Sorry, the food looked good, but it was absolutely tasteless. The schnitzel was definitely frozen. The mushroom sauce had absolutely no flavor. The cream sauce didn't taste like cream sauce at all 😑 It's a real shame because it's such a lovely, cozy atmosphere. Come on, guys, cook with love, and we'll be back!

This is a great place to rest during a hike. They have good food and delicious cakes.

We booked a memorial service here following a burial in the woodland cemetery. Even the reservation process was very pleasant, with friendly and professional service. When we arrived at the restaurant, everything was ready, and a lovely warm wood fire was burning in the room's stove. It immediately made us feel comfortable. The cake was incredibly delicious, and the sandwiches were also good. The server was infrequent but attentive. Towards the end, we were given paper plates and aluminum foil to take the leftovers home. And the price was reasonable. We will definitely return for a nice hike followed by a meal. We felt very welcome. Thank you so much for everything!

We stopped here for dinner with four people after a hike. It's a self-service hut. We had salad with turkey strips, pork loin steak with herb butter, cordon bleu, and potato dumplings with pork fillet in mustard sauce. All the dishes were good, although some of the meat was a bit dry. Prices are slightly higher for a self-service hut.

It's very nice here. The atmosphere is perfect; you can enjoy a culinary lunch, afternoon, or evening after a hike, bike ride, run, or just for fun. We love it.

Good food, very solid, home-style cooking. The cheese spaetzle was nicely seasoned, the oil and vinegar salad dressing was good, the sausage salad was very good, and the fried potatoes were a bit greasy and therefore not as crispy as their beautiful color would suggest, but all in all, really good. Of course, it's not top-notch dining, but for what it is/wants to be, it's really good. I would stop by again anytime after a hike in the "jungle"!

We celebrated our wedding at the Naturfreundehaus yesterday, and it was a wonderful day. We ate very well, and the staff were very attentive and friendly.

This restaurant is definitely recommended for hikers! Another option is to visit the place in a group and, in collaboration with the restaurant, hold a planned group celebration with barbecues and other activities. Anything is possible.

An exceptional place surrounded by nature with various small hiking trails to whet your appetite. The outdoor terrace is magnificent and spacious. You can dine until 6 p.m. with forest escalopes, mushroom cream, fries, and a large salad at a very reasonable price, as well as various dishes from the Saarland region. A wide variety of cakes are also available for those with a sweet tooth. You can stay hydrated throughout the day with German beer and soft drinks. In winter, you can eat indoors, but the room isn't very large; reservations are required. The great charm of the room is a Swedish wood-burning stove that provides pleasant warmth. I highly recommend this place.

Beautiful beer garden near Völklingen. No table service; you order your food and drinks inside and are assigned a number, which is then displayed on a board. We had a sausage salad with potatoes; we haven't had anything as delicious in recent memory. The kitchen closes at 6:30 p.m., so please be aware of that.

The food was good and plentiful, and there were plenty of places to sit, some with shade. You have to pick up your food and drinks yourself at the counter.

We stopped here during a hike. The staff were unfriendly when serving cake. "Hello and goodbye" was a foreign word. The cake wasn't convincing.

is one of the most popular hiking destinations on the weekend. We like to go there with friends. over and over again for so many years.

The food was great and we really enjoyed it

Stopped by after hiking, unfortunately it wasn't that convincing. The food seemed to be undercooked and the salad was too sour for my taste. You also had to serve yourself, which is fine in itself, but the staff seemed unfriendly. It's a shame, because the reviews are overall very inviting.

It's actually in a really beautiful location and perfect for hikers and families. Unfortunately, we received a completely unfriendly welcome and were served very unfriendly throughout. Because of this, we won't be seen there anymore and unfortunately we won't recommend it to others. It's a shame that the conditions there seem to make it very difficult to simply be friendly, as this is mentioned in almost every second review!

Affordable nature friend's house near the Saarbrücken Friedwald. You can sit both inside and outside. You have to order and pay at the counter inside. Top cake. Delicious hot dishes. Easily accessible. You can rent the barbecue area in the courtyard if you buy the drinks there. Great for birthdays or family celebrations.

Hut feeling with a feel-good character

Yesterday, on New Year's Day, we stopped there after a hike. I ordered herring with jacket potatoes and was totally disappointed. Under a mountain of onions I discovered two small and an even smaller piece of herring fillets. The cream sauce was almost as liquid as water. Onions were probably on offer, but herrings were not. Too bad, had the same meal on New Year's Day 2024 and that was fine.

After the jungle tour there for coffee and cake, always nice. In the summer it's also nice to sit outside.

TOP destination. Very comfortable, very nice and friendly staff. We ate there in the outdoor area today on the Zeroth of Advent. There is self-service there. Order inside, pay and sit outside with the waiting token and listen for the bell. When it rings and your number is there, it's ready to be picked up at the counter. As with the admissions office, awesome!!! With outdoor playground. I can only warmly recommend the Naturfreundehaus.

Nice starting point for a hike.

The outdoor area (beer garden) is good. Unfortunately Paulaner is at Biergarzen and we got Karlsberg. The staff and owner are unfriendly and seem haphazard. Prices OK.

After a beautiful autumn hike, we had dinner here with our dog. Great atmosphere and very nice staff. The portions were very large and the prices were absolutely justified. We'd love to come by again.

I would like to use this method to thank the people who found my lost cell phone on October 26th. 2024 in Friedwald, unfortunately I was in a hectic time because of my two children, otherwise I would have shown my gratitude on site. Thank you very much again 💗

Very nice garden (you can't write the first part of the word that starts with B) with many hiking trails nearby. Rich offerings on the menu. I I ate schnitzel, fries, salad (which was very generous and with a delicious dressing) - although the schnitzel came from the deep fryer and was a maximum of 5 mm thick, everything else was breading. It's better to charge a euro more and offer better quality. The service was good. We will still come back and I just don't eat schnitzel. Beautiful bxxx garden!

Very nice place to start and end a hike in the Urwald. Friendly welcome. Good little dishes. Served all day from 10:30 a.m. Very fair prices.

We wanted to eat a piece of cake and drink coffee. Since no one was queuing outside and we wanted to look at the cake, we went in to order. After a long wait, we were told in a mushy tone that we had to order outside and that everyone else had their turn before us. We then left. It's a shame, we always enjoy coming here.

Self-service restaurant. You can sit outside or inside, order at the counter and then take the food to the table. There is German cuisine, and vegetarian dishes are also on the menu. The food was delicious. The selection of cakes is very large!

Simple “forest inn” located in the middle of the forest. Self-service and ordering at the counter. The food is good and the price-performance ratio is right. Only the atmosphere inside and outside is a bit old-fashioned, but it has the advantage that you are welcome even with dirty clothes and dogs.

Restaurant located in the forest. This is self-service. Simply order food in the restaurant, then you receive a numbered ticket and wait outside at the table. A digital display with sound illuminates when the food of the respective number is ready. The food is served outside under the signage served. Very generous portion. So if you have a big appetite, you will be satisfied here. Tastes excellent. Bon appetit.

Top location - classic beer garden with a great selection.

I wouldn't have expected that! We stopped here to take a break on our hike through the forest near Saarbrücken. It's self-service, but we didn't mind. Shady seating in the beer garden. The food was simply amazing. Large portions, very tasty prepared. Absolute recommendation, even for more than just a hiking break!

Food is good. You just have to be careful when paying! Be sure to have your receipt handed over Prices are not calculated as on the menu, more is deducted, that was the case for me! The prices are also a bit high for self-service. In other Naturefriends houses in Saarland and the Palatinate the prices for food and drinks are cheaper. A 0.4 liter sour Riesling wine spritzer for €7.80 is absolutely amazing. In the Palatinate region around Dahn – Annweiler you get 1 l for this. The lady at the counter could be friendlier. Friendliness is not the order of the day there. We don't go there anymore!!!

Essen ist gut. Nur beim Bezahlen muss man aufpassen! Unbedingt Kassenbon aushändigen lassen Preise werden nicht wie auf der Speisekarte berechnet, wird mehr abgezogen, bei mir war das so! Auch sind die Preise etwas hoch bei Selbstbedienung. In anderen Naturfreundehäuser im Saarland und in der Pfalz sind die Preise für Speisen und Getränke billiger. Ein 0,4 l saure Riesling Weinschorle für 7,80 € ist der absolute Hammer. Im Pfälzer Land rund um Dahn – Annweiler bekommen sie dafür 1 l. Die Dame am Tresen könnte könnte freundlicher sein. Freundlichkeit ist dort nicht angesagt. Wir gehen nicht mehr dorthin!!!

Very nicely located in the forest with lots of tables and benches, there is also a small playground. The salad with turkey strips was huge and very tasty, I was pleasantly surprised. You had to pick up your own food and drinks, so a star deduction for the service, but that was completely fine.

Card payment only from 10 euros. You will receive this information after you have ordered. With 2 beers for a total of 8.80 there is no way to pay without cash. You get bullied by the staff and the boss. Even the offer to pay 10 euros cannot be implemented because the staff is unable to put an additional 1.20 euros into the till. The boss just bleats around and when you point out that there is no information about 10 euro card payments. Apparently there is no need for it here.

Once again we ate well and sat in the shade at 28° with a cool breeze

It is a nature lovers' house on the edge of the forest, beautifully located, good food, great cake buffet, but prices are a bit high, a bit expensive for nature lovers.

Nature friends house with self-service. The food was ready quickly, and the number display lets you know when your order is ready to be picked up. It was hot and delicious. And big portions. In our opinion, absolutely worth the money. Cake and coffee were ok too. Overall nice after a hike or visit to the neighboring Friedwald.

I've been here for ages, I have to say, it's beautifully located in the forest, with a small playground for children. So if you sit outside you can relax here. There are many different seating options with or without sun protection, and there are also plenty of seat cushions. You have to place your order inside and pay immediately. You get the drinks straight away and you get a voucher for the food. When it's ready, the number appears on the outside of the house and you then go to pick it up there. You can also leave the dirty dishes there later. That's fine for a nature friend's house, but that's why I only give it 3 stars for the service. The food tastes good, but it's nothing special. My Jägerschnitzel was huge, breaded, but unfortunately over-fried, therefore a bit dry and too thick, and the sauce that came with it was really very stiff and stuck to the meat and wasn't tasty. The salad that came with it was okay, but quite bland. My colleagues also enjoyed it so far. The cream schnitzel was the same as mine. But the mock sirloin steak was great. The prices are okay.
