Taverna Ousia in Berlin

Unser 24er Herbst-Treffen mit ehemaligen Arbeitskollegen fand diesmal im Lokal Taverna Ousia statt, im Kiez gelegen, nahe Bayrischem Platz. Von außen eher unscheinbar, aber innen durchaus urig, gut besucht. Das Personal freundlich, aufmerksam und mit einer mediterranen Ruhe ausgestattet…. Die Überraschung für mich war das qualitativ gute Essen. Zur Vorspeise die gegrillten Calamaris in Olivenöl-Zitronendressing. Mega zart gegrillt, geschmacklich gut, mit Salatbeilage, wirklich empfehlenswert . Nach kurzer Pause als Hauptgericht das Bifteki gemisto (Schwein-, Lamm- und Rinderhackfleisch) gefüllt mit mildem Schafskäse, Zwiebeln, Paprika und Tomate. Dazu frittierte Kartoffelscheiben und Tzatziki. Echt klasse, geschmacklich gut abgestimmt. Lecker! Einen Original griechischen Nachtisch gab‘s vom Haus (wie immer sehr süß, muss man mögen) „on top“ und natürlich den obligatorischen Ouzo. Ein kulinarisch gelungener Abend…. Kann ich durchaus weiterempfehlen.

A lovely evening in a Greek tavern. Delicious food, great ambience and great service. We visited the restaurant 13 years ago and were really impressed with the whole thing back then. Even after so many years, this tavern has remained true to its motto and presents guests with a certain holiday feeling. Escape the big city on a little vacation in Greece! We'll definitely be back and hopefully soon :)

No matter how many times we came, it was perfect

Leider war alles sehr durchschnittlich: Essen, Bedienung, Ambiente. Wenn man Vorspeisen bestellt und kurz danach zeitgleich schon die Hauptspeisen kommen, dann weiß man, dass man als Gast nicht gewertschätzt wird.

Food great and not too little, best prawns in Berlin so far. Service incomparable. Great restaurant and, in my opinion, even reasonably priced for what is on offer.

The first time there on a Saturday late afternoon. Very friendly staff and above all a lot of staff. It actually seemed cozy, but it filled up quickly and was quite loud. It was also quite drafty in the front part. So if you're looking for a cozy place to talk in peace, you've come to the wrong place. Food was completely delicious, fresh and hot. We found it irritating that there was no gyros on the menu. But this is just for information and has nothing to do with the rating. The bifteki in particular was super juicy with lots of vegetables and sheep's cheese in it. In any case, you can have a good meal here. However, we know other Greeks at a similar level with more moderate prices. We had a bottle of still water for €6.80, which we find sporty. 2 main courses, a portion of garlic bread and a bottle of water for €70 (including tip) is quite something.

Very cool atmosphere, very nice large rooms... You think you're in Greece, that's the feeling you get when you walk into this restaurant... Food was so delicious, lamb so tender, the home-baked bread was just great... Very friendly staff, you're just welcome here 🙃

Unfortunately I can't say much good things, we went to the Taverna Ousia on multiple recommendations and were unfortunately really disappointed. First of all, we got a cat table on the terrace shortly after it opened at 5 p.m., even though it was completely empty and didn't get much fuller during that time of our stay.But good, I didn't think it was that bad, but the price-performance ratio is not good at all.4 small slices of white bread with a touch of garlic and oregano €3.50, 4 tablespoons of melizanasalata €7.50 (but that was the best of everything), then beetroot, more like pink beetroot, tasted like Kühne's washed ones, the fried zucchini slices had no taste of their own, but had an unpleasant taste of oil that clearly didn't come from olive oil. The crown was the mussels, the broth was also tasteless and I had to leave them after three mussels because they were so mealy that I was worried about fish poisoning. I'm really sorry, I go to Greece three times a year and expected at least a somewhat acceptable level.

We ordered a lot and paid a lot for unacceptably small portions without filling up. It used to be our favorite Greek taverna in Berlin but not anymore.

Very interesting. We ordered something small. It's not that much food, but it was enough for me. We received a very generous dessert from the house, it was amazing! The house also offered schnapps a few times, which I found very pleasant, but we don't drink schnapps. Highly recommended

Been back to you for a long time and what can I say, everything was spot on, the octopus was excellent and the service was courteous.

Zero performance! €22.50 for 6 calamari. Way too expensive.

Good food, unfortunately extremely expensive as everything is charged extra. Waiters tried to be friendly despite the full house. We don't come back simply because we can get similar quality at other Greek restaurants for less than half the price.

7 of us Stopped by Monday night for a nice dinner and we weren’t disappointed. Foods: huge portion and very good. My wife and I always share our foods so we got a salad ($11), a chicken skewer chicken rice dish ($23). Salad was very good. Since we didn’t know how big the portion was, We thought about adding another skewer but it cost $17 so we didn’t do it. Luckily we didn’t because portions was enough for 2. Servers: friendly and fast Atmosphere: even though it was Monday night, but the restaurant was packed with parties and diners. Menu: they also have English version

I was the first time in Taverna Ousia during a professional trip in Berlin. A friend living here suggested this tavern to me. The food is original greek, the ambient and the service excellent. Since then, when I am in Berlin I take my colleges to have the original greek experience. Immer wieder!

Busy and nice atmosphere even for a Monday. Very quick service also, Shared lots of dishes with 3 friends and everything was super fresh, great quality meat and amazing dessert! I Wish I got some pictures but we were too busy enjoying ourselves. Will definitely be back!

What an amazing find. Showed up late night and was seated and delivered what felt like a home cooked meal. The food was fresh, delicious, plentiful and hit the spot. The staff was delightful and attentive. The bill - silly low. Highly recommend.

We couldn't eat, we don't know why but it was like they wanted us to leave the place. They didn't take our order.

We booked an outdoor table one week before, they gave us an indoor table instead. Confusions may happen sometimes, but afterwards we have waited for 40 mins to order, specifically called a waiter twice and nobody looked for us and the attitude felt like we are not wanted. The worst service in a restaurant I have ever encountered.

RUINED OUR BIRTHDAY DINNER. Extremely rude behaviour, didnt care about our reservation, ignored us for an hour, sarcastic attitude. DO NOT GO THERE

Nice interior design that immediately makes you feel like you're in Greece, but the chairs inside aren't particularly inviting or comfortable. The waiters were ALL very accommodating and extremely friendly. The food, however, was only worth 3 stars.

Back from travelling in beautiful Argentina and Uruguay I couldn't wait to test a Greek restaurant in my hometown of Berlin. Instead of the usual thursday-eating-out with my bestie we had to opt for a Friday evening, which is a busy time for Berlin. That might have had an influence on the performance of Taverna Ousia. Although we had a reservation the restaurant manager welcomed us rather unfriendly and started by telling us where we could NOT SIT. Neither warm nor clever. The table we would have preferred was intended for TV-watching guests, he informed us. Odd, that this TV was never activated during our time there and that table was used by other, randomly showing up guests without reservation. The furniture there is, well, not too comfy. The chairs are too low and offer a comfort comparable to garden chairs, as are the tables, which are also too small for even two people - not thinking about four people for which it is intended. Our waiter was very good, but at the same time the food quality was mediocre. Neither extremely good nor extremely bad. The restaurant itself gets very loud if filled by more than 40 % of the maximum capacity.

The food tastes good, but the portions are really too small, which doesn't help the price-performance ratio.

A Greek that stands out because of its good quality. The meat is fried to perfection and therefore beautifully tender. All starters and desserts are impressive.

Despite ordering, the table was sent to the last corner. Several dishes were forgotten and then thought about. Well, unfortunately there are no really beautiful Greeks anymore.

One of our favorite restaurants in Berlin after yesterday’s visit. Everything was fresh and delicious. The wine suggestion was also great, sauvignon blanc and assyrtiko cuvée, very fruty and aromatic. The staff is super helpful and kind.

I have rarely experienced such a wonderful Greek restaurant. The cuisine is at its best, the ambience is great, the service is friendly without being fake and you don't get thrown out, but can let the evening end. The only objection: the octopus could also tolerate a small side dish without you having to order anything extra.

this is a nice restaurant. the staff is attentive. The locations and setting are nice. The food is well prepared. However, given all the choices in Berlin, this is a restaurant I would only recommend if someone was in the area. They will get a nice solid meal. I have nothing negative to say about the experience.

Gestresste Bedienung Abrechnung für getrenntes Zahlen nicht möglich gewesen. Dann wird gefragt ob Trinkgeld Bar oder mit Karte (geht garnicht so ein Vorgehen) wenn mann mit Karte sagt, drückt er die Taste 10%. Danke, nie wieder.

I would be cautious of the recommendations and upselling. We told the waiter, that our group orders a started plate and then additional dishes for each person. The waitor asked if we want some seefood such as octopus and shrimps with the started. Which we happily wanted. Our group asked spesifically if there was just a starter plate, which the waitor complied, and took rest of our individual orders. When the bill came, we learned that the waitor did not ask what we want with the starter plate, but instead they put us full dishes of the most expensive ones on the menü (starter plate costing 18€ and the shrimps 40€). This left a very sour taste of the whole place, since it very much felt like a scam after our group had asked if the waitor understood that we wanted just one starter platter. The waitors kept bumping into our chairs during the whole dinner. The food was great. I would recommend the octopus! The shrimps were meh...

A visit to Taverna Ousia is like a short trip to Greece. Authentic Greek cuisine. Super delicious "small" dishes like the number 13 Dakos or a grilled octopus, which I have never had as tender as in the Taverna Ousia. The service is attentive and friendly, the atmosphere is truly Greek. The prices are absolutely reasonable for the quality offered. I would recommend reservation.

We were given a time limit, and others weren't given unlimited time to visit this restaurant either. The service was substandard, hectic and unprofessional. The food itself was good. The furniture was uncomfortable and didn't invite you to linger. No repeat case for us.

Wow, a Greek restaurant with a difference, very varied menu, very good, delicious food that is not available in every Greek restaurant, in a really nice atmosphere with outstanding service, friendly, attentive and above all a lot of humor, we are looking forward to it next time . It's definitely worth making a reservation as the restaurant is very busy.

We were traveling in Berlin for work and found out about Taverna Ousia via the Internet. We called and reserved a table. We were warmly welcomed. The restaurant is rustically furnished, with attention to detail. There are a variety of cold and warm starters as well as meat main courses. The food tasted good, especially the dolmades and the saganaki tiri. And we were served a very tasty dessert on the house. However, in my opinion the prices were not appropriate. I don't know if it's because of Berlin, but in other cities I've found similar and even delicious food at reasonable prices.

We loved this restaurant. We went there for a nice dinner and we got way more than expected. The food was excellent, the waiter was a bit too confident but what he sold us was really good. The mood was amazing as the restaurant pretty big is and it is full of life. Definitely a very good choice.

Old-established Greek restaurant, unfortunately there is a certain waiting time despite reservations. The quality of the food was top but also very expensive.

I love this place! I try to go to this restaurant whenever I’m in Berlin, and I always like to eat here with a group of friends. I always just tell the waiter to put together a menu of their best dishes, and everything is absolutely delicious! The restaurant has an energetic yet cozy vibe, and the grilled octopus is a must!

Attention fish and meat eaters! We've been coming here for years. The Taverna Ousia is one of the best Greek restaurants in Berlin. Fish dishes in particular are particularly good to eat here, which is notoriously difficult in Berlin. Recommended: octopus, calamari and sea bream. Honest! Not just because of the kitchen, but also because of the furnishings. You feel like you are in a Cretan courtyard and you get the appropriate, hospitable and friendly service.

So far I have always enjoyed going to Taverna Ousia. Unfortunately, this previously positive impression has now been overshadowed by my last disappointing and annoying experience. The waiter talked me into a dish that wasn't on the menu and was supposed to be a starter. They later charged 40 (!) euros for this dish. Neither the dessert nor the offered ouzo were paid for (as is usual in Greece), but ended up on the bill. I am very disappointed with this rip-off and will probably not visit Ousia again in the future. Κρίμα!

We have visited the restaurant "Taverna Ousia" several times and have always been impressed by the quality of the food. On our last visit, our waiter recommended replacing some of the standard dishes on the mixed starter platter “Meses OUSIA” with fish, without pointing out that this would significantly increase the price. As a result, the price of the starter plate almost tripled, as expensive dishes such as tiger prawns were suddenly on the table, which are not even on the standard menu. If you are asked when ordering the bill whether you “would like to drink another ouzo”, in Terverna Ousia this also means whether you “would like to drink it and pay”. 😉 The bill even had to be ordered a second time because it was forgotten... Although the evening was overall pleasant, the way the bill was handled and the slight shock when we saw the bill left a bitter taste. When asked about this, the waiter apologized half-heartedly and offered us a schnapps on the house, which seemed rather paltry given the bill amounted to around 80 euros per person and was politely declined. Overall, we felt that the waiter's nice additional suggestions served to drive up the price rather than provide us with a better experience. Personally, I somehow had to think of an episode of “Attention Rip-off” on Mykonos. I would like the operator and the waiters to do a better job of pointing out the hidden costs in the future. Not everyone who eats at your taverna was born with a golden spoon in their mouth. Nevertheless, we would like to emphasize that the food is actually delicious and authentic and the staff is generally very nice. In the end, 5 stars for the delicious food and the actually nice waiters. Minus 2 stars for the “nice additional suggestions” on the last visit.

Good Greek food with friendly service and Greek wine is very possible here. Busy restaurant, so reservations are recommended. The use of public transport is recommended as parking spaces are difficult to come by.

Nach einem etwas holprigen Start (d.h. trotz Reservierung 45 Minuten warten bis man 1. einen Tisch hatte, 2. bestellen konnte und 3. die Getränke da waren) überzeugte uns letztendlich die Qualität der Speisen und Getränke. Zu den Vorspeisen: der griechische Bauernsalat war frisch und knackig, grüne und rote Paprika, der Käse ein schöner kräftiger Feta - so wie man sich es wünscht. Tzatziki cremig und vollmundig, keine zu aufdringliche Knoblauchnote - Brot dazu angeröstet, dennoch nicht zu hart und trocken. Zu den Hauptspeisen: das Lammfilet war göttlich! Rosa gegrillt (tolle Grillaromen!), gut gewürzt und butterzart - eine Fleischqualität, wie ich sie schon lange in keinem Restaurant bekommen habe. Knusprige Kartoffeln dazu waren hausgemacht und mit leckerem griebendem Käse (mild) getoppt. Die Moussaka war zwar insgesamt lecker, aber leider sehr schwach gewürzt - Salz und Pfeffer hätten dem wirklich sehr gut getan! Auch das Verhältnis von Kartoffelhaube/Bechamel zu Aubergine/Kartoffelstückchen/Hackfleisch hätte etwas ausgewogener sein können. Der Salat dazu war sehr lecker - hier setzte man auf einen knackigen Romanasalat (kein Eisbergsalat - yipeh!), arbeitete mit frischen Kräutern und feinen Zwiebelscheiben. Insgesamt eine runde Sache. Zum Dessert: wir wurden im Anschluss noch auf ein Dessert eingeladen. Es gab Loukoumades (griechische Hefeteigbällchen in Honig getränkt) und Galaktobóuriko (Teigpastete gefüllt mit Vanille-Grießpudding) dazu eine Kugel Vanilleeis. Alles sehr gut und noch leicht warm. Mit dem Zimt, der darüber gegeben wurde, habt ihr es sehr gut gemeint. In diesem Fall ist weniger mehr. ;) Getränke: wir bestellten Roséwein und Mineralwasser. Anfangs empfanden wir den Rosé als etwas dünn, zusammen mit dem Essen entfaltete er aber sein ganzes Aroma und passte sehr gut. Ambiente: sehr schön und mit warmen Farben eingerichtet, ein bisschen Deko hier und da, aber nicht übertrieben. Etwas laut, da unglaublich voll im Restaurant - das spricht aus meiner Pespektive aber nur dafür, dass ihr alles richtig macht und viele Leute eben bei euch essen wollen. Service: Die männlichen Kellner wirkten anfänglich mit dem Ansturm gestresst. Nachdem der Zustrom an Leuten aber langsam stagnierte, war wieder alles im Lot und wir wurden sehr zügig sowie freundlich bedient. Ich hätte mich dennoch gefreut auch ein paar weibliche Servicekräfte zu sehen (vielleicht auch nur Zufall an dem Abend), da ich ein Fan von durchmischten aka diversen Teams bin. Fazit: eine moderne, authentische griechische Küche mit guten sowie frischen Zutaten. Der Service auf Trab und freundlich. Etwas hochpreisiger (für 2 Personen knapp über 110€), dennoch aufgrund der Frische und Qualität der Produkte jeden einzelnen Cent wert. Wir hatten eine schöne Zeit und kommen gerne wieder! :)

Wir wollten eine Feier ausrichten und haben für 8 Personen essen vorbestellt. Zuhause (10 Min. vom Restaurant) stellten wir fest das das komplette Essen kalt war. Die Fleischplatte nur halb vollständig und die Speisen lieblos in die Schalen „reingeworfen“. Wirklich enttäuschend - nicht nur wir, sondern natürlich auch die Gäste waren enttäuscht. Ist absolut nicht zu empfehlen, wenn man essen abholen möchte. Wir haben nachträglich angerufen, um Rückmeldung zu bekommen. Einsicht war nicht vorhanden. Alles in allem einfach nur extrem schlechter Kundenservice. Denn wie lange muss Essen in einer Warmhalteform stehen, dass es vollständig erkaltet. Für diesen Preis erwarte ich 1. anderen Service und definitiv andere Qualität des Essens.

Essen war durchschnittlich, es hat irgendwie das gewisse Etwas an Würze gefehlt und dafür ist es irgendwie zu teuer. Tzatziki Portionen leider bisschen klein, Nachtisch mit Pudding war super. Der Kellner hat auf eine Frage bezüglich eines bestellten Getränks genervt reagiert. Man hat einfach gemerkt, dass er keinen Bock hat. Schade. Ambiente ist toll, aber leider Akustik so laut, dass es bisschen unangenehm ist zu fortgeschrittener Stunde.

Sehr leckeres Essen, aufmerksames Personal, alles Bestens

Seit längerer Zeit endlich wieder gut griechisch gegessen. Traditionelles Ambiente und ein zwei Speisen auf der Karte enthalten, die nicht 08/15 überall zufinden sind.

Extrem leckerer und toller Laden. Ich komme selbst aus Griechenland und das Essen ist super authentisch, genau wie in Griechenland, keine Gyrosteller oder Ähnliches:) Preislich ist das Essen etwas höher, aber für die Qualität echt super!

Besuch am 25.12.23 abends Vorab haben wir reserviert, leider ist hier etwas schiefgelaufen, da diese Reservierung nicht weitergegeben wurde. Trotzdem haben wir vor Ort dann noch einen Tisch bekommen - nicht ganz glücklich gelegen im hinteren Bereich zwischen dem Durchgang zum hinteren Restaurantbereich. Das Restaurant ist sehr realitätsnah aufgebaut und man fühlt sich als Gast sehr wohl. Essenstechnisch waren wir zufrieden und das Dessert wurde seitens des Mitarbeiters als Dankeschön präsentiert. Gerne wieder wenn wir erneut in Berlin sind.

Das Essen ist wirklich super lecker. Kellner sind sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend auch am Silvesterabend, vorbei das Restaurant voll war. Tolle Atmosphäre und schönes Ambiente.

Immer den Preis erfragen , auch wenn es sich von dem Personal, nach einer Einladung anhört ( Bsp. Espresso). Es ist keine Einladung, man bezahlt. Daher Achtung! Sowie nicht auf Empfehlungen reinfallen! Die werden extra in Rechnung gestellt!!! Es lohnt sich auf einen Blick auf die Karte ( Bsp. Wein) Desweiteren auf jedefall, auf die richtige Rechnung mit der Mehrwertsteuer drängen. Dies könnte sonst evtl. der Schwarzarbeit oder der Steuerhinterziehung dienen! Lasset euch nich....!
