is impressive. The view in the 2nd row could only be enjoyed to a limited extent. Our seating position turned out to be a bit unfortunate. Since there wasn't enough distance from the neighboring table, the full plate squeezed past me and I was very worried that the whole thing would end up on my head. I also found it unpleasant (even if I didn't want to) to be pushed by conditions and to hear the conversations from the neighboring table. I have to be honest: I wasn't impressed by the food. I wouldn't recommend bruschetta (the bread was too bad, not toasted, the tomato salad was poorly seasoned, there was a lot of skimping on olive oil!) I imagined Thai soup to be different, it was somehow not harmonious. Chicken cubes were too dominant. Bread with it was the same as with the bruschetta! The sugar snap peas seem to be a favorite of the chef. There was plenty of it in my companion's dish too. Rosè wine Primitivo was an excellent choice.

The view is uplifting compared to the dullness of the city. Mr. Waiter did not manage to accompany him to an empty table, banana wheat beer somehow compensates. Sweet potato pommes fini but the sauce was stolen from the fiery one. Serve the nervous ones slowly. Expensive too

We sat outside when the weather was nice, late in the weekday afternoon. Although not many tables were occupied, one drink was forgotten and one of two main courses ordered was wrong. In each case an apology was made and the wrong dish was replaced. The food was ok.

The two of us were there for breakfast. We had reserved, but we were still offered free choice of seats. The buffet was balanced and there was something for everyone. The outdoor dining area on the 5th floor is spacious and offers a great view over Bielefeld. Value for money was absolutely given and the staff were very nice and attentive. Definitely a recommendation

The restaurant is attractively designed and the food is acceptable. However, we had to wait 30 minutes before we were served by a waiter. We also had to wait a long time for the food and drinks. In addition, the prices there are relatively high.

The location and concept are pretty unique in Bielefeld, the ambience with the “rooftop” stands out here, of course! Sitting outside in summer is wonderful, but also popular, so there aren't always tables available. In the winter I only sit indoors at the tables next to the bar. Personally, the main area is too narrow for me, you can't have a quiet conversation or you can clearly hear the conversations of the neighboring tables. So pay attention to where you sit... Service was nice and attentive, sometimes a bit chaotic, at least when it was full. Price-performance ratio is right, yes the prices are a bit high, but the food has always been good and of course you also pay for the location. All in all, I like coming here, even if not often and only at selected tables ;)
