Unfortunately a very bad experience. The black-haired waitress was extremely unfriendly. I specifically asked for lemon in my drink twice, but she only put it on my friend. The excuse she gave was that it wasn't possible with Cola Zero - which isn't true. Additionally, she was friendly to my friend but rude and unprofessional to me.

We reserved a table for Valentine's Day and were looking forward to a nice evening for two. Unfortunately, our table was right next to the open kitchen and the food counter. We were essentially sitting in the oil fume of the kitchen and the noise from the kitchen, pans, cooks, etc. was so extreme that no conversation was possible. Although other tables were still unoccupied, we were not allowed to change. After 10 minutes we left. It's a shame, we were really looking forward to a cozy Valentine's Day and good food in a pleasant atmosphere.

Last week we were there spontaneously with 6 people and we were accepted straight away without any problems. The service was very dedicated, friendly and polite. The steaks there are very tasty and inexpensive, as are the burgers with fries. Changes to the menu were also immediately accepted.

Sat at the high table, without a reservation, as I was told. At 5 p.m. I jammed the manager and said I had to leave because everything was fully booked. Is that ok? I ordered for at least €60 on my own and have to find a new place on Friday evening??

Unfortunately, our visit to The ASH in Essen was not as convincing as we had hoped. The food was generally okay, but there were a few problems that severely spoiled the overall impression. First of all, our steak wasn't prepared as ordered - instead of medium-well, it was served medium-rare. Especially in a steakhouse you should be able to expect that the degree of doneness will be exactly right. In addition, essential things such as a steak knife and salt were missing, which were only added upon request - actually a given in a restaurant of this level. Another major annoyance was the organization. We were told from the start that we only had a 90 minute window for our visit. That wouldn't be a problem in itself, but the order was only taken after 30 minutes. This created unnecessary time pressure when eating, which made the experience unrelaxing and hectic. All in all, the food was okay, but unfortunately the service and organization left a lot to be desired. I would definitely have expected more for the price category.

The ambience is upscale and really very appealing. The service was very competent and friendly. We felt we were in good hands. The food is really good, fresh and high quality. The meat was fried to perfection, but the portion was quite small and did not reflect the price-performance ratio. Please don't get me wrong, it tastes great, but you can also get meat of equal or even better quality from good stores for less money. Bill for 2 people without dessert 130€.

I'm here regularly with my family when ever we get to spend some time together. But it's also nice to just relaxing on my own waiting for my wife to finish work and join me for a cosy dinnner. Staff are very friendly and helpful when it comes to seating and the many choices they provide. LF to be back soon!

I spontaneously ended up at The Ash today and was surprised by the friendly and super fast service. The ribeye steak with herb butter was perfectly medium rare and the sweet potato fries were outstanding along with the truffle mayo and grilled green asparagus. I give The Ash 5 stars, not only because of the food, but also because of the amazing New York cheesecake and the Pink Dragon cocktail. Thank you for everything! It's a shame my stomach is so small - I would have liked to try more.

The restaurant is in an extremely central location which makes it very easy to reach by public transport. It is well connected and therefore easily accessible for everyone. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very inviting and friendly, which makes the visit pleasant from the start. The waiters are extremely attentive and ensure that you don't miss anything. Of particular note is the corn-fed chicken I ordered – it was simply outstanding. Delicate and perfectly seasoned, a real taste experience. I can't comment on anything, because I've been waiting 2 hours for the starters to be served. The only thing they tell me is sorry. Legend has it that we are still waiting.

Awfull experience this evening... We had been Waiting more than 2 hours for 6 burgers, unbelievable ! Nobody gave us something to eat, even a peanut or a peace of bread. It's really a shame. We finally left the place without eating. Bye the way, men toilets are broken... enjoy ! Just Runaway !!

Incredibly awful service. We arrived at 19:30. Ordered some drinks and shortly after orders our meals. It's 21:30. No food for none of us yet. No explanation, no apologies, not really reasons for this waiting. The place is cool and cosy but don't come here if you want to have dinner within a reasonable stretch of time. Even our drinks were prepared quickly, but no waiter took them to our table for the first 20 minutes. We could see then at the bar, on a tray, but apparently they were in invisible for all the waiters despite we drew their attention to this matter too often. Update: it's 21:40. Two hours and ten minutes after our arrival our meal arrives. It only arrived because one member of the staff at the kitchen took a brave decision and started to sort out this disaster by speeding up all the plates and serving personally the tables despite this is not her responsibility. We are utterly surprised, let down and upset about this chaotic experience. Everyone at the restaurant is angry and complaining about waiting 1 hour, 2 hours, etc. Thanks to Sofia for her personal commitment, customer car concern and decision taking boost. You should be running the restaurant.

Es war alles gut...Getränke, Ambiente, Vorspeisen, Service....mäkeln müsste ich nur beim Steak. Für ein Tenderloin war es recht fest und auch vom Stück her nicht richtig zugeschnitten, Sehnen etc. Das gehört da nicht hin. Geschmacklich war es gut.

We are used to better things from the Ash. Unfortunately it wasn't entirely to our satisfaction, but we were very accommodated. I actually only wanted to give it 3 stars, but because of the nice solution to the problem I'm still giving it the 4th star.

Food mediocre, little choice especially for vegetarians and in my opinion overpriced. It's rude that a 10% tip is already ticked when paying.

We wanted to eat here today. We had to drive for over an hour and got stuck in a traffic jam. We tried to call twice to say that we were coming and that the reserved table should not be canceled. Unfortunately it was not picked up both times. When we arrived 5 minutes late they said our table had been cancelled. As a gesture of goodwill, they could offer us another table for 50 minutes. But we have to be gone in 50 minutes. Service was extremely unfriendly and didn't really try to find a solution. Never again with such unfriendly service. The lady at reception didn't even mention that the store couldn't be reached by phone.

THE ASH in Essen has a truly impressive atmosphere - stylish and modern, with a touch of American flair. The quality of the food was excellent, especially the steaks, which were grilled to perfection. Unfortunately the service on our evening was a bit disorganized. It sometimes took quite a long time before we even got tickets and it felt like we had just finished our breakfast. Very little time per guest, service that was mentally somewhere else. Another point that we noticed: Later on, the music became significantly louder thanks to a live DJ. Okay for us adults, but it was simply too loud to have a pleasant conversation with my 10-year-old sister. We would have liked this to be pointed out to us in advance before we were assigned a table. Still, it's a great restaurant with great food, but rather difficult for a relaxed family evening. Definitely recommended for special occasions or a dinner among adults!

I would've have given 5*s for the food, it was very tasty. We had Surf & turf and steak. It was prepared exactly how requested. We were asked if we'd like chips with it thinking automatically this would come with the meal. BIG MISTAKE. We were charged extra for the chips, the sauces, the gravy, the salad and the water. So, be aware if you go and have a meal at The Ash. Don't get me wrong the meal was lovely, but the price was anything but.

On the day we were there it was perfect for us

Invited by mom to dinner. Our little one ordered steak rare (raw or English), and she got it medium rare. It was also very dry, and the fat on it was proportionally too much. You expect more from a good quality rump steak. The pepper sauce was also passed half a meter past the pepper. Even more so if you eat it in a designated steakhouse. Burgers, the Caloni and the soup as well as the Korean chicken wings were ok. What I didn't like were the broken toilets and the ability to wash your hands. The waiter shot the bird and charged the bill from the next table. Of course, his display with the tip selection was very inconspicuously held up, where mom pressed 10% and thus 13 euros more was added to the bill. Ok, it can happen. However, he only noticed the mistake when we were about to leave. I was a bit annoyed and had the amount of 131 euros canceled and wanted our correct invoice, which amounted to 155 euros. Then he holds out his display with the tip selection again. Did he really expect to get another 15.50 in tips? I can only guess. There are gold pieces, you can hardly find the fields on the tray, but there are no limits when it comes to tipping. I'm disappointed with this restaurant.

Service war freundlich und bemüht, das Essen, insbesondere das Fleisch war gut. Sanitäre Anlagen für ein Restaurant dieser Preisklasse, absolut inakzeptabel und eine blinkende Lichterkette als Weihnachtsbeleuchtung an der Decke, entfaltet auch eher einen speziellen Charme.

Leider wenig barrierefreiheit rollstuhlrampe zugestellt rollstzhltoilette durch möbel blockiert geburtstag wurde ignoriert unsere bedienung leider nicht so freundlich aber sehr nette restaurantleiter sich bei uns entschuldigt hatte. Gehen oft ins ash und das war das erste mal nicht so toll

Unfortunately, spare ribs were a failure on Saturday... With the amount of BBQ sauce you could have served 5 portions. Then we went to the counter and waited about 20 minutes until we were served. The conversation between employees seemed to be valued more than the customer. Unfortunately, the mojito we got after another 10 minutes was terribly bad and that for €11.

We were with a larger group at The ASH in Essen and were unfortunately very disappointed. The service seemed overwhelmed right from the reception, and this impression continued throughout the entire evening. Drinks were only served after extremely long waiting times - one guest in our group had to wait a whopping 30 minutes for a single drink. This is unacceptable and further ruined our evening. There were also major deficiencies in the food. Most of the dishes came to the table cold or at best lukewarm. Only my food was okay, but even that wasn't convincing because it was obviously mostly ready-made products used. Given the high prices that The ASH charges, this is simply cheeky. We expected fresh ingredients and high quality preparation - neither was delivered. Another negative point was the sanitary facilities. The men's room was not clean, there was no toilet paper, and the faucets didn't work. If you wanted to wash your hands, you had to go to a separate room. In summary, our visit to The ASH was a huge disappointment. Neither the service nor the quality of the food nor the hygiene met the expectations that one can have at these prices. The value for money is terrible and we definitely cannot recommend this restaurant.

A day before our visit, my work colleague told me that we had reserved a table here. I was excited to study the map online in advance. And since it's been a long time since my last visit to a good steakhouse, I decided to treat myself to something really good. I decided on the Tomahawk with 1000g for 95€. In order to be able to enjoy it and to be able to do it in the end, I didn't eat anything all day. Then finally on site I ordered the steak medium and uncut. Plus some bread. When the steak came, the first disappointment was that the steak had been cut in advance. Then the second one, which was Steam Rare. Whatever works. The taste was really okay, but the steak never weighed 1000g, even with the bone. I've had 500g T-bone steaks that were bigger than this tomahawk. Of course, I was most sorry about the waitress, the young lady really went out of her way. But in the end I can't and don't want to give a tip for the kitchen's service.

We were there last week... unfortunately we were very disappointed. I ordered a tomahawk steak 1000gr which was subpar. From the outside the piece of meat was like a briquette so we had it returned after consulting the restaurant management, which was rubbish because everyone else had already had their food. Unfortunately, when our new piece arrived it wasn't much better and unfortunately there was only a little to see. But that wasn't all. Salads and side dishes were brought to us incorrectly... you probably can't tell the difference between shandy and beer... .and now comes the coronation....since we took another look at the bill we noticed that we had also paid for the first briquette (almost 100€) which was then corrected when we asked...you can give it a try. I was definitely last There.

Der Standort in Essen ist nicht zu empfehlen. Seit 8 Wochen plus sind die Toiletten im 1. OG ohne Waschbecken, was man im Nebenkämmerchen nachholen darf. Der Service ist kurz angebunden, die Cocktails sehr wässrig, das Steak zu sehr durch gebraten und die Pommes kalt. Die Knappheit an Stühlen und die defekte Ambientebeleuchtung runden den Eindruck ab, dass hier stark gespart wird. Leider leider nicht zu empfehlen.

Burger wurde ohne Käse bestellt, kam mit Käse. Personal hat sich sofort um einen neuen Burger gekümmert und sich entschuldigt. Lichterkette unter der Decke war auf schnelles flackern eingestellt, auch da hat das Personal schnell reagiert und es abgestellt. Das Essen war sehr lecker und kam für 4 Personen gleichzeitig an den Tisch.

Super Essen. Die Qualität des Fleisches war super. Das Steak war medium, so wie ich es bestellt habe.

Unser Besuch im ASH war leider nicht so angenehm. Im Obergeschoss spielte ein DJ sehr laute Musik, wodurch eine normale Unterhaltung kaum möglich war. Man musste sehr laut sprechen, um sich überhaupt zu verstehen. Obwohl wir gebeten hatten, die Musik leiser zu machen, wurde erst spät reagiert. Nach etwa 15 Minuten drehte der DJ die Lautstärke jedoch wieder hoch. Wir konnten nicht nachvollziehen, warum in einer ohnehin schon lauten Umgebung zusätzlich Musik in dieser Lautstärke gespielt werden musste. Unser Firmenessen fiel zudem durch den Ansturm vom Essener Weihnachtsmarkt ins Chaos. Viele Menschen wurden kurzfristig im Raum untergebracht, was zu einem ständigen Hin- und Herlaufen führte. Es wurden zahlreiche Stühle herumgetragen, was die Atmosphäre weiter unruhig machte. Die Gruppe verursachte insgesamt viel Bewegung und Unruhe, was den Abend zusätzlich beeinträchtigte.

We were at ASH yesterday with a larger group. Since we reserved early, there was no waiting time upon arrival. The accompaniment to the table etc. was very good. You felt comfortable. The reception of the drinks and food was also very good, the drinks and appetizers were brought to the table in a timely manner. The starters consisted of bread with hummus, herb butter, aioli, tomatoes, grilled peppers, olives, scampi, falafel, skewered meat and pesto. So we had a good introduction. At some point we were given an order for main courses that wasn't even for us. But we were quickly able to make the mistake clear to the service team. Interestingly, the whole group ordered burgers. For me it was a Yucatan burger with mac 'n' cheese. Unfortunately, the burger was an absolute failure. The main problem was the very hard frozen patty, which was pink on the inside but very hard pressed. The patty was also tasteless. I've eaten a lot of burgers, whether at McDonald's, Hardrock Cafe, many burger and American diners: this was the hardest and worst patty. Even when you had dismantled the burger, you still had to use a lot of force to cut it with the serrated knife. The rest of the Yucatan ingredients were good, but not as spicy as expected. The mac'n'cheese were ok so far... although not really hot anymore. Therefore I can say: Starters: good, Burger: very bad Service: very good Ambience: very good I absolutely cannot understand the good reviews from ASH and the hype. But maybe it's because you didn't eat steak. I'll probably try that next time - but not in Essen... Given the steak prices, the risk of having an absolutely miserable evening would be too high for me. But everyone deserves a second chance - just not so soon. It's a shame that nothing was learned from a similar review a month ago.

Refers to the vegetarian and vegan dishes: they were very tasty and well prepared. The price is a bit steep but all in all good. The service was very friendly and accommodating, but not intrusive. The ambience is nice - in my opinion the music was a bit loud and as soon as the door opens it gets very cold - but that's complaining at a high level. All in all, worth a recommendation!

It's been over a year since my experience at this restaurant. The food was very good. The service was bottom drawer. You felt like you had ordered and not picked up and the plates were piling up on the bar. No hello, thank you for the tip and no goodbye. Given the prices, that's probably the least you can expect.

On a Saturday evening we got a table for 4 people without a reservation, but had to wait a little over an hour for the food. The burgers were average and a bit more expensive for the size. The service was consistently friendly.

Dieses Mal war der Besuch leider nur durchschnittlich. Ich hatte die Lachs Bowl. Die Sauce war eine Fertigsauce, das Grillgemüse bestand lediglich aus Zucchini. Die Bedienung war eher desinteressiert, die sanitären Anlagen weiterhin mittelmäßig funktionsfähig. Alles in allem enttäuschend! Kenne ich besser!
