Very nice restaurant with well prepared good tasting Greek food, retsina and real Greek coffee. I would really recommend a visit

After watching football, everyone fled the store, which says a lot about this establishment. The highlight, however, was that we then stood in line at the checkout for about 40 minutes to pay. Yes, you read that right and no, this is not a supermarket. Payment is not made at the table but at the cash register, which means around 5 minutes per passenger due to the lack of digitalization. The people in front of us had the foresight to order a beer in line. The atmosphere deserves 0 stars.

The restaurant looks very small from the outside, but the inside is very nice. When it came to the menu, we weren't sure whether we were at a Greek or an Italian restaurant. The food was OK

The restaurant is not recommended. The food was sober, the fries were cold and the Aperol was served in mixing glasses from the neighboring bar. The restaurant has as much ambience as a polling station and the chairs are badly damaged. They seem to have made an effort to furnish the restaurant in a particularly careless manner. You say goodbye with the words “Tip can be left on the table.”

For all those who want to discover a part of Romanian cuisine or for the Romanian community in the area, I strongly recommend this restaurant! The lady waiter is extremely helpful and also a good quality of food! Thank you 🙏🏼❤️

If I could I would give 0 stars!

We, a group of four people, were there to watch football at the weekend. We know that it is loud and crowded and not exactly comfortable. For football there is only a smaller menu at normal restaurant prices. which was completely ok. Unfortunately, none of us really enjoyed the food; almost all of us were hungry and only ate a maximum of 1/4 of the plate. One had a hair in the pasta and left everything after a forkful. When we were clearing up, we politely commented that none of us liked it and the eager waiter referred us to the boss and said that some people probably didn't like it. One of us tried to explain it nicely to the boss next door. The boss accused her of lying and was completely unreasonable. Shortly afterwards, the boss came directly to our table again to discuss loudly and to accuse us of having eaten the plates and bringing the store into disrepute with such lies. Many loud and unpleasant discussions later with the request to leave us alone, the discussion continued at the counter while paying. His wife and daughter came over and calmed the situation down. It was consistently unpleasant and inappropriate and I will not be visiting this store again.

Food was grilled a little too much so that some of it was burnt. But the worst part was the billing. Too many beers were written down for us. The bill was anything but transparent. In addition, the owner apparently sits at the cash register and, according to the staff, keeps all the tips himself. So if you tip, do it directly to the staff and not at the end at the exit. Never go there again.

Good food, fast service. Full on weekends. 1 star deduction. You can only pay at the exit. Not with the friendly waiters. I prefer to give the tip directly so that it really goes through.

We had dinner there for my father's 60th. In his youth, he and some of those present sat together here, hence the visit. It was new for me and my partner. From the outside it looks really run down, not very inviting. Things don't necessarily get any better inside. Lots and lots of space, but dark and uncomfortable. The restaurant is very long and at the end there is a courtyard with a terrace. It's quite uncomfortable to sit there on old plastic chairs. Overall, it simply seems as if a little passion, a breath of fresh air and perhaps even the means for a modernization that is urgently needed are missing. The food was delicious, we didn't have to wait long and the prices were completely reasonable. But the gentleman in service also unfortunately lacked a bit of warmth.

Nice courtyard, nice service and good pizza!

Unfortunately I can't understand the reviews. I was a guest 2 days ago, the atmosphere was loveless and the outside seating resembled that of a garden party. The food confirmed the negative visual impression. It didn't really stand out from a frozen pizza. Even the low price doesn't justify this quality. Overall I was disappointed, I won't be visiting this store again.

We have been coming here for years and have always been satisfied. In summer you can sit wonderfully in the large garden.

Very tasty and inconspicuous restaurant, but delicious food and friendly service

Awesome price if you choose the lunch deals. For 7.50 euro, you get a soup and an array of main dish ranging from pizza, pasta to steaks. I found the pork skewer with tomato rice and salat was outstanding; the pork itself being nice, moist and flavorful. Very warm atmosphere, with lots of decors that makes it seems you're dining in 17th century Europe. Update 27.03.2023 Food taste is okay. Good, but not amazing The main draw is, however, the food portion which is still massive and cheap. Why get a €7.50 Döner when for the same price, you can get a soup, appetiser bread and a whole meal, complete with salad Update 09.08.24 Lunch menu has increased to 9.5 euro, but the price to "taste" ratio is still the same! Moreover, this is my go to place to get western comfort food!

A nice restaurant in itself. We were there with 8 people on a Friday evening. We got seats without any problems without a reservation. The pizzas were somewhat okay. Unfortunately the fish platter was inedible, everything was dripping with fat. The bill couldn't be paid at the table, we had to go straight to the boss. The boss, a very old grumpy man, then tried to rip us off with the drinks. Billing these twice is probably part of his daily routine. A bottle of water 9€?! That's fine in itself, but not when it's a plastic bottle of Volvic water from the penny for €0.69. Maybe something should be done about the presentation and friendliness here. Would we recommend the restaurant? Absolutely no way.

The restaurant "Taverna Romana" is a huge place even though the store front doesn't suggest so. The service was pretty decent given that a lot of the staff members seem to have been on vacation. I had a mixed Italian/Greek salad for starters and really enjoyed it. My main course, a vegetarian dish with lots of cheese and cream was fine as well, but quite heavy - duh :-) Many of the people I was with had a pizza which they said was very well done. The calamari were said to be pretty good, but having to order fries on the side extra seemed a little off. The gyros was said to just be okay. Overall, a good experience!

For Romanians from Hamburg, and not only!!!

The owners and staff were very helpful and the food was fantastic. A great place to watch a game!

We had mussaka and the romaine platter. Both dishes came with a (very simple) salad. Plus a basket of bread. The bread was old and soggy. The romaine platter consisted of several types of meat. The chicken steak was inedible, it smelled and was spoiled. The mussaka was good. The cellar vault is very attractive. Nevertheless, the horror of the spoiled meat prevails. Absolutely no consumption recommendation. Ok as a location to enjoy a few drinks. But you should actually avoid a restaurant where such catastrophic mistakes happen.

The food is not that great neither is the atmosphere. It's a place for football lovers. To sit and watch the game.And the service depends on the person. Mario who works there,is awesome

Super fast and friendly service and delicious pizza

The food was excellent, the owners and all the employees tried very hard and fulfilled our every wish. Price performance is completely okay and actually cheap for the service. We were there for the first time to celebrate a birthday and were spontaneously given a nice room for it because a guest came along unannounced. You feel at home, very familiar and the bosses come personally to check whether everything is okay. Just great. We will be back definitely. Everything was great! Thank you for the wonderful afternoon with you!

Redesign, very nice with room for improvement

As is well known, food, drink and prices are mediocre. There was nothing wrong with that until payment came. On that evening there was a lot going on because of a football game. But what happened at the checkout was, without any ifs and buts, absolutely catastrophic. A card machine was in use, which meant we had to wait 30 minutes for payment. Of course there was a bit more going on and you could have paid earlier, but that's not possible at all. The plans after that were for the ton. With such volume, other bars and restaurants can do it too. Unfortunately you have to measure yourself against that and you haven't delivered anything here. Sorry

Top place to watch football, good prices, nice service

Two of the four dishes were tasty. The other two were "edible" but not tasty. In addition, the Radler/Alster was very thinly mixed. The waiter was friendly, but pointed out to us that we should please leave the tip at the table, as the tip would be unfairly distributed when paying at the cash register.

1 star because you couldn't give zero The payment system there is absolutely incomprehensible. You pay at the door on the way out. But if, like yesterday, more than 200 people want to go out at the same time after a football game, then you stand there for at least 30-40 minutes and can't get out. In addition, you deprive the waiters of their well-deserved tips. That's not fair and having to wait there for so long spoiled what had been a good evening.

The platter was inedible and what I wanted to eat was not available because the prices had risen, according to the waitress. Most of it was canned. It's a shame, the ambience is great, but before you enter you see the open kitchen, which looked very unkempt.

A classic for watching football. Good view thanks to the large screen and additional television. Hard-working waiters ensure drinks are replenished quickly, even when it was full like Tuesday. Only at the end there was a long queue to pay. But probably an exception because it was really full.

My friends and I wanted to meet at this place to watch the Madrid - Bayern game on Tuesday. When I arrived, my friends were already seated and had ordered drinks. Shortly after I sat down, the man taking orders came to our table and said exactly what he said: "Oh, you're so dark, I almost didn't see you." I was absolutely shocked, I was speechless for a few seconds because I really thought I had misunderstood him. I then asked him about his choice of words and he defended himself by saying that he is not a racist, he has black friends, his wife comes from another country, and so on. This is absolute garbage because if you're not racist, why are racist comments the first thing you say to a complete stranger who hasn't done or said anything to you? This was brought to the attention of the lady who we thought was the owner of the shop, who also claimed that her brother was not racist and that as a company they did not tolerate racism.

Super friendly restaurant with Hamburg history, plus the original painting and the beautiful vault under which you can sit and eat. There is an event location at the back of the restaurant, the toilets are getting old and everything is a little old-fashioned. However, you don't want to spend a long time in the toilet and in the Schanzenviertel you shouldn't expect a first-class toilet here. The food was wonderful, the bread with dip was simple but still tasted good. The prices are also super cheap and we also eat such good arrabiata. We'll be happy to come back the next time we visit HH!

People who cheat when paying!!!! You have to make sure that you take your receipt with you when you pay. We paid €17 for a small salad.

If you want to impress a date, don't go to Taverna Romana. If you want to invite the parents of your relevant person, you don't go to the taverna. If you want to spend a nice evening with a group with a wide range of wishes in an unpretentious and relaxed manner at a reasonable price: THEN you go to Taverna Romana! There is a relatively large courtyard with umbrellas, at least to protect against a cloudburst, where smoking is allowed. The portions are generous, the cuisine is straightforward and honest, but really not refined. The service is family-friendly. The Taverna Romana is one of the best remnants of the Schanze before the wave of gentrification. May it last forever and its murals, like oil paintings by Rembrandt, slowly become browner and browner!

Good food, super friendly staff

Really tasty and the rustic atmosphere is great. You feel like you're in Italy, although the menu also includes Greek dishes. My large appetizer plate was great and so were my family's pizzas!

Die Angestellten waren sehr freundlich und machen ab und zu auch Späße. Und das Essen das Essen war sehr lecker l. Auf jedenfalls sehr empfehlenswert dort zum Mittag oder zum Abendessen hinzugehen

So I came here with my dad after he travelled for 24 hours from Trinidad and we loved everything. The wine paired with the food , the owners are absolutely amazing and the atmosphere and ambience is priceless !! I can’t wait to be back again thank you for an amazing time and welcoming my family and I this way ! Absolutely recommend !

Taverna Romana offers a selection of Greek and Italian dishes. The staff was very nice and had a family atmosphere among themselves. The ambience was interesting and definitely worth a visit. We felt very comfortable and will come back.

Is a place where I feel at home. As a Romanian, it is quite difficult to find a place that serves good romanian food and this one for sure does. Staff is also friendly and bonus points, we are always finding tables for our big group without reservation.

Was there for a few hours on a Sunday to watch football. The screen is big, the atmosphere was good, the store was consistently busy, the food and drink were tasty and affordable. I was particularly impressed by the friendly waiter. First a game was on Sky, then one on DAZN. Strong risk of recurrence.

Lunch for 8.50 with soup, bread and aioli. Really tasty and fills you up, what more could you want.

It was very cozy, the service was very relaxed and friendly, you could take a hit and the boss would collect the money himself. We felt very comfortable and the food was very tasty.

Very good typical Romanian food, I recommend 🫡

The cellar vault is painted with a centuries-old painting from Hamburg. It's all very nice, inviting and cozy. The staff was very friendly and we all felt very comfortable. If you want, there is also an area for smokers where you can watch football. The food was good and I would go here again. You're also in the middle of the Schanzenviertel and can spend the night there if you like. PS: I had an Italian/Greek starter plate. The other pizza, gyros etc. 👍🏻

If you want to eat in peace and without cigarette smoke, you should take a seat at the front of the restaurant. In the direction of the inner courtyard you can watch football - but you can also smoke there.

The atmosphere is great, rustic, a little run down but also very familiar. A large menu, reasonable prices, very friendly service. I always like the food very much. It can be chaotic at times and the interior is quite old, but the shop offers a lot of space and you can always get a table.

We were there for the first time yesterday. We were greeted very friendly by a lady who let us choose a table. The inside of the restaurant is simply world class, really rustic and very cozy. The service was the friendliest in the world, very accommodating and even brought us the best aioli with baguette to the table. The starter came very quickly and was extremely tasty and the main course came to the table quite quickly and hot. The food was simply great overall and very good value for money. We would love to come back again.

The Greek food here was very authentic and nice. A lot of nice places to see in the area also They also have some good wines from Greece and Italy. Very fairly priced also.

Nu recomand. Gazda (proprietara, cred) foarte drăguță și am stat de vorba la final. Parcare - nu au parcare proprie, trebuie cautat Zona - șocant, multa politie și oameni ai strazii. Local - impresionant..a fost un local frumos odată, însă nu a fost întreținut. Mult praf, lustre care aproape cad. Baia nu a fost reparata..sunt multe stricăciuni și mizerie generala care arata lipsa de mentenanță, interes. Servire - ok.ish Mâncare - am comandat sarmale care aveau un gust pronunțat de acru. M-am gândit ca poate e varza și am dat-o la o parte, dar același gust. Carnea nu era suculenta, ci seaca. Am fost convinsa ca nu sunt proaspete. Băutură (suc de mere) - adusa de undeva din spate la pahar. Din nou, nu știam ce beau. Prefer la sticla într-un asemenea local, ca să știu ca e safe de băut. Atmosfera - ok. Muzica pe fundal.

Essen war sehr gut und reichlich, das Ambiente sehr schön und der Service 1A, haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen auch gerne wieder, selber mal probieren.

Wir waren zu 8 Personen und haben uns super wohl gefühlt.

Komme seit mehr als 30 Jahren und immer wieder sehr gerne. Die familiäre herzliche Atmosphäre ist einmalig und nicht zu übertreffen. Chefin und Chef sind immer noch täglich im Restaurant und bilden das Herzstück!!! Mit großem Engagement und Liebe wird hier noch bedient und sich dem Gast gewidmet. Für mich unerreicht in diesem Sektor. Das Essen ist damals wie heute von Super Qualität. Die Portionen sind groß und reichen auch für mächtigen Hunger. Jederzeit wieder.

Ich wollte hier mit meinem Trauzeugen zusammen Abendessen. Leider haben wir nur jeder 8 Bier getrunken und sind raketendicht in den nächsten Laden gewankt. Der einzige der noch voller war als wir, war der Kellner. Genialer Abend und jederzeit wieder 10/10

Wer Fleischlastig essen möchte, sollte sich lieber für etwas anderes entscheiden...ich hatte ein Kebab (Bifteki) und Gyros, das Fleisch hatte einen strengen Geruch und schmeckte entsprechend nach altem Schweinefleisch, der Zaziki war lecker. Der Service sowie alle Mitarbeiter waren sehr nett. Da man am Ausgang bezahlt, konnte ich einen Blick in die Küche erhaschen...hätte ich das vorab gesehen, wäre ich gleich wieder raus gegangen, das ganze Restaurant ist leider alles andere als sauber. Fazit: Super schade, da das Ambiente wirklich schön ist und der Service sehr nett, aber bevor ich "Gammelfleisch" esse, bleib ich lieber zu Hause oder gehe woanders hin.

Cea mai buna ciorba de burta ...chiar comparativ cu cea din Romania....probabil ca navetisti moldoveni ca domnul radu emil au fost dezamagiti din motive de haterism....culmea ca prostia dumnealui cum ar fi cuvantul ,,naspa'' a iesit in germana ca ciorba a fost ft buna....!!!!

Inhabergeführtes italienisches Restaurant. Das Essen war geschmacklich in Ordnung, die Portionsgrößen hingegen viel zu klein. Das Essen auf dem Bild hat 15€ gekostet. Die Kellner sind freundlich und schnell.

Super Service und Ambiente! Vorspeisen, Hauptspeisen, sowie der Weißwein waren hervorragend! Wenn wir das nächste Mal in Hamburg sind, werden wir dieses Restaurant auf jeden Fall nochmals besuchen!

Meine Pizza war in Ordnung. Der Service war leider nicht gut. Während eine Kellnerin zunächst sehr freundlich und bemüht war, waren unsere späteren beiden Kellner unaufmerksam und genervt. Zum Bezahlen mussten wir uns in eine lange Warteschlange beim Chef anstellen, das geht für mich gar nicht. Die Kellner baten deshalb darum, das Trinkgeld für sie direkt auf den Tisch zu legen?! Das Ambiente war überhaupt nicht schön. Der Raum, in dem wir noch Platz bekamen, war laut, sehr hell und unangenehm beleuchtet und nicht ansprechend eingerichtet. Restaurant und Toiletten waren nicht gut gereinigt. Insgesamt war ich dort das erste und letzte Mal zu Gast.

Es ist einfach der Hammer hier. Bin das erste Mal hier. Essen fantastisch. Service sehr gut. Und ein gemütliches Ambiente. Komme auf jeden Fall wieder .
