Tandori Haus in Essen

Ich kann nur sagen, dass meine Frau und ich beschlossen hatten, indisch zu essen. Wir gingen also zu Fuß zum Restaurant, das bei unserer Ankunft jedoch aus persönlichen Gründen geschlossen war. Am meisten ärgerte mich, dass dies auf der Webseite nicht erwähnt wurde! Letztendlich landeten wir in einem arabischen Restaurant, wo wir ein sehr leckeres Gericht bekamen!

Kurz: Hervorragende Küche, hervorragender Service. Soulfood at its best. Die Zutaten sind von hoher Qualität, die Zubereitung exzellent, dabei steht immer das Wohlbefinden des Gasts im Mittelpunkt (so dienen etwa die – selbstgemachten – Chutneys zu Beginn auch dem Testen, welcher Schärfegrad für den Gast in Ordnung ist), das Essen wird so unaufdringlich wie nahbar kommuniziert (etwa auch, ob bestimmte Zutaten wie Koriander in Ordnung gehen oder was die besondere Geschmacksnote des Gerichts ausmacht). Vielfach mit Gästen von auswärts vor Ort, kamen teilweise Monate später immer noch Rückmeldungen auf dieses besondere kulinarische Erlebnis. Ob vegetarisch oder ohne Einschränkungen – immer kam nur höchstes Lob (persönliche Empfehlung: Chicken tikka, scharf gewürzt). In nicht nur dem Essener Stadtkern ist das Tandorihaus sicherlich eine der besten Adressen, für Feinschmecker wie für „einfach so“. (Tipp: da familiengeführt und familiär, lohnt eine kurze telefonische Rücksprache kurz vor dem Essen selbst…)

Das Essen hat köstlich authentisch geschmeckt und der Betreiber hat sich viel Zeit genommen und Mühe gemacht, Schärfe und Geschmack zu besprechen. Das Preisleistungsverhältnis ist ausgezeichnet. Leute, wenn ihr indisches Essen mögt, geht dahin!

Wir waren mit einer größeren Gruppe hier essen. Die Bestellung wurde nicht schriftlich aufgenommen. Dadurch kam ein Gericht falsch an. Obwohl wir vorher nach Schärfegrad (europäisch/indisch) gefragt wurden, hatten alle Gerichte eigentlich gar keine Schärfe. Bei zwei von den vier scharf bestellten Gerichten lag eine grüne unreife chilli mit auf dem Salat auf dem Teller. Ich hätte mir mehr Soße bei den Gerichten gewünscht. Geschmacklich war es ok, aber nicht herausragend. Der Kichererbsen Teig ist allerdings super gewesen. Sowohl beim Naan als auch bei den Samosas. Top waren auch die Vorspeisen Soßen!

Wir waren gestern zum ersten Mal hier und haben wirklich so ein schönes Erlebens gehabt, dass wir das einfach teilen müssen. Leider können wir beide offenbar nicht lesen und haben das "Cash only" - Schild übersehen. So haben wir erst, als unser Essen bereits zubereitet wurde, erfahren, dass wir Bargeld brauchen. Mein Freund ging los um Geld abzuheben. Der Inhaber war SO unglaublich nett, hat mir noch eine Vorspeise und ein Getränk gebracht, während ich wartete - und das, obwohl er wusste, dass ich grade kein Bargeld habe. Als mein Freund wirderkam, teilte er mir, dass seine Karte defekt ist und er kein Geld abheben konnte. Der Inhaber hat ihm die nasse Jacke abgenommen und trotzdem gefragt ob er noch etwas trinken möchte. Obwohl er wusste, dass wir kein Geld haben. Sogar unser Essen brachte er uns und sagte, dass wir es einfach beim nächsten Mal bezahlen sollen. Wir waren völlig baff, wo erlebt man soviel Freundlichkeit noch? Letztendlich durften wir per Paypal bezahlen. Einfach so ein schönes Erlebnis voll Freundlichkeit, Menschlichkeit und Nächstenliebe - das muss geteilt werden. Das Essen war zudem noch ausgezeichnet. Ich essen nicht gerne scharf, liebe dennoch Curry. Wir wurden zu Beginn gefragt welchen Schärfegrad wir möchten und es wurde zum ersten Mal beachtet, dass mein Essen wirklich GAR NICHT scharf sein soll - das hat so noch keiner hinbekommen. Es war wirklich wirklich sehr lecker, man bekommt sogar noch Reis und Sauce nach, wenn man möchte. Alles in Allem: Essen perfekt, Ambiente wunderschön und gemütlich, Service und Freundlichkeit einfach überragend. Wir würden 10 Sterne vergeben, wenn wir könnten, und kommen definitiv wieder!

Wir waren mit sieben Personen hier essen. Das Personal ist äußerst freundlich und zuvorkommend. Die traditionelle Musik und der Räucherkerzenduft sorgen für eine angenehme Atmosphäre. Das Essen ist sehr sehr lecker und super preiswert. Außerdem werden die Schärfegrade des Essen an den Gast angepasst. Zum Abschluss bekommt jeder Gast noch "Mukhwas" eine indische Zucker/Gewürzperlen-Spezialität. Wir können das Tandorihaus sehr empfehlen!

I can highly recommend this traditional, family-run Indian/Pakistani restaurant, which I've been visiting for several years. The food is always freshly prepared, and there's a great selection for vegetarians as well. The owners are very welcoming and cater to individual requests. I always enjoy eating here with my family.

Very kind service and an excellent meal. The staff puts in an effort to gauge spice tolerance for those less familiar with Indian food. Our dishes took about an hour to be served, so keep in mind you might have to wait a while but it was worth it. Payment via card is not possible, so bring cash.

What a wonderful restaurant - a more than nice owner, a food that you rarely get in terms of taste and quality and ... plus a top price-performance ratio (starter, main course and 3 drinks at an incredible price) . When does the owner personally ask when ordering whether you can't tolerate something, which vegetables you like or not and where else does someone explain the spiciness levels to make sure that the guest really likes it? We were there with 4 people and everyone was thrilled. If I'm in Essen again I'll definitely come back... - 10 out of 10 stars

I went here as a student and felt very comfortable. The store used to be very busy because he won a lot of awards. Today there are several Indian shops in the city and lots of Arabic restaurants around it, so there isn't that much going on here anymore. But every time I go back, I'm thrilled. The service is really nice, the owner is really friendly and makes the food the way you want it, with the spices and the spiciness everything is right. My husband and I always enjoy coming here and say thank you for all these many years. We wish the owner that he stays healthy for a long time and that we can visit you often. We used to go there more often. Very good food, very nice, personal service. Every special request was fulfilled and special tastes were requested. Everything was freshly prepared and, thanks to the one-man operation, was slow but absolutely worth it. We were very pleased that the restaurant was gradually being better furnished. A lot of effort was put into it. Now we have been there again after moving and unfortunately we can no longer recommend it. Untidy and dirty, a lot of things patched up with adhesive tape. The side salad was already somewhat fermented and the rice didn't taste fresh. The freshly prepared food still tasted good, but afterwards there was a very restless night with stomach problems. Too bad. The owner is still very nice but things are no longer going well.

Der beste Inder in Essen. Der Gastgeber ist sehr freundlich und bemüht um seine Gäste. Zum Beispiel testet er mit dem kostenlosen Appetizer (Papadums), wie scharf man essen mag und setzt dies dann treffend um. Das Essen wird immer frisch gekocht und ist authentisch. Alles in Allem superlecker und ein echter Geheimtipp, wenn man auf "Chi-Chi" verzichten kann.

We have been going to Tandoori Haus to eat for about 20 years. Back then as students, now as parents in the rush hour of life. The boss is always warm, interested, very personal and can also implement special requests. The food is always delicious and authentic. For bread I recommend the chapati. Vegetarian dishes are also offered and the desired level of spiciness is requested. I would describe the furnishings as typical of the country and comfortable. Not an off-the-shelf restaurant but a heartfelt recommendation. Always a must for us when we are in Essen.

I have known the Tandori Haus for around 20 years. Quality and taste have always remained the same over time. The food, whether vegetarian or with meat, is very tasty! Requests (hotness etc) are taken into account. The boss is very accommodating. Not a big restaurant with tons of waiters. The boss often does everything alone. So you have to bring time. Not a “fancy-micki-restaurant”. Simple furnishings, very inconspicuous from the outside. Instead, focus on the essentials: hospitality and delicious food. That's why I like it so much. 🤗

Incredibly delicious food and very friendly staff. Here you put your heart and soul into it and the Pakistani dishes for the weekend are recommended, also shared as a starter. The level of spiciness is clarified extensively in advance and the dishes are served at the table appropriately spicy. Since only one person works in the entire store, especially during the week, you can sometimes wait a while for the food. But it's very worth it.

Highly Recommended. We have rarely been served with such care. It was really important to the owner and chef that our wishes were fulfilled. It was freshly cooked and tasted absolutely delicious. If we are in Essen again, we will definitely come back! Even without knowing the others, for us the best Indian in town!

If you are looking for awesome indian food this is your place. Everything is made completely fresh and tastes just awrsome. Only downside is that this will take some time. Been there 2 times already, and it took about 45 minutes from ordering until we could eat. But it was worth every minute. Actually best indian food I've ever had. The food is really good . The person who cook as well as owner this hotel is very welcoming. The food taste is one of the best in this area also very close to native Indian or Afghani taste. I enjoy eating Indian/Pakistani food and am always happy about new experiences. The shop here is practically a one-man show, the good gentleman cooks, serves and advises all by himself. When asked about the level of spiciness, which is always a difficult area of ​​communication, he showed himself to be very clever despite using few words and also used one of the sauces for the naan as an indicator of how I would like my food and didn't let you miss the opportunity to ask To check the starter again to see whether it hit the right level. The food itself was very good, I would have liked to eat a little more but I would rate it as a normal portion. The waiting times between ordering and eating weren't too long either, but there wasn't enough activity to make a general statement. The ambience is okay, the location is not that great and therefore the view and the plates are very... Functional. Not the ideal place for a romantic dinner, but if that's not so important you can eat well here and at a fair price.

Der Besitzer ist ein sehr freundlicher Mann, dein außergewöhnlichen Service bietet. Um die Schärfe zu testen, hat er uns vorab zwei verschiedene Saucen mit Brot gebracht. Zum ausprobieren. Die Gerichte waren sehr lecker. Unter anderem hatten wir das Tandoori Mix Grill. nochmals vor den außergewöhnlichen Service des Inhaber. Vielen Dank dafür. Sehr gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Gerne wieder beim nächsten Besuch in Essen.

Das Restaurant ist zwar unscheinbar und lädt nicht unbedingt zum Eintritt ein aber wenn man authentisch indisch essen möchte muss man da rein. Der Inhaber erklärt das Essen und berät Schärfe und die verwendeten Gewürze. Das Essen ist außergewöhnlich gut. Das Restaurant ist wärmstens zu empfehlen. Die Freude des Inhabers das Essen zuzubereiten und zu servieren ist ihm anzusehen.

Food taste was good however very less quantity. Ordered nan and got roti. I orded a curry and one extra nan i expect it to be full. Had paneer mattar gravy got 6 small pieces of paneer . Waited good 1 hr for the food. The table space was very small. The cashier was quite slow gave the exact money of the bill and was called to count like he cannot count . Over all ordered a mango lassi - average + mattar panner and 1 nan. Atleast give 150 ml of curry for each order. Not to mention their website is not updated and so it their menu had to pay extra than what was mentioned in the menu not sure if that is legal .
