The warm mixed appetizer platter was incredibly delicious, but unfortunately the gyro was dry and only edible with the extra Metaxa sauce (€4). The tzatziki was too sour for me and had only a little garlic.

I can highly recommend the chocolate cake as dessert, it is very tasty and creamy. The main course was great and the meat was tender. The service was great and the waiters were very friendly.

Excellent food! Prices are reasonable! We had gyros, souvlaki, and specialty dishes. Everything was very well prepared. Highly recommended. We made a reservation online shortly beforehand and it was confirmed. Service is rustic but always friendly. One star deducted for the ambiance... it was a bit too loud for us. But it wouldn't stop us from eating here again when we're back in Berlin.

Phenomenal service, the employee’s were immensely enthusiastic and were destined to ensure we had enough food. He even feed the food to me with a fork. The Taverne Athena in Berlin. In addition to delicious food, it offers truly excellent service. I haven't experienced such attentive and courteous service in a long time. As soon as you've finished your meal, the table is cleared away, or you notice that you're missing bread. They take care of you immediately. The food is delicious, and the portions are generous. The only downside was the lack of tzatziki on the appetizer platter. However, the taste and service made up for this minor shortcoming. We definitely give this place five stars.

An absolute insider tip for anyone who loves Greek food! We're from Hamburg and were just visiting Berlin – we stumbled upon this restaurant by chance, and what can we say: We're absolutely thrilled! The food was simply unbelievably good – fresh, incredibly aromatic, and prepared with so much attention to detail. Every single component on the plate was perfectly balanced. You can immediately taste that the food is prepared with high-quality ingredients and true passion. We were particularly pleasantly surprised by the value for money. We would have expected much more for this quality – here you get truly first-class food at very fair prices! The service was also top-notch: friendly, attentive, and warm, without being intrusive. We immediately felt at home. Conclusion: When we're back in Berlin, a visit here is a must.

Delicious dinner at this restaurant, we opted for a classic gyros (unfortunately a bit dry) and a chef's specialty, marinated rack of lamb (it was excellent, it melted in the mouth). The service was kind and smiling right from the start, the only flaw was that we waited a long time to receive a pita, which after having asked for it 3 times arrived practically at the end of the meal. I had high expectations based on the great reviews, but my experience at Taverna Athene was disappointing. Despite having a reservation, I received little attention and had to wait quite a while. The table offered was not great, and overall the service felt disorganized. The dish I had was okay, but definitely not exceptional—nothing that would justify the wait or make the visit memorable. Maybe it was just an off night, but I expected more from a place with such high ratings.

Ordered Gyros Metaxa with fries. Nothing to complain about! Dishes are plentiful, food is exquisite and they serve it with the right temperature. Prices aren't bad either. Will repeat, definitely.

The restaurant is still cozy, the service is friendly in its own way, and they still serve ouzo as a delicacy ;) Thanks for that. The food is delicious - however, I think that meat platters definitely need a larger portion of tzatziki per dish. Unfortunately, the vegetables in my dish were overcooked. It was prepared in a stew - I wouldn't order it like that again (as I prefer crunchy vegetables with their vitamins and a bit of a bite, but okay - that's how they prepare it here). The fries are top-notch and a good size. You can expect to pay around €30 per person here.

I've eaten at many Greek restaurants. But today this one was by far the best! The food is soooo delicious, the menu is fantastic and there's a fantastic selection, including vegetarian and even vegan options. The service is so friendly, and you feel completely at home here. The staff are also very fond of children. And again, about the food... a huge compliment to the chef. Every piece of meat is absolutely perfect. Be it the juicy skewers on the grill plate or the absolutely amazing bifteki, which is also beautifully presented on a board. Simply WOW! We'll be back!!! Thank you!

The service was good, thank you very much. The dishes could have been better; for example, we would have preferred more bread with the appetizers. The mayonnaise from various packets doesn't match the price either. Unfortunately, it's not a pleasant place to sit outside, as it's right on the street (you have to like that, that's fine). The restaurant has a rustic decor.

From the amazing food to the super-nice staff, this Greek restaurant impressed. The extensive menu offered something for everyone, and the atmosphere was lively (it was nearly full, so definitely book ahead!). Service was a tad slow, but the staff were clearly working flat out. Our group appreciated the generous portions, the waiters' helpful recommendations, and the good variety of drinks. A great experience overall. I was here for the second time for my team party and would come again. Everybody loved it. Do try the homemade ice-cream even when you are full at the end of the meal - it is something really unique.

Very nice restaurant! Super tasty and a fast team. Unfortunately it is very loud - hence the deduction in the ambience, although it is well and pleasantly furnished. We were a little irritated that we had to pack the takeaway food leftover box ourselves. Could this be discussed with the young team members? Of course, this is a service of the kitchen and not of the guests 😂

Taverna Athene was truly one of our highlights while’s visiting Berlin. We were in search of an authentic Greek restaurant to end our trip with an we can’t recommend this place enough! BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE WE HAVE WVWE HAD! The staff was so kind and caring, it felt like we were in the living room with family. We got recommendations from our servers and every bite is bursting with flavor and so much love! The spanakopita has the flakiest crust I’ve ever tasted and don’t even get me started on the tzatziki—creamy, garlicky, and ridiculously addictive. 12/10- please do yourself a favor and pay them a visit. Will be back every time we are in Berlin- we are in love!

I was in Berlin for 3 days last week and ate there twice. Both times the food was excellent. I will definitely come back the next time I visit Berlin. Very friendly staff. If you like Greek food, this is the place for you.

We used to come here 20 years ago while living in Berlin. Decided to have a birthday dinner there on our trip to Berlin and we're so happy we did. They made the occasion special and everyone loved their food!

Very disappointing food at high prices, both for meat and vegetarian dishes. We found the “boss” to be very unpleasant and intrusive. Very warm inside, lots of traffic outside and the toilets were dirty. For the high prices there is much better elsewhere.

You immediately feel like you are in Greece. The friendly, courteous and attentive staff around Maria add the whole thing to a harmonious overall experience. Absolutely delicious. I had the mixed grill plate and my partner had the vegetarian moussaka. We also had a pita with garlic confit as a starter, also delicious. The first room is quite noisy, so don’t hesitate to request to sit in a different room, if you enjoy a quieter atmosphere.

I love Greek cuisine. However, not this one. The eggplant salad was very sour. The meat went like this, the salad with a baldamico dressing, which is more fitting for an Italian restaurant. Now, about 5 hours after eating it, the food bothers me. The wine was good, the staff friendly. Looking at most of the other reviews, it seems like I was really unlucky.

We had a (fine) meal here, the meat was tender and the taste was excellent. Only the gyros had nothing to do with gyros. Gyros are wafer-thin slices of meat. These gyros were chunks of sliced ​​fried pork. And ouzo should not be served cool. The potatoes that were served with it were a surprise and super tasty.
