Taverna Hellas in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

We received a friendly welcome and were seated outside without a reservation. The service was attentive and patient. The meat dish was good and the portions were more than sufficient. Vegetarian options were mostly appetizers (which is often the case in Greek restaurants). It was no problem ordering several appetizers as a main course. These were very tasty and attractively presented. The white bread that accompanied the spicy feta cream was unfortunately dry and a bit hard. We ordered pita bread separately, which was very good!

We didn’t expect to find such a great Greek restaurant in the heart of a tourist town - but it truly impressed us! Every dish we tried was amazing and full of authentic flavor. The Taramasalata in particular stood out - it tasted exactly like our favorite version we had in Greece, which is rare to find in Greek restaurants in Germany. The seafood was also surprisingly fresh and delicious. Would recommend the Poseidon dish if you love seafood. Overall, the meal fully satisfied our love for Greek cuisine. We’d love to visit there again if we are jn the town.

The food was truly delicious and a welcome change from the standard pork knuckle, schnitzel, and other dishes offered by competitors. The only downside was that you felt like you were being rushed through as quickly as possible. Plates were already being cleared away while other people were still eating. The waitresses could have certainly brought us one or two more drinks if they had come more often. Nevertheless, highly recommended *****

We sat outside and found it very cozy. The food was excellent. The appetizer platter was delicious. The smaller portions on the lunch menu turned out to be large portions. Only the waitress didn't smile for us. Maybe it was too hot ;)?

I ate a gyro plate. It was super tasty, with excellent meat and a very generous portion.

A very family-friendly restaurant, flexible with special requests like vegan food, and the first Greek restaurant we've known that serves a (non-alcoholic, of course) "kids' ouzo" after the meal! We'd love to come back!

Good Greek food right in Partenkirchen's old town. Large portions, filling enough to fill you up. We just didn't like the salad that came first. The dressing wasn't to our taste, and the salad was a bit "un-Greek."

I had the Poseidon Plate. It was the best sea food I’ve had in my life! Also the service was great.

A truly solid, family-run restaurant. The restaurant is centrally located on the historic Ludwigstrasse in the Partenkirchen district, and you're practically in the middle of the action when you sit on the terrace. Service is very attentive and authentically Greek. You won't be fussed over like you would be in a five-star hotel, but you'll get what you order and be served in a friendly manner. The chef even invited a neighboring table to use another one, as if it had been raining, water might have poured down from above. You feel welcome, and the food tastes good. The gyro is extremely well-seasoned and comes from a rotisserie, and it's real meat, not a ground beef mix, as you might have experienced elsewhere. For a gyro for €17.40, you really can't complain, and that's in the center of Partenkirchen.

Great food, but unfortunately, very poor service. Even in stressful situations, customers should be treated politely and with respect.

Very poor and unfriendly service. We had to add up the bill ourselves. Then we were insulted at the end. We'll never see this restaurant again... I've never experienced anything like it.

Friendly staff, excellent food, and great outdoor seating under an awning (very thankful when the rain came through). I tried the Special Platter with gyros and calamari and loved every bite. I rounded out the meal with baklava and couldn't be happier. Highly recommended!

You could walk past without ever realising the flavours that are hidden within. Go inside, go to Greece 🙌 When you are on vacation it is difficult to find a place that makes you feel as welcome as a local in your own neighbourhood. I am telling you … wherever you are from, this place will make you feel at home. The owner and the staff are so kind, so considerate, so friendly… and that is just the moment you step inside the door. The food is incredible. The flavours!!! You always know you are in a great restaurant when they can make something as simple as potatoes or rice taste just HOMEMADE and this place does that and more. I have to add because honestly I think it is exceptional the way they butterfly their shrimp (hence that extra photo) the cut is so deft that all you are thinking about is the delicious flavours and never wrestling the meat from the shell. I also got the calamari combination and it was so tender… if you know good calamari you know what I’m talking about. The decor is warm and inviting- it reminds me of the stone of the Acropolis. Clean, delightful and a lovely cross of German/Greek. When you come for your first meal, you will immediately be planning your next - you will covet thy neighbours food. The owner is Greek, calm and delightful and as far as I can tell his right-hand person on the floor is a human size Tinkerbell come to life, her bright blonde hair and beautiful smile make you feel immediately at ease - do not pass it up. Thank me later. **also delicious carafe wine at a great price and complimentary ouzo ✨✨✨

Very familiar atmosphere, but everything seems a little old. The prices are above average, the service is friendly but not entirely professional (food is passed over the wall, cleared away while others are still eating, and there is no service in between). The food tasted incredibly good, but the portion was quite meager. Overall, well-intentioned four stars - but you definitely can't go wrong with a visit.

The Greek restaurant is a place that I recommend for a delicious lunch, the atmosphere is super pleasant, they were very kind to my friend's pet, it is something very nice. The detail of the natural flowers on each of the tables gives a very special touch to the restaurant. Very good food and good portion.

It was incredibly tasty and quiet, only I thought that food was brought too quickly. I know normally people complain if it takes too long (e.g. 1 hour), perfect it would be 30 minutes but it just came after 20 minutes. The dessert (Greek yogurt) is highly recommended but the dessert came after 5 minutes and you weren't full from the food... So what I can recommend to you is the chicken breast and the salmon. The rice is also very tasty...

In contrast to other restaurants in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, this restaurant is a very good choice when it comes to value for money. We were there on Saturday at 6 p.m. and immediately got a place for two. Nice staff and nice atmosphere. Food was very very good.

Every time we vacation in Garmish-Partenkirchen we always visit this excellent restaurants because we love its delicious food, but today our experience was even better - after paying our bill and getting free Ouzo shots (that they always offer after dinner), we went outside to wait for our taxi; however, the taxi was going to be 15 minutes late so the beautiful blond waitress offered us to comeback inside to wait for the taxi - so, we did and while we were waiting, we ordered a round of ouzos shots ( for a group of five people ). When the taxi arrived we asked to pay for the shots, the owner told us the shots were on the house - this was such a nice touch from the owner - he didn’t have to do that. So, we want to recommend this restaurant not only for its excellent food but also for its wonderful hospitality 😊👍

A Greek restaurant operated by its owners. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is beautiful, and the prices are somewhat high... The hostess is old and has a great deal of vitality, good manners, cheerfulness, and good behavior.

My wife and I stopped here for dinner on our Germany road trip and we're blown away. The food, service, and atmosphere were all amazing! Again I can't mention the food enough, absolutely amazing! If you're looking for a fantastic restaurant, don't keep looking, just stop here!!

Spot on if you want Greek food. Parking is off-site so be prepared for a 5 to 10 minute walk.

Food very tasty. We ordered grilled salmon and squid. The service was very helpful, especially when choosing a dish. Also the serving time is quite short. As for the climate, in my opinion there is little Greek in it

Great food, unfortunately a bit cramped on the side of the road

We have been coming to Partenkirchen regularly for years and only discovered this wonderful Greek restaurant two years ago. The hosts and service staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was also nice. This restaurant offers a wonderful change from Bavarian cuisine (you can't eat roast pork, sausages or dumplings every day) with its wonderfully simple and delicious, not overly seasoned cuisine. Beautiful wines round it all off - we are regular guests there every time we stay in Partenkirchen (usually 4 times a year), although we otherwise like to cook ourselves in our holiday apartment. But a meal at the Hellas tavern is simply a must. Thanks to the entire team, keep it up, Kerstin + I.

Only three stars...The portions were quite small. The taste was good, the service wasn't really very nice and accommodating... even though it wasn't that full... a shame.

Cuisine intended to be Greek, but not very well mastered. The rice is overcooked, the gyros have little flavor and the pot of salt probably fell in with it.

Food was alright. When we had finished the main course, our drinks were all empty, then they cleared the plates and didn't come back for 15 minutes to ask us if we wanted more drinks or deserts. The first time ever I had a bad experience at a Greek restaurant in Germany. So disappointing and sad.

I had really bad experiences with flies in this restaurant. I've never experienced anything like this before. There were probably 30 flies at our table in the restaurant, they were sitting on the food and kept flying into our faces, arms and legs. Me and my buddy couldn't enjoy the food at all, we were happy when we were outside again. The taste of the food was nothing special, we will never eat here again.

Full 5 points, super fast, courteous service, crispy gyros, rice, and a Greek yoghurt with honey,...then you're in Greek heaven. Top atmosphere, highly recommended.

I don't understand the negative reviews. We were served extremely friendly. In addition, the food portion was mega. I can recommend the gyros plate with souvlaki. The best Greek I've ever been to! The only thing to complain about is the starter salad. It was a little dry and uncreative. Otherwise, thank you for the great evening ☺️

Unfortunately a disappointment. My wife liked it somewhat, but I didn't like it at all. Hunger had driven it down. After a long car ride to the holiday destination we had to do something quick so we picked up gyros at the taverna. Unfortunately we were very disappointed for the money.

Absolute impudence! Very expensive and small portions… Greek salad that wasn't even big cost €15! Even though there wasn't much going on, we waited at least half an hour for two starters, a children's gyro plate and a Greek salad. The waitress couldn't answer simple questions at all. When asked if they could make anything vegan, she pointed to chicken salad and fish paste. Vegetarian selection is okay… definitely wouldn't come here again!

The restaurant offers a wide selection of delicious dishes. It's a little more expensive, but very tasty. We thought the starter with pita bread and various spreads was very good and would recommend ordering it. The service was quick and friendly.

With a penchant for seeking out Greek eateries wherever I go, my expectations were high. First impressions were positive; the atmosphere exuded a cozy Greek tavern vibe, complete with charming decor and a warm ambiance. The staff were exceptionally friendly and professional, adding to the overall inviting atmosphere. However, my excitement was slightly tempered by the food. While it was by no means bad, it fell short of the exceptional Greek culinary experiences I've had in the past. The menu offered a decent selection of traditional Greek dishes, but the execution left something to be desired. The flavors were adequate but lacked the depth and authenticity I've come to expect from Greek cuisine. The moussaka was flavorful but a tad too oily, and the souvlaki, while tender, lacked the bold seasoning I crave. Additionally, some dishes seemed slightly overcooked or under-seasoned. Despite these shortcomings, I appreciated the effort put into presentation, and the portions were generous. The desserts, particularly the baklava, redeemed the meal somewhat with their rich, sweet flavors. I had a great solo dining experience at Taverna Hellas today. The waitress was very nice and even included a shot of sambuca (at least I think it was sambuca. I had the halloumi starter, with the special plater. I would definitely go back and highly recommend this restaurant if you have a taste for Greek food!
