A lovely restaurant used to be there regularly, but now I live too far away. It was renovated in February, and the atmosphere was great.

The schnitzel was a bit dry and we had to ask for mayo with the fries, but one of us had salmon and it was perfect.

Great location in the sun. Lovely for a delicious lunch or to sit by the St. Johanner Markt in the evening. The interior is also very cozy when it's chilly. I've celebrated 10 birthdays there already... Simply amazing with great service 🌺🥰 Highly recommended 🤙👍

Nice restaurant right by the fountain, with plenty of seating on the terrace. The staff is super friendly. The salads are huge and truly delicious – excellent value for money. We'd love to go back!

Well, just 3 stars. Unfortunately, it's only mediocre. The salad was probably pre-prepared in the kitchen for hours. Better not to eat salad; the daily specials are better. 14.9: I have to add to your answer. The salad was definitely not freshly prepared. The greens had already turned brown and were shriveled. This salad had been sitting in the heat for hours.

On September 13, 2025, we spent our girls' night at Tante Maja and were absolutely thrilled. It was a wonderful evening with delicious food and a great atmosphere, and not to mention, we had extremely attentive and friendly service that left nothing to be desired. I was on vacation in Saarbrücken. We kept coming back to the restaurant because the food is delicious and the place is very cozy. The waiters were very friendly, too. Except for today, we were served by a boy named Adrián! His treatment was terrible, terrible. His attention was 0/10. His attention was so poor that we certainly wouldn't have returned if they had taken care of us the first day. It's unfortunate because the place is very good, as are the other waiters, but this attention totally ruins the experience!

I understand the place can get busy, but that kind of behavior comes across as very rude and unwelcoming. A simple greeting or a little courtesy would have made a big difference. The waitresses are great, but the boss is very unpleasant, she shouts at her employees in front of the customers, which creates a bad atmosphere, especially since the service was impeccable.

A fantastic evening with wonderful food and friendly service

So, inflation rate or no inflation rate, I found 20 euros for a schnitzel (so thin that it weighed no more than 150 grams with the breading), with fries (no salad), and a small glass of orange juice, to be more than outrageous. Other restaurants are also struggling with price increases, but this was the height of rip-off.

A really nice place to eat, with very friendly staff. Definitely make a reservation, because it was packed. Because we arrived early, they were able to free up a table, which was very kind. The staff even tried to speak Dutch with us, which was very pleasant. We went for a German meal. One of the dishes wasn't quite to our liking, but the rest were very good.

We were a group of 32 adults from Belgium. The reservation was perfect, and the service from Simeon and Schatzi was simply fantastic. It was a wonderful evening that we enjoyed from start to finish. We can highly recommend Aunt Maja.

I visited Tante Maja's in Saarbrücken last Sunday, and it was simply fantastic. The atmosphere is relaxed and designed with great attention to detail. The staff was very friendly and attentive; I felt welcome from the very beginning. The food was truly delicious, freshly prepared, and beautifully presented. The selection of drinks also leaves nothing to be desired. All in all, a place you'll want to return to and simply feel at home. Absolutely recommended for anyone looking for a cozy meal or a drink in Saarbrücken.

A very good Sunday lunch in Saarbrücken, in a restaurant serving typical and delicious German cuisine. Special mention to the very attentive waiter, who made a real effort to explain the dishes to me in French – a much-appreciated gesture. One small drawback, however, for a border town: the menu is only available in German, with no French or English translations, which can make choosing a meal difficult for non-German-speaking visitors. That said, the dishes were excellent, generous, and well-prepared, with a nice variety of local specialties. The terrace is pleasant, especially for a sunny Sunday lunch.

Two of us arrived very hungry. We ordered Wiener Schnitzel, homemade spaghetti, and two shandys. The shandys tasted like they'd been watered down. There was obviously no Sprite in them. The spaghetti definitely tasted like it had been warmed up in cheap oil. The schnitzel was dry and unseasoned. The fries were also dry and unseasoned. Upon request, they added ketchup, which was a bit of a waste.

Seems to be a cult joint in Saarbrücken. Unfortunately, we didn't like the food at all. My fries were oil-soaked potato sticks, which made me feel quite nauseous. My wife's pasta was covered in garlic. Both dishes clearly showed that no passion was put into making them. It's a shame, really. The place seems to be doing well, though.

I wanted to pay for my glass of wine with a card; it didn't work; "only from 10 euros"! I can pay for three pretzels with my books with a card. You can find German service not only at public establishments.

Monday is schnitzel day, and it was delicious, and the service was friendly. Since there were more than 10 of us, reservations are recommended. We felt comfortable, and all 11 of us were completely satisfied.

Nice restaurant, but unfortunately very cramped. Service was attentive, but since she hadn't written anything down, the order was unfortunately incorrect. The salad, or rather the salad dressing, was completely tasteless. It seemed to be just oil and vinegar without a hint of seasoning. Sour, tasteless, and boring. 2 salads and 2 drinks for €36. Positive: The food arrived very quickly.

The food is not great, the service feels like you're in the way because it's fast to move on to the next person, the cooking is limited and the taste is very average.

We've been regulars at Tante Maja's for years, but we've really had enough now. It's just far too expensive these days, the portions are extremely small, and you have to pay extra for everything (like bread). A negative example is the rump steak evening on Thursday evenings, which is supposed to be a good deal on a special day. But here you end up with almost €30 for a steak that's really not what it used to be, plus a side salad. The value for money is definitely not good anymore, and the quality of the food has also declined enormously. On top of that, you feel like you're being mass-produced, because you can only book a certain slot within the restaurant and have to leave quickly. It's a shame! It used to be really good there.

Great atmosphere, friendly service, and delicious food. The salmon with herb butter and fried potatoes was incredibly tasty. The "Seemann" pasta was also a delight. The portions are generous. I probably won't make it back to Saarbrücken, but if I do, I would eat here again.

We were hungry and looking for a place open late at lunchtime. So we stumbled upon this place. We received a very friendly welcome and were seated immediately. The only thing I would mention is the warm temperature upstairs. But overall, I thought it was a dream. The ambiance is super cozy. The food is absolutely delicious, and the service is absolutely fantastic! Courteous, multilingual, organized, and amazingly fast. We waited a maximum of 10 minutes for our food and had a truly phenomenal taste experience. The price was also completely reasonable, and the portions were perfect. In short: I'm thrilled and will be back.

First we had to look for a waiter to find out which table was reserved for us, then somehow we weren't sure - chaos. The actual waiter later was great. The food is delicious, although the menu is far too large and many things are not available. It was also recommended to us based on Saarland dishes. We couldn't find these. The menu cards were all dirty and some had burn holes. The new decor is nice and modern. Unfortunately, the toilets were terribly dirty - paper and puddles of water everywhere, a dirty sink. It's a shame and really difficult to judge whether we would eat here again.

We were there from Berlin. There was absolute chaos with reservations. The tables are so close that you gasp. A small pot of ketchup is only available with the fries upon request. The schnitzel is fried rather averagely...plate decoration=0 We'd rather go to a different "restaurant" next time.

Long drink 10 euros! Prices greatly increased! We were shocked when we were in Aunt Maja for the first time since the renovation. The main thing that was “renovated” was the prices. A simple vodka soda (“Skinny B.”) costs 10 euros! This is simply vodka with sparkling water. Other long drinks are also extremely expensive. And the food too! Almost all dishes have increased significantly in price, this also applies to special days, such as Pasta Day. Despite all the understanding we have for the difficult situation facing restaurateurs, our conclusion is: Disproportionate price increases! What a shame! :-(

Lovely dinner! You have to book the restaurant in advance otherwise it’s fully booked if you want to walk in on Saturdays. We had special dish (tagliata) and fish soup, both are very tasty! Service is fast, price is reasonable. Seats were a bit squeezed and the indoor temperature was high. But acceptable since I can imagine everyone wants to have dinner in this nice restaurant.

The food was plentiful and delicious, and the employees were all very friendly! Because it is located in the square, it is a great place to have a meal while looking around.

Small, rustic restaurant on two floors in the center of Saarbrücken. Very friendly service, very good food. Had the pork cheeks with beer sauce, "Hoorige" (kind of dumpling) and vegetables (daily menu) - I can highly recommend it.

I was there with my family for dinner on December 25th. The ambience, the service and also the food were good. Unfortunately, all but one of us had food poisoning afterwards. This was a very bad experience and I absolutely cannot recommend it when it comes to pasta, especially for the price.

A good restaurant with a great ambience. There were four of us, we had 4 different dishes and we were all more than satisfied. The service was also very friendly. Tables should definitely be booked, but it is only possible every 2 hours, which is more than enough. Gladly again.
