The ASH Köln MesseCity in Köln

My visit to The ASH in Cologne was very pleasant. The atmosphere was cozy and I immediately felt at home. The food was very tasty, exactly to my taste. The cheap burger menu really convinced me. Overall, it was an enjoyable visit that I would happily recommend.

Nice restaurant, but 1 hour wait for burgers is incomprehensible.

My stay in TheAsh was really great. We were there on Valentine's Day where the tables were decorated with heart balloons. It was very busy so we had to wait a bit but the food was worth it. The cheeseburger was very good and the lava cake to round it off was just perfect. After dinner we were able to sit at the bar and enjoy a couple of cocktails 👍

I've had better steak somewhere else. Very dry & chewy. Service can definitely be improved. You also somehow had the feeling that the shop wanted to be more than it actually was... so you lost sight of the core business, i.e. steaks. But what works: The central surroundings and accessibility.

The Ash, franchise. Not the most exclusive location in Cologne at Deutzer Bahnhof. But exclusive prices. Didn't find the ambience as good as The Ash in Aachen (there alone the large video screen above the kitchen, plus one floor, nicer furnishings). Yes, big, high windows (I couldn't tell if there was a first floor like in Aachen), a touch of America, yes, very friendly staff, but I didn't think the food was great and what you get for the money is not much. Had spare ribs for €29. One expects something. Only salad as a side dish, no fries. If you strip away the bones, which you are aware of, there isn't much meat left. The BBQ sauce was also bland. Not spicy, spicy. So I didn't get enough of it. My wife's burger for €18 was dry in terms of meat and now had little side dish on it, hardly any sauce. Then she voluntarily gave me half. Quote from my wife: she hasn't eaten such a bad burger in a long time (but I didn't think it was particularly special either). So with a drink each with a total button €60 without a tip at the end for 2 people, no thanks. We didn't like it, tasted good and impressed. Nevertheless, there was a lot going on on Sunday. PS: I remembered that the sauce and spareribs at Ash Aachen weren't any better either. But at least there was Himalayan salt on it. Well, no reason for a repeat - neither in Cologne nor Aachen.

Went there for brunch and won't repeat it. The only positive point was the ribs. Service was non-existent, which would have been appropriate given the selection of coffee specialties and juices (none at all, there was only filter coffee) to at least be able to order them. Otherwise everything is at a poor to mediocre hotel breakfast level.

The food was very good as always but we have 1.5 hours! waited for our food. It's really annoying, especially when everyone around you who came after us is already eating. So it wasn't because it was full.

Delicious chicken burger and from the upper floor you have a great view of the cathedral. 😃

An evening full of culinary contrasts – that’s probably the best way to sum up our visit to The Ash. We arrived with a group of around 25 people in great anticipation, ready for an enjoyable evening. What followed was a logistical spectacle that would have done credit to Kafka. The kitchen seems to have met our group's onslaught with a remarkable degree of improvisation - the food arrived at our tables in an order that could be described as creative at best. While some had already finished their plates, others were still waiting hungrily for what was (perhaps) to come. In at least one case, the food even had to be ordered again - a concept that is certainly innovative, if not necessarily efficient. The service made an effort – which, as we all know, is the little brother of “overwhelmed” – and revealed a certain artistic freedom in dealing with organization and coordination. Nevertheless: The food, if it found its way to the guest, was excellent. Tastes convincing, attractively presented - a kitchen that masters its craft when it comes into play. Conclusion: If you have time, patience and a penchant for slight absurdity, you will dine well here. For larger groups, however, it is advisable to consider either the principle of self-catering - or a miracle.

Tasty, everything! Personnel is friendly. A bit: too noisy and need to wait longer (visited at 2pm)

Steakhouse of a special class. Had a business meal there. The service was super friendly. Everyone ate very well and was satisfied. The rooms are stylishly furnished. Prices were reasonable for location and quality

We've been to various ASH restaurants many times. The service in Deutz was poor, unlike other ASH restaurants. The food quality was top-notch here, but the service was a flop. 40 minutes for a beer to arrive? Something's not quite right with the organization here. This urgently needs to be improved.

A huge minus: TIPPING The manager really shouldn't be surprised if he's short-staffed these days. And guests shouldn't be surprised why the service is sometimes "overwhelmed" and understaffed. The manager charges the server a 10% tip on every bill - regardless of whether the server received a tip or not. Example: Bill of €100 + 10% = €110 The server must give the manager €110 - regardless of whether the person received €100 or €115 from the guest. This means: If you don't receive a tip, you have to pay the missing 10% out of your own pocket. Splitting the actual tip with the rest of the staff would be okay, but always adding a 10% tip to the manager?!?! Sorry, that doesn't work for me. It was my first and last time there. Great atmosphere, great food, great location, etc. If you want to eat there in the evening/on the weekend, you should make a reservation. We were lucky enough to get a table spontaneously. Unfortunately, this restaurant also has a staffing shortage—like almost everywhere in the restaurant industry. The service at our table was really great, despite the staff shortage and the lack of time (since so many tables have to be looked after by one person).

We went there for brunch today. The selection was limited but OK. The service was friendly, but overwhelmed. Food was slow to refill, plates weren't cleared, and there were simply too few staff.

In my opinion, this isn't a good steakhouse. The atmosphere was loud and hectic, the food was nothing special but expensive. I had the worst mashed potatoes of my life; at home, they would have been better from a bag.

The site is very normal, I do not recommend it. The waiter tells me that they don't have room inside when people are coming in. Another of the waiters who knows my language tells me that it is empty at the bottom at that time. The waiter at the top told me that it was full and very cold but I was alone and was not going to consume. When I went in to see the bar he only asked me for forgiveness! I think it was the manager of the upper part

The food was incredibly delicious, and the atmosphere was really nice – but the old guy outside serving people... sorry, he's totally out of place. I'll spare you the details!

Terrible service ever. Wait for quite a while to get a table and drink

Very tasty food, great ambience, very friendly service, everything you would expect from a restaurant is there.

Unfortunately, extremely long waiting times. We had to wait almost 30 minutes for the first round of drinks. It took a total of almost 3 hours for the starter and main course. The food was really, really good and extremely tasty. Well prepared and also very well presented. Unfortunately, the extremely long waiting time spoils the delicious enjoyment of the food.

We went to brunch at The ASH Köln MesseCity on Sunday, which unfortunately didn't impress us. The hot food consisted largely of convenience foods (fried mozzarella balls, fried wings, and reheated pancakes). It also came with an egg dish (scrambled eggs from a tetra pack). Fresh fruit was completely absent. Overall, the food seemed rather lacking in quality. On the plus side, the service deserves special mention, hence the 3 stars.

Unfortunately we were disappointed with the brunch. We found nothing American about salmon, liver sausage or mett. Unfortunately there was no fruit to be found and the sausage/cheese platters were typically German. The pancakes were missing maple syrup and there were no muffins or donuts to be found either. It was great that coffee was included and the service was nice. In total we spent 160 euros for 4 people (including tip) and found it quite expensive for the selection on offer. Unfortunately we won't be coming back.

We were there for brunch, but unfortunately we were all a bit disappointed. We expected more choice, for example there was no fruit, fried eggs, hard-boiled eggs or selection of toppings for waffles that had to be made yourself. Muesli only came in a ready-made package and I've never seen it like that before. The pancakes weren't kept warm, so they weren't really tasty if you were unlucky enough not to get any warm ones. They couldn't keep up with refilling either, the vanilla sauce for the waffles was empty, the jam was empty, and there weren't any plates available for a long time, even though it wasn't overcrowded. Wouldn't recommend it and I definitely won't go here again for brunch, there are far better places for the same price. But the service was very nice.

The burger was very tasty. The gentleman with dark hair in his mid-50s and poor German is completely unsuitable as a waiter. Not only did he forget our drinks and only brought them after we had finished and asked him to pay, but he was also very unfriendly when we took the order. When we didn't give a tip - one of our very rare moments - he left without comment and didn't even say "bye". Unfortunately we won't be coming back.

Highly recommended if you want to eat food that is not salty. It's not a hamburger, but the spare rib is really delicious. Recommended.

The four of us spontaneously got a place on Friday evening. The service was great, the food came pretty quickly and was simply great! Very tasty, completely reasonable in terms of price. There is a special menu for the kids with some dishes at fair prices.

Surf and Turf is pure fraud. For a dish that cost over EUR 40, there were 4 small shrimps on my plate. This has nothing to do with King Prawns as it says on the menu. I asked the waiter about it and got a straight answer: All the guests would complain about it, but that's just how it is and there's nothing you could do about it. The announcement would come from the very top. I've never experienced anything so outrageous. My complaint was simply ignored and ignored.

There's even tortellini here, said the person sitting next to me. An experience of meat that was very good and a burger that was exactly how you want it. The prices are a little higher because you pay extra for almost all filling side dishes. At a Surf n Turf I think an extra amount for salad is too much. Otherwise well recommended.

I came here with my husband for a date. Renator was our waiter. He was super nice! He checked on us regularly and made sure we were fine. The food was served relatively fast and the portions were amazingly big. Let alone the food itself was super delicious. Definitely recommended!

We were very disappointed with the food. We returned the tuna tartare. In return we got a good tuna tataki. For the main course we had the spare ribs - a big disappointment. The side salad ColeSalat definitely didn't taste like it was homemade. More from Metro and the spareribs were not seasoned with meat. Very bland and the barbecue sauce was supposed to bring out the flavor. Unfortunately we cannot recommend this and it is too expensive. Spare ribs for €29.00 are very expensive.

Ambience is very nice here. However, we expected more from the food. Steak was ordered medium, but was rare for 3 people. Given the prices, that shouldn't be the case. Service was very accommodating.

The quality of the food was good, but the service was overwhelmed and we had to wait a long time for food and drinks. The orders were delivered incorrectly a total of 3 times.

Nice restaurant with a view of the cathedral. Unfortunately we had to put the steak back in the kitchen because it was mostly fat, but it was taken back without any problems and served again! Young team and nice atmosphere. Very expensive 🫰

The place is very nice, the environment is informal and refined. The waiters are all friendly and come by often to see if anything is needed. The wait was a bit long, it's true we were a nice group, but we waited 1 hour to eat. We tried everything, from steaks to burgers, nothing to say about eating, the raw materials are good, then you may or may not like the sauces offered, but this is personal. In the end everyone was happy, it's just a shame about the long wait, otherwise it would have been excellent!

Great atmosphere place, good service. Food is good, the meet is not bad but not premium, the apple crumble has very very little apple. The chicken dish is very good, the chicken has a great taste. Burgers very good, salads good

Today for the first time at the ASH... The staff are very attentive and polite. Unfortunately we had a table right next to the open kitchen, you have to like that, I absolutely don't like it. Hectic, noise and the constant grill and smell of sizzling... that's not really my thing.... The burger (bbq) was delicious... there can be divided opinions about the drink prices.....

The food was ok. Considering that you can easily leave over €100 for two people, it could actually be presented a little nicer. And we had promised ourselves more. One steak was good, one was quite tough. But what didn’t work was the “boss”. His treatment of the employees was unpleasant for us as guests. Everyone was so hard-working, friendly and accommodating and he was grumbling the whole time. It doesn't work at all. The location offers a lot. We were there once and will 100% never come back.

Good food at at perfect service. In particular Tobias took care of us every well as he arranged for us a table of 7 at a Saturday night without having a reservation. The perfect atttidute resulting perfect customer service. A place to recommend!

We found the selection at brunch to be too little for the price. When comparing the offer with other locations in the price range, we noticed the following: - No bowls for jam. These are not beautifully presented, but remained in the sales jar. - Pancakes are not on a warming plate and were cold. - Waffles have to be made yourself (fat splatters) and the waffle iron is not cleaned (dough stuck to the sides and leaked out). Just vanilla sauce as a topping. No powdered sugar, cherries or maple syrup for the pancakes. - The warm dishes are ready in the morning and that's how they taste. Rock hard pasta with no taste. Too little selection. - Salad buffet is not appealing. - Poor bread/roll selection. No mares or brown bread. - In our opinion, there is a lack of finger food (small wraps or similar) - Service staff could have cleared the table more often or asked for drinks. There were only three tables occupied, so it was an almost empty restaurant. - There is only one type of cereal that is packaged in plastic. - I happened to notice that a guest had been given a fresh fried egg upon request. This achievement should have been pointed out on a sign. - No fruit. - It was very cold in the restaurant due to the ventilation. The selection of cold cuts, which also tasted very good (salmon, meat, cheese, etc.) is positive. The pancakes and waffles were also very tasty, the pancakes would have tasted even better warm. There was unlimited coffee and orange juice. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant and the staff was very friendly.

We love it here for Sunday brunch, have been here many times and the food is to die for. Big minus - However, we were a bit disappointed with the reservation. You reserve early enough with several people and then lose out because they failed to accept several larger groups. Of course it was very stupid for us and my birthday party sat separately, unfortunately a very big negative for me otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

Been here for the first time with friends. I have to say it's stylish and the staff is friendly. You wait for an idea until you have something to drink, but the burger came quickly. Sorry about the burger, it wasn't ideal, but the neighbor's steak looked great and I'll try that too.

Was there for the first time yesterday, everything was great except for the steak, it was hard and chewy like chewing gum.

We were particularly disappointed with the service. Plates were not cleared at the table, drinks were not requested, and after being spoken to, people responded with annoyance. Coffee (pots at the buffet) was empty for a long time, scrambled eggs were not refilled for a long time, plates were not available and had to be requested. Overall not satisfactory.

Leider hat es meinen Erwartungen nicht ganz entsprochen. Das Fleisch war gut, die Beilagen aber nur mäßig warm. Da wir eine große Gruppe waren, wollte ich mich nicht beschweren.

Food was very tasty. Unfortunately, one or two side dishes were already cold when the food was served. The ambience exudes a high-quality charm if you don't look too closely. The sanitary facilities have seen better days: the floor is sticky. Given the location and the prices quoted, I would expect something different.

Seit Jahren hab ich nicht mehr so gutes Steak gegessen. Einfach fantastisch.

Die Curliefries waren kalt als sie kamen. Das Steak war leider nicht so zubereitet wie bestellt . Statt well done kam es blutig. Essen war lieblos angerichtet. Für dieses Preis erwartet man etwas anderes und mehr. Als Nachtisch haben wir Cappuccino und Chesesecake bestellt. Cappuccino kam, Cheesecake leider nicht. Als der Cappuccino kalt bzw. Ausgetrunken war, kam der Cheesecake. Schade.

Goede flank steak, goede ambiance. Vrienden hebben ook prima gegeten.

Beim ersten besuch einen Apfelstiel im Applecrumbel. Beim zweiten Besuch ein Knochen im "Maishuhn" aif dem Burger. Zweimal ist kein Zufall und für das Preis/Mängen verhältnis darf so etwas nicht passieren.

Der Service war wirklich sehr gut und freundlich. Bei einer Verzögerung wurde offen kommuniziert und erklärt. Aus meiner Sicht stand der Gast hier im Vordergrund, was leider nicht immer der Fall ist. Wir werden wiederkommen.

Evidently a busy night as NYE, however, cost did not reflect service provided. Starters were cold and average. Mains arrived whilst still eating starters - dessert was very much below expectations. Overall would not recommend.

Steak war wie zu erwarten gut, aber nicht günstig. Zudem schlechte Plätze in einem leeren Restaurant bekommen (keine Privatsphäre) Überteuertes Ketchup und Kräuterbutter werden versucht einem als Upsell still und heimlich unterzujubeln.

Nice restaurant and nice service. The vegan chicken was good as were the fries. The steak from the 3D printer looked very realistic and tasted okay. It didn't entirely convince me, but I'm not the biggest steak fan either.

Leider saßen wir vor der Küche und das Essen war mittelmäßig. Burger war leider sehr rosa. Das Essen von meiner Frau( Crispy Chicken ) war zu trocken.. Ich habe es der Kellnerin erwähnt und Sie hat mir zugestimmt.. Naja..

Food at The Ash was fantastic! I particularly like the option of putting together the burger according to your own wishes - everyone can find something to suit them here, regardless of their diet. The quality of the food is top and the service is always courteous and friendly, even when the house is full. One star deducted because of the volume, but otherwise a clear recommendation!

Getränke muss man 2x bestellen, sonst kommt nichts mehr nach der ersten Bestellung, schade das man sowas vergisst 😞

Wir waren heute zum Weihnachtsbrunch hier und ich muss sagen sehr reichhaltiges Buffet von Spareribs bis Steak und Lobster sogar für Vegetarier ist etwas vorhande für den Preis lässt es keine Wünsche offen. Kleines Manko Latte Macchiato und Cappuccino könnten etwas heißer sein. Wir kommen wieder.

We were very satisfied, the steaks were super tasty and cooked on point. The service was super friendly. Only the prices are very high. There is a star deduction for this, as well as for simple drinks and appetizers. a lot of money is required.

Guter Sonntagsbrunch in schöner Umgebung, sehr netter Service. Für eine 5 Sterne Bewertung müsste es mehr Auswahl beim warmen Essen geben. Ansonsten gerne wieder.

Fantastic food and service on our final night in Köln. The burgers, cannelloni and chicken supreme were all delicious. Only one of our party managed a dessert who said it’s the best apple crumble he has tasted. The bar staff Alejandro, Özay and Gregorio were very attentive providing fabulous service.

Unfortunately, The ASH did not live up to my expectations. The ambience is fulfilling and in my eyes it gets full marks. Modern and appealing. You look forward to a relaxing stay. Unfortunately, the rest doesn't match the beautiful ambience in any way. Service not ok, food average, etc A smile from the staff, none, it took a very long time to get drinks and they didn't even ask if everything was OK. The burgers, probably frozen goods, were far too dry. There are restaurants that are leagues better We waited a long time for the bill, even though there wasn't much going on. When we left, no goodbye, nothing. It's a shame, but no repeat from my side. Make up your own mind.

Wir waren mit unserer Familie hier essen. Leider hat das Rumpsteak von meiner Frau nicht mehr frisch geschmeckt. Ansonsten war alles sehr gut.

Sehr gemütliche Atmosphäre. Tolle Musik im Hintergrund. Sehr aufmerksames und nettes Personal. Sehr leckere und abwechslungsreiche Speisen. Gerne wieder. :)

Kalte Möhrensuppe, nach Reklamation warm aber nicht heiß! Hauptgericht-Portionen klein und nicht heiß. 0,15 Wein: Teuer…besser Flasche bestellen, günstiger! Abluft Küche defekt, daher alle Aussentüren auf…bei 3 Grad! Zugig, kalt…und nicht einmal ein Getränk aufs Haus als Entschuldigung. 4 verschiedene Service-Mitarbeitenden am Tisch, zwar grundsätzlich freundlich, aber zu betont lässig. Fazit: Teuer, kalt und kein Vergnügen! Schade!

Leider war der Service wirklich mangelhaft. Wir haben rund 1 Stunde auf unser Essen gewartet und meine Beilage war nur lauwarm. Der Burger war lecker, aber bewegt mich nicht dazu nochmal wieder zu kommen. Die Bedienungen waren leider alles andere als aufmerksam bzw. leider muss man es schon fast ignorant nennen. Zwar wurde oft zu unserem Tisch geschaut, aber nichts getan. Die leeren Teller standen rund 45min nach dem Essen noch auf unserem Tisch. Als wir die Bedienung heranriefen (von alleine kam ja niemand) um noch einen Nachtisch zu bestellen wurden dann immerhin auch endlich die Teller abgeräumt. Leider wurde aus dem Nachtisch aber auch nichts. Nachdem wir die Karte bekommen haben, haben wir geschlagene 30min gewartet ohne, dass jemand nochmal gekommen wäre um unsere weitere Bestellung aufzunehmen. Wir haben dann auf einen Nachtisch verzichtet. Als es ums Bezahlen ging war der Service dann aber plötzlich ganz fix... insgesamt leider keine Sternstunde für The Ash.

Es war sehr sehr lecker. Und ein großer Dank an den hervorragend Kellner Barbie.

We went for Sunday brunch with 17 people. We ordered the table a week in advance. When we arrived on Sunday at 10 a.m. nothing was prepared, absolutely nothing. A service person and we then put together tables for 17 people. The breakfast was rich and good, you could help yourself with coffee and orange juice. At lunchtime there were breaded chicken wings, some cold, speare rips were just covered in barbeque sauce (horrible taste). Plus fried potato wedges or pasta, unfortunately everything before freezing temperature. You had to plan for waiting times for service, like at KVB. A beer takes half an hour from order to delivery. All in all, once and not again.

Essen sehr gut. Service hat noch Platz nach oben.

I dined here with friends on a Saturday night & had a topnotch experience. The place was crowded & lively but we could still have a conversation with no problems. Pleasant atmosphere & we enjoyed watching the steaks being prepared. The food was excellent and the waitstaff were friendly and helpful. Easy to find & access, adjacent to the Messe/Deutz train station.

Wir haben uns auf einen sehr schönen Abend gefreut undhaben leider statt einer gewünschten ruhigen Ecke zu viert direkt neben der offenen Küche unseren Platz erhalten. Sehr schade. Das Essen war hervorragend wie auch der Service.

Beautiful restaurant with high-quality furnishings that is slowly being renovated. The staff, who were young when we visited, took a long time to get the drinks. The cleanliness in the men's toilets was okay but not really clean. The sinks (concrete) are already accumulating limescale and mold on the corners. The burgers were good. The patties are convenience, so not freshly prepared. The steak too. But high prices. You pay for the ambience. Tables and floors could be wiped and swept in between.

Es war im ganzen Gastraum unglaublich kalt und ohne Jacke durchaus unangenehm. Essen wie im Ash üblich sehr gut. Service hab ich heute hier als durchwachsen erlebt, Lunchkarte musste zur Lunchzeit extra angefragt werden. Der Geräuschpegel war kurz vor unangenehm, vor allem da wohl das geschäftliche Mobilgerät/ Telefon ständig in einer penetrant unangenehmen Lautstärke klingelte und wohl keiner Kapazität hatte, die Anrufe entgegen zu nehmen? Vielleicht findet sich dafür eine andere Lösung denn viele Geschäftskunden, so wie wir auch, treffen sich dort im dienstlichen Kontext in dem es möglich sein sollte, auch in normaler Lautstärke unterhalten zu können.

Service, ambience, food in that order are absolutely fine. The 5th star would have been given if the prices for what was offered hadn't been so exorbitant. It may be due to the location and the wealthy clientele.

Wir haben lediglich ein Hauptgericht gegessen. Die Bedienung war hervorragend und zuvorkommend. Die Spare Ribs waren ausgezeichnet und der Burger geschmacklich ebenfalls sehr lecker. Das Brötchen hätte man rösten müssen, da es bereits aufgeweicht an den Tisch kam. Das Essen war nicht warm genug und schon stark abgekühlt. Trotzdem würde ich wiederkommen und weitere Gerichte probieren.

The food was quite good, but we had to wait a long time for it to arrive. It also took a long time before we could reorder drinks. After eating only half of the plates were cleared away, then after 10 minutes the rest. The lava cake for dessert was cold.
