Taverna Elia is always very busy, so it's advisable to reserve a table. The food is consistently good, and the service is always very friendly and attentive. It has a family-run and cozy atmosphere. In the summer, you can sit outside. Taverna Elia is an integral part of the neighborhood.

Yesterday, while looking for a lamb shank with Greek pasta, we stumbled upon the small but charming Taverna Elia. The waiters are all very friendly and happy to give advice. We enjoyed the food immensely, and the price was more than fair. We'd love to come back next time we're in the area. With that in mind: Best wishes for a wonderful holiday.

This is my third time here and I'm absolutely thrilled. It's always been very busy (which speaks volumes about the quality). The starters (octopus, broad beans with feta cheese, etc.) are wonderful, and the main course was buttery lamb. I highly recommend it.

Mediocre tavern with typical German/Greek menus. The food is okay, whether the gyros is on the skewer is doubtful as the pieces of meat were quite thick, The Metaxa sauce was delicious. Unfortunately the rice that came with it was cold. Still, I would come back and order something else.

Nice atmosphere in the tastefully designed restaurant, friendly service and delicious food. I had Gigantes and then the small portion of Bifteki. The bread was warm and not the typical Greek white bread, but a little darker. A small salad was included as a starter… and of course the South too 😉 All in all, highly recommended!

They refused to accept my card payment so offered 2 other cards which they also refused, must admit that surprised me, and that spoilt the entire experience fortunately we were with friends who assisted in a cash payment.

As a Greek, I have to honestly admit that this was the worst Greek restaurant I have ever eaten at. The meat was of poor quality and we were also lied to that the starters were fresh and homemade. Tarama from the prepackaged tirokafteri (chtipiti) also, beans and grape leaves zanae cans, meat was not fresh. I specifically asked him in Greek if everything was fresh and he assured me everything was fresh.... Typical Greek rip-off guy.... Sells you for a fool... Ahhh yes and the bread was just from yesterday.. .Wouldn't send my worst enemy there.🤢🤮

Hey...I came here by chance a year ago: hungry, tired....I ran into Ottensen (I'm from Eutin), I was immediately...almost warmly welcomed with natural friendliness and the historical background of the restaurant:...unknowingly sitting at Jule's seat Neigel sat... opposite Inga Rumpf(!!!)... for rock lovers (also German rock!!🤭) of course super interesting! ...as a "Greek lover...Bieftekifan....I tested all the Greeks from Lübeck to Kiel with the Bieftekifan...there are...in my opinion and taste only 2 "best Greeks" in this category: my local favorite in Malente and here in Hamburg Elia .... very good Bieftekifan, plentiful menu, at an unbeatable price!!! .with the starter salad and the delicious bread and olive oil - and pickles Tomato puree... for me: simply delicious!!! .... Is the best Bieftekifan that would be served to me for the course between Lübeck and Kiel. And the service is polite, friendly, reserved so far (this is my 5th time here!!) always expedient in my interests in terms of space... out of turn and without an appointment... it has always worked so far!!! "Hats off!!" ...here it works, in my opinion and experience. great! I can recommend it to uncomplicated realists with a clear conscience...!! .

We had to search for a long time to finally find a “root Greek” again. The reception in the restaurant was very warm and nice. Super tasty food, portions not too overwhelming. All in all, simply recommended!!!

Nothing to complain about, the best gyros in a long time or ever? At least I can't remember having such good gyros. Very quick service. Clean and cheap, almost too cheap. In our village we don't go for less than 80 euros for the exact same order, here it was 58 plus a well-deserved 10 euro tip. Thank you very much for the good hospitality

Only 3 vegetarian options is a no go. And then these are: - Peppers and tomatoes filled with rice - A vegetable casserole - a vegetable pan Unfortunately very unimaginative... Absolutely no recommendation. But the team is nice and the atmosphere is ok (subjective).

The service employee was all alone in the crowded restaurant that evening. I don't know if it's always like that there, but that caused quite a wait. The food was hot and tasted okay, but we've had better Greek restaurants. The bread that was served with the meal was very good. The price-performance ratio is also okay. Unfortunately it's a rather small restaurant, so you sit very close to each other. Getting a parking space is rather more difficult, as is usually the case in HH.

When I entered the restaurant, I felt like I had been transported back to the 80s... everything was pretty old fashioned and old school... I had my doubts... but luckily I spontaneously got a table for two people... ... and... (If you don't dare, you don't win): Splendid !!! A wonderful contrast to all the Ottenser hipster shops next door. The food was down-to-earth and extremely tasty: my highlight...: "Tarama" (You love it or you hate it.) I love it and this one was just as good as what I know from Greece. For the main course I had the lamb plate and was able to order a "small" portion of gyros for an extra €3. The meat was extremely tender and juicy - I was particularly pleasantly surprised by the gyros (which tend to come across dry). I/we are always happy to come back.

Taverna Elia is a cozy Greek restaurant in Ottensen with fair prices. The restaurant is typically rustic. There are enough seats. The menu includes all the well-known Greek dishes, with a clear focus on meat dishes. There are a few vegetarian dishes to choose from, especially starters like vegetables or cheese, but also a few vegetarian mains like fried vegetables or salads. The selection of vegetarian main courses could be a little larger, how about a vegetarian moussaka, for example? Vegans, on the other hand, will have a difficult time here, unfortunately most dishes contain cheese or yoghurt. The service is friendly and the food is prepared quite quickly. The drink selection is good. In my opinion, the prices are fair and you get quite good portion sizes. I can recommend Taverna Elia, especially for meat eaters, but also with restrictions for vegetarians and vegans.

Gemütlich, mega lecker und super Service

"Taverna Elia" gehört mittlerweile schon als fester Programm-Punkt, wenn es ums Essen geht zu unseren Hamburg-Aufenthalt, dazu. Wir waren jetzt schon zum 3. Mal mit einer grösseren Gruppe (dieses Jahr zu zwölft) hier und sind jedes mal völlig zufrieden. KlasseService, schmeckendes Essen und das bei einem guten Preis-Leiszungs-Verhältniss. Macht weiter so, wir kommen wieder.

Hervorragendes Essen, aufmerksamer Service, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Sehr freundliche Bedienung. Wir hatten Gyros bestellt und das kam schnell und war sehr lecker. Gute Atmosphere. Ich wuerde jedem dieses Restaurant weiter empfehlen!

I had gyros, suvlaki with chips and tzatziki, the gyros was flavoursome, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the suvlaki was crispy on the inside however slightly firm on the inside, the chips were perfectly cooked and Tzatziki was tasty, overall the food was very delicious.

Gutes Essen zu einen guten Preis. Es hat alles gepasst. Auch die Auswahl an Speisen, da findet jeder etwas. Nur die Tische sind für 4 Personen etwas zu klein.

Sehr leckeres Gyros!, innen deutlich schöner als draußen zum sitzen auch im Sommer ist es innen schön kühl. Service hatte man etwas das Gefühl vernachlässigt zu werden aber es war in Ordnung. 50€ für 2 Personen mit je einer gr. Cola und einer Vorspeise+ Hauptgang total in Ordnung

Der Service ist nett, aber das Essen schmeckt unterdurchschnittlich, der Hauptgeschmack ist Fett. Man wird zwar satt, aber denkt sich, man hätte lieber zu Hause was selbst gekocht. Es hätte mit Sicherheit besser geschmeckt und man hätte das Geld gespart.

Wir waren gestern zu zweit da. Ohne Reservierung. Wir haben trotzdem einen Tisch bekommen. Und wurden gleich gefragt, ob wir einen Ouzo möchten. Ging also gut los. Vegetarisches Moussaka, nicht so meins, aber meine Frau fand es klasse. Ich hatte Gyros in Metaxasauce. Meine Frau fand es etwas salzig. Ich fand es einfach nur Weltklasse. Sowas von lecker. Freundliches, aufmerksames Servicepersonal. Preise angemessen. Insgesamt toll. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder.

Schönes kleines griechisches Restaurant. Der Empfang war sehr freundlich. Unser Essen war sehr lecker, das Gyros wir richtig gut gewürzt. Wir kommen bestimmt mal wieder vorbei, wenn wir in der Nähe sind.
