If you are looking for awesome indian food this is your place. Everything is made completely fresh and tastes just awrsome. Only downside is that this will take some time. Been there 2 times already, and it took about 45 minutes from ordering until we could eat. But it was worth every minute. Actually best indian food I've ever had. And the owner is really really nice.

The food is really good . The person who cook as well as owner this hotel is very welcoming. The food taste is one of the best in this area also very close to native Indian or Afghani taste. You get plenty of options in menu. The owner is himself a very good chef so he helps you with menu. I suggest to choose chicken kurma and chicken Biryani. The atmosphere is average but the owner makes its very welcoming by his presence. Overall must try restaurant if you are in Essen.

I enjoy eating Indian/Pakistani food and am always happy about new experiences. The shop here is practically a one-man show, the good gentleman cooks, serves and advises all by himself. When asked about the level of spiciness, which is always a difficult area of ​​communication, he showed himself to be very clever despite using few words and also used one of the sauces for the naan as an indicator of how I would like my food and didn't let you miss the opportunity to ask To check the starter again to see whether it hit the right level. The food itself was very good, I would have liked to eat a little more but I would rate it as a normal portion. The waiting times between ordering and eating weren't too long either, but there wasn't enough activity to make a general statement. The ambience is okay, the location is not that great and therefore the view and the plates are very... Functional. Not the ideal place for a romantic dinner, but if that's not so important you can eat well here and at a fair price.

Small restaurant with typical cuisine. We shared different dishes with 5 people, there was no reason to criticize, really good and tasty. The starters were also very good. The dishes are all freshly prepared and the desired level of spiciness is requested. Reasonably priced, but only cash payment (EC machine around the corner near the GOP).

Ich kenne das Tandori Haus seit rund 20 Jahren. Qualität und Geschmack sind in der Zeit immer gleich hoch geblieben. Das Essen, egal ob vegetarisch oder mit Fleisch, ist sehr lecker! Auf Wünsche (Schärfe etc) wird eingegangen. Der Chef ist sehr zuvorkommend. Kein großes Lokal mit zig Kellnern. Der Chef macht oft alles allein. Man muss daher Zeit mitbringen. Kein "Schicki-Micki-Lokal". Schlichte Einrichtung, von aussen sehr unscheinbar. Dafür Konzentration auf's Wesentliche: Gastfreundschaft und leckeres Essen. Darum mag ich es so. 🤗

Wir waren zum Abendessen auf einer Geschäftsreise in diesem Restaurant. Glücklicherweise muss man sagen, dass unser Hotel direkt in der Nähe war, sonst hätten wir dieses tolle Restaurant nicht entdeckt. Das Restaurant wirkt unscheinbar. Der Besitzer ist ein sehr freundlicher Mann, dein außergewöhnlichen Service bietet. Um die Schärfe zu testen, hat er uns vorab zwei verschiedene Saucen mit Brot gebracht. Zum ausprobieren. Die Gerichte waren sehr lecker. Unter anderem hatten wir das Tandoori Mix Grill. nochmals vor den außergewöhnlichen Service des Inhaber. Vielen Dank dafür. Sehr gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Gerne wieder beim nächsten Besuch in Essen.

Wir besuchten auf Grund der positiven Bewertungen das Restaurant. Der Inhaber begrüßte uns sehr freundlich. Das Restaurant ist zwar unscheinbar und lädt nicht unbedingt zum Eintritt ein aber wenn man authentisch indisch essen möchte muss man da rein. Der Inhaber erklärt das Essen und berät Schärfe und die verwendeten Gewürze. Das Essen ist außergewöhnlich gut. Das Restaurant ist wärmstens zu empfehlen. Die Freude des Inhabers das Essen zuzubereiten und zu servieren ist ihm anzusehen.

Food taste was good however very less quantity. Ordered nan and got roti. I orded a curry and one extra nan i expect it to be full. Had paneer mattar gravy got 6 small pieces of paneer . Waited good 1 hr for the food. The table space was very small. The cashier was quite slow gave the exact money of the bill and was called to count like he cannot count . Over all ordered a mango lassi - average + mattar panner and 1 nan. Atleast give 150 ml of curry for each order. Not to mention their website is not updated and so it their menu had to pay extra than what was mentioned in the menu not sure if that is legal .

Not good ! Please avoid visiting this place if you are looking for good veg food. Not recommended at all. Only few veg options. Tandoor was not working so no naans. Tava roti was full maida :( Poor service , you have to keep going to the kitchen to call them as not sufficient staff.

Much more flavorful and spicy than average for an "Indian" restaurant in Germany. Good paneer.

Run by a very sweet old Afgani couple. Takes only cash. Food is perfect. Homely, Desi and not at all europeanised. The Bhaturas were perfectly fried and the chicken korma was just delicious. Not at all the basic pureed tomato curry that most restaurants serve. They even serve you complimentary papad and chutney before your food. Worth visiting again!

One of the best restsurant in Essen where I had a taste of Indian cuisine in recent times. I am very particular about the taste and the taste of Matar Paneer felt like wow... Both Uncle and Aunty who manages the restaurant are very welcoming. I will always go there whenever I'm in Essen.

Das Tandori Haus liegt an der vielbefahrenen Friedrich-Ebert-Straße und sieht von außen unscheinbar aus. Auch von innen ist es nicht besser, die Einrichtung und die Atmosphäre stammen wohl eher aus den 80er und 90er Jahren. Wir wollten uns schon umdrehen, als uns der sehr freundliche Inhaber ansprach und einen Platz anbot. Wir haben es nicht bereut, geblieben zu sein! Der Inhaber erklärte uns seine Küche und Gerichte. Bei der Auswahl unserer Speisen unterstützte er uns, vor allem hinsichtlich der Gewürze und der Schärfe. Vorspeisen und Hauptgerichte waren ordentlich angerichtet und schmeckten uns wirklich gut. Es waren für uns überwiegend unbekannte Geschmacksaromen. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist wirklich gut. Der Inhaber und seine Tochter(?) waren stets sehr aufmerksam, freundlich und höflich. Die Gastfreundschaft und die Freude an der Bewirtung seiner Gäste waren dem Inhaber förmlich anzusehen und zu spüren. Wir haben uns trotz der doch eher bescheidenen Einrichtung jederzeit wohl und gut aufgehoben gefühlt. Die einzige Toilette in diesem Lokal muss man allerdings nicht unbedingt aufsuchen. Bei unserem nächsten Städtetrip nach Essen kommen wir gerne wieder.

Das ist eine absolute Herzenempfehlung! Wir waren zu dritt dort und haben uns Vorspeisen und das Chicken tikka geteilt. Es war unfassbar lecker und wurde extra so serviert, dass wir uns alles perfekt teilen konnten. Sogar darauf das wir nicht alle gut scharf essen können wurde geachtet. Wir haben eine extra Vorspeise dazu bekommen und es war super schön und der Besitzer war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend! Das preis leistungsverhältnis war auch klasse, wir haben zu dritt 41€ bezahlt.Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder! Achtung keine Kartenzahlung möglich, es steht zwar auch an der Tür, aber das übersieht man ja schon mal :)

Der Besitzer ist unglaublich freundlich und bemüht, die Gerichte auch auf individuelle Wünsche anzupassen (scharf, nicht scharf, bestimmte Gewürze wegzulassen etc) Er ist ein sehr zuvorkommender Gastgeber und freut sich, wenn die Gäste zufrieden sind. Wir kommen seit Jahren regelmäßig her und sind immer traurig, wenn uns montags spontan die Lust auf gutes indisches Essen packt - dann ist hier wohlverdienter Ruhetag

Authentisches Essen, ohne die weite reise. Es wird nachgefragt was nicht ins essen soll (ingwer, Koriander, chili etc.) und so individuell auf die Vorlieben und Abneigungen eingegangen ohne den Geschmack/feeling weg zu lassen. Das Ambiente ist einfach, aber gemütlich ohne dreckig oder unsauber zu sein. Das Eigentümerpaar sprich gutes und verständliches deutsch. Wir gehen ab sofort in kein anderes indisches Restaurant mehr ausser diesem.

Hier gibt es sehr authentisches Essen. Das Restaurant wird von einem älteren Ehepaar seit 26 Jahren geführt. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist sehr gut. Wann kann zwischen verschiedenen Schärfestufen wählen. Das Restaurant kann ich empfehlen.

Wir sind dort sehr herzlich empfangen worden und hat uns auch verschiedene Dinge sehr nett erklärt und Rücksicht darauf genommen ob wir es gern scharf haben wollen oder eher weniger. Das Essen war sehr lecker und mal etwas anderes. Es scheint so als würde er alles selbst und frisch machen und keine tk Ware benutzen. Man muss hervorheben das der Mann den Service und die Küche alleine macht und dies unserer Meinung nach sehr gut hin bekommt. Die warte Zeiten waren sehr angemessen. Alles in allem eine Empfehlung Villt sogar ein Geheimtipp

Quantity wise also it's good but little less comparatively. Only thing is - it will take quite a little time to get your order on table as there is only two person(owner and his wife) to cook. But until you get your order, you will be offered with fried "papad" along with 3 different chutney sauce as munching which u can enjoy till u get your orders. Das kleine Lokal besticht vor allem durch seinen Service. Der ältere Herr (wohl der Chef) war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Speisekarte bietet eine gute Auswahl an Gerichten mit und ohne Fleisch. Mein bestelltes Gericht war sehr lecker. Die Preise wurden wohl vor kurzem etwas erhöht, jedoch ist das heutzutage vollkommen in Ordnung. Das Interieur erscheint recht retro, die eine und andere Ecke schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Der Innenhof wirkt sympathisch, jedoch war es bei der Hitze doch angenehmer drinnen zu sitzen.

Immer wieder großartig! Alles wird frisch zubereitet. Also können Schärfe und mit oder ohne Koriander für jedes Gericht verhandelt werden. Und auch die vegetarischen Gerichte sind klasse und haben nichts mit "Fleischverzicht" zu tun. Einfach lecker. Seit vielen Jahren unser Stamminder.
