Really a great experience at Bernstein! The food was excellent – ​​fresh, creative and tasted great. I was particularly impressed by the relaxed yet lively atmosphere in the restaurant. The staff was attentive, friendly and well organized - you immediately feel welcome. A real highlight is the fantastic outdoor terrace with a view over the city – perfect for mild evenings. When I ordered, I initially found the prices to be drastically overpriced. I'm all the more surprised later when the food is served: the portions are actually generous and justify the price much better than I initially thought. The service is friendly, but I found it a bit overwhelmed at times; the woman was a bit inattentive and slightly rude when the house was full. The quality of the food is okay, but there is still room for improvement in terms of taste. The presentation is good. The drinks menu is varied. Overall, a nice restaurant with a great location and decent portions, which has a convincing atmosphere.

The breakfast buffet is great! The selection is excellent and it is always refilled quickly before something goes missing. Thanks to the many employees, you always have a contact person and you never have to wait long. Everyone is super nice and we always feel very comfortable here.

Spontaneously went to Bernstein for the first time this afternoon. Nice that there is an elevator. Very, very nice service, the food - "Königsberger" + "Alfredo di Manzo" (pasta with fillet tips, the rocket on top was even nicely dressed) - really very good, price-performance ratio, plus the great view - we'll definitely be back. Then we also test the cocktails.-)

Always goes for a drink in a nice atmosphere and a beautiful view! I've always had bad luck when it comes to eating. Sometimes the chicken was still raw inside, sometimes the fries were ice cold. I complained about food here for the first time in my life because I just couldn't eat it. The prices are definitely not cheap, e.g. €15 for a fries/currywurst. Depending on where you sit, it unfortunately smells a bit like a toilet. I still come here regularly for drinks, but unfortunately I no longer eat here.

Today we had lunch because we know Bernstein from earlier times. I had a rhubarb/thyme lemonade. A drink came that consisted of 80% ice cubes. I ordered the falafel dish from the lunch menu and my husband ordered the Madras chicken with curry. Two mini dishes came, I had three tablespoons of vegetables and my husband had a chicken cube in the dish. There can be no question of satiation. My husband complained about the minimal amount of meat. There was only a shrug of the shoulders from the waitress. A minimum level of appreciation would be an apology from the chef. So we won't be visiting Bernstein again. The absolutely empty restaurant at lunchtime also speaks volumes.

It was very nice, the selection at the buffet was standard and OK. Everything was fresh and it was always refilled promptly. Apparently they were understaffed. The service staff were always friendly. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great. But there's a point deducted for the dingy bathroom. This should be checked every hour. The handwashing sink had at least not been thoroughly cleaned during the week.

Unfortunately, more appearance than reality: Using my order of chicken involtini with spinach filling, potato gratin and ratatouille as an example. The chicken tasted warmed up and lukewarm, the ratatouille was a vegetable pan with tomato sauce (“Ratatouille is a braised vegetable stew..”) and the potato gratin was not gratinated and was just potato slices with sauce that tasted like convenience. Service was declining sharply despite the decreasing number of guests - we then went to the front to pay after waiting 20 minutes. Very nice atmosphere, excellent view over Bielefeld and the surrounding area. But unfortunately I had the impression that that was the only focus of the restaurant. We will definitely like to visit the bar again.

We arrived in a good mood, while our order was taken (5 drinks and also a large bottle of water) we initially waited about 40 minutes for our order. The order arrived with the wrong drink and a small bottle of water. We kindly pointed this out, after another waiting time of about 10 minutes a bald waiter came when we complained and explained that we shouldn't lie! It's rude to treat the guests like that, a friendly apology would have settled the matter instead there is discussion and the mood is brought down. Never again !

The food was super delicious! Beautifully prepared and a portion to fill you up. The service was also good. You are welcome here with children. There are high chairs, enough space for the stroller (sometimes right next to the table), colored pencils and a card for coloring and doodling. There are also children's meals. Extra requests such as no salt in the food or no crushed ice in the drink are taken into account and implemented as best as possible. We were absolutely satisfied and will definitely come back!

I really liked Bernstein, but the last time the service wasn't good at all. We were the last ones there in the evening, and I can understand if you want to go home at some point. However, the restaurant was still open for an hour (according to plan) and the other guests only left shortly beforehand. The waitress told us a good 5 minutes in advance that it was the last round, so I ordered another drink. When I got my drink, the heat lamps were turned off, the windbreak was raised (it was very cold) and then we were rudely told: "We're just waiting for you!". If you want to go home don't offer a last round? 😂 a cocktail isn't that easy to make and I hurried along. I didn't think we were going at all, and by the way, no one said goodbye when we left :) I thought it was a shame and it made me really angry.

So delicious! There were a lot of things: rolls of all kinds, croissants, many types of jam, honey, pancakes, scrambled eggs, jelly, vanilla cream, blueberry sauce and much more. The service was very friendly and it went very quickly. The toilets... ...smelled a lot, which I don't mind. The view is amazing! When you stand in front of the door, you can easily miss it... It's just a small sign that says "The Bernstein" on it.

Luxury prizes for hunger artists – and milkshake withdrawal! Anyone who has always wanted to experience what it feels like to be served bread in homeopathic cans in a high-class restaurant - welcome to Bernstein! I was graciously handed four mini slices of bread. Four! You might think I had ordered a tasting menu for sparrows. But the real highlight came later: I wanted to treat myself to a harmless milkshake more than an hour before closing time. But no! “It doesn’t exist anymore.” I'm sorry, what?! Is there a curfew on milk? Does the mixer burn out? I would understand if it was just before closing time, but over an hour before that is just weak. The best? The prices. Not only are they ambitious, they're right in their own galaxy. You should expect at least a little care and hospitality for what is served here. Instead, it feels like a challenge: “How little performance can you offer for as much money as possible?” Conclusion: If you like to pay a lot but get little - go ahead! Everyone else is better off going somewhere else.

I tried the vegan burger and it tasted horrible 💀 For 13.90 burger + fries, without a drink, this is quite expensive, especially if the food doesn't taste good!! The burger was simply smeared with a thick layer of pesto on both buns and topped with not so tasty fried vegetables, which apparently were only seasoned with green pesto. It just had no flavor other than pesto. Unfortunately, the fries were also too hard and cold. I had already been warned that the food here wasn't good, but I still wanted to try it and form my own opinion. I wish I had listened to the warning... I had actually ordered the homemade iced tea with my meal, but it only came after 50 minutes and we were finished eating 😂 my companion was able to get her cocktail after 10 minutes but the iced tea was still not ready after 40 minutes 🙄 When it came when we were finished, I rejected it. So I don't have to eat or drink here again. No thanks, there are much better restaurants there.

The ambience and service are great, and the food still has room for improvement despite the roof top. Maybe stick to cocktails and drinks and order burgers next time. The Vitello Tonnato is really a tip, while the prawn pan, Indian chicken curry and fish of the day are very well served with 3 stars.

I can't confirm the many reviews with only one star, but I can't understand 5 stars either. There were three of us in Bernstein today. The drinks were good, tasty and sufficient (not just crushed ice or ice cubes). The food was a good portion, nicely presented and tasty. Not outstanding (no star cuisine), but really okay for a “normal” restaurant. The service was very friendly throughout. But: why do I deduct stars? We sat at the table several times with empty glasses, even though there were enough staff present. The service really needs to be more attentive here. The owner is missing out on cash because we drank less than we wanted to order. The long wait for a waitress to wave over and ask for a drink was very annoying.

I particularly liked the quality of the ingredients and the atmosphere of the restaurant. The service was attentive and friendly. However, €37.80 for breakfast is quite expensive, so I give it 4 stars instead of 5. If the price were a little more moderate, it would be perfect. Still, overall a great experience!

The atmosphere is very good. The service is correct. In the summer it's cool to be on the terrace but there are a lot of bees and it loses its charm. So I recommend staying indoors. I have been there several times and during the week they have an affordable menu. The food depends on the day, sometimes I found it delicious and other times not worth it. You have to be lucky. Generally good, I must say, so I will go again.

We went there for dinner yesterday and were really disappointed. The beef fillet was very fatty and my pasta al caprese was just swimming in oil. The noodles were also very overcooked and more like a kind of porridge. In general, the food was relatively unseasoned, although that is probably a matter of taste. There wasn't really much of a choice of vegetarian options in the main course menu, but you can check that in advance if in doubt. The restaurant itself was incredibly crowded and really loud as the music on the speakers was really turned up. You have to talk very loudly to be able to hear each other across the table. The ambience is quite nice in terms of the view, but unfortunately in our opinion the price-performance ratio is not right. The service was also super slow and we were only able to order the food after 40 minutes after we explicitly asked the waitress about it. Overall, we really can't recommend it and won't go there again.

I've been to Bernstein a few times, I have to say the food was quite good. Drinks and ambience are good. But my highlight was the waiter Ziwa or Ziwar, friendly, top, fast and with great drink recommendations. Anyone who has waiters like this can be sure that the store is represented phenomenally.

Wir kommen aus dem Münsterland und haben vor unserem Bielefeld-Besuch das "The Bernstein" gebucht, und es war sehr schön. Der Service war sehr gut, das Essen sehr lecker und in der Mittagskarte vom Preis wirklich topp!

My girlfriend and her friends were with you this evening. The website says it's open until midnight. At 11 p.m. the unannounced question is asked “do you pay together or separately”. Wir waren zum Frühstücks Buffet da gewesen. Gute und leckere Auswahl, für jeden ist etwas dabei. Von kleinen Brötchen, Croissants, Müsli, verschiedene Wurst und Käsesorten, Salate, Eier in diversen Zubereitungen, Wurst und gebratener Speck, Pancakes, Milchreis, Obstsalat und kleine Desserts und jede Menge mehr. Das Service Personal ist sehr hilfsbereit und immer freundlich! Wir kommen definitiv wieder.

It was our first time at Bernstein and we really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The offer was extensive and diverse, from cold toppings to warm snacks to desserts, salads, fresh fruit and muesli. Everything looked fresh and lovingly prepared, including a lot of things homemade on site, such as the rice pudding cooked with whole vanilla beans, pancakes with blueberry compote and small desserts. The location and the staff were friendly and welcoming, the terrace is definitely an additional highlight in the summer that we would like to check out because we were there at the beginning of January. All in all a great place to enjoy and relax. A look at the normal menu for breakfast, lunch and evening and the cocktails and wine list with changing seasonal offers will make you want to come back again. 10/10

Wir waren das erste Mal im Bernstein und haben das Frühstücksbuffet sehr genossen. Das Angebot war reichhaltig und divers von kalten Belägen über warme Kleinigkeiten zu Desserts, Salaten, frischem Obst und Müsli. Alles sah frisch und liebevoll angerichtet aus, darunter vieles vor Ort selbstgemacht wie zB der Milchreis mit ganzen Vanilleschoten gekocht, Pancakes mit Blaubeerkompott und kleine Desserts. Die Location und das Personal waren freundlich und einladend, die Terrasse ist im Sommer bestimmt ein zusätzliches Highlight, das wir uns gerne noch ansehen, denn wir waren Anfang Januar dort. Alles in allem ein toller Ort zum Genießen und Entspannen. Auch ein Blick auf die normale Karte zum Frühstück, Mittag, Abend und die Cocktails und Weinkarte mit wechselnden saisonalen Angeboten machen Lust auf ein Wiedersehen. 10/10

Der Service war unterbesetzt und eher unfreundlich. Es wurde laut von Mitarbeitern telefoniert um interne technische Details zu klären. Wir mussten nach Butter fragen die am Buffet zunächst fehlte und dann gefroren war. Obwohl wir die erste halbe Stunde in einem sehr leeren Raum waren, bekamen wir einen Platz mit direkten Nachbarn. Unnötig. Preis-Leistung war insgesamt nicht mehr so gut wie früher. Wir werden darum zunächst nicht wieder kommen. Sehr sehr schade.

Called the restaurant directly, the employee apologized and it was passed on to the kitchen. No compensation. Nothing. There's no question about how we're doing right now. That was my last visit.

I was in Bielefeld today, December 28, 2024, and decided to have dinner at this restaurant, we were very satisfied. The atmosphere, the service and the food were above average, I suggest you visit if you come to Bielefeld

But I didn't know there was a sweatpants party up there on Saturday night. There were 40% of the guys running around in jogging suits (the ugly gray version with yellow spots). And the worst thing about it: the pants hung so far down that you saw things you didn't want to see. Then the food came right back up. So the audience was really bad. It's better to look for a bar/restaurant where clothing is at least a little important and not everyone, no matter how shabbily dressed, is seated just before Christmas.

I've had very good meals here a few times. But now I was very disappointed. My pasta with artichokes and vegetables was barely seasoned and tasted very bland. On the other hand, my companion's tuna steak was too salty. I hope that was just a blip.

Price performance doesn't fit at all. The food was just ok but not tasty, homemade soda was too sour. Service a disaster.

Staff and location good. Unfortunately the shop was a bit noisy and the Long Island Icetea for €15 was... well, after that you were sober again. So no recommendation for it, other drinks were also expensive but ok.
