Delicious food and super nice owner

Today, a group of four, we ate here for the first time. It certainly won't be the last. Everyone's food was delicious and plentiful, and the service was friendly and attentive. They even asked how we'd like to pay. I appreciated that, as there was a couple (who paid together) and two individuals who had separate checks. If it had been a bit warmer, I would have given it five stars.

Unfortunately, the attempt to give honest, personal criticism over the phone was impossible and stifled by constant justifications about how well they sold that day. I've rarely eaten as badly as I did today, not even at Yamas before. But with such a lack of listening skills and receptiveness to criticism, this was probably my last time. There are several Greek snack bars in Neuss that are far superior. Updated 4 years later: Absolutely recommendable for its traditional Greek food. Excellent value for money. The second Greek taverna in Neuss that is truly authentic and good.

We visited this small but very fine tavern for the first time yesterday. We received a very warm welcome. The table reservation worked out perfectly. We felt very comfortable from the start! The appetizer of fried sardines and feta wrapped in bacon with fantastic grilled bread was already very good, but the gyro plate with potato chips and chicken skewers with vegetables was absolutely fantastic. The cuisine is Mediterranean and highly recommended! The friendliness and service deserve a full 5 stars. We would love to come back. It's like a little piece of vacation at home. The evening was soooo lovely; we enjoyed it to the fullest. We even stayed a little longer to make the most of it. Thank you for this wonderful evening.

I highly recommend this tavern. I arrived as a stranger and was welcomed like family. The service was super friendly. My gyro was very good. I also really liked potato chips instead of fries. I had a Fuchsen-Alt (a German beer). They also serve other drinks. If the weather is nice, you can sit outside. Since all the tables were reserved on Friday, I'll call ahead next time.

A very pleasant restaurant – family-run and warm. We visited the restaurant for the first time and were immediately given a very warm welcome. The atmosphere is friendly. All the dishes were freshly prepared and delicious. The gyro, in particular, was juicy and pleasantly seasoned. The homemade coleslaw was crisp and also very tasty. The appetizer platter offers a great selection of different specialties – all delicious and prepared with lots of love. The bread served with it was warm, lightly grilled, and a perfect accompaniment to the appetizers. The team is extremely friendly and attentive. We would definitely come back!

A quaint family-run restaurant. Everything is still cooked by the mother herself. They also offer tasty snacks and delicious daily specials. The prices are unbeatable. Thank you for still having such fair restaurateurs.

We spent a week in Germany near Düsseldorf. Before leaving, we visited Neuss, and we should have come here before if only for this restaurant. A small Greek-style tavern with about 50 seats inside and, in good weather, additional seating outside, although it's located on a busy street. The interior is clean and neat, and the staff is prompt and friendly. The ordered dishes taste good, but unspectacular. The prices are too high for what's on offer. Taramas as an appetizer, for example, costs a whopping €6.90!

Very delicious, the owner cooks, everything is always fresh, it's a family business. They always make sure everything is perfect and the customer is satisfied. I highly recommend it, and I'll be back again and again.

Yia Mas Small, typical Greek tavern in downtown Neuss with 12 tables... the mom still cooks here! Very friendly service! They serve Warsteiner, Bolten, and Füchschen beer. The delicious food is served on standard-sized plates, with toasted bread on the side. Caution: Be careful with the salt 🧂 and pepper shakers, they spill a lot... Cash only! Update July 5, 2025 Card payments are now accepted, tips are only accepted in cash. Gyros very dry and salty, and crumbly in places. Potato chips oily and wobbly. Salad partially wilted. It's been better. Quality has declined, too bad.

They are very kind, warm, and hospitable people. We felt very comfortable and would recommend this restaurant. The food was delicious, and we didn't have to wait long for it.

Nice Greek restaurant with super friendly service. The culinary offerings in the tavern are extensive and delicious. I was particularly impressed by the warm and personal service. If you're in Neuss, like Greek food, and aren't afraid of a fun chat with your waiter, this is the place for you.

What a gem! So glad we found this place. Amazing food served fast with big portions to boot! Staff was friendly, funny, and attentive. The place is not fancy. None of the usual mood lighting and fake stone walls. Way closer to an authentic Greek Taverna. Made me want to book a flight to Greece.

At YiaMas, with Maria, Yanni and Lefti you are in the middle of the family. The price-performance ratio is unbeatable and Maria almost always conjures up daily specials in addition to the existing menu. You can stop here for your lunch break. Many thanks & greetings.

Familiar and when full (be sure to reserve a table) also loud. Strange location of the toilets. Since it's family-run, it can take a while to get your food, we were actually only able to order after 40 minutes and got the first bread with dip after 1 hour and 15 minutes. It was still great, especially the offer of the non-alcoholic nightcap at the end and the nice conversations. The decor is not to my taste, I think plastic flowers have no place in a restaurant.

Wir sind auf Grund der guten Bewertungen zum ersten Mal zum Essen eingekehrt und waren begeistert. Nach einem sehr netten Telefonat und Tischbestellung abends angekommen, Restaurant sehr gut besucht und wir wurden so herzlich vom Sohn des Hauses empfangen. Wir haben verschiedene Gerichte probiert und es war alles sehr sehr lecker. Große Auswahl, große Portionen, auch die der Tapas, alles sehr gut gewürzt, kalte Getränke, alles klasse. Und die ganze Zeit sehr aufmerksame Gastgeber, wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder 💕💕💕

Ein Klassiker der griechischen Kochkunst der 80er Jahre. Ein Restaurant zum Verlieben. Die Speisekarte sowie das Interieur wurde seit den 80ern nicht mehr angefasst. Freundliche Bedienung, Qualität des Essens Standard. Ein gutes Tzatziki gehört selbstverständlich dazu. Die Preise sind dem Jahr 2024 entsprechend angepasst. Hier hört die Tradition aber auf. Auch wenn's hier keinen kulinarischen Hochgenuss oder irgendetwas Tolles gibt, so werden wir hier wieder hingehen und können das Yia Mas empfehlen, wer sich einfach nur in die 80er zurückfallen lassen möchte. Geht hin.

Nice, family-run restaurant. It's basically like in Greece. Dad has a café in the front with his boys, mom cooks really tasty food and the children serve very nicely. There are clean toilets and WiFi. What more do you want.

If the evening is stressful like last night (a Saturday), then please don't spend the whole time arguing with each other. It's okay and normal if you argue with each other, but please not in front of the guests. This quickly seems overwhelmed and unprofessional. As I said, see you next time.

Ein tolles, kleines Familien betriebenes Restaurant. Man kommt an und wird direkt herzlich empfangen. Die Speisekarte ist nicht sehr groß, aber was angeboten wird ist wirklich griechische Küche und sehr lecker.

Wir waren dort Essen weil wir in Neuss auf Montage waren. Kleines Griechisches Restaurant wo die Mama noch selber kocht. Das Essen war wirklich lecker und preislich auch nicht zu teuer. Der Chef des Hauses war sehr nett. Ich kann dieses Restaurant nur empfehlen.

The owner of the restaurant is super nice and friendly. The place is spacious and got enough space for putting the stroller. We order some vegetables appetizers and it came with some bread, food is tasty and serve fast.

Wir hatten eine Empfehlung für das Griechische Restaurant ! Leider war die Enttäuschung risen gross! Heute 14.10.2023 hatten jeder Suflakispiesse bestellt ! Vorher den Kellner gefragt ob das Fleisch gut und auch nicht zu fettig ist ,wurde verneint! Das Fleisch war das schlechteste was wir je in einem Restaurant bekommen hatten!!!! Die eine Hälfte war zäh und die andere Hälfte noch roh ! Die Reaktion des Kellners war " tut mir leid "! Ja dann " Guten Appetit " Uns wird man bei dem Grichen nie Wiedersehen!!!

Ich war das erste mal dort Habe mir einen Gyros gegönnt und war total begeistert. Das Restaurant wird von einer Familie geführt und alle arbeiten dort mit. Erwartet man Schickimicki ist das nicht die erste Anlaufstelle. Wird aber ein Laden erwartet, wo Menschlichkeit und selbstgemachtes wichtig sind ist die eine sehr gute Anlaufstelle. Ich komme gerne wieder einen Gyros essen. So lecker habe ich diesen noch nie gegessen. Danke

Und Jannis macht den Aufenthalt bei Freunden authentisch. Unser Lieblingsgrieche in Neuss. Es gibt schickere, aber die sind nicht so 'grieschisch'. Probiert es aus - Ihr werdet nicht enttäuscht.

Wie es bei einem einfachen Griechen nun mal ist. Einfaches aber durchaus schmackhaftes Essen, spartanische Einrichtung, reduziertes Ambiente, kaum verständlicher Wirt aber dafür freundlicher Service. Alles im mittelmäßigen Bereich. NUN DER HAMMER: 1 Flasche Sprudelwasser (0,75L no-name, EK 0,25€/Flasche) kostet 6 (sechs!) EURO 2300% Marge für ein Grundnahrungsmittel. DAS GEHT GAR NICHT!!! Und hinterlässt einen derben Beigeschmack. (Es sei angemerkt, dass die Portion Gyros mit Chips, Tzatziki und gem. Salat 9,90€ kostet. Wo ist da bitte das Verhältnis?)

Wir haben letztes Jahr mit ca 20 Personen unsere Weihnachtsfeier dort abgehalten und kommen dieses Jahr wieder. Das Essen war super, wir hatten 5 gemischte Vorspeisenplatten bestellt, das war das Einfachste für die Küche , alle waren restlos begeistert und pappesatt. Der Wein war lecker, die Bedienung total nett und preiswert war es auch noch. Die Besitzerin kocht selber, der Sohn bedient.. Einen kleinen Negativpunkt hatten wir. Wir hatten für 19 Uhr bestellt und da stand auch schon das Essen auf dem Tisch, obwohl sie Leute erst nach und nach eintrudelten. Es tat dem Abend aber keinen Abbruch, dieses Jahr haben wir den Tisch für 19 Uhr reserviert , das Essen aber erst für 19.30 bestellt. Da sollte man drauf achten, wenn man mit einer größeren Gruppe kommt. Wir freuen uns schon auf die diesjährige Feier

Wir probieren immer wieder neue Lokale aus, und waren echt begeistert. Das Essen ist lecker, frisch und preiswert. Man kommt als Gast und geht als Freund.

Ich war mehrmals im Yia Mas. Der Service ist sehr freundlich, die Speisen ausreichend und lecker, die Preise sind OK. Allerdings strahlt das Yia Mas nicht den Charme eines Restaurants aus, es ist eher das Klima einer großen, gemütlichen "Kneipe", was aber nicht als negativ zu verstehen ist, man sollte dies aber wissen.
