Wir haben uns relativ kurzfristig entschieden, dieses Restaurant zu besuchen, weil wir Lust auf indisches Essen hatten. Von außen wirkt das Restaurant eher unscheinbar, obwohl es mitten in der Innenstadt liegt. Als wir ankamen, war der Gastraum komplett leer, weshalb wir zunächst etwas gezögert haben, hineinzugehen. Ohne die vielen positiven Bewertungen, die ich mir vorher angesehen hatte, wären wir wahrscheinlich weitergegangen. Umso positiver wurden wir überrascht: Das Essen war wirklich hervorragend. Geschmacklich sehr authentisch, frisch zubereitet und schön angerichtet. Auch der Service war relativ freundlich und aufmerksam. Man sollte sich vom ersten Eindruck also nicht täuschen lassen – wer gutes indisches Essen sucht, ist hier definitiv an der richtigen Adresse.

Ein wunderbares kulinarisches Erlebnis! Das Essen war köstlich, der Service freundlich und aufmerksam, und das Menü für zwei Personen bot eine große Auswahl und großzügige Portionen. Alles war frisch, geschmackvoll und wunderschön angerichtet. Ich habe mein Essen sehr genossen und komme gerne wieder.

Wir hatten gestern ein wunderbares Abendessen hier mit meiner Frau. Wir saßen am Fenster und hatten von dort einen schönen Blick ins Restaurant. Es ist zwar nicht sehr groß, aber es hat eine schöne und gemütliche Atmosphäre. Das Essen war köstlich und hat unsere Erwartungen übertroffen, deshalb haben wir die Reste mit ins Hotel genommen. Ein großes Lob an das Servicepersonal und die Küche!

Ein wirklich schönes Lokal mit superfreundlichem und zuvorkommendem Personal. Das Essen ist gut und die Portionen sind großzügig. Mir persönlich war es etwas zu salzig, aber das ist wohl Geschmackssache. Ich komme auf jeden Fall wieder.

Das indische Restaurant wirkt unauffällig.... Aber wenn man einmal was gegessen hat wird man es immer sofort wieder im Kopf haben.... Die Mitarbeiter sind freundlich und aufmerksam und der Chef selbst erkundigt sich oder berät.... Alle bisher probierten Essen waren wirklich absolut hervorragend... Auch die gemischte vorspeisenplatte und die pakoras sollte man unbedingt versuchen

Die Zutaten waren nicht frisch und hinterließen einen unangenehmen Nachgeschmack. Das Hähnchen war ungenießbar. Im Mutter Paneer waren kaum Erbsen. Über eine Stunde Wartezeit.

Sehr lecker, sehr netter Service und angenehme Atmosphäre - zudem gibt es einen Mittagstisch.

Als regelmäßiger Gast im Taste it India, zuletzt im Januar 2026, gebe ich diese Bewertung ab. Das Essen ist jedes Mal absolute Spitze, insbesondere Chicken Madrasi und Lamb Vindaloo zählen zu meinen Favoriten. Der Schärfegrad wird exakt nach Kundenwunsch eingestellt, ich bevorzuge knapp unter "indisch scharf". Der Service ist immer sehr gut. Für mich nach wie vor eines der besten indischen Restaurants in Essen.

Ich werde dieses Restaurant niemals besuchen. Das Biryani war trocken und wurde nur mit Joghurt serviert, es war überhaupt nicht genießbar. Die Hühnersuppe war kalt und hat schlecht geschmeckt. Die Portion Biryani war so klein, dass nicht einmal ein Kind davon satt wird. Auch die Gemüse-Pakora war sehr schlecht im Geschmack und verbrannt. Das ist reine Geldverschwendung.“

I visited Taste it India and was absolutely delighted. The food was excellent – ​​especially the chicken tikka I ordered, which was simply delicious: tender, aromatic, and perfectly seasoned. The ambiance was also fantastic. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making you feel right at home. Overall, a wonderful experience! I highly recommend Taste it India and will definitely be back.

Absolutely loved this place! Authentic Indian flavours, generous portions, and very friendly staff. The butter chicken and garlic naan were outstanding, and the lassi at the end was perfect. Highly recommend this restaurant if you’re craving real Indian food.

We celebrated a birthday there. With 20 people, we were more than disappointed. The service was okay, but the food was absolutely awful – no flavor, no seasoning. We basically threw away €400 even though we had already paid for our food. We weren't allowed to take the food home and were told we had to pay more. That was the first and last time. We'd be better off at McDonald's.

I went there today with my Indian friends. The food was really great and authentic – nothing to complain about. However, the rice portion was too small for four people, and the waiters' behavior was beyond unfriendly. It almost felt like guests were a nuisance. The ambiance was quite ordinary – nothing special, but not bad either. I give the food 5 stars, the service 1, and the ambiance 3.

We were on a shopping trip in Essen, were hungry, and googled for an Indian restaurant. We ended up at Taste in India. We received a very friendly welcome and were treated to two delicious curries. Great restaurant!

The food was very ordinary , too oily. The mango lassi was more a coloured butter milk compared to what is served in other Indian resturants in Germany, artifical colours in lassi could be guessed by the first looks.

Excellent vegetarian thali! I tried the "Vegetarian Taste it India Thali" and was absolutely delighted! The various components were all incredibly delicious and authentically seasoned. Vindaloo is normally spicy, it was way too spicy. If a Telugu guy with you asks for yogurt after tasting it, trust me it's very spicy 😀 But chicken in vindaloo was hard and raw....had to leave it. Dal tarka was very good...star of the evening...exactly indian dhaba style Panee karahi was undercooked but their clientele is like 90% non Indians on a Saturday evening, so those customers won't know it. Passable. Service was excellent, funny with kids. Could be a great restaurant if they improve food quality a bit. Service was really prompt. Atmosphere was more like of 90's and 2000s indian restaurants outside India rather than 2020s style

I ordered an appetizer platter for a celebration. Everything delivered on time, fresh and in good quantity. Communication was also very good right from the start and the driver who delivered the food was very nice.

Food delivered was good but not a revelation. Amount ok, but not really much. Maybe it's due to the delivery, maybe. is served up a little less. I can't say what the ambience/service is like in the restaurant. It's a shame if there isn't all the information about the dishes on the Lieferando website. Especially whether spicy is hotter than spicy. Our daughter (13 years old) thought it was too spicy and now she actually likes eating spicy food. Or that the main dishes (curries) already come with rice. So we ordered extra rice twice. All in all, solid. Prices and delivery were also ok.

Creamy, spicy, delicate - a taste that melts in the tongue and stays in the heart. Plus the garlic naan that captures every drop of this delicious sauce. The service? Attentive, charming, with just the right amount of spice. A place where you don't just eat, but enjoy - and maybe leave a little in love. I'll be back!

I had Paneer Pakora as a starter and main course Daal makhani Ate Garlic Naan Tandoori. For dessert I have Gulab Jamun and vanilla ice cream with cream. It was well priced 👍 and tasted good too 👌👌👌

We can highly recommend the restaurant, authentic atmosphere and really nice service. We didn't have to wait much, the prices for the dishes were okay and they tasted very good! We recommend Garlic Naan Bread, Paneer Butter Masala and Daal! Thank you!:-)

It was a very good and nice meal. The light is a little bright. Otherwise suitable ambience. Service is good. Gives good advice. Helpful. A little inattentiveness was the service during the meal if you wanted another drink or wanted to pay.

Taste it India’s location takes some getting used to. It is a fairly small restaurant that filled up very quickly over the course of the evening. The service is courteous and very nice, the music was immediately turned down a bit upon request. The greeting from the kitchen is quite good. But the fish starter was absolutely amazing. Excellent taste, very tender and not overcooked fish with great seasoning. A real culinary delight. The lamb was also very tasty and spicy with a delicious sauce. The mango lassi was our dessert and it was also completely convincing. A wonderful, if somewhat noisy, evening as the restaurant was full. Nice for the owner, difficult for hearing aid wearers. In terms of price, the evening wasn't too expensive; drinks for two of us stayed under 70 euros. We like to come back again and again.

Make a reservation, unfortunately this is not possible via email or their reservation system via their site. This doesn't work, they don't use this. The only way is to call or walk in.

I actually can't understand the good reviews. Just a waste of money. I ordered a Chicken Jalfrezi Handi and Tandoori Chicken for delivery. The first- prepared with garlic, ginger and peppers. Since I'm allergic to onions, I wrote again - "please without ginger and no vegetables except peppers" because my feeling somehow told me that there could be other things in it. What did I get? - half a kilo of onions in the sauce, the 6-7 small pieces of meat completely dry. You should at least write that you don't order pepper-garlic-ginger but onions with chicken fillet. Instead of half a chicken, I just got 2 halved chicken legs that were so hard that I had to use force to separate them from the bone - a complete disappointment! Then just write that you are selling the legs and not half a chicken! Tasteless, far dry and smelled only of coriander. Grilled chicken can also be juicy and delicious - especially if it was supposedly marinated for 24 hours, but apparently not in your case. Indian cuisine is usually spicy, tasty and tender but definitely not yours! I've now lost €40 and an hour of waiting time to be able to order somewhere else! Unfortunately not everything is shown in the pictures because I've already thrown half of it in the trash😤

The restaurant is in a very quiet location. The staff was very friendly and nice. The food is simply delicious. What I liked was that they had a combo menu with a starter, main course and dessert.

If you like Indian, you've come to the right place. I've eaten here several times or had it delivered from here. Food is always delicious, service is very friendly. Overall, very nice store.

We went today there for second time.Food is quite customised as per local residents but definitely tastes good.We ordered Naan,Tandoori Chicken and Papad with Lassi.All of them tasted good.Of all the Indian restaurants in Essen this one is quite close to authentic Indian dishes.

It is a small restaurant with Indian specialties. The quality of the food and drinks is good, the visual presentation is nice. The staff is friendly. The atmosphere is nice, the furnishings look authentic thanks to the pictures. Due to the proximity to the city center, parking spaces are limited and chargeable. The maximum parking time is limited to 1.5 hours. March 2024

The lunch menu has a very good price-performance ratio. Where else can you find something under €10? Food is very authentic and delicious. Portion is completely sufficient for lunch. You still have to be able to work ;o)...Staff very friendly...ambience and decoration a bit too much for me personally....but it's a matter of taste....

Leckeres, indisches Essen und freundlicher, aufmerksamer Service. Die Speisekarte bietet für mich, und ich habe schon desöfteren indisch gegessen, doch noch Überraschungen. Die Papadam schmeckten frisch, wie auch unsere Hauptgänge. Grundsätzlich werden die Speisen mild gewürzt, auf Wunsch auch medium oder scharf. Mild war für mein empfinden wirklich mild, nächstes mal bestelle ich medium. Meine Frau hat von vornherein scharf bestellt und scharf bekommen. Wir kommen gerne wieder. Update aus 01/2024: Wieder sehr lecker gegessen. Kellner aufmerksam und sehr freundlich.

Die Lieferzeit wurde mit 25-45 Minuten (bei unter 10 min Fahrtweg) angegeben. Nach 60 Minuten habe ich bei dem Restaurant angerufen - das Essen sei fertig, nur der Fahrer von UberEats noch nicht aufgetaucht und man wolle sich kümmern. Weitere 10 Minuten später habe ich nochmal angerufen, wobei mir gesagt wurde, dass niemand erreicht wurde (ich bin mir nicht sicher bin, ob dies überhaupt versucht wurde). Auf meine Frage, ob dann nicht ein eigener Fahrer die Bestellung liefern könnte, wurde gesagt, dass dies gemacht wird. 20 Minuten später wurde ich angerufen und es wurde versichert, dass der Fahrer unterwegs sei, das Essen noch warm und ein Entgegenkommen wegen der langen Wartezeit sei auch dabei. Weitere 25 Minuten später ist der Fahrer dann mit lauwarmen, durchschnittlichem Essen ohne irgendeine Entschuldigung oder Extra angekommen. Zwei Stunden Warten möchte ich jedem, der hier Essen möchte nicht empfehlen - das lohnt sich nicht!

Eine der besten Anlaufstellen für indische Spezialitäten Liebhaber. Ich habe oft und viele indische Gerichte und Restaurants ausprobiert und kann mit voller Überzeugung sagen das ich eines der besten gefunden haben. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und geben sich jede Mühe aus dem Restaurant Besuch eine orientalische Harmonie und es wie eine kleine Reise nach Indien anfühlen zu lassen. Nur zu empfehlen !

Hello, (Usually I only post negative reviews for any resturant but this is one of the few occasions where owner deserves a positive review.) Food was much better than any of the Indian restaurants food in Essen. Humility is something that I learnt here for first time. Once someone greets you with a smile and folded hands, almost all of your grievances vanish at that point. This is something that I don't see much often. Mr. Singh, had been very great and kind resturanteur. I would like to thank him for his kindness and hospitality. ( Gourav )

Das Essen ist gut und das ist schon einmal ein wichtiger Punkt. Aber der Lieferservice ist leider sehr unzuverlässig. Das Essen war für 17 Uhr (vor)bestellt. Um 17:25 Uhr war das Essen noch noch nicht da, da habe ich angerufen. Antwort: Wir machen erst um 17 Uhr auf, Fahrer ist aber unterwegs, in ca. 5 Minuten sollte er da sein. Es ist 18 Uhr und der Fahrer ist noch immer nicht da 🤡 Wenn das Restaurant erst um 17 Uhr aufmacht, dann bietet doch im Bestellformular Lieferung erst ab 17:30 Uhr oder 18 Uhr an, damit es nicht zu solchen (vermeidbaren) Schwierigkeiten kommt.

The food was okay, not so great I personally didn't like it at all Naan was nice but sabzi wasn't good at all. It was like a liquid Gravy We had a vegetarian food here and i won't come here again

Das Essen war wieder ganz besonders lecker. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und in ruhiger, geselliger Atmosphäre schöne unterhaltsame Stunden mit Blick auf die bunten Herbstbäume verbracht.
