On a Saturday evening we got a table for 4 people without a reservation, but had to wait a little over an hour for the food. The burgers were average and a bit more expensive for the size. The service was consistently friendly.

I won't say much about it because I'm really disappointed. I think what you serve has nothing to do with a steak house. Sorry but that's what beginners serve in normal restaurants but in a steak house you expect quality meat and not something that isn't even well prepared. I would be really ashamed if I served something like that.

Overall food is nice but don't go to the toilet and be super careful upon paying not to be tricked. Food was great and the place was nice but the restroom was terrible, half of the toilets was out of service and water was running only in drops so you couldn't wash your hands. The waiter was smiling but slow and charged me 30€ more because he mistaken tables. After that he wanted to return me only 25€

We were there spontaneously yesterday the Ash. The reception was friendly and we got a table even without a reservation. That was very friendly. The service was always friendly, prompt and attentive. When the glasses were empty, we quickly asked whether something could be brought in. The location itself is really nicely decorated and cozy. The starters came very quickly and were also very tasty. Unfortunately, the main courses were served so quickly afterwards, without the starters being eaten. That was a bit uncomfortable. The truffle pasta was very tasty with a very balanced proportion of truffles. Top product The surf and turf was okay, but unfortunately not anymore. Unfortunately my burger was very dry. The meat was way too dry and there was just way too little sauce. The spiciness mentioned in the menu wasn't there either. The price/performance of the food may not be entirely appropriate. All the drinks were very tasty and had a very good price/performance ratio. Will we revisit The Ash? Definitely, but not in the foreseeable future. The steak and burger alternatives in There are plenty of surroundings and some of them are simply better.

The toilets were very dirty on Friday evening at 8pm, two hand basins, one marked "broken", the other didn't work either.

The first impression is great. Open kitchen, stylish furnishings. The prices are quite impressive, especially when you take the extras into account. The food came cold to lukewarm. The burger patties were relatively dry. Overall, the food wasn't convincing. The service was good and friendly. The toilets are absolutely amazing: no glasses and no water to wash your hands. The floor sticks and it smells.

Kitchen works very well and food is good. But the place is far too noisy, it’s too warm, and is not managed at all : you wait to place your orders, you wait to get your food, and employees are far from kind. A place I would not recommend.

Good environment, food is fine for the price. Waiter covered the option for “no tip” with his finger and tried to get us to tip. When I pressed no tip button he got mad and asked if the service was bad. Tipping is at the client’s discretion not at the request of the waiters, much less trying to trick us into tipping.

The staff gave us a friendly welcome and the atmosphere was cozy. Unfortunately the food was mixed. The steak fries were fatty instead of crispy. I ordered the Crunchy Chicken Burger with it. Unfortunately, the chicken was too dry for me and the light breading was too greasy. But I have never tasted such incredibly fruity ketchup and aromatic mayonnaise. In addition, the vegetarian sensational burger patty tasted incredibly good and was very authentic.

Wer gerne gegrillte Steaks mag, ist hier goldrichtig. Das Essen war hochwertig, der Service aufmerksam. Mein Stuhl hatte sehr durchgesessene Polster und die Flammenkamine an keiner Stelle aktiviert. Schade, das hätte dem Restaurant etwas außergewöhnliches gegeben.

Nice ambience, not so good food

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Ash Restaurant in Essen. My husband ordered a tenderloin steak which was cooked medium rare and tasted perfect. I, on the other hand, ordered a RIPE steak, which I wanted medium well. Unfortunately it was still too raw for my taste so we returned it. The steak came again, but it was still raw - not quite what I expected. My husband still enjoyed the steak and ate it with pleasure. However, the grilled vegetables were an absolute highlight and extremely tasty! Particularly positive is the staff, who were super nice and very attentive. Overall, we had a pleasant evening, even if the steak wasn't quite what I wanted. I would still like to come back and try another selection! And as an apology we would have looked forward to a drink from the house but unfortunately it wasn't offered

The two of us wanted to eat at 5:30 p.m. All free tables were reserved. We should eat at the bar. When she asked about the seats on the upper floor they said we wouldn't open for the time being. The space at the bar is great. Ash you probably don't need any sales. Never ever We got a great steak at Pfefferkorn.

We visited the restaurant at very short notice and were totally satisfied. A modern American style restaurant. The service was on point! Always present but not intrusive. The food was incredibly tasty and came without a long wait. All in all, highly recommended!

Perfectly cooked steak (temperature)! Flavour profile is pretty basic though without much to differentiate it. Caesar salad dressing isn't Caesar? (Std yogurt vs traditional? I'll ask next time) I'll try again this week. Likely just a rare miss.

Lovely setting and a good steak (missed some oomph and charcoal taste, tbh). Decent (not awesome) options of cuts. The house red wine is very good. The desserts are also good. On the plus side, they're open until 10pm (kitchen included!), which is an ideal option for hungry travellers!

Yesterday we visited Essen for the first time with 5 people because everything in Oberhausen was fully booked, I have to say that for the first and last time! Absolutely no comparison to Oberhausen, where the waitress still enjoys serving the customers. The food was good, the ambience can be compared to Oberhausen 0. The waiter at the end was super pissed because he didn't give a tip (we had our reasons). Sorry, but you don't treat customers like that! No wonder the shop in Essen was empty on Saturday evening.

So where do I start. We actually came for the ribs, they were bland and runny and as if they had come from the freezer. Totally horrible 😱 they were really the worst ribs ever. The best thing was the carpaccio, you can't go wrong with that. Prices completely overpriced... rarely eaten so badly. The food wasn't even that tasty... Sorry first and last visit... a bill of €89... sad

A cosy and quiet place. Food was average. Portion was reasonable. Ordered beef, beer and tea. Price was the costlier side. There was no breakdown of the food items when we paid.

The restaurant is super centrally located in the immediate vicinity of the train station and in the pedestrian zone. The restaurant is beautifully and modernly designed, the staff is friendly. The menu offers a decent selection of grilled dishes and vegetarian alternatives, the wine selection is manageable but well sorted in the usual price range. The vegetarian burger was good but nothing special; both meat dishes were unfortunately overdone. They were supposed to be medium rare and were 50% cooked through. Unfortunately, they were pretty dry. But the meat was at least tender and would definitely have been tasty if cooked correctly. The side dishes were very good. When it comes to the toilets, it should be noted that during our stay there was no real stream of water coming out of the faucet at any sink, only a thin trickle. Therefore only 3.5 stars overall.

I have NEVER eaten such an amazing steak in my entire life. My husband's hamburger was also very convincing. Yes, the prices are higher, but I'm happy to spend the money on this quality and taste. The service was also very relaxed and courteous. We will come more often.

A very nice restaurant with a wonderful view of the open kitchen and bar. The service is hard to beat as every comment, no matter how small, is immediately taken into account and implemented with a high level of understanding. The ambience of the restaurant is quite simple but built to a high standard and if you look closely there are many cool insights that an American steakhouse has to offer. The bottom line is that I can highly recommend Restaurante The Ash. There is something for everyone whether vegan or not, and surprisingly there is also something for the large but also the small bag. So it's worth going. By the way, a Ladies Night event is currently scheduled for April 30, 2024. That means ladies. Your drinks are on the house. Make reservations and secure drinks, that’s what it says. The best restaurant of the city, great food and atmosphere.

We were there on April 23rd. visiting Essen and coming from Aachen. Since we also have a TheAsh in Aachen, we wanted to try it out in Essen. We were 1 hour earlier than reserved, but that wasn't a problem. Super friendly staff, very tasty food, we had two vegetarians with us who really got their money's worth. Very good quality of the meat and the side dishes We will come back!! Thanks!!!

I recently dined at the steakhouse and unfortunately my experience was far from satisfactory. Despite requesting a medium-rare steak, I was served a medium-well one. The staff's attempt to persuade me to accept it was frustrating, and the delayed response in addressing the issue only added to the disappointment. Moreover, the lack of timely removal of the overcooked steak from the table was unacceptable. I left feeling hungry and dissatisfied. Overall, the poor service and failure to meet basic customer expectations make it difficult to recommend this establishment. As compensation, they did remove the cost of my steak from the bill. However, their persistent attempts to offer schnapps in a pushy manner added to the discomfort of the situation.
