Our favorite Greek restaurant in Berlin! It's like coming to friends... The food is very good, plentiful anyway and the employees are super nice. Try! It's always worth it!

Really great restaurant, as a cook and having lived in Greece, I can tell it's a good restaurant, all dishes were amazing and the staff were welcoming and friendly with us. The ambiance is a bit cliché but that's what you want from a greek place ! I recommend and will come back next time I'm in Berlin

Very nice restaurant! Super tasty and a fast team. Unfortunately it is very loud - hence the deduction in the ambience, although it is well and pleasantly furnished. We were a little irritated that we had to pack the takeaway food leftover box ourselves. Could this be discussed with the young team members? Of course, this is a service of the kitchen and not of the guests 😂

Good food, although not outstanding. It is worth mentioning that many classic dishes such as gyros etc. also have a vegan version. Service and prices also good.

Taverna Athene was truly one of our highlights while’s visiting Berlin. We were in search of an authentic Greek restaurant to end our trip with an we can’t recommend this place enough! BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE WE HAVE WVWE HAD! The staff was so kind and caring, it felt like we were in the living room with family. We got recommendations from our servers and every bite is bursting with flavor and so much love! The spanakopita has the flakiest crust I’ve ever tasted and don’t even get me started on the tzatziki—creamy, garlicky, and ridiculously addictive. 12/10- please do yourself a favor and pay them a visit. Will be back every time we are in Berlin- we are in love!

The best food in Berlin. Especially if you have come from Greece and have eaten a thousand and two things in Berlin and you are still looking. Great meats, the stuffed burger is divine, etc., nice beers...I was impressed that the shop was full of Germans and that it had a full menu with a vegan menu. Greetings from Greece, best regards.

I was in Berlin for 3 days last week and ate there twice. Both times the food was excellent. I will definitely come back the next time I visit Berlin. Very friendly staff. If you like Greek food, this is the place for you.

Good Greek food at reasonably reasonable prices

We used to come here 20 years ago while living in Berlin. Decided to have a birthday dinner there on our trip to Berlin and we're so happy we did. They made the occasion special and everyone loved their food!

This place is just amazing! Delicious food, cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. The food really taste like a grandma made it, delicious and authentic 🤤 Definitely coming back for more!

Very disappointing food at high prices, both for meat and vegetarian dishes. We found the “boss” to be very unpleasant and intrusive. Very warm inside, lots of traffic outside and the toilets were dirty. For the high prices there is much better elsewhere.

Discovered it spontaneously while walking past. The fact that a Greek restaurant offers such an extensive vegan selection is a very positive surprise. In the end you get a starter, main course and dessert in vegan form, without missing out. The service is also great.

When you walk in you immediately feel at home. It feels like you're on a Greek getaway. When you come in, the guest room opens up as a lovingly furnished Greek tavern. You immediately feel like you are in Greece. The friendly, courteous and attentive staff around Maria add the whole thing to a harmonious overall experience. Plus a fantastic meal in which all the components harmonize wonderfully with each other. Here you can spend wonderful hours with friends and family. Always my pleasure!

Absolutely delicious. I had the mixed grill plate and my partner had the vegetarian moussaka. We also had a pita with garlic confit as a starter, also delicious. The first room is quite noisy, so don’t hesitate to request to sit in a different room, if you enjoy a quieter atmosphere.

I love Greek cuisine. However, not this one. The eggplant salad was very sour. The meat went like this, the salad with a baldamico dressing, which is more fitting for an Italian restaurant. Now, about 5 hours after eating it, the food bothers me. The wine was good, the staff friendly. Looking at most of the other reviews, it seems like I was really unlucky.

We had a (fine) meal here, the meat was tender and the taste was excellent. Only the gyros had nothing to do with gyros. Gyros are wafer-thin slices of meat. These gyros were chunks of sliced ​​fried pork. And ouzo should not be served cool. The potatoes that were served with it were a surprise and super tasty.

A trade fair tour with Gyros-Jieper is not that easy in the center of Berlin. A Google search then led me to Athene. The reception was not only nice, but “typically” warm and even as a single guest you feel very welcome. The mini version of a grill plate is great, with souvlaki and gyros etc... the gyros are really delicious, juicy and fresh. But my highlight was the souvlaki made from fillet, instead of dry pork loin, as I usually know from Germany! Insanely good! The staff is great, attentive, friendly and quick… A very clear recommendation! Thanks to the team and kind regards from Cologne😊

The atmosphere was really nice. The waiter also. The food too. The only complain is the presentation on the plate. Except that all was really good. Edit: Hallo, the plate from my wife and my kid was really nice. About mine, I took the Athena mix grill if I'm right. The food was really good but usually the deco is better. Here i had a feeling it was just meat drop on the plate. Except that the food was really good.

The food was delicious. And the prices are high, but still fair. The evening was accompanied by Greek music, as it should be. The service was great, very welcoming, as you would expect. You can't go wrong with a visit here. I know a few Greek restaurants and Taverna Athene is definitely one of the better ones. We we will come back.

Can I recommend this place? Yes, absolutely. The ambience takes a bit of getting used to, and the acoustics are difficult when the store is full because it's loud. A few ceiling sails might work. There were three of us here, we had 2 gyros, one with vegetables, one with rice noodles and a vegan grill plate, with eggplant salad (which was made much better with a few drops of olive oil) and grilled halloumi as a starter (unfortunately the first portion of halloumi was grilled well beyond the point of roasted flavors and was replaced without any problem). Everything was delicious, and unfortunately we couldn't fit any more dessert, we thought. But there was a little something from the house (partly because the food arrived at a very different time), a vegan yoghurt with a piece of caramelized orange peel, which we would have liked to have had a bowl full of. So incredibly tasty, many thanks to the really attentive service. Why very attentive? Both Greek mochas came with a biscuit containing gluten, and the nice gentleman from the service (possibly the boss) took the biscuit from the plate of the guest, who cannot tolerate gluten, shortly before serving. We asked when ordering because a guest cannot tolerate gluten. So far, only very few restaurants have been able to implement this information so well. Ευχαριστώ πολύ. We'll definitely be back to try the other dishes and we're looking forward to it...

Anyone who has tried many Greek restaurants (or those who want to be) in Berlin will stay here. Apart from the absolutely delicious food with perfect seasoning, the service is actually at its positive limit. Unfortunately there was a bit of a lack of cleanliness (tablecloths, napkins, cutlery), but everything was sorted out upon request.

Large restaurant with many, many vegan options, very, very tasty: meze platter, fried pepperoni, gyros, souflaki, bifteki, country bread with confit garlic - all recommended! The tzatziki was super creamy and surprisingly light, not a garlic bomb. We only got a table without a reservation because we were there early, and it got really full after 6/6:30 p.m. Very friendly service too!

We visited Berlin for 3 nights in January (group of 4) and we went to this restaurant twice ! The food was amazing and the service was fantastic. I would highly recommended. The moussaka was divine and the atmosphere was brilliant! It was really busy on the two nights we attended. I would advise to book before going :)

What a treasure. Lovely people, good food and great opening hours. I came in at 11.15 pm and there was no trace of doubt whether they could still serve me something to eat. True hospitality.

Underground. We were there before a concert and asked if we could manage to eat in an hour. The meat was cold, dry and tzaziki quark with cucumber... really the worst Greek restaurant we've ever been to. Some of the waitresses were nice and it was definitely not on Valentine's Day but the Thursday evening before!

We ate here before a performance at the Tempodrom and chose the restaurant because of its proximity and good reviews. We were not disappointed and loved the food. From the friendly welcome, to the quick service, to the delicious food, everything was simply perfect. We'll be back and thank you very much :)

Another amazing experience at Taverna Athene! Last time, we tried the chef’s special, which was a mixed grill with lamb chops, lamb skewer, and another cut—all incredibly delicious! The sides were just as good, especially the crispy potatoes and the creamy tzatziki. We also had moussaka and a fresh salad with balsamic-mustard dressing, both fantastic. This time, we ordered Dolmadakia (Grape leaves with rice filling and homemade tzatziki),Arnisio souvlaki (a large tender lamb skewer, in our own marinade, served with fried handmade style garlic potatoes and Tzatziki) and Gyros (Pork from the rotisserie, with Tzatziki) with Greek-style potatoes. Everything was great again! The kebab (lamb skewer) last time had smaller, more tender pieces that melted in the mouth, while this time the cuts were bigger but still juicy and flavorful. They also serve a welcome shot of Ouzo Plomari, which is a nice touch. Even their house wine is pretty good! Definitely coming back!

I have now been to the personally and family-run restaurant for the umpteenth time, and my first experience was confirmed last time too. Friendly welcome, attentive service and excellent quality of food. The "classics" of Greek cuisine are presented and served here at a high level, whether bifteki, octopus, anchovies or lamb fillet. The portions are also generous and good. For me it's a "perennial favorite" in Kreuzberg.

The food was really very tasty, we had 2 mixed grill plates, the garlic potatoes were very good and the meat had a very good taste, it was typically Greek full and therefore a bit loud, I found that to be slightly annoying due to the small room, but not so much that I wouldn't come back. The hospitality was great, friendly, and requests were taken into account. If you are looking for a Greek restaurant at a completely reasonable price, I can recommend this one.
