We were there with 15 people, everyone, really everyone, was very happy with their food, it was super tasty, the service was unbeatable in terms of attentiveness. We were made to feel at home. Thank you for that!!

By far the best Italian in Hamburg. Everything just fits here. The quality of the food, the staff and the atmosphere are 100% perfect. Even the boss is always on site and gives you the feeling that you are in an oasis of well-being.

Went there twice during our visit to Hamburg and the reviews weren't exaggerated. The food is super delicious, beef fillet is buttery soft, rump steak is on point, instead of vegetables I had delicious spaghetti with it. According to my girls, tagliatelle with salmon is absolutely delicious. Service top. Live cooking. And aperitif & digestif on the house, which I only know from the Greek with ouzo. Unfortunately Hamburg is too far away, otherwise it would be our regular Italian from now on...👍🏻🙏🏻😋

Really delicious foods but they asked to pay with cash and I had to get money from ATM and back to pay. Otherwise, everything was really good!

THE top Italian restaurant: varied dishes, very good wine selection, top ambience and service.

Everything is fantastic - the only thing that was a bit too loud for us was the music, as older people sometimes have difficulty hearing. The particularly successful dishes are worth highlighting!

The shop is packed with mostly young people, reception with a glass of champagne on the house, food and drinks great and at completely acceptable prices, Giovanni and the team are very welcoming and on the ball, you have to deal with the noise in the restaurant.

I've been going there regularly for over 20 years. Previously 5, now only 4 stars, but still recommended. Nice atmosphere. Restaurant was always exceptionally cheap compared to others. Unfortunately that is no longer the case. The free Ramazotti after dinner apparently no longer exists either. Food was really okay, but not outstanding. Unfortunately, the back area is as cramped as sardines in a can. I found that a bit uncomfortable and it wasn't that tight before.

I’ve been here twice and I truly love here!! The first time I got schrimp pasta and second time duck pasta. They are both SO DELICIOUS!!! My friends got pizzas. They are amazing too! They serve breads and wine before the meal. The butter is SUPER yummy and the white wine tastes good too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND:)

We had the pleasure of spending our Christmas party with 24 people at Restaurant Giovanni Rocco and it was an unforgettable evening! As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed with an aperitif on the house and had a nice small talk with Giovanni - a gesture that started the evening perfectly. The hospitality of the entire team was outstanding. After the aperitif we were all served a glass of Prosecco, which further increased the festive mood. The organization was impeccable: despite our large group, everyone received their food at the same time, and the quality of the food was first class. As a starter we were served a delicious antipasti platter. The pasta was excellently prepared, and the meat and fish dishes left nothing to be desired. The atmosphere of the restaurant is traditional and cozy, ideal for our Christmas party. We were particularly impressed by the attentive service. The staff was always present without being intrusive and responded to individual requests. At the end of the evening, our employees were able to treat themselves to a drink at the bar - a generous gesture that rounded off the evening perfectly. A big thank you to Giovanni Rocco's team for this extraordinary evening. We are already looking forward to our next visit and can highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!

We went there today, January 5th, 2025, after a spontaneous visit to a musical. When I asked to reserve a table for 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., I received a prompt response: come over, it works. We were greeted warmly and had a nice chat in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the second room, which, despite being well occupied, didn't get too loud. As soon as we were seated, a drink greeting came from the kitchen and with the order some white bread with herb butter or oil, pepper and salt. Bruscetta, some ruccola - delicious - Calzone - good Papparedelle con Porcini - delicious Pizza Magarita - delicious At the end there was also a grappa, amaretto or espresso on the house. Everything was great and a recommendation for anyone who wants a good and cheap Italian restaurant around the corner in St.Pauli.

After my third visit to this wonderful restaurant, I finally have to leave a review that does justice to the excellent food and service. Shortly after receiving our table, two aperitifs were already on our table, which were a gift from the restaurant. And this was the case with every guest who came to the restaurant. A really great and now rare gesture. We once ordered bruschetta for two people as a starter, but the extremely friendly and charismatic waiter brought us each bruschetta as a starter, but he immediately pointed out that we only had to pay for one. What a service! For the main course we order pasta with truffle sauce, fresh truffle and strips of beef steak as well as a pizza with diavolo salami, truffle sauce, fresh truffle, parmesan and rocket. Both dishes tasted outstanding. Completely satisfied so far, we couldn't leave this Italian restaurant without dessert, so we ordered mascarpone with fresh strawberries and a tiramisu. The waiting time was shortened at this point with a light and fresh hazelnut liqueur - of course this was again on the house. When it came to the desserts, we were once again impressed by the fresh ingredients and the incredible taste. With the entire meal we ordered two glasses of Primitivo and a bottle of mineral water. In total we paid €82.50, which seemed more than reasonable considering the quantity and the overall success of the meal as well as the very good service, so we were prepared to give a generous tip at this point. So it can be said that it is very worthwhile to visit Giovanni Rocco if you have an appetite for fantastic Italian food and want to be completely pampered. An incredibly great Italian that deserves much more than this five-star rating!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The restaurant is a bit noisy when it's full, but it has a nice atmosphere and good food. Of course, it is particularly well attended on New Year's Eve. If, like us, you reserve a table for two people many weeks in advance and then nothing is known about it and you are seated at the famous cat table between the entrance and the counter, this is annoying. After a short discussion, we got a seat at a table for four at the back of the restaurant and left after just 90 minutes. Service was competent, quick and friendly.

The best truffle pasta I have ever eaten in Germany. I can really recommend it! Pizza was great too. Always happy when we are in Hamburg!!

Once again we were pleasantly surprised by an amazing dinner. Admittedly we did look at the google ratings before deciding to dine here. Where do I start. The restaurant has a flair, a mix of Italian tradition and somehow cosy. Although when we phoned to reserve we were told it’s not necessary because it’s quite we found it to be well visited and by no means crowded. The food was amazing. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to take photos but they would not look any different from those that ate already posted here. The service was very good. The wine selection was limited but perfect 👌. I can only recommend this for anyone looking for a good meal in a restaurant where people still understand their business.

Delicious food, but so busy that it's too tight depending on where you sit. Staff great for the rush we experienced. The ambience is probably a lot nicer when there are few guests on site. But definitely worth a visit. Watching the pasta being made at the counter is simply brilliant 😊

There were three of us there in the evening. The food was fantastic, delicious, that's what Italian cuisine tastes like. If you want to spend a quiet evening, this is the place for you. The atmosphere is just like Italy, warm, a little louder, but always hospitable. We'll see each other again next time we visit Hamburg.

Unfortunately our reservation was lost when we wanted to visit the restaurant on November 23rd, 2024. It seemed we weren't the only ones feeling this way. The already very cramped restaurant was full of people who were supposed to be put off with a glass of champagne. We were supposed to wait 10 minutes, but after that there was still no table available and more and more people came, so that the restaurant was completely overcrowded and the staff was overwhelmed. We then decided to go….

At Giovanni's you can eat very, very tasty food. I can also recommend the house recommendation beetroot gnocchi. The staff was very friendly and quick. There is a point deduction for the ambience because it gets very loud in the restaurant when there is a lot of visitors.

Very nice atmosphere not far from the Reeperbahn! Had a very good meal there! Get a free Prosecco at the beginning and a schnapps afterwards! The waiters very friendly and helpful! The only negative is that I would have liked to reserve a table, but I couldn't reach anyone with the number posted online! Nobody responded to emails either! We'd love to come back!

Cozy and authentic Italian that makes you feel good. There was a welcome aperitif. Starters were very tasty. The pizzas were okay, but the pasta looked great. You should reconsider the “paying area”, it is located right next to the toilets. If it's really full and you have to wait there for a short time, you'll quickly get a door in the back.

Lens can be given 5* here. Personally, it was too small for me and at times too loud, but that's what makes it so charming for some others. The pizza is original Italian, the base is perfectly thin. The portions were good, there was a sparkling wine on the house, bread with herb butter as a starter, also on the house. The service is very friendly and you feel like you are in good hands here.

Oh well... To be honest, we didn't particularly like it. The store was so incredibly crowded and loud that we could barely hold a conversation. The pizzas were okay, but nothing special. The service was great, there was nothing to complain about. Unfortunately, we wouldn't go back again.

If you prefer it quiet, this isn't the right place for you! True to the temperament of Italy, it is loud, but more like being at home in a kitchen with an extended family, it is rustic! You feel invited to a shared meal with fine ingredients, balanced and coordinated spices, delicious wines and a relaxed atmosphere that is not often found these days. Now the food: simply great. Quite apart from the fact that the price-performance ratio is absolutely excellent, you really get the most delicious dishes served here, the preparation of which you can also watch from the front dining room, as the dishes are made in an open kitchen. We'll definitely be back!!!!

The four of us spontaneously went in and were immediately given a table with the information that it would be needed in an hour, which was completely fine with us. Everyone is welcomed with a small Prosecco to groove into. As always, the restaurant was packed, loud and hot - in a nice way. Food came quickly and - as previously mentioned - starters and main courses at the same time. It was awesome. The lamb fillet melted in your mouth, the bruschetta was fresh and tasty, the truffle sauce was delicious. Big praise and respect to the team on site for the service that is still offered during the evening business.

The service here was really first class. Before the menus were given, an aperitif was put on the table and greetings from the kitchen. I have never experienced the huge burrata like that before. After the delicious pizza there was a schnapps on the house. I can highly recommend this Italian restaurant.

Three of us dined here on a Thursday evening. The restaurant was very busy even though it was during the week. Good thing we reserved a table in advance. You can do this on the homepage and then you will receive a confirmation by email. As soon as we sat down we were given a glass of champagne, bread with garlic butter and a bruschetta each on the house. For the main course we had homemade porcini mushroom ravioli with truffle cream sauce, tagliatelle with mascarpone/chestnuts/scampi and spaghetti with prawns. We were very enthusiastic about the delicious food and of course we didn't miss out on dessert. There was tiramisu and tartoffo strawberry. Unfortunately, the dessert didn't blow us away as much as the pasta. But that's not a bad thing, next time we'll know what's going on and we'll order a portion of starter or pasta instead of dessert :) Giovanni Rocco is what you would imagine a typical Italian restaurant to be: loud, crowded, narrow, cozy and warm. I thought it was really great, thank you very much! I'm already looking forward to my next visit there :)

Food was very tasty, a bit cramped but cozy. Unfortunately, our waitress was very unfriendly and, despite a reservation, simply threw us out after almost an hour, even though we still wanted dessert and coffee. The argument was that they told us we would only have the table until that time, which was never the case. With this disrespectful treatment, even good food is of no use.

The food was delicious. The service was so unfriendly and after an hour told us to pay and leave. Cash payment only. It's a shame that you had to experience such unfriendly service because it ended the evening in a bad mood.

The Giovanni Rocco restaurant in Hamburg is a good address for Italian cuisine. Particularly noteworthy are the pasta with boiled beef – a successful combination of tender meat and perfectly prepared pasta. Even if the shop is a bit old, it still exudes a cozy charm that invites you to linger. The prices are absolutely justified, especially considering the quality of the food. Another plus point are the extremely friendly waiters who look after the guests attentively. Definitely worth a visit!

After standing in vain in front of closed doors at two other locations on a Tuesday afternoon, we tried our luck at Giovanni's and were not disappointed! The nice service employee had already seen our suffering and was very accommodating, nice but not intrusive. All three of us had pizza, which was ready quickly, tasted great and was more than enough. Absolutely great value for money, we would love to come back.

I had dinner there with my family yesterday and I have to say it was really tasty. The service was really nice, there was a glass of Prosecco on the house and delicious bread with a very tasty herb butter dip. The pizza was amazing, it was so big that it didn't even fit on the plate. Price-performance ratio was top. It wasn't the last time we were there. Highly recommended.

I had dinner there with my girlfriend for our anniversary. We were greeted warmly at the reception and shown to a comfortable table. The ambience is quite narrow, but at the same time cozy, which creates a pleasant atmosphere. However, the volume in the room is quite high, which is understandable given the size, but makes conversation difficult. A nice touch was the champagne and bread that were served to us as a welcome - the bread was particularly delicious. As a starter we had Vitello Tonnato, which tasted very good and is definitely worth recommending. For the main course: I had the penne with truffles and I have to say they were fantastic. Since I come from the catering industry myself, I have high standards, but the taste was really excellent - light and perfectly balanced. My girlfriend had a pepperoni pizza. It was typically Italian, very thin, but a little too thin for our taste. Nevertheless, the topping was excellent and the overall taste was above average. All in all it was a very successful evening. The pasta in particular was my highlight, and we would definitely come back. Great service, nice ambience, friendly boss and clean toilets. We even drove two hours that evening – and it was absolutely the right decision!

We spontaneously went to eat at the restaurant and got a table inside. The place is really chic but it was extremely loud inside because everything was pretty full. We were served quickly and the drinks were quickly at the table. Food also came a short time later. I had a lasagna which was okay. Most of the others at the table had pizza, and they were really, really good.

Unfortunately, the four of us had to wait over an hour for our food, even though the people at the next table came 20 minutes after us and got their food 15 minutes before us. When we finally got the food and were finished with it, we were told that payment was only possible in cash. Then we went to the next ATM, which wasn't so bad anyway as your bottom was really hurting from the hard, uncushioned seats after all that time. The food is good in terms of price-performance, but with the service with repeated requests for the food and no card payment, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone for a relaxed evening. Too bad...

We “only” had bruschetta and a Margherita pizza, but it tasted so boring and bland that we added more seasoning. Payment by card was not possible. It would have been nice to have been able to point this out before ordering. So we first had to run to the bank and get cash. The aperitif was of no use either, especially since the glasses weren't clean.
