Tasty 3x11 and crispy Schäuferla, beautifully situated beer garden.

Definitely recommended, close to the city, but far enough away from the downtown area to unwind and enjoy a beer or two, three times eleven. The beer garden is very idyllic. The food is good, the schnitzels are particularly excellent. Prices are, well, like everywhere else...just not beer garden prices, but restaurant prices. It's also very nice inside...go there - it's worth it.

The food is good, but the service in the self-service beer garden is limited. Nevertheless, I think charging €20 for the (delicious) Cordon Bleu without salad is completely excessive. A small salad costs a maximum of 0.50 cents. A cooperative should charge reasonable prices, even if it's certainly not easy commercially. I'm considering going there again. And that would be counterproductive!

Mega shoulder of pork with a crispy crust!

Our confirmed online reservation got lost. So we only got a side table. And that was for a limited time, too. Unprofessional service, wandering aimlessly around the beer garden, which is uninviting and anything but cozy. The food is just barely edible, with lots of convenience and ready-made products. Be careful with "homemade" dishes; they're more likely to come from a bag, jar, or bucket; the spaetzle definitely aren't homemade. Prices are far too high for what's on offer. All in all, far too little to warrant a second chance. Cheers, take care.

After having been there with friends a year ago, I wanted to show it to my family. So I called, and outside of opening hours, a machine took the reservation, which was a good solution. Arrival: Walking across the meadow from the street over the small bridge, I was immediately greeted by the smelly trash cans. What kind of proprietor leaves them outside of pickup hours, so that guests have to pass through them on the only way to the restaurant? Despite the forecast of rain, only the beer garden was open, which was unfortunate. The dining room has considerably more charm. But it wasn't advertised anywhere; we only learned about it from a waiter hurrying through the empty dining room. When we got there, no one felt responsible for our reservation, and we were assigned a table that was significantly too large. Despite asking about it, since we naturally noticed this, we were told it was okay. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. (And the beer garden isn't huge). Despite several waiters, no one came at first. When one finally arrived, and we wanted to order food along with drinks, the waiter disappeared with an unclear announcement that sounded as if a colleague had to do it (why?)...who then didn't come either. Instead, we were asked shortly afterward, not very politely, whether we had a reservation (yes, we had), and that the table was reserved for 9 (also something). Then, when our reservation couldn't be found on the machine because they didn't scroll down far enough (not by commenting that they were still searching, but by saying that we hadn't made a reservation), we were directed to another table, which again didn't have an umbrella (despite the forecast of rain), because, yes, the table reserved for us was "already taken" (mind you, we even arrived earlier than our reservation). Well, I thought, the food will make up for it a bit; I remembered that well. The menu stated that they were happy to make children's portions, and our youngest daughter was hoping for an "XL" currywurst... which, when asked, was not available. Because "the kitchen wouldn't do that" (i.e., cutting up the currywurst; at the time, I assumed it was also XL; spoiler...). Mind you, it was all unfriendly and regretful; pointing out the menu didn't help either. Okay, so schnitzel for the kids, salad with that for me, and the "XL" currywurst for my wife, because: since she's tall, the little one could have some. When it finally arrived, I had to admit: she could have finished it without any changes. There was no XL. Not even an "L." It was a perfectly normal portion. My salad also seemed to have shrunk considerably since my last visit. Conclusion: The waiters were unfriendly (not just to us), incompetent (the family behind us received completely wrong drinks, for example, several guests only received cutlery upon request, etc.), lacking motivation, the food was okay but too expensive, parts of the menu were misleading, and overall, guests felt unwelcome. The beer garden was okay, but the courtyard could be tidied up a bit better, and the varnish on the benches was peeling, the furniture was completely unadorned—all in all, very poorly maintained. The beer is okay, but it doesn't make it stand out, and without being a member of the cooperative, the specialty beer is also a waste. Overall, I wouldn't go there again. It's a shame. Last time, the impression was much better. I'm surprised the cooperative can afford to run the place so poorly.

We were in the beer garden. I highly recommend it. The food was very good. Unfortunately, as it got busier, two servers weren't enough for the entire beer garden, resulting in longer wait times.

The Thalermühle is a restaurant located on the Wöhrmühle cultural island, directly on the Regnitz River. Depending on the weather, you can either sit inside or enjoy the small, cute beer garden in the courtyard. The portions were generously priced, and the food was delicious. Parking is available at Erlangen's large parking lot, and the walk to the Thalermühle is not far. We'll be back.

Nice beer garden with a plentiful menu in a natural setting. The service was very good and the food was good.

It's a small menu, which really impressed me and suggested something new. A very pleasant experience in a warm atmosphere, with parking available from the surrounding area, and a short walk from the large parking lot. Unfortunately, the interior is a bit echoey, and it's almost impossible to hear the person speaking, making it ideal for company parties!

A very cozy restaurant located in the premises of an old mill. It offers a small but fine selection of delicious local beers and hearty cuisine. I've rarely had such a crispy crust on a Schäuferle (small pork shoulder)! The portions are so generous that everyone should be able to eat their fill. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the high ceilings mean it's not too noisy when the restaurant is full.

Very good food, service sometimes excellent, sometimes not so good. Relatively loud, difficult to hold a conversation with several people, but it's fine for two. Recommended, as the food is very good.

Great restaurant with the best Schäuferle (pork shoulder) in all of Franconia! The crispiest crust you can find. The juiciest sauce and the softest dumplings. All in all, 10/10. Hats off to the kitchen crew and the friendly staff here at the Thalermühle. See you soon!

Dear Mr. Heilmann, Without the employee you mentioned, the Thalermühle would not have become what it is today: a popular location for parties and events of all kinds. I particularly appreciate this relaxed and personal atmosphere, where a joke is also possible, which is certainly never meant to be below the belt or discriminatory. Given what all the service and kitchen staff do every day, that's no longer a given these days. Would you prefer grumpy waitresses?

Dear Mr. Heilmann, I really enjoy coming to the Thalermühle regularly – not just because of the good food and delicious drinks, but also because of the relaxed, cheerful service. The employee with the "long hair and brown skin" (as he was very neutrally described here...) is particularly well-known and popular for his hard work, his humor, and his charming remarks. Many guests appreciate exactly that about him! Of course, you have to have a sense of humor. If you can't stand irony (a funny, witty remark) because of an order for a non-alcoholic beer, perhaps a lukewarm cup of chamomile tea in a quiet atmosphere would be more appropriate. And honestly – if a restroom suggestion is immediately perceived as a "disgusting remark," then the problem is hardly the employee's. Maybe just be a bit more relaxed next time – life is serious enough as it is. Go through life a little more smiling and cheerful, write a little less Google reviews... And if something doesn't quite work out, just say so politely, instead of Sherlock Holmes-style, including your "skin color" in your review. Have a lovely summer – with plenty of sun (apply plenty of sunscreen and avoid getting sunburned) to soothe your spirits! Maybe we'll see each other for a glass of still water (with or without lemon? Lemon is fun – watch out!) at the Thalermühle ;-)

I've been to two events there so far. The ambience is very nice. However, every time I was discriminated against by an employee at the bar (longer black hair, brown skin tone) after I ordered a non-alcoholic beer. I don't have to justify why I don't drink alcohol and I don't want to have to listen to stupid sayings about it. Sorry, but such behavior is absolutely out of place. I am a guest and spend money there and this is the thank you for it? At the last event I asked at the bar where the toilets were, another disgusting comment from the employee mentioned above. Really extremely unpleasant as a guest. I hope consequences will be drawn from this soon!

Brewing cooperative on the edge of Erlangen's old town. Renovated and built with a lot of love and commitment. Food (Franconian classics) and service at a high level, and now also the prices - but justified. Great beer garden on the Regnitz. Delicious home-brewed beer in different varieties. Central parking lot located approx. 200m away. Directly accessible by bike. Technology and nature lovers will also get their money's worth.

A must-visit: nestled in the heart of Erlangen, Thalermühle combines rustic charm with refined culinary experience. From the moment we arrived, the cozy, welcoming ambiance set the tone for a delightful evening. The restaurant is housed in a beautifully restored mill, and the mix of historical architecture with warm decor made the setting quite unique. The staff at Thalermühle were friendly, providing patiently recommendations for our foreigner colleagues. The menu features both local Bavarian classics. the Schäufele or the Karpfenfilet are just awesome 👍 What really sets Thaler Mühle apart is its ambiance. The setting by the mill is charming and there is enough space for larger groups. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience in town.

Great home bar, they brew their own beer, dark light and unfiltered. Quiet place away from the center, ideally booked. I recommend it for a family vacation

Great Schäuferla…..but unfortunately….. We actually wanted to eat duck, which was on the menu but had probably not been available for a while…. And the fact that even though the dessert order was taken before 9 p.m. and then the kitchen suddenly closed is not a proper orientation towards a satisfied guest... it's a shame

Online reservation didn't work, nobody knew about it even though the reservation had been confirmed online. We still just got a table, food is ok. Weller beer is a matter of taste, mine is not. All in all, a recommendation if you don't plan on coming by car.

Very appealing ambience in the large dining room with some slightly separated areas at the edge. Very good cuisine, perfect service. Prices raised. Reservation recommended, but not always necessary. Also suitable for carting.

Everything superlative Impeccable service

Very funny location. Electricity generation and economy in one building. The furnishings have a lot of flair, not a typical inn but rather a spacious hall. At the top of the gallery there are 8 tons of home-brewed beer in steel barrels. The generator is running next door - inaudible. The menu also includes several vegetarian main courses! You should definitely eat the cabbage rolls filled with buckwheat. Delicious tomato sauce, delicious puree, delicious salad. Meat eaters don't miss out either. Extensive drinks list. The staff is consistently friendly. Unfortunately, our service man was pushy; I guess I wanted to set the mood. Regardless: The Thalermühle is recommended.

Honest, excellent quality, Franconian "soul food" without unnecessary frills. Both Schäufele and Gans were simply good! Service was super friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. Gladly again!

I would like to write in a little more detail. We recently reserved a table on a Friday evening. When we arrived, the waitress gave us a "Monday menu" without comment. When we asked, we were given a normal version with drinks and the information that only the dishes on the reduced menu were available. The reason is probably a lack of staff in the kitchen. At the bar there was a notice for a current special beer. That wasn't available to us either, only to our fellow shareholders. That really annoyed us and that's why there are only 3 well-intentioned stars. The food was delicious and the service was able to organize a lot more from the kitchen. The dining room is very nice, but the seating was so tight that some people were constantly jostling. To sum up: we didn't really feel welcome. Too bad! ...but we'll try again because it could be nice...

Yesterday, after too long, I was there again, the best Schäuferla in the region, at least for me!

Nice restaurant on Wiesengrund near the large parking lot. Delicious Franconian food, something for everyone. The staff is friendly and helpful. The menu is a clipboard, this could still be improved. Toilets are available on the upper floor, a baby changing room and a toilet for people with disabilities are available on the ground floor. Unfortunately, there are few parking spaces in front of the door; these should be left to guests with walking difficulties. A short walk and you have enough parking space at the Erlangen large car park. I didn't see any play options for the little ones, so it's better to take activity materials with you.

Delicious. Fast service. Not that cheap. The "pink fried pork tenderloin" was not pink, but still very tasty. We were all very satisfied. The beer also tastes very good.

For the steam beer brewed on site only for friends with min. Asking for 500 euros per month is a big impudence...it's not that great by the way...I've already tried it...but the scenery and surroundings are still great!! Nice beer garden, service depends a bit on the day. Parking for bicycles on site, cars have to go to the large parking lot nearby. Portions are rather large in my opinion, take a Tupperbox with you if you want to save waste.

Very very nice. The decor is awesome, the beer is good and the food is delicious (the schnitzels were fried in a pan with butter to taste). The service was also super friendly and there were coloring books and crayons for the children. I'll definitely come here more often! I can't wait for their own beer to be brewed there and I'm already looking forward to the beer garden next summer.

I can't judge food. We were there just for a beer during a bike tour. Outside the opening times. Still super friendly and the beer was simply great. Will definitely go there again and then also for dinner. So all in all worth a visit.

Very tasty food, I had by far the best Schäuferle here. The ambience is amazing, with a beautiful view of the Regnitz. The service was unbeatable, always friendly and always with the right message.

I ordered and ate homemade spaetzle, spaetzle was not homemade, spaetzle cheese was convenience sauce, asked the waiter beforehand if there was homemade spaetzle, confirmed, later asked the second waiter, said no and then said yes, actually no homemade spaetzle and sauce was "horrible". There was also a note on the internet that additives were used for shelf life... but not available on the local menu... Colleagues had eaten Schäufle and were satisfied, but I also saw that phosphates, flavor enhancers, etc. were used.... All in all, simply a “no go” experience in my experience!

A bit remote and inconspicuous, but a pearl. From the friendly service, the rustic but cozy atmosphere, many tasty beers to honest local dishes - you won't miss anything here. The scooping was excellent, the wheat beer was tasty - we'll be back.
